It takes 6 weeks to become a local When it comes to feeling like a local, spending more time at your destination is invaluable. While a few weeks can be a good way to get a brief introduction to a city, a stay of six weeks or more allows you to really start feeling at home. Here are four reasons to try a six week stay at your dream destination. 1. Your language skills will benefit The longer you stay at your destination, the stronger your language skills will become – that much is clear. Through regular classes and real-word interactions, you'll get more and more comfortable chatting to people with your newly acquired language skills.

Desert nights in Dubai Boasting modern architecture, countless shopping hubs, beautiful beaches and a year-round summer climate, Dubai is a firm favourite for many keen travelers. Here are a just few reasons to pay this stunning global city a visit. Adventure Dubai is many things, but boring certainly isn't one of them. Get your adrenaline pumping with a desert safari, "dune-bashing" as you speed through sand dunes in a Range Rover. For even more adventurous folk, there's sand skiing and sandboarding where you can enjoy the beauty of the desert and the thrill of the sport simultaneously.
Camping The city may be known for its luxurious hotels, but that's not the only way to spend a night in Dubai. Desert camping sites feature Bedouin-inspired grounds, where you can eat and sleep under the starry desert sky. Some of them even offer camel-riding experiences, so you can soak up your surroundings while enjoying a leisurely tour through the desert.
Shopping Home to one of the world's biggest malls, Dubai definitely delivers on the shopping front. With both luxury and high street stores dotted all around the city, even the most enthusiastic shoppers will be satisfied. The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Wafi Mall are all spots to check out for an all-encompassing Dubai shopping experience.
Tradition The United Arab Emirates is steeped in tradition and while Dubai is unquestionably modern, the Emirati culture is still a big part of life in the city. You can find traditional markets or "souks" in various spots around around Dubai. Also known as the Old Souk, the Dubai Spice Souk transports you back through time. Located in Deira, eastern Dubai, it’s the perfect place to stock up on spices (and gold – if you're on the hunt for it).

With speaking a new language, comes learning slang and local lingo. Once you've been in a city for a while, your language learning will transcend the classroom. The trendy trio – an impossible choice Flawlessly juxtaposing tradition with modernity, Barcelona, Lisbon and Berlin are amongst the trendiest cities in the world. We explore the best of all three worlds below. Three cities, three countries, three very different ways of life. While they may seem similar, once you scratch at the surface, you'll pick up on subtle contrasts that make a considerable difference to your study abroad experience. Can't choose? Neither can we!
Food Barcelona: The Catalan cuisine is a crowd-pleaser – who doesn't love a spread of tapas? You'll encounter small local restaurants at every turn, all offering menus filled with fresh, traditional dishes to sate any foodie. Lisbon: Portugal is up there with the best when it comes to seafood. Whether it's a barbecue of fresh grilled fish or a portion of chicken piri piri, you're bound to find a favorite local dish at an affordable price. Lisbon: The origin of fado, traditional Portuguese folk music, can be traced back to the 1820s in Lisbon.
