Mobile Shred Incorporated will be here to securely shred any and all items you need safely disposed of (shredded) ‘on-site’ that day. After they shred whatever you bring for them to do, they will provide you with a certificate of destruction for your records. The cost per person for shredding will be $10.00. You must have cash! SPIRITED: PROHIBITION IN AMERICA EXHIBIT TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2018 LEAVE @ 10:00 AM – RETURN @ APPROXIMATELY 4:00 PM $25.00/PERSON + LUNCH COSTS ($25.00 COVERS BUS AND MUSEUM ADMISSION ONLY) Let’s jump on the bus (NOT the Epworth Villa bus) and head to Enid to The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center to see the traveling exhibit, Spirited: Prohibition in America which explores the era of prohibition when America went “dry.”

Learn about the complex issues that led America to adopt prohibition through the Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution in 1919 until its repeal through the Twentyfirst Amendment in 1933. The exhibition describes the amendment process, the changing role of liquor in American culture, prohibition’s impact on the roaring ’20s, the role of women, and how current liquor laws vary from state to state.

We will stop for lunch at PaneVino in Enid before going to the museum. Luke 14:15—24

SUNDAY SCHOOL SUNDAY, JULY 29TH BRILL CHAPEL 9:30 AM PARABLE OF THE GREAT DINNER

Some time ago a study was undertaken to address the question “What would Jesus eat?” The study investigated common foods of Jesus' day in order to determine what was most likely a regular part of his diet.

They also record different times when Jesus ate in homes or ate with his disciples, but no specific menu is mentioned on those occasions. The Gospels note that Jesus shared a typical Passover meal with his disciples (Luke 22:15) and ate fish after his resurrection (24:41-43).

A more important issue involving Jesus' eating habits, according to the Gospels, is whom he ate with. These include Matthew (also known as Levi) the tax collector, in whose house Jesus ate along with “a large company of tax collectors and sinners” (Luke 5:29). He also ate with unnamed Pharisees (Luke 11:37; 1-3,14:1-24), with various “tax collectors and sinners” (Luke 15:1,2), with Martha and Mary (Luke 10: 12:38-42), (John 12:1-3), and with his disciples (as noted above). In fact, Jesus was criticized as being a “glutton” (Luke 7:34.)

Jesus' eating habits reveal his desire to reach out to all people both sinners who knew they were sinners and sinners such as the Pharisees whose self-righteousness blinded them to the truth about their condition.

Those habits highlight Jesus' purpose for coming into the world. As he told another tax collector, Zacchaeus, “For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: AN IMPORTANT STRATEGY FOR MAINTAINING INDEPENDENCE THURSDAY, AUGUST 2, 2018 2:30 PM COFFEE SHOP Physical activity is more than going to exercise class or participating in sports. It is a part of our daily life. As we get older, how we choose to engage in physical activity changes. I am interested in talking with older adults about their physical activity choices If you are 65-years old or older and are interested in helping me learn about physical activity choices in older adults, I would love to talk with you.

Please join me for some refreshments, a brief presentation about physical activity in older adults and how you can help me better understand this important issue. After my presentation there will be a drawing for door prizes.

TOURING AND VOLUNTEERING AT THE REGIONAL FOOD BANK OF OKLAHOMA TUESDAY, AUGUST 14TH LEAVE EPWORTH @ 8:45 AM If you like volunteering and giving back to the community outside the walls of Epworth Villa, come with us to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 14th. We will leave Epworth at 8:45 am in order to arrive at the food bank by 9:30 am to begin our volunteer shift. After we work for a while, we will tour and leave by noon to head back to Epworth.

COUNTRY SINGER ERIN MICHELLE FRIDAY, AUGUST 3RD 7:00 PM GRAND BALLROOM At the tender age of 3, Erin Michelle developed a love for music. Having a mom as a music teacher she couldn’t help but be surrounded by it! Growing up in Oklahoma, Erin was involved in anything musical, entertaining audiences at local and statewide festivals, competing in the regional and state competitions, and volunteering to entertain at events such as United Way. All of these events proved that Erin was born to entertain.

This began the journey that would lead her to Nashville. Of course there were a few stops along the way. College offered Erin a broad array of opportunities to pursue her dream of becoming an entertainer. While attending Northern OK College, Erin was able to tour London with the World Traveling Roustabouts, entertain on Carnival Cruise Ships as a featured soloist, and tour with Richard Sheldon’s: Oprah a la Carte. After graduating college, Erin packed up her car and set forth on the journey of pursuing her dream!

Now as a Nashville resident, Erin entertains local audiences at Tootsies, Second Fiddle, The Wildhorse Saloon, Fuel Second Ave, Dave & Busters- Opening for Chris Young, and Music City Bar & Grill.

OKLAHOMA FLUTE SOCIETY ADULT ENSEMBLE Directed By: Natalie Syring SUNDAY, AUGUST 5TH 2:30 PM GRAND BALLROOM The Oklahoma Flute Society Adult Flute Ensemble has performed regularly throughout the central Oklahoma area since 1997. The Ensemble plays at many locations in addition to performing at OFS events such as the Member’s Recital and the Flute Fair. The group was chosen by audition to perform at the National Flute Association convention in Dallas in 2001 and in Kansas City in 2008. The diversified membership consists of professional and amateur flutists. We are teachers, lawyers, librarians, homemakers, pharmacists, managers, hair stylists, loan officers and landscapers—just to name a few of our diversified professions.

The OFS Adult Flute Ensemble will perform a program entitled "Around the World".

Selections will include Fantasia on Red River Valley, Latino Contemp, Celtic Celebration, Clog Dance, Smoky Mountain Running Set, and other popular pieces.

REMINDERS ABOUT THE POOL: We are approaching the time when grandkids and family come to visit and swim in the pool. Don’t forget the pool rules regarding visitors: All guests and family members (adults and children) must sign in and be accompanied and supervised by a resident. Residents are responsible for the actions of their guest(s) and the resident assumes financial and personal responsibility for any damage done.

A waiver of liability must be signed and a pool pass picked up at the front desk before any guests or family members may use the pool.

A mobile dog grooming company has been found that is willing to come to Epworth Villa one time a month to groom our canine residents, provided we have interest. Just think, no more lugging your pet somewhere to trim their nails or make them ‘pretty’.

Now you can stay home and let the groomers come to you.

The company we have found is Furst Class Canine. The first time they will be here is Thursday, August 16th starting at 9:00 am. If you are interested in taking advantage of this service and having them groom your pet on August 16th, please sign up in the ’Count Me In’ book.
