FUNCTIONAL FUSION

Q&

Awith Dr. Staci Blume of Well Infused

At Well Infused, Dr. Staci Blume offers holistic healthcare solutions with customized care for optimum results. With locations in Indianapolis and Naples, FL, and franchises in development, Well Infused is redefining healthcare through functional medicine and regenerative therapies.

(promotional content)

Q: Can you tell me about Well Infused and how it came to be?

A: My husband Nate and I have owned and operated chiropractic practices for over twenty years. After opening our most recent clinic together in 2017, we decided to expand to be able to offer additional health services that went beyond the scope of chiropractic care. Specifically, I was looking to integrate services we wanted for ourselves and our clients—bioidentical hormone therapy, custom IV vitamin therapy and more advanced ozone therapy—and all expanding on the functional medicine labs we'd been using for clients for years. In April of 2022, we opened Well Infused to fulfill this goal.

Q: We hear the term functional medicine a lot these days. How would you explain functional medicine and the approach at Well Infused?

A: Everything we do at Well Infused is based on the foundation of functional medicine. New clients begin with comprehensive functional lab work. Unlike traditional medical labs that look for abnormal versus normal within wide ranges, we're looking for functionally optimal levels—that's where people feel their best. Our labs are significantly more comprehensive than even a "complete panel" in a traditional practice since we don't have to limit the labs we run based on symptoms or insurance guidelines. Our

interpretation team evaluates sub-optimal results, so even when the lab markers fall within the "normal" clinical range, we look much deeper to determine where improvements need to be made and recommend a customized program of care that addresses each client's unique health goals.

Q: How do your injection therapies offer a different solution from traditional treatments for active professionals?

A: Our regenerative therapies are amazing options for people with joint pain who aren't candidates for surgery or don't want months of downtime or just to cover pain with cortisone injections. Whether you're a

professional athlete with a damaged knee, someone who wants to continue playing basketball with friends in your 40s despite shoulder issues, or are looking for options to address more advanced degeneration, these therapies can be life-changing. Unlike cortisone injections that only temporarily reduce inflammation with no reparative capability, our regenerative joint therapies both reduce inflammation and provide actual reparative capabilities to damaged tissues.

Q: What is PRP therapy and how does this treatment help weekend athletes return to the activities they love?

A: PRP (platelet-rich plasma) works with your body's own regenerative cells that have both anti-inflammatory and reparative properties. This therapy uses a simple blood draw, and the isolation of your body's reparative platelets, which are then injected to help with pain and inflammation reduction while facilitating the body's natural repair response. We get great results with both PRP and other more advanced cellular therapies for joint pain and various orthopedic issues. The minimal downtime

makes it perfect for active people who want to maintain their lifestyle without lengthy recovery periods.

Q: For someone dealing with chronic desk-related pain, how might trigger point therapy provide relief?

A: Trigger point therapy using lidocaine helps with chronic muscle pain, most commonly in the trapezius muscles. It's different from joint-focused regenerative therapy because it specifically targets muscle tissue. This is ideal for people experiencing tension from long hours at a desk, offering targeted relief for stubborn muscle knots and chronic pain.

Q: How can someone get started with Well Infused?

A: Most clients begin with our functional lab panel to establish a baseline so we can provide accurate, prioritized recommendations. Many first-time clients also start with IV infusions— especially when they're not feeling well. Once they experience how quickly they can feel better, they're interested in exploring our other customized services. We also host informational dinners about regenerative therapies that provide a deeper understanding of our approach. You can join our invite list from our website.

Well Infused is located at 14297 Bergen Boulevard, Suite 125, in Noblesville. Follow @wellinfusednoblesville on Instagram and visit wellinfused.com to schedule a consultation and join the invite list for upcoming informational dinners.

Gabrielle McDougle of The Modern Collective Salon

The Modern Collective Salon has become Carmel's premier destination for transformative hair extensions, offering a judgmentfree space that pampers clients while prioritizing hair health.

(promotional content)

In the heart of Carmel, Indiana, a safe haven of beauty and self-expression has been quietly revolutionizing the hair extension industry. The Modern Collective, founded by Gabrielle McDougle, known as Gabbie, represents far more than just a salon—it embodies a philosophy where luxury meets authenticity and where transformation extends beyond appearances.

Inside The Modern Collective, you immediately sense you've entered somewhere special. The air carries the gentle scent of premium Davines products, while warm lighting creates an inviting ambiance. Clients relax in comfortable salon chairs, some chatting with their stylists and others enjoying quiet moments with laptops or podcasts. This thoughtfully designed environment, at once luxurious and approachable, represents the fulfillment of Gabbie's vision—a true sanctuary for both beauty enhancement and personal rejuvenation.

Gabbie's journey to becoming one of the area's premier extension specialists began in humble circumstances. "In high school, my first paycheck from Steak 'n Shake was around $107," she recalls with a laugh, "and I couldn't wait to spend it on clip-in hair extensions from Sally's Beauty." This early passion for transforming appearances would prove prophetic, as friends soon began requesting her services, even though she was just beginning to explore her talent. What sets Gabbie's story apart is how she transformed personal challenges into professional purpose. Growing up with an auditory processing disorder made communication difficult, creating feelings of insecurity and frustration. "Doing hair for my

friends helped me gain confidence," she explains. "Making people feel beautiful gives me a sense of purpose."

With nearly 15 years in the hair industry, and more than ten specializing in extensions, Gabbie has channeled that purpose into creating The Modern Collective, which she opened in 2019 after recognizing a gap in the luxury extension market. What distinguishes The Modern Collective in Carmel's competitive salon landscape is its unwavering commitment to education and expertise. Gabbie herself is certified in six different extension methods, an impressive credential in a specialized field, and the salon's team collectively masters an extensive range of techniques including Natural Beaded Rows, Invisible Bead Extensions, Habit HandTied Extensions, Luna Method, JZ Styles, SKW, Meraki Hair Extensions, Line One and Hotheads.

"Hair is delicate," Gabbie emphasizes, "so we focus on safe application, allowing clients to wear extensions because they want to, not because they have to." This philosophy extends to the salon's approach to hair health. "If we can help your hair grow healthier, we're here for you," she adds, underscoring the salon's holistic approach to beauty. The Modern Collective specializes in what Gabbie calls "fine-hair methods," customized approaches that consider each client's unique needs. This personalization allows clients to maintain active lifestyles without compromising their extensions—a significant advantage over traditional extension techniques.

When asked if clients can remain active with extensions, Gabbie’s answer is an

enthusiastic yes. "We pride ourselves in fine-hair methods and customize it to you in order to allow for this without worry." This means clients can continue their active lifestyles, workout routines and sports while maintaining beautiful hair. The salon provides detailed guidance on how to style extensions for maximum longevity, and contrary to popular belief, extensions can actually reduce styling time. "You will find that you need to wash and style hair less while wearing hair extensions," Gabbie notes, making them surprisingly practical for busy lifestyles.

The atmosphere Gabbie has cultivated deliberately balances luxury with accessibility. The environment is deliberately designed to be judgment-free, allowing clients to personalize their experience. "Clients can choose to work, listen to podcasts with headphones, or simply chat with their stylist," Gabbie explains. This flexibility reflects her understanding that true luxury lies in personalization and respect for individual preferences.

Many clients have shared that while they may initially feel intimidated about trying extensions, that apprehension dissolves immediately upon arrival. They feel the welcoming and kind energy when they walk into the salon, embraced by an atmosphere of positivity that makes everyone feel at home. "This is the experience I've always dreamed of creating," Gabbie says.

The salon's services transcend mere aesthetic enhancement. For many clients, extensions serve as a solution to healthrelated concerns. Hormonal changes, thyroid issues and other medical conditions can cause hair thinning or loss, affecting

self-image and confidence. Gabbie's team approaches these sensitive situations with compassion and expertise, offering solutions that restore not just hair volume but also self-assurance. By creating this stigma-free environment, Gabbie has positioned The Modern Collective as more than a beauty destination—it's a place of healing and transformation.

As the salon continues to redefine luxury hair extensions in central Indiana, Gabbie and her team remain focused on innovation and education, offering thorough consultations to ensure clients understand the commitment extensions require and providing comprehensive aftercare education. Perhaps what defines The Modern Collective most powerfully is its culture. "For me, owning the Modern Collective is truly about nurturing my team as artists and fiercely protecting our special culture. It's a labor of love, where every day is an opportunity to grow, learn and sparkle together." In a world that can often feel transactional, Gabbie and The Modern Collective have created something remarkable: a sanctuary where technical excellence meets emotional intelligence, where luxury feels inclusive, and where transformations happen from the inside out.

Experience the difference for yourself at The Modern Collective Salon, located at 2325 Pointe Parkway in Carmel. MODERN MASTERPIECE:

Christopher Scott Homes Creates Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living

Standing at the intersection of craftsmanship and innovation, Christopher Scott Homes has established itself as a premier luxury custom builder in central Indiana. Founder Chris Carnell recently completed a breathtaking 9,000-square-foot modern residence at Holliday Farms that showcases his signature approach: blending innovative design with practical living spaces while maintaining a seamless connection to the natural surroundings.

"Building is my art form," says Carnell, who brings nearly three decades of experience to each project. What sets Christopher Scott Homes apart is their ability to elevate concepts through innovative design solutions while leaving ego at the door. This collaborative spirit extends to partnerships with toptier professionals like Goldberg Design Group, who handled the architectural plans, and Dare 2 Design, the interior design team that helped bring the vision to life, working with the homeowners to select finishes and create cohesive spaces that feel both luxurious and livable.

Stephen Moore, owner of Chateau Kitchens and a long-time collaborator with Christopher Scott Homes, notes the impact of this approach: "Chris's 'check your ego at the door' philosophy creates an

Blending artistry with technical precision, Christopher Scott Homes' latest masterpiece in Holliday Farms is a modern marvel, showcasing how collaborative vision transforms luxury living.

Chris Carnell's work blends innovative design with practical living, all while maintaining a seamless connection to the natural environment.

A Partnership Built on Innovation

Christopher

Scott Homes & Goldberg Design Group

When it comes to bringing extraordinary visions to life, the collaboration between Chris Carnell of Christopher Scott Homes and Stephen Goldberg of Goldberg Design Group represents a distinctive blend of architectural expertise and construction innovation. For over 15 years, these two firms have partnered on numerous high-end residences throughout central Indiana. For the Holliday Farms project, Goldberg brought his technical precision to transform a challenging site into an architectural masterpiece.

What sets this partnership apart is the dynamic exchange of ideas. Unlike typical builder-architect relationships, Carnell actively participates in the design process, offering input that pushes creative boundaries. "We're always rethinking and figuring out how to make things work together," Goldberg explains. This collaboration challenges both firms to continuously explore unconventional approaches, creating homes that blend artistic vision with practical functionality.

The outcome is a home that harmoniously balances beauty with structural soundness. "What sets Goldberg Design Group apart is our ability to create a truly beautiful home with the foundation of solid structural design," Goldberg notes, adding that his firm's meticulous planning ensures builders have clear guidance throughout the construction process. It's this equilibrium of creativity and technical precision that makes the Christopher Scott Homes and Goldberg Design Group collaboration so effective, producing residences that are as architecturally sound as they are visually stunning.

environment where collaboration thrives. This mindset encourages everyone involved—vendors, subs, designers—to work together with a shared focus on delivering the best possible outcome for the homeowner. By setting aside personal agendas, the team can pool their talents and expertise, leading to more innovative solutions and higherquality results."

The Holliday Farms residence, built for a family of five with teenagers and young adult children, perfectly illustrates this approach. Originally Carnell's own concept for a lot he had purchased, the design was reimagined when clients fell in love with both the location and initial vision. The team then spent months refining the plans. "We retooled it to incorporate all of their visions and desires for their lifestyle," Carnell explains.

From the moment you enter, the home's thoughtful design becomes apparent. The open floor plan creates a seamless flow that connects all spaces, with sight lines that draw the eye through the home and out to the picturesque views of Eagle Creek and the Holliday Farms golf course. "The house really feels like you're living inside out the whole time," Carnell explains. Just off the entry, a sophisticated home office features backlit stone and custom built-ins, with picture-frame views of the golf course and pond, creating an extraordinary work environment.

The primary suite, located in the back of the home, offers a private retreat with its own balcony, perfect for morning coffee while enjoying panoramic views. Inside, rectangular "cloud" ceiling details with indirect LED lighting create a warm, inviting atmosphere, challenging the notion that modern design must feel cold or sterile.

Enhancing these lighting elements throughout the home, Intelligent Living Solutions provided smart home technology that integrates the Luxon system with intuitive programs that adjust based on time of day and motion sensors. The system can even synchronize lighting with music during entertaining, creating customized atmospheres that transform spaces from day to night.

Other notable features include the walkout basement, which serves as an entertainment hub with a theater area, bourbon room, customized glass exercise space, and a bar featuring backlit onyx. The basement also includes a guest suite that Carnell describes as "an oasis away from home."

The home's outdoor spaces are equally impressive. There are three levels of terraces, including a private rooftop equipped with a Smart Pergola that can open or close depending on weather conditions. The resort-like backyard showcases an infinity-edge pool and an in-ground hot tub with optional screening—thoughtful touches that create a seamless transition between indoor luxury and outdoor recreation.

For Carnell, the creative process is what makes each project special—a philosophy that permeates every aspect of Christopher Scott Homes. His approach combines technical expertise with artistic vision, and it always seeks opportunities to elevate designs beyond the expected. "There's nothing more that excites me than being able to be creative and bring different ideas to life for the customer," he says.
