We want to welcome you to our first online Fall Heifer Sale!
Here at Effertz Key Ranch, we have been breeding Charolais cattle since 1959 and Salers since 1983. Always working on genetics that will make this business more profitable. We have an Annual Bull Sale and offer sound bulls that have been tested and measured to prove their quality and great potential within someone else’s program. This year we decided to do something different and wanted to offer our replacement females for purchase. With much deliberation we believe this year was as good as any to open up this opportunity.

This group of heifers is one of the most uniform sets we have raised, we are offering to you the “cream of the crop”. These are the type of females that will go out and make good foundation cows, that will compliment anyone’s program. They’re deep bodied, easy doing, and the kind that will do well in any environment. We keep udder quality and structure at the forefront of our priorities and these bred heifers we believe reflect it. The group as a whole have a lot of growth and performance, and we would expect them to mother big high performing calves. We did not keep these heifers on feed for the sale, they were pulled off pasture for the pictures & videos - we run our cows realistically. They have to hold their own in our environment, so we wanted to be realistic with our customers when it came to this sale.
Many of the females are sired by our own Keys Ballyhoo 77D, a bull that has proven himself in our program time and time again as both a bull and female maker. His daughters have made a big impact on our program, their udder quality is great and they always mother big weaning calves. Another big portion of the heifers in our sale are sired by SCR Affinity 9104 and SCR Sir Ledger 9411. We calved out our first set of SCR Affinity females this past spring and we are happy with the udder quality and how they are raising their calves. They’re easy doing and great on milk.
We invite you to take a look through our offering of spring born, bred heifers. They have been preg checked, and we have included their expected due dates, as well as the registration numbers of the bulls they are bred to. All the heifers were pasture exposed after their AI dates to Keys Ambition 248J, a heifer bull we raised. This is our second year using him, we were really happy with his calves this spring and how he calved out. Contact any of us listed for questions you may have about the group. We would be happy to have you out to the ranch to look at our offering in person!
