Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About CoolSculpting
There’s no doubt you’ve heard about CoolSculpting from friends, on TV, and in countless magazine and online posts. But what is CoolSculpting really? Are people really able to easily freeze their fat in their quest for their perfect body? With over six million procedures performed, there must be something to this new aesthetic technique—let’s explore everything you ever wanted to know about CoolSculpting. What is CoolSculpting? CoolSculpting is the number one non-invasive body treatment in the entire world with more than six million procedures completed, 75 published papers, and over 5,000 study patients. The procedure is done using an FDA-approved device, which shrinks and ultimately destroys fat cells in treatment areas by freezing them through a process called Cryolipolysis. The body then disposes of the dead fat cells within a few months. Each treatment reduces fat cells by between 20-25 percent. The procedure requires no sedation or downtime. In fact, most patients go back to work or feel free to exercise and continue daily activities immediately after treatment.
over it. This device then sucks the fat between two cold plates. Depending on the size of the treatment area(s), the whole process will take anywhere from one to two hours. You can read a book, play Candy Crush, or even just take a nap while it’s being done!
How Does it Work? The process is quite simple and is typically performed in a medical spa. The clinician will place a gel pad on the treatment area and then place a suction apparatus
What Can I Expect? Patients usually begin to see results within one month. Final results generally take from two to three months. Patients can also get more than one treatment to accelerate
Does CoolSculpting Hurt? Most patients report a pain-free session. However, there have been a small number of patients who experience redness, mild swelling, bruising, numbness, or sensitivity in the treatment area. If any discomfort is felt, it generally resolves itself in a few hours or at most, a few days. Patients experiencing discomfort beyond that time frame should contact their doctor.

CoolSculpting is a great way to safely freeze away stubborn fat to help you reach your ideal body in time for summer. Seychelles A Tropical Island Paradise
Talcum-powder beaches lapped by topaz waters, lush hills, a sublime laid-back tempo...These dreams of a tropical paradise become reality in the Seychelles.

Splendid Beaches
Aquatic Delights
Mother Nature was very generous with these 115 islands scattered in the Indian Ocean, and has spoiled them rotten. Undeniably, the beaches are the big attraction, and what beaches: exquisite ribbons of pearlescent sand lapped by topaz waters and backed by lush hills and big glacis boulders. And hardly a soul in sight. Choosing your favorite beach is like trying to pick a flavor of ice cream –they're all so good! Hot favorites include world-famous Anse Source d'Argent, secluded Anse Marron, sexy Anse Takamaka and picture-postcard perfect Anse Lazio.
Diving and snorkeling are the most popular activities in the Seychelles, and rightly so. Healthy reefs, canyon-like terrain, shallow shelves, exciting shipwrecks, impressive granite outcrops and splendid coral gardens give divers and snorkelers almost instant access to a variety of environments. The water is warm and clear, and teeming with life from the tiniest juvenile tropical to the largest pelagic creature, including whale sharks. Whether you're an experienced diver or slapping on fins for the first time, there are sites for all levels.

Luxury Resorts White-sand beaches, secluded coves, coral-colored sunsets, swish hotels, slick restaurants, hushed spas. With such a dreamlike setting, it's not surprising that honeymooners and those seeking a glamorous tropical getaway have long had the Seychelles at the top of their wish lists. You too can live the high life at one of the country's star-spangled hotspots, provided you have the cash. If you’re not a millionaire, fear not. This paradise is more affordable than you think. On top of ultra luxurious options, the Seychelles has plenty of self-catering facilities and family-run guesthouses that are easier on the wallet. Ecotourism & Wildlife Spotting Charge your camera batteries, people – the Seychelles is not dubbed 'The Galapagos of the Indian Ocean' for nothing. Watching sea turtles nesting on Bird Island's sandy beaches or giant Aldabra tortoises roaming freely on Curieuse is one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences. If you're hoping to spot sooty terns, tropicbirds, warblers and magpie robins in their natural habitats, the bird sanctuaries of Aride, Cousin, and Bird Islands should figure heavily in your planning. And Praslin's Vallée de Mai is a slice of Eden where you can see the very rare coco de mer palms in their natural state.

Inspiration, Invention, Ingenuity: KRISTI SOUTHARD

It’s not every day you meet an inventor, much less a Hoosier inventor. Cross paths with Carmel residents Brian and Kristi Southard, and you’ll get that chance. In this particular case, the more you learn, the more you want to know and understand about what they’re all about. Through their company Relevo Labs, Brian, with wife Kristi, are the inventors of Touch, the world’s first aerosol sanitizing germ block. Brian came up with the idea after a long day at an amusement park, touching ride handles, using restrooms and eating food. Watching his wife spraying sunscreen on their two children, he thought, “Why don’t they make a germ block like a sunblock? And why isn’t there an easier

way to protect yourself? You wouldn’t put on sunscreen after you spend the whole day in the sun, why would you put on hand sanitizer after you are infected with germs?” “Brian hated what was out there,” Kristi says. “He hated that sticky, gooey feeling some lotions, oils, or gels leave behind. What makes Touch special are the organic salts and essential oils that hydrate and soften the skin. It’s like a soft glove on your hands after it’s sprayed.” In addition, the aerosol spray method allows for the even coating of protection on the skin providing up to six hours of protection. Traditional alcohol-based hand sanitizers are not effective when they dry. “You need proactive and consistent barrier protection to kill germs that could cause disease,” Kristi says. “With Touch, it kills more than 99 percent of germs that cause colds and flu.” When it comes to germs, there are more out there than you may realize and 80 percent of infectious disease is spread by touch. For example, “A tray table on a plane is 20 times more contaminated with germs than a public toilet,” Kristi emphasizes. Not convinced yet? How about this: According to Brian,
“Germs are also prevalent in schools, stadiums, concerts, athletic events, airports, and mass transit areas, basically anywhere large groups of people congregate.” The notion of spreading infectious disease is a global concern. In fact, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has listed it as their most pressing priority in preventing the next pandemic. Enter Touch. “I don’t know any mom that wouldn’t spray their kids and be protected. I don’t have time to be sick,” Kristi says. “We all have family, and we all love our kids, especially when it comes to their health. Our children use Touch Germ Block everyday before school and then we know they’re protected against germs.” Another product invented by Revelo Labs is called PureBrush. According to Kristi, PureBrush is the world’s first cosmetic brush cleaner with sanitizing germblock technology. It can also be described as the first dry shampoo for makeup brushes. As bacteria and viruses can live on the brushes, PureBrush was designed to clean and sanitize them more effectively, prolonging their use. Currently, one of the most common ways of cleaning is to use just plain soap and water Kristi says. As a result, this is not only inconvenient, but can cause

Having had negative skin conditions for awhile herself, it didn’t occur to her it was her own make-up brushes proving to be the culprit. “It was my make-up brushes all along that caused my acne,” Kristi says. “These are products that make life easier. As I said, I don’t have time to be sick. I do eat healthy, no sugar at all, I’m active, but it was the bacteria. I was reinfecting my skin all the time. The small, light bumps on the face from acne, using dirty sponges and brushes, if you would sanitize them it kills that bacteria. Most women find cleaning makeup brushes too much of a hassle or just don’t have the time. If they knew of PureBrush, it’s so simple to use and prevent problems.” Some of the benefits of PureBrush include prolonging the brush’s life and better skin health. One goal to promote these benefits are through the education for teenage girls at events like music festivals and through the endorsements of celebrities and other high profile influencers. For example, Kristi says celebrity makeup artists love PureBrush. Some of their clients are Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Garner, Victoria and David Beckham,

the singer Pink, and even the Kardashians. The pedigree and journey to inventing aerosol sanitizing germ blocks starts with Brian’s dad, George Lee Southard. An organic chemist with a Ph.D., the elder Southard invented the first antibacterial toothpaste in 1980 after experiencing a heart attack at age 46 caused by bacteria getting into the bloodstream due to periodontal disease. Later, Brian himself pursued a bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine, graduating from the Virginia Military Institute. Today, Brian is CEO of Revelo Labs with Kristi in charge of operations and media relations. Kristi was a stay-at-home mom, then went into business as Revelo Labs started taking off. Together, they are the parents of sons Chase, 17, and Christian, 9. While an ongoing focus is trying to make Touch a daily habit, like deodorant and toothpaste, Kristi says their next goal is to get Touch used in all the hospitals they can while seeking more investors. Getting into the e-commerce realm is another priority. “Our main message is to spread the love, not the germs,” she says. “Stopping the spread of infectious diseases especially in children. We want families and children to be healthy.” For more information and to purchase Touch and PureBrush, please visit https://www.touchgermblock.com/ and http://pure-brush.com/. s Carmel ready for late nights? You bet it is. And no, we’re not just talking about “after hours”either. We’re talking about the type of nights with the energy and fusion of music, food, and drinks perhaps more commonly associated with larger cities.
Carmel residents seeking such an experience should look no further than Bar Louie located at 111 W. Main Street in the Olivia apartment complex. Open for just eight months, Bar Louie in Carmel is Frank Sweeney’s third restaurant. His other two are located in South Bend and Greenwood. Frank says his newest location featuring a full scale bar and late night hours was a perfect fit for what the city has morphed into. “Carmel has become a lot younger, and more vibrant. Carmel was ready for our concept of a restaurant,” he says. Customers can go out to Bar Louie as late as 3am on Friday and

Saturday nights. But those looking for custom cocktails or late night food options can find Bar Louie to be a perfect option as well. The first Bar Louie originated in Chicago in 1990 as a late night cocktail place. And although there are now more than 130 Bar Louie restaurants in the U.S. today, Frank stresses that they strive to be the “anti-chain.” “We’re not a traditional bar or grill. We’re not a sports bar, but you can come here to watch a game. We’re not just a music venue, but we have music to listen to. Not one of our locations is ever the same,” he says. “Each Bar Louie strives to find a different feel or energy and to fit into the neighborhood where it’s located and feature something unique.” For example, the Carmel location, which Frank proudly calls the “Taj Mahal” of all his locations, features two stories and 20 foot ceilings, a pre-industrial iron floor, and 14,000 reclaimed bricks from Chicago a brickyard. This was in an attempt to add some Chicago flair, an homage to the original Bar Louie.
ABS O LUT E L IV IN GM AGAZ IN E .COM
Bar Louie features a surprisingly wide selection of food such as appetizers, flatbreads, burgers, salads, entrees and desserts. For drinks, customers will find martinis, cocktails, sangrias, and margaritas on the menu. Asked what the favorite food and drink are, and Frank doesn’t hesitate. “Our customer favorite burger is a spiked, bulleit bourbon burger,” he says. “There’s alcohol in the sauce so you have to be 21 or older to order.” In addition to the spiked sauce, the bourbon burger is topped with cheddar, cream cheese, smoked bacon and onion rings. For drinks, Frank highlights the Diva, a martini favorite known for its pineapple and pomegranate flavors. There’s so many to choose from though, customers should have no problem at all finding something for their tastes. Frank started his association with Bar Louie by opening up his first one in the South Bend area of Mishawaka ten years ago. In 2015,
“Carmel
has become a lot younger,
and more vibrant.

he opened another location at the Greenwood Park Mall. As Bar Louie comes from Chicago, so does Frank. He graduated with a finance degree from Illinois State University then started a career in investment and sales management. Although he didn’t possess any fullservice restaurant experience himself, he did work at different Bar Louie locations in Chicago. Friends from college, who would later become business partners, got together and thought about what else could they possibly franchise together? Over the years, opening up his own locations, Frank

has believed it’s important to lead by example. “We don’t have what I call ‘clip-board’ managers,” he says. Our managers follow the ‘do what I do, not what I say’ approach. We aim to hire personalities that are upbeat, energetic, and have a fun approach.” You can find Frank working about six days a week helping to run shifts or driving sales at his locations. “At the end of the day, we’re an anti-chain, late night food and custom cocktail martini bar.” And don’t forget the music and lots of local vibes.

SUV for millennials
Rolls-Royce release Cullinan For the first time, the British company is aiming their latest car at a new demographic of "younger, very successful high-net-worth individuals" who have higher disposable income. "When Rolls-Royce announced three years ago that it would launch Cullinan, it did so in the knowledge that its customers around the world had asked it to build "The Rolls-Royce of SUVs', with luxury, performance and usability not seen before in the SUV market," explained the brand in a press release. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is Rolls-Royce as it's never seen before. When Sir Henry Royce said, "Strive for perfection in everything you do. Take the best that exists and make

it better. When it does not exist, design it," he could have had Cullinan in mind. It was clear that these new, younger and more adventurous customers wanted a Rolls-Royce. For the first time, a Rolls-Royce has an opening tailgate called 'The Clasp'. In a nod to the era when luggage was mounted on the exterior of the motor-car (so the occupants did not travel with their belongings) the rear profile of Cullinan is a two-part, 'D-Back' format, with the bustle denoting the place of the luggage. 'The Clasp' opens and closes in its two sections automatically at the touch of the key fob button. The rear passenger compartment of Rolls-Royce Cullinan has been designed to offer the best seat in the house for the owner's particular needs. Two rear configurations are offered: Lounge Seats or Individual Seats. The Lounge Seat configuration is the more functional of the two options. With space for three passengers in the rear, it will likely be more attractive to families. The rear seats also fold down - a first for Rolls-Royce.
34
The seats fold electronically in a number of configurations by pressing the appropriate button in the boot or rear door pocket. One press sees each backrest effortlessly fold down, whist at the same time moving the headrests upwards to avoid making an imprint on the seat cushion. Both seat backs can be folded completely, creating a flat load area or in a 2/3 and 1/3 split, increasing practicality even further. Rear passengers can still travel with a long load or use the carpeted seat back as an occasional table on which to rest their personal items. The carmaker hasn't revealed the engineering tricks that will let the Cullinan float down trails, but it's a safe bet that the key lies in the suspension. The Cullinan will use an adapted version of the computer-controlled selflevelling air shocks Rolls-Royce puts in its Wraith, Ghost, and Phantom road cars. The upgrade includes larger air struts with greater air volume to better manage impacts and the persistent jostling of the chassis on rough terrain. And the system will actively push down the wheels when it senses they have broken contact with the ground, helping maintain traction.
