Prep Chronicle YOUR ESSENTIAL ROUND-UP FOR THE WEEK COMMENCING 14 SEPTEMBER 2026 Message from the Head of Prep Our extensive clubs programme is in full swing and it has been wonderful to see the children engaged in such varied pursuits. I know that our young gardeners were very proud of their crop of tomatoes and our skiers have been excitedly hitting the slopes. Positions of responsibility have been awarded to children across the Prep and our House Captains have been looking particularly proud of their badges. Our School Council have their first meeting soon and I am looking forward to hearing their ideas for the year. Well done to our Sports Department for hosting a fantastic Under 10 Football event. Our visiting schools were very complimentary of the organisation of the afternoon and the warm welcome they received. Our teams were a credit to the school, showing dedication and a great sense of sportsmanship. Good luck to all of our footballers for tomorrow’s tournaments. This evening we look forward to hosting the London Community Gospel Choir for what promises to be another amazing Cranmore Live event. It is a wonderful opportunity for both Prep and Seniors to come together and perform. The afternoon workshops are an exceptional experience and one that I am sure they will all remember for years to come. Mr Heaver
Gardening Club
The Gardening Club has enjoyed a fantastic star t to the academic year, and we are delighted to welcome a number of new gardeners to the team. In just two sessions, our enthusiastic gardeners have already been hard at work planting sunflowers and caring for the garden. They have also been enjoying the rewards of last year's effor ts, harvesting a wonderful crop of ripe tomatoes grown by former Gardening Club members. It has been inspiring to see how the hard work and dedication of previous gardeners continue to benefit the club today. Looking ahead, there is plenty more to come. Over the next few weeks, the boys will be planting two varieties of cabbage, along with broccoli and cauliflower, as they prepare for another produc tive growing season. We are excited to watch the garden flourish throughout the year and look forward to sharing more of our harvests and achievements with the school community. Mrs Varney and Mrs Spooner

Year 2 Forest School Trip
Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic first session back at Forest School! The children were excited to discover the produce that had grown over the summer, including some HUGE courgettes. They also created beautiful blackberr y tie-dye ar t and had great fun climbing trees. It was a super session and a wonderful way to reconnec t with the outdoors. Mrs Parker
Year 1 News As par t of our Oceans topic, we talked about how useful a lighthouse was. We then created our own lighthouse silhouette by using masking tape, water colour and a light house template. Mrs Prothero and Mrs Rudduck loved our paintings!
Sports News
Ski Club is up and running once again, with sessions for all abilities taking place at Sandown on Monday evenings. Meanwhile, our Race Squad continues its training at Aldershot on Friday evenings as they prepare for the season ahead. Sports News A brilliant week of sport at Cranmore! Last Friday, we were delighted to host 10 local schools for our U10 Primary Schools Football Tournament, enjoying a wonderful afternoon of football on the Henderson Fields. On Saturday, our U13s brought home the first silverware of the year, winning the Parkside 7-a-side Tournament in style, scoring an incredible 21 goals and conceding none. Our U11s also enjoyed a successful block fixture, while all of Year 5 represented the school against King's House on Thursday. Our U8s played their first match of the season today, and our U9s are in action on Monday. The football continues tomorrow as we host our Cranmore U8 and U10 Football Tournament, welcoming 16 teams to compete. We also wish the very best of luck to our 24-strong Ski Squad, who will be competing in the ESSKIA Championships tomorrow following excellent preparation at Aldershot and Sandown. Mr Hodgson, Director of Sport
Message from the Chaplain
A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew When Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive, he probably expects a number. Instead, Jesus offers a way of life: “not seven times, but seventyseven times” (Matthew 18:22). When Jesus tells Peter to forgive “seventy-seven times”, he invites us into God's way of loving. Forgiveness is not about excusing wrongdoing or forgetting our hurts. Rather, it means choosing not to let resentment have the final word. Pope Leo XIV reminds us that forgiveness is essential for peace because anger and revenge destroy relationships, divide families, and even fuel conflict in the wider world. Every act of forgiveness becomes a small act of peacemaking. This teaching connects deeply with Catholic Social Teaching. Forgiveness honours the dignity of the human person, recognising that every individual is more than their mistakes. As St John Paul II famously said: "There is no peace without justice, no justice without forgiveness." When we forgive, we imitate Christ on the Cross. We choose hope over bitterness, reconciliation over division, and love over resentment. Forgiveness may not change the past, but it can transform the future. Prayer Lord Jesus, you forgave those who crucified you and call us to do the same. Help us to forgive as we have been forgiven. Free our hearts from anger and bitterness, and teach us to recognise the dignity of every person. Amen.
