RCN was a transformative experience changing every bit of whoever I was in 2007. An inexplicable place where possibility is infinite as is the bond that unites a community in the middle of nowhere. The explanation I give to people when trying to explain RCN and what it means to me, always falls short of an explanation of some sort of social experiment where we play to mirror what the world is or ought to be. I wish the world was a tiny bit of what RCN is.

Supporting the Coming Generations Donating to the Campus Renovation of UWC Red Cross Nordic For our student residences, we are undertaking a major Refurbishment. As we move into the 2021, the 4th house is coming to completion, with Iceland House as the last one.

We have turned to our supporters in government and foundations for support – and have been listened to. We also need the help of alumni and others who are close to the College – to see this necessary work to its completion.

Campus Refurbishment We are in the middle of refurbishing all student houses.

The Norwegian Education Department has given an annual grant of 3 million NOK for the period.

In addition to what we have in our own refurbishment budget, we need additional support from alumni and friends.

During my years at UWC Red Cross Nordic, like all my fellow UWCers, I sure was hungry for change in the world. I would later realize that changing the world, while a great motivator, is not an individual task, but a collective social responsibility.

What we can each do is allowing ourselves to be the best we can be, and creating the greatest impact we can in our environment, whether we are at work, at school, at home, or elsewhere.

Entrance, dayroom, student rooms, corridors, bathrooms • Flooring, surface treatment, pest prevention • Replace – doors, stairs, ventilation, lights, heating, electrical contacts, new walls in student rooms • New – inventory in student rooms and bathroom, energy control Outside • Replace roof and windows; remove chimney

In retrospect, I loved everything, even the bad times, at RCN, and I do believe that it has shaped me and thousands more like me to do good in the world.

I sincerely believe that we will all be doing our part to help our HS Alma Mater in these tough times.
