PROJECT 1

SUPPLIES ///

Each participant will receive the following. Finished tiles will be shared on Instagram, the Maywood blog, and via email.

Four 12” × 12” Creative Tiles

Design Wall System tiles

A curated bundle of floral focal fabrics from multiple Maywood Studio collections Pins for attaching elements

Include a sewn or partially sewn piece using one or more of the provided fabrics. It can be finished or unfinished, simple or layered, any technique (hand sewing, paper pieced, machine sewn, appliqué, free motion quilted, etc.), and may include additional materials if desired (see note on adding additional fabrics).

3.INSPIRATION

Include items that reflect what inspires you. This may include photos, trims, buttons, pattern pieces, three-dimensional objects, or elements from nature.

Kick off your Maywood Makers journey by creating a personal inspiration design wall using Creative Tiles. Focal Florals centers around a shared bundle of floral fabrics from multiple Maywood Studio collections, giving you a common starting point for your design wall.

Use one, several, or all of the florals to build a mood board that reflects your current creative voice. Think of it as a mini design wall and a snapshot of your inspiration at this moment. Your tile can stay within its edges or extend beyond them: your creative expression is the focus.

All tiles will be shared together online as a virtual design wall, showcasing the collective creativity of the 2026 Maywood Makers.

2.WORD OR PHRASE

Include a single word or phrase that captures your current mindset, creative intention, or personal inspiration. You can write, print, stitch, collage, or otherwise incorporate it into your tile. Think of it as a verbal anchor for your design and a reflection of your creative energy at this moment.

4.PLACE

Add an element that represents where you live or create. This could be a photo, postcard, drawing, collage, or found object. *Adding

PROJECT 1

1.COMPLETED TILES PHOTO TIPS FOR GREAT IMAGES

- PORTRAIT ORIENTATION -

A clear photo of your finished inspiration tile showing the full design.

2.PROCESS PHOTO

- PORTRAIT ORIENTATION -

A photo of you interacting with your tile. This could include pinning an element, adjusting fabric, or working on the sewn piece. Your face does not need to be shown.

Use natural light and a clean background

Photograph the tile vertically so it fills the frame

Keep the focus on the tile and your making process

TILES

The Creative Tiles have an adhesive backing that creates a permanent bond on smooth surfaces, and they also have a pinable surface. You can use the pins included in your welcome box or any other pins you like.

If you prefer not to attach the tiles directly to a wall, consider mounting them on a board, upcycling a record album cover, using a picture frame, or another sturdy surface that can be hung or moved.

Tiles can be arranged in a variety of ways: four together, in a long line, flat on a table, or individually. Each tile is 12” square, so a 2×2 arrangement will cover 24” × 24”.
