Raline Rahmat Shah or well-known as her stage name Raline Shah is an actress, model, public figure, and entrepreneur from Melayu Deli, North Sumatra and Melayu Malaysia. She was born in Jakarta, 4 March 1985 and as the eldest of the three children of Dr. H. Rahmat Shah and Roseline Abu spouse. Her father is a businessman from North Sumatra. Once, he was a Senator for People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) in 1999-2004. Additionally, her father was also a member of the Regional Representative Board (DPD) in the year 2019-2014. Roseline Abu, her mother, is a kindhearted person also an activist of YPAC Medan or Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat since 2010. In her education journey, Raline Shah was pursuing school in Medan International School Elementary School from 1991 until 1995. In 1998, she moved from Indonesia to Johor Bahru, Malaysia and continued her education in Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar from 2000 until 2004. Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar is a boarding school located in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Raline Rahmat Shah, during her high school, has directed two school-dramas. Shah was awarded the Silver Youth International Award and Gold International Youth Award for her achievements in sports, arts, and dedication toward community services. The awards she got were gaining more and more, she was also awarded the “Best Business Studies Academic Achievement Award” and the Gold Duke of Edinburgh for social activities. Then, Raline applied her undergraduate studies in Political Science & New Media and Communications in National University of Singapore (NUS) from 2004-2008. In her major, she learned deeper about political science and got a B.A In Political Science and New Media & Communications. Throughout her college, she ever was a vocalist of Jazz club and performed twice at Singapore International Festival of Arts Raline Shah was starting her career journey as a part-time model in Singapore for Mannequin Studios (2004-2008). Raline also worked in the Public Relations department of Paragon Medical, Singapore from 2008 until 2011. Raline’s popularity began to rise when she took the liberty to join a beauty pageant of Puteri Indonesia 2008 as the representative of North Sumatra. At that time, Raline only had the knowledge and experiences about modeling when she was at Mannequin Studios, Singapore. Later, Raline got into the final and was chosen as “Putri Favorit Indonesia” based on the voting amount. Because of her courageousness in following the beauty pageant, she was offered to work in entertainment. Her first role was Riani in a film entitled 5 cm (2012). Raline or Riana in the film was the only woman with clever and ambitious characterization. Although it was Raline’s first role in a film, she had successfully done the role well. Therefore, not long time from 5 cm, she was starring another thriving films include 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa as Fatma Pasha (2013), 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa part 2 (2014), Supernova as Rana (2014), Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan as Meirose (2015), Terpana as Adaline (2016), Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan 2 (2017), Polis EVO 2 as Rian (2018), Orang Kaya Baru as Tika (2019), and recently Sri Asih (2021). Eventually, Raline in her acting career, she obtains a lot of award and amazing experiences. As Meirose in Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan film, It enabled Raline to won “ Best Supporting Female Role” at the 2015 Bandung Film Festival, receive a nomination at the 2015 Indonesian Film Festival, and Indonesia Box Office Movie Awards. She also contributed a soundtrack for the film, entitled “Kekasih di Surga”. Moreover, she insisted herself to appear in an action film and as one of the main cast for Malaysia action film entitled “Polis EVO” (2018). Likewise, it became another commercial success film that starred her.

In 2016, Raline was an intern for Teater Garasi. Recently, Raline Shah was invited to attend Cannes Film Festival 2022 to represent Asian actresses that contributed to the film industry. Aside from being an actress in films, Raline Shah has also become brand ambassador for some companies. For instance, Wardah Cosmetics since 2016. She has been the face of Pantene for Procter & Gamble in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia in 2012. She was also a brand ambassador for XL Axiata (2011), Unilever (2012-2013), Hemaviton (2014), Bank Mandiri (2015-2017), and OPPO (2017). Raline was featured as one of Indonesia’s fashion icons in 2014-2015 for Harper’s Bazaar and Elle Indonesia. In fact, she has also performed in theater, notably with a lead role in the 2013 folklore musical, Timun Mas: The Musical, directed by Rama Soeprapto, a leading Indonesian theater director who worked under American experimental theatre director Robert Wilson. Following the footsteps of her mother, Raline has deep passion for volunteer work and has initiated many collaborations with various charities in Indonesia and internationally, such as United Nation’s High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). In 2017, together with Valencia Mieke Randa and Vivy Tolgay, she co-founded Rumah Harapan Indonesia, a transit home for children under the age of 17 with serious non-communicable diseases, such as leukemia, cancer, tumors, physical abnormalities and bone disorders. The charity aims to provide a comfortable accommodation and support system for children from the rural areas who travel for treatment to the main cities in Indonesia. In 2016, Raline collaborated with 3 Little Angels to launch “Love ReSolution”, a campaign which seeks to raise funds for critically ill children in need of treatment. In 2018, Raline co-founded Yayasan Tunas Bakti Nusantara, a charity organization to develop education, health, and welfare support in the most remote regions of Indonesia On August 8, 2017, Raline was appointed as the independent director of Indonesia AirAsia, an Indonesian subsidiary of the Malaysian low-cost airline company, AirAsia. CEO of AirAsia Group, Tony Fernandes, wrote that Raline is chosen as she is “smart, creative, humble”, which is what AirAsia needed to stay competitive. He hoped Raline’s presence would allow AirAsia to stay relevant among the younger generation. Her latest entrepreneurial venture is a coffee shop named KISAKU Coffee in Jakarta that was launched in 2019. Kisaku is a Japanese word meaning “positive, open, and friendly”, which describes the coffee shop’s design philosophy. The place is a manifestation of adaptive reuse of an old and humble one-story residential house into an open and welcoming coffee shop. Raline Shah is also active on social media, she always shares her daily activities through her Instagram @ralineshah with more than 8.5 million followers. Through that big amount of followers, she always encourages her audiences to do positive things. Her confidence and self-branding on Instagram are influencing people to see the positive side of Raline. She shares her hiking hobbies and being an environmental activist. She ever said in an interview that “Every woman is blessed with beauty. That must motivate us to achieve our dreams. Every challenge that happens to our life is a chance to improve. Lastly, you do not have to be unconfident, while Raline starts her career with minimum experience.
