DEIB Initiatives

While theArizona State University charter has long advocated for inclusivity in all aspects of university life and operations, the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation is taking that premise a step further. The college’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives have added one more key element: belonging

“There are many layers to DEI, and at the heart of things, the goal of DEI work is to create and maintain an environment where people feel they belong,” explains Edson College Dean andASU Chief Wellness Officer Judith Karshmer. “Edson is guided by a set of values, one of which is wellness,” says Karshmer. “Feeling you are truly part of something - a community, a cohort, a university environment - is fundamental to a sense of overall well being.”
