CEO coffees are being held every Thursday to give residents an opportunity to chat with the CEO in an informal setting.

SUNDAY SCHOOL SUNDAY, MARCH 4TH BRILL CHAPEL GOD WILL FIGHT FOR US Genesis 22:1-3, 6-34 Most people don't know what to make of the wars of the Old Testament. People frequently ask me how God's people can go from killing tens of thousands of people in the Old Testament to loving and evangelizing all people in the New Testament. Part of my response is to remind people that God does more of the fighting in the Old Testament than do his people.

Lately, however, I am beginning to hear a common response to that statement. People often reply, “I am sure that the Israelites believed God was fighting for them, but all ancient people believed that. Why should we think that God's people were any different?” This is a great question, and the Bible has a great answer.

What nation had no standing army? What other nation spurned strategic military alliances? What other nation refused to acquire the latest military technology from Egypt (chariots and horses)? The Israelites took none of these items into battle when they took possession of the promised land under the leadership of Joshua.

It is one thing for a nation to claim that God fights for them, but quite another to make zero provisions for national security. It is true that many ancient nations claimed that their gods fought for them. But only Israel dared to march around an enemy city multiple times, blow trumpets, shout loudly, and wait for the walls to collapse in God's hands. In today's passage, Abraham is given an opportunity to do this. Because it is one thing to say that we trust God, but another thing to place our own future completely in God's hands. Because he rose to the occasion, he is a model of faith for us all.

INQUIRING MINDS MONDAY, MARCH 5TH 7:14 PM WELLNESS CLASSROOM “TOURING THE WORLD’S GREATEST ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES” PART 8 Well…it has been a Grand Tour…from Pompeii, to the pyramids and treasures of Egypt, diving on the Uluburun shipwreck…to name a few of the Old World ancient sites! And now, we will finish up exploring New World historical locations in South and North America. Our expert, Dr. Eric Cline will lead us from the shores of South Carolina to the Pueblo ruins of the American Southwest. Firstly, it will deepen your appreciation for the rich archaeological heritage of North America.

Secondly, it will give you an idea of how legislation has been used in the US to preserve our distinctive heritage. Finally, we will tour Aztec ruins in Mexico. Dr. Cline’s summation: “We have only scratched the surface…every year we uncover a few more pieces in the puzzle of human history and are able to glimpse a little bit more of the Past.” It’s been great traveling with you all!

LET’S GO TO AN OKC DODGERS BASEBALL GAME THURSDAY, MAY 10TH LEAVE EV @ 6:00 PM GAME AT 7:05 PM Hey all you baseball fans out there. Epworth Villa has tickets for the Thursday, May 10th game at the Bricktown Ballpark to see the OKC Dodgers vs. the Memphis Redbirds. In addition, since the game is being played on a Thursday, drinks are $2.00 each for Thirsty Thursday!

Our tickets are in an area off of the 3rd baseline. No need to climb stairs and best of all, we are out of the sun. Tickets are $15.00 each and transportation to the game will be $8.00. The total amount of $23.00 will be billed to your Epworth Villa Account.

CROSSINGS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL CHOIR, BAND & ORCHESTRA MONDAY, MARCH 5TH 10:30 AM GRAND BALLROOM Come listen to the talented 6th grade students from Crossings Christian School as they sing and play for us in the ballroom on March 5th.

Crossings Christian School is a PK-12 Christian school in north Oklahoma City, and is a ministry of Crossings Community Church. Students at Crossings participate in the arts at all levels of instruction and begin their specialized instrument instruction beginning in 5th grade. The 6th grade choir, band, and orchestra are honored to share music with the residents of Epworth Villa. Students in 6th grade attend daily music classes and perform throughout the year.

OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY MUSICIANS MONDAY, MARCH 12TH 2:00 PM BRILL CHAPEL PIANISTS COLE MILLARD AND XIAOYUAN CAO Cole Millard is a sophomore at OCU, doubling in piano performance and music education. Starting piano at age six, he has a huge passion for music, and he credits music getting him through every day.

Xiaoyuan Cao (Nina) is a junior piano performance student from China studying with Dr. Sergio Monteiro at Oklahoma City University. In 2016, she was the second alternate place of The ladies Music Club and the Honorable mentioned in Oklahoma Music Teacher Association competition.

For those unfamiliar with the Epworth Villa Library, the Metropolitan has the first two sections of shelving to the immediate right as you enter. Metropolitan offerings are checked out by listing your selection and signing your name on the clipboard located on one of these shelves. Return any borrowed items to the shelves and line out your entry on the clipboard.

BISTRO MENU CHANGE: The Bistro will start serving Beef Tenderloin in place of the Top Sirloin they have previously served.

VISUAL ARTS AT EPWORTH ART CORNER This wonderful area is for all who have a desire to paint, draw, color, or participate in various crafts of their choosing. The Art Corner is scheduled for 9 to 11:30 am on Friday or anytime you want to do any of your own projects with the exception of RSVP on the 3rd Friday from 1 to 2 pm and Infant Crisis Services on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 1 to 2 pm.

NEEDLE WORK The Needle Work group meets on Wednesdays from 1—4 pm in the South Classroom on the second floor.

EPWORTH VILLA QUILTERS We are currently repairing an antique Wedding Ring quilt which belongs to one of our Epworth Villa residents. This is a lovely, very old, family treasure.

Feel free to stop by the Quilt Room on a Friday afternoon between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. The Quilt Room is located on the second floor almost directly opposite the elevator. We would welcome a chance to meet and greet you.
