DARTMOUTH COLLEGE: EAST WHEELOCK RENOVATION AND ADDITION

THE EAST WHEELOCK RENOVATION AND ADDITION PROJECT CONSISTED OF UPGRADES TO THE EXISTING FRESHMAN DORMITORIES AND NEW ADDITION ON THE STUDENT COMMONS SPACE. THE DESIGN CONCEPT HINGES ON PROVIDING A WELCOMING AND INCLUSIVE STUDENT EXPERIENCE THAT PUTS HUMAN COMFORT AT THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. DUE TO THE SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL ASSEMBLIES AND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES, THE PROJECT WAS SUBMITTED TO USGBC AS A LEED SILVER DESIGN.

ABOVE: ANNUAL SUNLIGHT EXPOSURE (ASE) SIMULATIONS WERE CONDUCTED TO UNDERSTAND THE PERCENTAGE OF FLOOR AREA THAT RECEIVES TO MUCH DIRECT SUNLIGHT (1000 LUX OR MORE FOR AT LEAST 250 OCCUPIED HOURS PER YEAR).

SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEM: DUE TO THE ORIENTATION OF THE BUILDINGS, THE SOLAR RADIATION AT THE ROOF LEVEL PROVIDES EACH BUILDING WITH 4500 GAL/DAY OF DOMESTIC HOT WATER


THE LANDSCAPE IS INTEGRATED INTO THE PLAZA DECK TO REDUCE HEAT ISLAND EFFECT


ABOVE: THE SOLAR RADIATION STUDIES PROVIDED HEATMAP CALCULATIONS THAT WERE USED TO TEST DESIGN CONCEPTS AND TO APPROXIMATE THE ENERGY THAT CAN BE COLLECTED FROM PHOTOVOLTAIC AND SOLAR THERMAL SYSTEMS.

Bath Fire Department Conceptual Design
AS THE MODERN FIRE TRUCK APPARATUS GROWS IN SIZE, SO DOES THE REQUIRED SPACE FOR STORAGE. THE GOAL OF BATH FIRE DEPARTMENT CONCEPTUAL DESIGN WAS TO PROVIDE THE CITY WITH A NEW FACILITY THAT WOULD SUPPORT ALL THE NECESSARY PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS. THE DESIGN AESTHETIC DRAWS FROM THE ARCHITECTURAL MOTIFS OF THE ADJACENT MORSE HIGH SCHOOL. PROGRAMMATICALLY, THE BUILDINGS ORGANIZATION FOCUSSES ON THE KEY ADJACENCIES THAT MAKE A FIRE STATION RUN SMOOTHLY AND EFFICIENTLY.

UNH: IDDLES LECTURE HALLS
AS PART OF THE CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, THIS PROJECT CONSISTED OF ACCESSIBILITY UPGRADES TO MULTIPLE CHEMISTRY LECTURE HALLS, AS WELL AS DESIGNING A NEW STUDENT COMMONS SPACE. DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM THE EXISTING HEXAGONAL SHAPED LECTURE HALLS, THE CHOICE OF CARPET STYLES AS WELL AS THE ACOUSTIC PANEL DESIGN WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE CONCEPT.
