Prep Chronicle YOUR ESSENTIAL ROUND-UP FOR THE WEEK COMMENCING 11 MAY 2026 Message from the Head of Prep Music has certainly been in the air at Cranmore this week, alongside the hail, wind, rain and occasional bursts of sunshine. All the hard work invested in rehearsals for the House Music Competition came together beautifully on Friday afternoon, resulting in a series of outstanding performances. I certainly did not envy our visiting adjudicator, who faced the difficult task of selecting a winner. Congratulations to Stokes on their well-deserved triumph this year. On Tuesday morning, the Prep enjoyed a wonderful organ performance by one of our Year 5 boys, followed by a beautiful Ascension Mass. The children were in fine voice, and Father Charles was once again impressed by the passion with which they sang. Wednesday’s Lower Prep Instrumental Concert gave our younger pupils a valuable opportunity to perform in front of a large audience. Simply having the courage to step forward was admirable. As Mr Harris noted, the key ingredient is the “P word”: practice. Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged the children in preparing for this occasion. Thursday morning’s Reception assembly was incredibly charming. Again, the confidence shown in standing up and delivering their lines in front of such a large audience was a real achievement. It is remarkable to see how much progress they have made since September. Summer sports are now in full swing, with cricket and tennis fixtures in abundance. There have been some outstanding individual performances, alongside a strong sense of team spirit. Good luck to all those involved in this weekend’s matches.
