Welcome Simmental Breeders! I want to take this opportunity to invite all cattle breeders to the 42nd Eastern Spring Simmental sale at the Ohio Beef Expo, Saturday, March 16th in Columbus, Ohio. The first thing you should take note of is that we have had a change in sale time. The Simmental Sale will be beginning at 3PM to allow breeders to take in more sales, and to allow our Ohio Angus friends to come and check out adding some Simmental genetics to their herds. The Simmental sale at the Ohio Beef Expo is always one of the premier events of the spring. We always have a large turnout of consignors from Ohio and surrounding states that are interested in promoting their genetics at this event. The breeders consist of some past faithful consignors and many new ones however the quality remains strong at the Ohio Beef Expo. The Simmental scene in Ohio is always changing, and we always welcome those new promoters of Simmental genetics to the sale. As you can see the Expo sale continues to be a great place to select your next herdsire with a great selection of both purebreds and SimAngus. The opportunity for commercial, club calf, and purebred breeders to select their next herdsire, that meets the standards of today’s industry at the expo is stronger than ever. The sale offering includes elite show prospects, functional breds, and top genetic lots consisting of both embryos and pregnancies. The diverse offspring consists of purebreds and SimAngus. As you view the catalog we have many special and unique lots; you make the selection of what is best for your program. Don’t forget to come early and take in all the events at the Ohio Beef Expo such as the many breed sales, the trade show, educational seminars, genetic pathway, junior heifer and steer shows and most importantly the 42nd Eastern Spring Simmental sale. Saturday at the Ohio Beef Expo is always buzzing with cattle breeders taking in the sights and sounds of the Expo. Come and spend the day at the Expo and find yourself at the Simmental Sale at 3PM. If you have any questions regarding any of the sale lots I encourage you to visit with the consignors. The Ohio Simmental Association has a lot of support from its members and we are happy to work with Tim Brinkman and Pam Haley for the sale. Please contact them if they can be of any assistance to you. Please contact DP Sales if Drew, Holli, or myself can be of any assistance as you look through your catalog. As always, we look forward to visiting with you at the 42nd Eastern Spring Simmental Sale!

This donor as a young cow is quite impressive being super wide based, thick topped, thick butted and yet feminine in her front one third. This Trademark donor is one of his best and offers soundness and a somewhat outcross pedigree. The embryos in the 2012 Simmental sale commanded $1,350 and those purchasers are extremely happy. Starlight is just getting started and now is the time to get involved so be ready to take these genetics home and ready the rewards. Starlight should click well with the Werning bull, High Regard. • Selling two sets of 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy by GCC Whizard 125W if work is done by a certified embryologist. • We selected Lutton’s Dream from Kerry Lawrence and the Modro family in the 2010 Ohio Beef expo. She was the second high seller as a bred. This female has done nothing but successful for us flushing great and being a fertile giant. A daughter sired by Sheriff Taylor sold in the Purple Passion 2102 sale for 10,500 and two other daughters sold at auction for an average of $15,000. Also, a bull calf by Sheriff Taylor sold for $4,500 going to South Dakota. Three steers sold last year for a average of $2,200. We are offering embryos by the Griswold sire, Whizard. The resulting progeny will be halfblood and green trait track progeny. I will have to admit at the 2010 expo we were excited about our purchase even though we didn’t have a crystal ball but it always pays to select top genetics at this first class event. You have the choice of these two awesome matings and you can have 3 of each or all 6 from one matings. Jewel is our top donor she is a no miss cow no matter what the mating she will put out a good one for us every time. Our high selling bred heifer at the New Direction Sale in Nebraska this past fall was a Jewel daughter. In 2011 another daughter shown by Kady Davis was the Champion Simmental in the BEST program, Champion heifer in the OSF Jr show, was 5th in her division at the Eastern Regional and many other wins. We have chosen to offer these two matings because they are very exciting to us and we hope you feel the same way. The Movin Forward bull has done exactly what we ask of a bull, the calves are small at birth and grow like crazy, they are powerful from behind and they have had great structure. These will be black calves that will stand out in any program. While in Denver in 2012 we were so impressed with the Grass Lunning pens that we just had to sample one of their up and coming bulls, which of course is an out cross to most of the current breeding lines. This exciting mating could even yield a baldy if your lucky. Please contact us if you have any questions about this cow and her track record.

ZW7 from the ground up is big footed, big boned, stout, rocket fronted, sound as a cat, and has hair to boot. Combine all this with her blazed face makes her an awesome show prospect. You could also like the fact that her full sister is one of Bushy Park Farms main Simmental donors and has produced 10s of thousands of dollars for them. Or you could appreciate the fact that this female is an abosolute outcross to almost any mating you could find for her including the Legacy bloodline.

If an animal is sold as polled or polled/scurred and proves to be horned, the seller shall be obligated to refund the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of the seller at the expense of the seller or may be exchanged for a polled animal of equal value whichever is acceptable to the buyer. The buyer has thirty (30) days from date of sale to notify the seller that an adjustment is in order. 2. If an animal is sold as smooth-polled and proves to be scurred, the seller shall be obligated to refund the price upon return of the animal to the farm of the seller at the expense of the seller or at the buyer’s option shall be exchanged for a smooth-polled animal of equal value. 3. If an animal is sold as polled and develops scurs, the seller will not be obligated to make any adjustment as a scurred animal is considered polled. 4. If an animal is sold as polled and has scurs, it shall be so announced at the time of sale that the animal has scurs. If it is not announced and the buyer finds before the animal leaves the sale premises that the animal has scurs, the buyer must notify the seller of the findings. The seller shall then be obligated to refund the purchase price. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT: The following adjustments do not preclude the right of the buyer and seller to mutually agree upon other terms and conditions for settlement of any dispute. 1. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing either six (6) months from the date of sale or no later than when the animal reaches 24 months of age whichever occurs later, with the exception of claims involving misrepresentation of service sire or as otherwise provided herein. 2. In the event an animal is claimed to be a nonbreeder, the animal may be returned to the farm of the seller, at the buyer’s expense, if in good physical condition, and the return is in compliance with the health requirements of the seller’s state. The seller shall be entitled to a six (6) month trial period following the return of the animal in which to prove the animal is a breeder. If at the end of six (6) months the seller is unable to prove the animal is a breeder, the seller shall, at the option of buyer, replace the animal with another equal value or refund the purchase price. Either option shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement. 3. If a female is sold as “safe in calf” to a given sire or sires on a specified date or dates and proves not to be as represented, the buyer is entitled to a refund of the purchase price from the seller upon return of the animal and resulting progeny thereof to the farm of the seller at the seller’s expense. 4. If a female is sold as “open” and proves to be with calf at time of sale and examined pregnant within sixty (60) days after sale, the buyer may return the animal to the farm of the seller prior to calving for a refund of the full purchase price or for another animal of equal value, whichever acceptable to the buyer. It shall be the obligation of the seller to bear any expenses incurred for transportation of the animal in question to the farm of the seller. GENETIC TESTING AND TraitTrac STATUS: Sellers must identify the TraitTrac status and the results of any qualitative genetic testing performed on any animals or genetic material offered for sale. The ASA considers it an unethical practice to misrepresent or fail to disclose the TraitTrac status or qualitative genetic test results of any animal or genetic material. DISCLOSURE OF MATERIAL INFORMATION: Sellers must disclose all material information concerning any animal or genetic material offered for sale. For the purposes of these Sale Terms and Conditions, “Material Information” is defined as any information which would be likely to affect the value of the animal or genetic material if the information were known to the public. Material Information includes, but is not limited to, information related to genetic tests, blood tests, ultrasound pregnancy results, disease tests, pregnancy and fertility test results, information related to the sex and age of in utero calves or embryos, and information related to the fertilization status of in utero calves, including whether the calf was conceived via artificial insemination or natural service. The ASA considers it an unethical practice to misrepresent or fail to disclose any Material Information concerning an animal or genetic material offered for sale. LIMITATIONS OF OBLIGATIONS: These sale terms and conditions constitute a binding legal obligation between the buyer and seller of any animal or genetic material sold under these terms and conditions. However, the ASA, its directors, officers, employees and agents do not assume any obligation, legal or otherwise, to enforce the sale terms and conditions agreed to between buyer and seller.
