UM “BISCUIT” CHAMADO CAROL… CAROLINE…

Mailde Caroline de Paiva Ball, 38 anos, brasileira, nordestina do Rio Grande do Norte, participante do reality show Bake Off Brasil ( 2018- SBT) é a mais nova eleita rainha dos cakes artísticos em Orlando. Confiram essa entrevista cheia de otimismo, superação e perseverança.

E

u sempre acreditei que as pessoas nascem com talentos, nós só precisamos desenvolve-los. Já era notável desde as brincadeiras de boneca que eu tinha habilidades manuais para a arte. Na escola sempre me destaquei nessa matéria, adorava fazer maquetes ou cartazes desenhados a mão. Aos 16 anos decidi aprender sozinha caligrafia artística e essa tornou-se minha primeira profissão. Passei a caligrafar convites de casamento, formaturas e 15 anos, principalmente para eventos da alta sociedade. Mesmo sendo muito jovem era muito requisitada, pois não havia mais ninguém que o fizesse em minha cidade. Em 2003, houve a descoberta do ‘biscuit”( Air dry Clay) no mundo do artesanato e eu comecei a praticar, aprendendo rapidamente as técnicas de modelagem nessa pasta. Já casada, aos 21 anos, e fazendo faculdade de Letras Inglês, deixei meu estágio de professora para me dedicar ao artesanato. Fiz de tudo um pouco...costura, enxoval de bebê, quadro miniatura, figuras de biscuit, crochê, fantasias para crianças, decoração de aniversário, até que finalmente encontrei os bolos artísticos. A experiência com a modelagem em biscuit me preparou muito. Não haviam tantas ferramentas, moldes e produtos como hoje em dia. Tinha que usar de muita criatividade.

No início, fazia bolo para familiares e amigos, sem cobrar nenhum valor. Até que chegou a um ponto que parecia profissional, então decidi empreender. As encomendas nunca faltavam e a experiência foi elevando a qualidade do produto. Em 2017, um amigo muito querido que vivia

em São Paulo, Caio Petri, meu grande incentivador e chef da alta gastronomia, me deu a brilhante sugestão de participar do reality show Bake Off Brasil, algo que em minha mente estava totalmente fora da minha realidade. Ele me enviou o link da inscrição e se disponibilizou a ajudar no que fosse necessário em São Paulo. Fiz a inscrição e passei na primeira seletiva. Quase caí morta quando recebi o e-mail da produção do programa do SBT, me avisando das próximas etapas.

Para minha surpresa passei em todas as etapas, e com a vaga garantida, viajei para São Paulo onde fiquei qua-

se dois meses gravando o show. Foi como um sonho! Nunca vou esquecer a primeira vez que entrei na tenda do Bake Off, aquele cenário tão lindo, o dia que pude conversar com os jurados, que antes eu só via pela TV. Em julho de 2018 as gravações terminaram e eu voltei para casa com decisões muito difíceis a tomar, na verdade a decisão mais difícil da minha vida. Eu teria que enfrentar uma situação que há 15 anos se rastejava, um relacionamento abusivo. Era uma situação muito delicada. Só eu sei. Precisava recomeçar minha vida, me divorciar. Eu sabia que não teria apoio dos meus pais ( que cresceram numa sociedade antiquada e extre-

mamente machista) , sabia que a única coisa que eu tinha para sobreviver era o meu trabalho.

Uma amiga que morava em Utah sempre me falava como meu talento seria mais valorizado aqui nos EUA. Foi a primeira vez que pensei em migrar. Eu não tinha uma boa perspectiva do meu futuro se eu continuasse onde estava, eu precisava de um recomeço, era tudo ou nada. Juntei minhas economias e tirei meu visto. Cheguei em março de 2019 em Utah, ainda inverno, congelando. Aluguei um quarto e fiquei com $150 para passar o resto do mês e começar a trabalhar o mais rápido possível. Cheguei a fazer serviço de baby sitter e housecleaning, mas logo encontrei uma parceria com uma pessoa que fazia catering para casamento. A parceria durou até setembro de 2019, quando abri minha própria empresa, Sugar Lake Cakes, junto com meu segundo marido, Camden Ball. Sim, eu sou ligeira, já perdi muito tempo na vida.

Em fevereiro de 2020 decidimos mudar para Flórida, por causa do clima e pelo proximidade geográfica com o Brasil. Como uma boa nordestina odeio frio e neve. É lindo para passear mas para morar nunca mais!

Assim que chegamos a pandemia assolou o mundo e tive que parar todas as encomendas durante esse tempo. Aproveitei esse tempo para tirar meu Certificado de Food Handler, com classes especiais sobre como trabalhar com produção de alimentos nessa pandemia de Covid. Fui retornando aos poucos até conseguir me vacinar, e agora, ainda tomando todos os cuidados, tenho bolos agendados semanalmente. A comunidade brasileira foi maravilhosamente receptiva comigo e tenho muitas clientes que se tornaram minhas amigas.

DO PICADEIRO DO CIRCO, AO SUCESSO

MILIONÁRIO

ascido no Recife em 1978, Andrey Medeiros tem nas veias a arte e a magia do circo. Sua mãe era da segunda geração familiar de artistas circenses. Casou-se com um advogado criminalista, deixou o circo para ser mãe e esposa, dando início a uma família que mais tarde, seria composta apenas por ela e seus filhos. Andrey é a terceira geração da família circense e após o falecimento de sua mãe, ainda muito jovem, optou por seguir seus passos com apenas 11 anos. Sua carreira deu início no “Romero’s Circus”, onde após a perda de sua mãe e de momentos extremamente difíceis e delicados, seus tios Geraldo Romero e Rita de Cássia, circenses , viram em Andrey e em seu irmão, a necessidade do acolhimento, amor e muito talento.

E alí se formava a nova família do Andrey, na qual ele tem imensa gratidão ao seus tios Geraldo e Rita de Cássia, que lhes ensinaram o caminho do bem, da empatia, honestidade e amor. Foi na acrobacia que Andrey se descobriu nesse mundo de alegria e encantamentos, onde mais tarde lhe rendeu uma vaga no “Grande Circo Popular do Brasil” sob o comando do ator e circense Marcos Frota. A carreira do Andrey estava apenas começando. Após o Circo do Marcos Frota, muitas outras oportunidades abrilhantaram seu currículo circense, “Circo Arte Palácio”, “Circo Neves” e enfim o tão sonhado “Beto Carreiro World”. Foi uma porta para novas oportunidades, era uma vitrine para um acrobata talentoso como Andrey que fez jus a esse mundo herdado por sua mãe. No Circo Beto Carreiro, um empresário alemão descobriu aquele talentoso acrobata, e com uma idéia digna de tacada de mestre, que seria a de unir a acrobacia, capoeira, axé e samba, fez

com que Andrey tivesse a oportunidade de viajar o mundo todo com sua arte somada a cultura brasileira. A Alemanha foi a primeira parada com o espetáculo brasileiro chamado “Circo do Brasil”, posteriormente Inglaterra, no Olympia Theater, onde os The Beatles fizeram seu primeiro show profissional em Liverpool… Italia foi o terceiro país a receber o circo, A TV Italia os convidou para uma apresentação na Suíça, em nome da TV Italiana apresentando o “Circo Scotch”, e assim, voltando para a Italia, o contrato para os EUA aconteceu para o “Cole Bross”.

Em 2003 Andrey chega aos EUA, onde firmaria residência, formaria família e transformaria sua história. Trabalhou 3 anos na mesma companhia que lhe deu sua primeira oportunidade de trabalho; Casou no picadeiro do circo, e foi pai um ano depois do seu amado filho KRISTOFER, após o nascimento, Andrey e sua esposa criaram um ato único que os levou para o maior circo dos EUA, e assim foram para o “Rigling Bross and Barney Baley”. Após 2 anos de contrato foi criado um número diferenciado, que teve um sucesso arrebatador, assim gerando mais 2 anos de contrato junto a esse renomado espetáculo nos EUA, que por fim, deu-se a chegada da despedida dos picadeiros da vida para Andrey e sua família. Mas não foi de uma maneira feliz, pois um grave acidente aconteceu em uma apresentação, onde a estrutura que se apresentavam desmoronou, deixando os profissionais feridos e entre eles a sua esposa. Foi traumático e difícil, fazendo com que Andrey se despedisse e passasse por momentos de reclusão e tristeza. Foram 9 meses perdido em si mesmo, sem rumo e sem saber o que faria da vida profissionalmente. Mas era chegado o momento de se reerguer,

seguir e explorar novos universos dentro desse país cheio de oportunidades.

Seu segundo filho ALEXANDER nasceu em 2016 e com ele nascia novos horizontes e ideias na vida do Andrey. O início foi em uma pequena companhia de RV Repair ( Motor homes) que nada tinha a ver com sua vida circense, era um mundo novo para Andrey… ERRADO! As famílias circenses viajam o mundo em seus trailers/ motor homes e mais uma vez a alma do circo estava lá. Era um hobby para Andrey estar de alguma forma reparando e concertando trailers/

motor homes dos amigos nos tempos do circo, a intenção era ajudar sempre, pois Andrey sempre foi uma pessoa de coração nobre, e que sempre esteve a disposição quando recorriam a sua ajuda. Foram 6 meses nessa primeira companhia até aparecer a proposta da corporação RV One, onde se destacou como profissional e em 1 ano recebeu 3 promoções, o fato de falar 5 idiomas ajudou muito com os clientes.

Após 2 anos aprimorando o que já conhecia muito bem, decidiu caminhar com as próprias pernas, era um sonho ter seu próprio negócio… abrindo sua própria companhia no mesmo ramo, fazendo consertos locais nas casas dos clientes.

Mas Andrey queria mais, queria fazer a empresa acontecer, e 30 dias depois

veio seu primeiro espaço físico. Juntou coragem e vontade e fez um empréstimo no valor de 80.000,00 dólares, assim nascia a “KA RV Repair” onde levava a iniciais de seus filhos, muito profissionalismo, honestidade e amor, fazendo desse empréstimo a empresa milionária e renomada que é a “KA RV Repair” nos dias de hoje. Seu primeiro funcionário foi seu ex chefe, que foi de extrema importância no início dessa caminhada de sucesso, mas em pouco tempo veio o primeiro desafio, afinal a vida não são só flores, e as dificuldades bateram no porta logo no início. Seu amigo, ex chefe e atual funcionário na época, precisou se ausentar por questões de saúde, onde veio a partir precocemente, na qual Andrey tem profunda gratidão e respeito. Sozinho, sem aquele que era um suporte em todos os sentidos dentro da empresa que acabara de nascer, Andrey estava praticamente sem dinheiro, com apenas o aluguel daquele mesmo mês. Mas aí vem a reviravolta. Uma empresa do Texas o contacta para refazer os pisos de 10 trailers, na qual dias depois, Andrey recebe a visita do proprietário dessa empresa, onde passa suas ideias sobre melhorias que, mais tarde seriam aplicadas na empresa desse senhor, que era muito bem sucedido no ramo.

Muitas portas se abriram após isso e Andrey acredita que ter empatia e ajudar o próximo, faz com que tudo volte para sí. E dessa forma, a empresa pôde seguir e continuar. Abriu portas para trabalhos diretos com as autorizadas, e Andrey seguiu firme com sua experiência e

humildade de aprender o que ainda não sabia. Hoje a “KA RV Repair” está no mercado há 5 anos, e com uma reputação inabalável e de orgulhar a nossa comunidade brasileira, pois está no topo da lista do Google Review, por oferecer um serviço de excelência, perfeição, seriedade e respeito ao cliente. São 17 funcionários, entre eles alguns brasileiros na equipe. E vale mencionar que a “KA RV Repair” é a única companhia nos EUA que o proprietário é brasileiro e dá oportunidades aos conterrâneos brasileiros em sua empresa.

Seu próximo projeto é construir um novo local com aproximadamente 10 acres, com serviços diferenciados, estando en-

tre eles o camping, bastante procurado para quem quer passar uns dias relaxando, ou agitando em família ou amigos.

“Somos os únicos a ir até o cliente para dar orçamentos, assim fidelizando e estreitando laços com cada um deles. Estamos aprimorando o serviço de colisão, que já é existente e iremos oferecer serviços como storage e camping” diz Andrey Medeiros aos amantes, admiradores ou simplesmente curiosos do mundo do Motor homes.

IMIGRAÇÃO

O

país hoje conhecido como Estados Unidos, iniciou sua história como uma nação de imigrantes, seus primeiros habitantes chegaram aqui cruzando um trecho de terra que conectava a Ásia à América, há mais de milhares de anos atrás. Os primeiros assentamentos foram estabelecidos em 1500 pelos Europeus, liderados pelos Espanhóis e Franceses e em 1607, os ingleses fundaram o primeiro assentamento em Jamestown na Colonia de Virgínia.Muitos dos primeiros habitantes vieram ao país buscando liberdade religiosa, os peregrinos escapavam a perseguição religiosa na Europa e se estabeleceram no que hoje é Plymouth, Massachusetts, seguidos pelos Puritanos, que estabeleceram a Colonia da Baía de Massachusetts. Grande parcela chegou no país sobre regime de servidão contratada, ou contra sua vontade em regime de escravidão. A maioria dos imigrantes, contudo, buscavam oportunidades econômicas.

No século 19, o movimento imigratório foi fundamental para a história americana. Nesta época o país incentivava a vinda de imigrantes para popular áreas desabitadas e tinha uma política de imigração relativamente irrestrita até o advento da Guerra Civil.Entre o período de 1900 a 1950 quase 24 milhões de pessoas imigraram para os Estados Unidos em um movimento conhecido como “A Grande Onda”. O advento da Primeira Guerra Mundial reduziu o influxo de imigrantes, mas retomou com intensidade após sua conclusão levando o Congresso a implementar uma séria de políticas imigratórias. Desde então a política imigratória dos Estados Unidos tem sido expandida e restringida dependendo do governo atuante e políticas mundiais.

O governo atual tem por vontade política acolher novos imigrantes e regularizar o status imigratório de milhares de imigrantes que chamam os Estados Unidos de lar, mas estão à margem do sistema por não possuírem status. Em alinhamento com essa vontade política, no dia 2 de fevereiro em 2021 foi promulgada a Ordem Executiva 14012. A Ordem Executiva 14012 do Presidente Biden visa restaurar a confiança no sistema imigratório americano e reforçar integração e inclusão para Novos Americanos. A Ordem Execu-

tiva reconhece a força e importância dos imigrantes na economia americana e busca assegurar que as leis e políticas internas do país promovam a integração, inclusão e cidadania desses indivíduos, mais especificamente, a medida estipula que o Secretário do Departamento de Segurança Nacional (DHS) “identifique qualquer ação da agência que deixe de promover o acesso ao sistema legal de imigração.”

A Ordem Executiva 14012 versa em seu primeiro parágrafo que mais de 40 milhões de estrangeiros vivem hoje nos Estados Unidos e milhares de americanos são de descendência estrangeira. Em seguida reconhece que os novos americanos e suas famílias fomentam a economia americana em todos os segmentos da indústria através do seu empreendedorismo, criando milhões de empregos e contribuindo para a arte, cultura e diversidade do país.

O governo atual reconhece a importante função do imigrante na sociedade americana, tanto no âmbito econômico, como cultural e busca incentivar medidas públicas que transpareçam tal reconhecimento. Contudo é crucial entender que há uma diferença fundamental entre acolher imigrantes e conceder com o infringimento de leis imigratórias. Deste modo, o governo atual está buscando meios de acolher novos americanos através de mudanças de políticas internas, propostas de leis e promulgação de decreto, e segue aplicando corretamente a lei imigratória e suas consequências para aqueles que as infringe e/ou tenta burlá-las.

Nas palavras do Presidente Biden, “Consistente com nosso caráter de nação de oportunidade e boas-vindas, é essencial assegurar que nossas leis e políticas incentivem a participação por imigrantes, incluindo os refugiados, em nossa vida cívica”. A proposta é que o governo federal desenvolva estratégias para promover a integração, inclusão, e cidadania de imigrantes, de modo a acolher a participação integral de novos Americanos na democracia desta nação, e não ser permissivo com aqueles que se conduzem contrários às leis.

lá leitores da coluna além da mesa posta ! Não é maio mês das noivas e de esplendorosos casamentos, mas aconteceu em Orlando, no sunset do dia 31 de julho, um casamento intimista para familiares e amigos, e eu pude realizar junto com a decoradora Cléo Wallace a MESA POSTA para 40 pessoas, que prestigiaram e estiveram presentes neste dia em que, com a mesa posta se tornou muito mais especial!

Quando se une duas coisas que amamos muito (a mesa posta e casamento) o resultado só pode ser fantástico e muito mais completo. A escolha das cores elegantes deste dia, partiu da louça escolhida , gold com branco , os guardanapos de linho em tom cru de ponto ajour, e os porta guardanapos de acrílicos transparentes não brigaram de maneira alguma com os tons pastéis das 5 mesas , e para romantizar tudo isso e o grande dia, no centro de mesa usei as rosas vermelhas que caíram como uma luva e ornamentou muito com o ar

romântico que um casamento trás.

Outro espaço lindo e interessante que criei foi a mesa dos noivos ao centro do salão, abaixo de um lustre grandioso com uma toalha de renda renascença que trás com ela a história da família nordestina de muito bom gosto , a mesa ficou clean, elegante e cheia de mimos com frases para que os noivos se sentissem honrados; mas as flores usadas para os noivos foram os copos de leites por abrir, super minimalista ao gosto da noiva que é super discreta.

A realização de cada assento para que cada pessoa se sentisse especial é o propósito mais profundo de uma MESA POSTA decorada, e a minha expectativa é que este propósito se cumpra sempre nas famílias de Orlando e ao redor do mundo inteiro, para que dias comuns se tornem em memoriais de lembranças ao redor da mesa. Um brinde aos noivos e a mesa posta em todos os casamentos!!!

INGREDIENTES: 1 polvo de aproximadamente 1kg 1/2 bell pepper amarela 1/2 bell pepper vermelha 1 cebola roxa 1 tomate 1 manga 1/2 pimenta jalapeño 1 pimenta pepperonconi Suco de 1 limão siciliano Raspas de 1/2 limão siciliano 100ml de azeite 1 colher de sopa de salsinha picada Sal Pimenta do reino MODO DE PREPARO: Cozinhe o polvo em água fervilhando (simmering) entre 45min e 1h, até enfiar um garfo na parte mais grossa do tentáculo e sair fácil). Retire da água e corte em cubos. Reserve.

Pique a cebola, o tomate, as bell peppers e a manga em cubos um pouco menores. Reserve.

Pique as pimentas jalapeño e pepperonconi em cubos muito pequenos. Reserve.

Pegue um bowl e coloque tudo dentro. Tempere com sal e pimenta, e adicione o suco do limão, as raspas, o azeite e a salsinha picada.

Misture tudo e sirva frio ou em temperatura ambiente. É um preparo super gostoso, saudável e refrescante. Fica ótimo pra comer com um crostini. Para harmonizar, indico um bom sauvignon blanc, jovem e frutado.

ão é verdade que, conforme o passar dos anos, é preciso passar mais e mais maquiagem para cobrir as marcas de expressão da idade. Pelo contrário! Muito melhor é aprender a valorizar o rosto em cada período da vida.

Lembrem-se que o segredo para uma perfeita maquiagem em peles maduras é não pecar no excesso. O equilíbrio entre os produtos utilizados e a suavidade das cores criam um efeito harmônico e não deixam a pele marcada ou craquelado demais.

Para isso temos truques que te ajudam a conseguir um efeito aveludado e bonito.

1 - A escolha dos produtos é muito importante. Com a idade, a pele tende a ficar um pouco mais seca do que era antes, então investir em makes que tenham o fator hidratante é o ideal.

Utilizar produtos específicos para a pele madura, desenvolvidos com alta tecnologia, faz toda diferença. Limpar muito bem a pele, tonificar, hidratar e usar um bom primer específico para pele madura, a deixa mais viçosa e jovial.

2 - Nada de utilizar produtos muito adstringentes para limpar a pele.

Ao tirar demais a oleosidade natural da pele, ela fica muito seca. E, quanto mais ressecada estiver, menos elástica e flexível ficará para receber os produtos, como base e corretivo, comprometendo o resultado.

3 – A base é importantíssima para disfarçar imperfeições. A mulher mais madura deve priorizar itens de maquiagem com tratamento, uma base com ativos anti-idade e efeito lifting, por exemplo. Evite pó e bases com cobertura seca 4 – Use sombras claras e opacas, super recomendado para levantar o olhar. E, para o dia a dia use máscara marrom nos cílios que deixa o visual leve e chic.

5 – E por último e não menos importante, os lábios também precisam de hidratação.

Antes da aplicação do batom, principalmente se for matte, aplicar um pouco de bálsamo para hidratar.

A dica são os produtos sem brilho, em tons rosados ou terrosos. Mas se você é fã do batom vermelho, o produto exige mais atenção. Na hora de usar o batom vermelho é necessário fazer o contorno com o lápis para evitar que o batom escorra para fora do contorno dos lábios.

A “QUEEN” CALLED CAROL… CAROLINE…

Mailde Caroline de Paiva Ball, 38, Brazilian, from Rio Grande do Norte(Northeastern Brazil), participant of the reality show Bake Off Brazil (2018- SBT), is the newest elected queen of artistic cakes in Orlando. Check out this interview full of optimism, resilience, and perseverance.

I

’ve always believed that people are born with talents; we just need to develop them. It was already remarkable, since I played with dolls, that I had art skills. At school, I always excelled in this subject; I loved making models and hand-drawn posters. At 16, I decided to learn artistic calligraphy on my own, which became my first profession. I started handwriting invitations for weddings, graduations, and Sweet 15 parties, mainly for high society events.

Even though I was very young, I was highly sought after by people, as there was no one else who did it in my city. In 2003, there was the discovery of the ‘biscuit’ (Air dry Clay) in the world of crafts, and I started to practice, quickly learning the techniques of modeling this paste. At 21, I was already married and studying English Language Arts in College, and I quit my teaching internship to dedicate myself to crafts. I did a little of everything...sewing, baby layette, miniature painting, biscuit (air dry clay) figures, crochet, children’s costumes, birthday decorations until I finally encountered artistic cakes. The experience with biscuit modeling helped me a lot. At that time, there weren’t as many tools, molds, and products as today. I had to use a lot of creativity.

In the beginning, I baked cakes for family and friends, free of charge. Until it got to the point where it looked professional, so I decided to start my business. Orders began to be frequent, and the experience was improving the quality of the product. In 2017, a dear friend who lived in São Paulo, Caio Petri, my great supporter and chef of haute cuisine,

gave me the brilliant suggestion to participate in the reality show Bake Off Brasil, something that, in my view, was totally unreachable. He sent me the application link and made himself available to help me with whatever I needed in São Paulo. I registered and passed the first audition.

I almost had a stroke when I received the e-mail from the production of the SBT show, telling me of the next steps.

To my surprise, I passed all the stages, and with a guaranteed spot in the show, I traveled to São Paulo, where I spent almost two months filming. It was like a dream! I will never forget the first time I entered the Bake Off tent,

me so warmly, and I have many clients who have become my friends.

A friend who lived in Utah always told me how my talent would be more valued here in the US. It was the first time I thought about emigrating. I didn’t have a reasonable prospect of my future if I stayed where I was; I needed a fresh start; it was all or nothing. I gathered my savings and got my visa.

I arrived inUtah in March 2019, still winter, freezing. I rented a room and had $150 left to make do with for the rest of the month. I needed to get to work as soon as possible. I even did babysitting and housecleaning, but soon I found a partnership with a person who worked with catering for weddings.

The partnership lasted until September 2019, when I started my own company, Sugar Lake Cakes, with my second husband, Camden Ball. I know, I’m fast(lol); I’ve already missed a lot of time in my life.

In February 2020, we decided to move to Florida due to Brazil’s climate and geographic proximity. As a typical northeastern girl, I hate cold and snow. It’s beautiful to walk around the snowy streets and enjoy the weather as a tourist, but to live there, never again!

As soon as we arrived, the pandemic hit the world, and I had to stop all orders during that time. In the meantime, I earned my Food Handler Certificate, with special classes on working with food production in this Covid pandemic. Afterward, I got back to work little by little until I got vaccinated, and now, still being careful, I have orders of cakes scheduled on a weekly basis. The Brazilian community was wonderfully receptive to me, and I have many clients who have become my friends.

In July 2018, the recording ended, and I came home with a tough decision to make, in fact, the hardest decision of my life. I would have to face a situation going on for 15 years, an abusive, toxic relationship. It was a very delicate situation. Only I know. I needed to start my life over, get divorced. I knew I wouldn’t have support from my parents (who grew up in an old-fashioned and highly macho society); On the other hand, I knew that the only thing I had to survive was my job.

FROM THE CIRCUS RING TO A MILLIONAIRE SUCCESS

orn in Recife in 1978, Andrey Medeiros has the art and magic of the circus in his veins. His mother was from the second-generation family of circus artists. She married a criminal lawyer, left the circus to be a mother and wife, starting a family that would later be composed only of her and her children. Andrey is the third generation of the circus family and after the death of his mother, still very young, he chose to follow in her footsteps when he was only 11 years old.

His career began at “Romero’s Circus,” where, after his mother passed and he went through some tough and delicate moments, his uncle Geraldo Romero and aunt Rita de Cássia, circus artists, saw in Andrey and his brother the need of care, love, and a lot of talent. And that was how Andrey’s new family was formed. He is and will ever be immensely grateful to his uncle Geraldo and aunt Rita de Cássia, who taught them the path of goodness, empathy, honesty, and love. It was in acrobatics that Andrey discovered himself in this world of joy and enchantment, where he later earned a spot in the “Grande Circo Popular do Brasil” under the command of the Brazilian actor and circus artist Marcos Frota. Andrew’s career was just beginning. After Marcos Frota’s Circus, many other opportunities enhanced his circus background, “Circo Arte Palácio”, “Circo Neves” and finally the so dreamed of “Beto Carreiro World”.

It was a door to new opportunities; it was like paradise to a talented acrobat like Andrey, who got the most of this talent inherited from his mother. At Circo Beto Carreiro, a German businessman discovered this talented acrobat. He came up with the genius idea of merging acrobatics, capoeira, axé, and samba, allowing

Andrey to travel worldwide with his art joined to Brazilian culture. Germany was the first stop with the Brazilian show called “Circo do Brasil”, later England, at the Olympia Theater, where The Beatles played their first professional concert in Liverpool… Italy was the third country to host the circus, TV Italia has invited them to a presentation in Switzerland, on behalf of Italian TV presenting the “Circo Scotch”, and then, returning to Italy, the contract for the“Cole Bross” in the USA took place.

In 2003 Andrey arrived in the US, where he would settle down, form a family and transform his story. He worked for 3 years in the same company that gave him his first job opportunity; he got married in the circus ring, and a year later, he became a father of his beloved son KRISTOFER. After birth, Andrey and his wife took an action that led them to the biggest circus in the USA, so they went to “Rigling Bross and Barney Baley.” After 2 years of contract, a differentiated performance was created, which had an overwhelming success, thus generating another 2 years of contract with this renowned show in the USA. At that moment, the time to say goodbye to the circus ring had finally arrived for Andrey and his family. But it didn’t have a happy end. A serious accident happened during a performance. The structure where they were performing the show collapsed, leaving the professionals injured, among them, his wife. It was traumatic and difficult, causing Andrey to say goodbye to the circus and go through moments of seclusion and sadness. It was 9 months lost in himself, aimlessly and not knowing what he would do with his professional life. But the time to rise again had come. He had

to follow and explore new paths throughout this country full of opportunities.

His second son ALEXANDER was born in 2016, and with him, new horizons and ideas were born in Andrey’s life. The beginning was in a small RV Repair company (Motor homes) that had nothing to do with his circus life, it was a new world for Andrey…well, WRONG! Circus families travel the world in their trailers/motor homes and once again the soul of the circus was there. It was a hobby for Andrey to be somehow repairing and fixing trailers / motor homes of

friends in the circus times, the intention was always to help, because Andrey was always a person with a noble heart, and who was always available when they asked for his help. . It took 6 months in this first company until the proposal of the RV One corporation appeared, where he stood out as a professional and in 1 year, he received 3 promotions, the fact that he speaks 5 languages helped a lot with customers.

After 2 years of improving what he already knew very well, he decided to stand on his own two feet; it was a dream to have his own business… opening his own company in the same field, doing local repairs in customers’ homes. But Andrey wanted more, he wanted to make the c o m -

pany happen, and 30 days later his first physical space was here. Full of courage and willingness, he got a loan of US$ 80,000.00; thus, “KA RV Repair”, named after his children’s initials, was born. A lot of professionalism, honesty, and love made this loan the millionaire and the renowned company now known as “KA RV Repair.” His first employee was his former boss, who was extremely important at the beginning of this successful journey. However, in a short time the first challenge came, after all, life is not always a bed of roses, and difficulties knocked on the door right at the beginning.

His friend, former boss and current employee at the time, had to leave the company for health reasons, and unfortunately passed early, to whom Andrey has deep gratitude and respect. Alone, without the person who was a support in so many levels around the company that had just started, Andrey was practically broke, only with the amount to pay the rent month. But here comes the twist. A company in Texas contacts him to redo the floors of 10 trailers; some days later, Andrey receives a visit from the owner of that company, and he shares his ideas about improvements that would later be executed in this man’s company, which was very successful. in that field.

After that, many doors opened. Andrey belie-

ves that empathizing and helping others makes all good things come back to you.

And that way, the company could go on and on. It opened doors for direct work with the authorized dealerships, and Andrey continued steadfastly with his experience and humbleness to learn what he didn’t know yet. Today “KA RV Repair” has been on the market for 5 years, and with an unshakable reputation and making our Brazilian community proud; it is at the top of the Google Review list, for offering a service of excellence, perfection, seriousness, and respect for the client. There are 17 employees, including some Brazilians on the team. And it is worth mentioning that “KA RV Repair” is the only company

in the US that the owner is Brazilian and gives opportunities to fellow Brazilians in his company.

His next project is to build a new site with approximately 10 acres, with differentiated services, including the camping, which is very popular for those who want to spend a few days relaxing, or rocking out with family or friends.

The country now known as the United States began its history as a nation of immigrants; its first inhabitants arrived here crossing a stretch of land which connected Asia to America, more than thousands of years ago. The Europeans established the first settlements in 1500, led by the Spanish and French, and in 1607, the British founded the first settlement at Jamestown in the Colony of Virginia.

Many of the first inhabitants came to the country seeking religious freedom; pilgrims escaped religious persecution in Europe and settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Afterward, The Puritans established the Massachusetts Bay Colony. A significant part arrived in the country under contracted serfdom or against their will under slavery. Most immigrants, however, sought economic opportunities.

In the 19th century, the immigration movement was essential to American history. At that time, the country encouraged immigrants to inhabit uninhabited areas, and it had a relatively unrestricted immigration policy until the onset of the Civil War. Between 1900 and 1950, nearly 24 million people immigrated to the United States in a movement known as “The Great Wave.” The advent of World War I reduced the influx of immigrants, but it resumed with intensity after its conclusion, prompting Congress to implement a series of immigration policies. Since then, US immigration policy has been expanded and constrained depending on the active government and world policies.

The current government has the political will to welcome new immigrants and regularize the immigration status of thousands of immigrants who call the United States home, but find themselves on the sidelines of the system because they are out of immigration status. In line with this political will, on February 2, 2021, Executive Order 14012 was promulgated.

President Biden’s Executive Order 14012 seeks to restore confidence in the US immigration system and strengthen integration and inclusion for New Americans. The Executive Order recognizes the strength and importance of immigrants in the American economy. It seeks to ensure that

the country’s internal laws and policies promote these individuals’ integration, inclusion, and citizenship. More specifically, the measure stipulates that the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “identify any action by the agency that fails to promote access to the legal immigration system.”

Executive Order 14012 states in its first paragraph that more than 40 million foreigners live in the United States today, and thousands of Americans are of foreign descent.

It then recognizes that New Americans and their families fuel the American economy in all industry segments through their entrepreneurship, creating millions of jobs and contributing to the nation’s art, culture, and diversity.

The current government recognizes the vital role of immigrants in American society, both economically and culturally, and seeks to encourage public measures that make this recognition known. However, it is crucial to understand that there is a fundamental difference between welcoming immigrants and granting them the violation of immigration laws. Thus, the current government is looking for ways to fit new Americans through domestic policy changes, proposed regulations, and promulgation of decrees. It continues to correctly apply the immigration law and its consequences for those who infringe and/or try to circumvent them.

In President Biden’s words, “Consistent with our character as a nation of opportunity and welcome, it is essential to ensure that our laws and policies encourage participation by immigrants, including refugees, in our civic life.” The proposal is for the federal government to develop strategies to promote the integration, inclusion, and citizenship of immigrants to welcome the full participation of new Americans in this nation’s democracy and not be permissive with those who conduct themselves against the law.

BEYOND THE TABLE SET! TABLE SET

ello, readers of the column Beyond the Table Set! Although we are not in May, the brides’ and splendid weddings’ month, an intimate wedding for family and friendstook place in Orlando at the fantastic sunset of July 31st. And I was able to organize, together with the decorator Cléo Wallace, the “TABLE SET” for 40 people who attended the event and were present on this day. A day that became much more special with the “TABLE SET.” When you join two things that you love a lot, the result can only be fantastic and much more complete. The choice of elegant colors for this day was based on the chosen tableware, gold with white, the linen napkins in an ecru tone and ajour stitch, and the transparent acrylic napkin holders that match just right with the pastel tones of the 5 tables. And to romanticize The Big Day, in the center of the table, I used red roses that fit like a glove and gave the place a romantic air that all wedding has.

Another beautiful and exciting space I created was the bride and groom’s table in the center of the room. It was below a grand chandelier with a Renaissance lace tablecloth that brings the history of the northeastern Brazilian family of excellent taste. The table was clean, elegant, and full of phrases honoring the bride and groom, and the flowers used for the bride and groom were the not yet blooming milk glasses, super minimalist, as the very discreet bride likes.

Decorating each seat so that each person feels special is the most profound purpose of “TABLE SET,” and I expect this purpose will always be fulfilled for the families in Orlando and around the world so that ordinary days bring good memories around the table. A toast to the bride and groom and the “tables set” at every wedding!!!

i-HAH, and it’s in this friendly, romantic, and fun atmosphere that we start another lively article, and, as always, I’m super anxious to share with you! As you may have noticed, our last articles in this column have been more focused on the Florida area, but our state, especially our city, has become the focus of the country… it’s more than fair to highlight our beauties, secrets, and spots, right?

Let’s go straight to the point today; we’re going to tell you about our little Texas, right here in Orlando. The Cowboys! Known to many Americans and to some not-so-new-to-the-area Brazilians. The Cowboys is located on OBT, address: 1108 S Orange Blossom Trl, Orlando, FL 32805.

If you want to have fun and learn all the dance moves of an actual North American cowboy, this is your place! The bar is open from Monday to Saturday, but the main focus (when thedances with great music and lots of lively people take place) areon Thursdays and Fridays, from 8pm to 2am, and Saturdays,from 9pm - 2am.

Perhaps, when you get there, no matter how good a dancer you are, you may start to doubt your own talents when the fast songs start and the guys fire up. But that’s because there are classes with choreographies on Thursdays at 8 pm, and everyone can learn.

If you don’t like taking risks on the dance floor, don’t worry! The pool tables and bar counters will be there for you to ensure a fun night out, and you can even watch who is dancing from anywhere and be in the same vibe as everyone else.

Did you think it was over?? Grumpy of the seven dwarfs, huh? - lol - The outside area has chairs and tables where you can chat and keep listening to some good country music. IF you don’t like loud music, pool, and bar … the outside area is the right place for you.

I talked a lot today, huh? Phew… but calm down; if it’s good news, it needs to be shared!

RULES are RULES, guys! Admission is allowed for people over 18 years old. Young adults from 18 to 21 can enter with the condition that they will get a non-discreet black X mark on both hands!

Thursday, women over 21 have free admission, and men pay only $10.

Our Chef Militão Chaves is amazing, and he is always facilitating our lives with these fantastic dishes! Follow the step by step and rock in the kitchen!!! Let’s go!!!

INGREDIENTS: 1 octopus of approximately 1kg 1/2 yellow bell pepper 1/2 red bell pepper 1 red onion 1 tomato 1 mango 1/2 jalapeno pepper 1 pepperoncino pepper Juice of 1 Sicilian lemon 1/2 Sicilian lemon zest 100ml of olive oil 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley Salt Black pepper DIRECTIONS: Cook the octopus in boiling water (simmering) between 45 minutes and 1 hour, until you stick a fork in the thickest part of the tentacle and come out quickly). Remove from water and dice it. Reserve.

Dice the onion, tomato, bell peppers, and mango slightly smaller. Reserve.

Chop jalapeno and pepperoncino peppers into tiny dices. Reserve.

Get a bowl and put everything inside. Season with salt and pepper, and add the lemon juice, zest, oil, and chopped parsley.

Mix everything together and serve cold or at room temperature.

It is a super tasty, healthy, and refreshing preparation. It’s great to have it as a Crostini topping. To harmonize, I recommend agood, young and fruity Sauvignon Blanc.

Remember that the secret of perfect makeup on mature skin is to avoid excess. The balance between the products used and the softness of the colors creates a harmonic effect and doesn’t leave the skin pilled or too cracked. So, we have tricks that help you achieve a velvety and beautiful effect.

1 - The choice of products is essential. With age, the skin tends to get a little drier than before, so invest in makeup with the moisturizing factor.

Using specific products for mature skin, developed with high technology, makes all the difference. Cleaning the skin very well, using a good toner, moisturizing, and a good primer specific for mature skin helps it become more lush and youthful.

2 - Do not use very astringent products to clean the skin.
