“It’s been a great year for me! I’m doing great not only in school but also after school. I’ve met a lot of friends and even some best friends. I’m always grateful for things Jennifer, who’s my local coordinator, has done for me through this year. She’s always there for me, I love her a lot!”
– Zichen from China
“I felt at home here in the US. This year was full of great moments with great people, and I will never forget this experience! My best memory with my host family is the fact that they have always been there when I needed them. I consider them as my second family and they’ll always be in my heart. My local coordinator, Nikki, has also always been there for me. As a coordinator, as a coach, as a friend.”
– Florian, Belgium
“Sometimes everything here seems so perfect I have a hard time believing it is actually happening. The whole high school experience is incredible, and I found a second family here. I’ve also grown incredibly in these past nine months, and I’ve learned so much about who I am as a person and what is important to me.”
-
Ludovica, ItalyI learned and grew so much as a person. Every single second here will be unforgettable for me, I received an Academic Award while I was here in the US for people who had a GPA of 4.0 or above. I feel like I have developed so much as a human being. America has truly changed my life for the better!
- Maria, Brazil
“My two host families during my stay were the sweetest, most supportive people and my Local Coordinator, Missy, was the best. I was quite at first shy when, but with time I became my best self. Joining clubs was my best decision, meeting so many friends and developing new passions. I have grown to love all of these people. I will be eternally grateful for all their help, making my experience the best.”
- Julia, Poland
“Being an exchange student was one of the best decisions of my life. Teachers helped me resolve problems whenever I needed help. I became a cheerleader. I learned the exact meaning of teamwork and teammates! My host family is wonderful. They loved and treated me as their own child and supported me every step of the way. I improved myself a lot through my study abroad year.”
–Quynh from Vietnam
Our students may come from across the globe but all of them agree how incredible their experience and support has been.
Educatius’ experience of 20 years shows that a successful study abroad experience is about so much more than enrolling a student in a school. Rigorous host family vetting and our extensive, multi-layered system provide assurances to students, schools, parents and communities alike. Our deep experience and 8 years of listing by CSIET (Council on Standards for International Educational Travel) also limit risks for schools, who sign the I-20 visa documentation.
Educatius operates both centrally and locally to find, screen and prepare host families near each school. Our families treat students as family members and take care of their day-to-day needs. Local Coordinators, who live within the community, provide ongoing support to the student and act as a liaison with schools and families.
Our international students receive orientations and extra support on arrival to facilitate their adjustment to their new life and school. We continue to boost their well-being, confidence and success with regular check-ins, monthly interviews and a 24-hour emergency support line.
Some students may require additional support – whether it be academic, emotional, social or behavioral. Our specialized Student Experience team provides each student the help they need to complete their program successfully.
• Listed by CSIET for 8 years, with yearly review
• 24-hour emergency line
• 250 full-time multilingual staff worldwide: we speak ‘teenager’ in multiple languages!
• Dedicated teams for admissions, student
Teenagers can make mistakes, but it is devastating if a student is forced to return home early. Unless students are a danger to themselves or others, we focus on getting them back on track.
Sometimes a match that looks perfect on paper just doesn’t work out. If that happens, Educatius is committed to fixing it, which may mean resolving any issues –or finding a new host family.
Each Local Coordinator takes care of a small number students and is typically only 30 minutes away from each student. With an immediate emergency response time, and 24-hour maximum response time for non-emergencies, expert help is always available.
Education determines life opportunities. But not all students have the opportunity to study abroad.
Our sister organization, Aiducatius, supports children and young people’s education in Tanzania and the Gambia.
Aiducatius chose to support this particular endeavor as it is the founders’ belief that education is the key to a positive and democratic development - on both an individual and societal basis.
An international student exchange program requires a lot of travel every year. To compensate for this carbon footprint, Aiducatius supports tree planting and conservation in the Biharamulo district in Tanzania, leading to recovery of natural forests, restoration of water sources and planted forest management.
Students who choose an Educatius exchange and the schools that accept them contribute to these improved outcomes.
