Mother’s Day is just around the corner on May 12, and it’s the perfect time to show the special women in your life how much you appreciate them. Whether you’re shopping for your mom, grandmother or any maternal figure, many local shops offer unique and thoughtful gifts. From jewelry and fashion to home décor and sweet treats, we’ve been busy scouring town for the perfect presents.
At Linden Tree Gifts (lindentreegifts.com) in downtown Noblesville and Carmel City Center, you’ll discover ideas for every taste, and the knowledgeable staff is always ready with suggestions. “Our customers love to shop at Linden Tree because of our great collection of gift ideas, from candles, jewelry and clothing to Nora Fleming and Happy Everything," says owner Rori Anderson. She adds that they are happy to gift wrap purchases so they are ready to present. Around the corner in a new, larger location, Out of the Blue Polish Pottery (outofthebluepottery.com) showcases a staggering selection of hand-painted stoneware from Boleslawiec, Poland, perfect for all occasions. Owner Ruthanne Burgard recommends the bakeware, available in numerous shapes and sizes, that are not only beautiful but are also oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. She adds that teapots and coffee mugs are always a popular choice for Mother’s Day.
At Purse Strings (purse-strings.shop) in Clay Terrace, you’ll find so much more than handbags, says owner Paul Braun, noting the store's selection of home décor, jewelry and accessories. For Mother’s Day, he suggests enewton bracelets—made by a mom and perfect for moms. The store will host an enewton trunk show event April 18-20 where you can receive a free gift with purchase.

The Shoppes at 56th and Illinois cater to every mom. Fine jewelry is a timeless sentiment, and you’ll find the best selection at Petite G Jewelers (petiteg.com), offering trending must-haves, exclusive designers and classic pieces that will make any mother feel cherished. For a beautiful way to symbolize your never-ending love, book a non-stop bracelet appointment for you and Mom. Next door at Charles Mayer & Co. (shop.charlesmayer.com) you’ll find an exquisite selection of tabletop pieces and heirloom gifts. A handcrafted William Yeoward crystal vase or rose bowl makes a stunning accompaniment to a Mother’s Day bouquet and lasts long after the flowers have faded. Mother’s Day is all fun and games here, too, with gorgeous mahjong sets and pickleball gear, beautifully wrapped with their complimentary gift wrap service. And don’t miss the Monica Rich pre-Mother’s Day trunk show and Capucine De Wulf jewelry event for a gift that truly sparkles.
For handmade home décor, apothecary and lifestyle products from 100+ local makers, visit Mercantile 37 (mercantile37.com) in Noblesville. “Some of our popular Mother’s Day gifts are handmade soaps and balms, pottery, candles and our fill-your-own gift boxes,” says owner Nick Roudebush. Spend the day here with Mom on May 4 for the Moms + Mimosas event, browsing the booths, exploring the new garden center and enjoying lunch at their own Wheelers Cafe.

Indulge your mom with handcrafted truffles and artisanal chocolates, each a work of art that tastes as divine as it looks. Bhumi Patel recently opened the first Indianapolis FACE FOUNDRIÉ, an approachable skincare franchise offering affordable and accessible facial services. But for Bhumi, whose entrepreneurship is rooted in work ethic, ambition and love, this new business is more than skin-deep.
31 ABSOLUTELIVING
(promotional content)
Bhumi’s story begins in the suburbs of Chicago, where her parents settled after immigrating from India in the 1980s with nothing more than five dollars and a dream, as they tell it. They worked long hours in factories, local businesses/franchises and hotel housekeeping—anything to keep the family afloat, saving to start their own business. Their first venture was a Dunkin’ Donuts franchise, but more followed, leaving Bhumi and her younger brother with whirlwind resumes as teenagers. She hated it.
“When you’re in high school, you don’t want to be the girl working the drivethrough or cleaning the bathrooms when your friends come to Dairy Queen,” she laughs, looking back. But now, Bhumi is grateful for every moment, recognizing how those early years shaped her relentless work ethic and drive. It taught both her and her brother the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. Inspired by their example, Bhumi’s brother and sisterin-law are business owners, and her husband, Shalin Khandwala, owns the diamond wholesale business Asian Gems, carrying the entrepreneurial spirit into the next generation.
Working together as a family also imparted a deep admiration for her parents. Immigrants from India with an arranged marriage, Bhumi saw their partnership blossom into true love over the years, creating a model for the importance of relationships that guides her today. “Relationships are really, truly important to me,” says Bhumi. “Whether
they’re family or friends—I treasure them…that’s my North Star.”
With that foundation, Bhumi went on to earn a master’s degree in Health Administration, building a successful career as a healthcare consultant devoted to the client experience. Yet after starting her own family, she found herself craving the flexibility and autonomy of business ownership that she grew up with. After months of discerning the options, she switched gears, investing in her own FACE FOUNDRIÉ franchise. She was already obsessed with skincare, and in her research, Bhumi found herself drawn to the brand’s mission of making facials and self-care available to everyone with affordable memberships, convenient scheduling and cutting-edge services. Most importantly, she found alignment with the company's values and the humble beginnings of CEO and founder Michele Henry.
In February 2024, Bhumi proudly opened the doors to Indiana’s first FACE FOUNDRIÉ, on the north side of Indianapolis, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Indy Chamber. "We are thrilled to have Bhumi Patel as our franchise partner in Indianapolis,” says Michele, noting how Bhumi’s background and upbringing in familyowned hospitality businesses endowed her with a profound understanding of customer service excellence. She continues, “This unique combination of experiences has honed her ability to anticipate and fulfill client needs as the skincare and wellness industry evolves.”
32 ABSOLUTELIVING
Bhumi Patel is no stranger to balancing family and entrepreneurship. Along with her supportive husband Shalin Khandwala and twoyear-old daughter Leilani, she is excitedly awaiting the arrival of her second child, a rainbow baby, this summer and is already planning a second northside FACE FOUNDRIÉ location to open later this year.
A compassionate leader, Bhumi Patel is proud of the team she has built at FACE FOUNDRIÉ in Indianapolis. She credits much of the store’s successful opening to her manager Michelyn Zappa, who shares Bhumi’s passion for providing an exceptional client experience.
FACE FOUNDRIÉ is a new kind of skincare destination shaking up the spa scene. Founded on the belief that self-care should be accessible to all, this facial bar offers a curated menu of cutting-edge treatments at approachable prices. The mission is simple but revolutionary: to provide “all things face” efficiently and effectively. The bright, modern studio offers an array of services, including facials, brow sculpting, lash lifts, and more, by an extensively trained team of estheticians. And the client experience is as inclusive as it is impeccable, with each guest always treated with compassion and respect. “Everything we do is approachable, affordable and accessible,” says Bhumi Patel, owner of the new FACE FOUNDRIÉ in River Crossing. This unique combination of expertise, convenience and care is a breath of fresh air in the skincare industry that leaves guests feeling good and glowing from the inside out.
In the bright, inviting studio and a curated range of results-oriented treatments, Bhumi hopes to make skincare an everyday experience rather than an extravagant indulgence. The location at River Crossing near the Fashion Mall is by design, surrounded by other women-owned businesses with the same core values. “Everyone here is rooting for each other and supportive of each other—helping each other’s businesses grow,” says Bhumi.
A compassionate leader, Bhumi is proud of the team she has built at FACE FOUNDRIÉ. She credits her experience working so many different jobs growing up, through college, and in the healthcare industry with giving her the true ability to understand her staff. She attributes much of the store’s successful opening to store manager and esthetician Michelyn Zappa, who shares Bhumi’s passion for providing an exceptional client experience. “Michelyn is super driven and motivated. She has a bright future ahead of her,” says Bhumi. “I see a lot of myself in her, and I know she will be an integral part of our growth as we expand.”
Just as Bhumi is committed to nurturing her team and her business, she is even more dedicated to her family. No stranger to balancing it all, Bhumi is grateful for the opportunity to grow her family, including a new baby on the way, alongside her FACE FOUNDRIÉ endeavors. She and Shalin work hard to preserve their Indian heritage for their two-year-old daughter Leilani, speaking their native Gujarati language with her and celebrating Hindu holidays and traditions like Navratri and Diwali. “It’s really important to highlight our culture and roots for our daughter,” explains Bhumi, who plans to pass down her determination and devotion to family and business as well.

Carmel, indiana
Anchoring the Carmel Arts & Design District, the Indiana Design Center (IDC) is situated among an array of art galleries, public art displays and ongoing cultural events. Inside, you’ll find a hub for style and innovation—offering the perfect combination of product resources and professional expertise all under one roof, says IDC’s Andrea Kleymeyer. One of only a handful of design centers in the Midwest, this premier destination features a collection of showrooms, studios and retail shops, as well as events, workshops and opportunities to engage with the design community. “Design enthusiasts should arrive ready to be inspired,” says Andrea, who recommends visiting the concierge desk in the main lobby to plan your route. See innovative vignettes full of new ideas at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery; shop locally made home goods at Holder Mattress; and find living art walls at Naturespire. If you need to rest and refuel, Le Peep café serves breakfast and lunch without leaving the building. The IDC is located at 200 S. Rangeline Road in Carmel and is open to the public Monday through Saturday. Visit indianadesigncenter.com and follow @indianadesigncenter on Instagram for more information.
