GEOGRAPHY : GALICIA , CAMBRE AND O TEMPLE

Where are we ?? Introduction O temple ( A Coruña ) is just at the corner of the Iberian peninsula where the waters of a little river “meet” the ocean and not very far from medieval river mills and from an old way, the Saint Jacob’s way (the English Pilgrimage Route as it’s known in this place ) with an ancient stone bridge . The weather is rather wet in this area , some days it’s covered by mists and fog, ,rainy days are usual here , but we enjoy nice days with a moderate climate most of year and that’s the place to which we áre going to describe in order to help you to situate us .

O Temple – Cambre - A Coruña – Galicia- Spain We live in an autonomous region in the north west of Spain . It’s called Galicia . Galicia is a land with very green landscapes and where you can find a big variety of vegetation . Oaks , pine trees , chestnuts trees , birches and elms are really common on Galician fields The past of this country was joined to the Saint Jacob’s way in the Middle Age . Churches , bridges , towns , markets , fountains have to do with this way for christian pilgrims . Nowadays Galicia is a modern country with some remarkable activities like fishing , textile and food product industries and an agriculture with an important use of modern machinery and motor tools. O Temple is a part of Cambre ( It’s a municipality near A Coruña , an averaged town with a population of 2500000 inhabitants (approximately ) This locality ( O Temple ) is situated between a main road (N-6) , and the Ría do Burgo ( the estuary of a little river when it floods to the Atlantic Ocean ) . In the banks of this estuary there are different migratory birds , like herons and cormorants. The name of Temple has to do with a very old and little church of a Medieval religious Order ( The Temple ) , the knights of this congregation were monks and warriors at the same time. . A Coruña is a town situated at the northwest corner of the Spanish map . It has got one of the most important Spanish fishing ports and it has an increasing commercial activity. The most representative monument in A Coruña is the two thousand year old Tower of Hercules , an ancient lighthouse .There are roman and older archaeological remains under the ground of this tower .
