“ “ HOW ARE WE “SHOWING-UP”? Leaders or Followers

Knowing our customers and what they need to move their herds – and the Charolais breed –forward in the industry is how we should all be working to “show-up” every day.

Isaw a headline recently that posed the question of how we show up in our dayto-day lives and in our profession. The question asked: Do we show up as leaders, followers, or do we just show up?

Nearly my entire life I've been able to witness firsthand the profound impact that dedicated seedstock producers have on our industry. And while no one in the seedstock business simply “shows up”, that question made me wonder if we’re really cognizant of how we’re “showing up” for the industry, the Charolais breed and our customers.

Every day, we see our producers working tirelessly to improve the genetics they are sending into the commercial sector, and, as an association, we’re committed to supporting these efforts with the resources our producers need to excel.

As a breed, we’re doing a great job of not only utilizing but leveraging the technologies we have available to make improvements. I’ve watched the adoption of GE-EPDs amongst our membership and seen how they have propelled genetic prediction accuracy, especially in young, unproven animals. Providing customers with the most reliable genetic information available is the ultimate customer service value-add – a value we need to ensure every customer knows they are receiving.

In conversations with some of the most progressive seedstock producers in our industry, both in the Charolais breed and across the seedstock industry, I’ve picked up on some of the success drivers they are using to market year-round. The most common differentiator for these operations is the understanding that marketing happens every day of the year in every aspect of the operation, and the ongoing use of the resources they have available to them. They are communicators and are meeting their

customers where they are in their knowledge of programs and technology to help maximize the dollars they are spending with their operation.

Every situation looks a little different. I know seedstock producers who personally deliver bulls so they can take the time to see a customer’s herd and gain a better understanding of what their goals and challenges are. Some are scheduling visits at other times of the year; some are assisting with marketing feeder calves and replacement heifers; and some are offering more out-of-the-box opportunities like a basic class on AI before their sale.

Knowing our customers and what they need to move their herds – and the Charolais breed – forward in the industry is how we should all be working to “show-up” every day.

As we head into the last month of bull sale season, I would challenge us all to think about how we can strengthen our relationships in the industry by learning more about the customers we work with. As we reflect on those relationships, let’s think about how we can communicate opportunities, share resources…perhaps build resources…that allow us to better serve our customers and the industry. I would encourage us all to spend some time on the AICA website and matching the association’s provided resources to opportunities to communicate and better serve your customers. And, as always, you’re just a phone call away from a staff excited to help you help your customers.

AIJCA NEW MEMBERS

American-International CHAROLAIS Association

The AICA is the official registry for Charolais and Charbray cattle in the United States. Charolais cattle were first brought to the U.S. in 1936. In 1957, the American Charolais Breeders Association and the International Charolais Breeders Association merged forming the present AICA.

Membership in the AICA is obtainable when the applicant has ownership in at least one animal, and has paid the initial membership fee of $125. AICA annual dues are $100.

Female Enrollments

Female enrollments for 2025 are open January 1, 2025. Regardless of the program you choose, your active females should be enrolled. There are 2 enrollment programs:

WHR – Each active female is enrolled at $16 until April 1. For the $16 you get the registration and transfer of the calf born in 2025. You will also get EPDs on unregistered calves with weight data in valid contemporary groups. The enrollment fee goes up after April 1.

PPR – Each active female is enrolled, however there is no fee attached to the enrollment. You will pay the traditional registration and transfer fees as you register and transfer the calves, depending on the age of the calf. EPDs on unregistered calves is not part of the PPR program.

AICA Annual Membership Meeting, Spring Board of Directors Meeting & Committee Meetings, April 14-15

The AICA Annual Membership Meeting, Spring Board of Directors and Committee Meetings will be held Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15 at the Holiday Inn – Kansas City International Airport, KCI Expo Center. Refer to page 21 for more information.

Commercial Committee Meeting

Chairman: Mitch Thomas

Members Present in Person or by Zoom: Mitch Thomas, Chad Zehnder, Scott Eaton, Jerry Maltby (Bob Wagner), Joe Epperly, Josh Owens (Michael Sturgess), Bruce Bradley, Sharlene Bullard, LG Herndon, Jr. (Frank Ellis), David Clark

Chairman Mitch Thomas called the meeting to order.

Presentations Given

1. Business Plan Review – Charolais Branded Beef Program AICA and MeatLink staff provided an update on a more finalized business plan for a branded beef initiative, which included progress made in the last 90 days around potential branding, potential customer feedback, reports from additional consultants, and deep discussion around supply management and genetic verification of supply. Discussions ensued around how to continue to refine the approach and continue to consider options and planning between now and the April meeting

2. Edacious Project Scope Review

Edacious provided a project scope for a 12-month research trial to establish competitive differentiation for our genetics in the terms of nutritive value, tenderness, amino acid/flavor

profiles, and other elements to define Charolais eating experience outside of quality grade. Options for establishing Carbon Footprint claims and benchmarking were also discussed, as well as cofunding with outside investment. A small initial exploratory project in this area was completed last fall, and results indicated a positive outcome for this initiative. Results from this research will be published, as well as utilized to make marketing claims in either a branded beef initiative or through opportunities with now emerging retail supply chains. Discussion of grant funding approaches and nontraditional funding support were also provided.

3. USDA Live Animal Spec & Strategy Update

4. Ranch to Retail – Updates

Ranch to Retail provided an overview of a potential working relationship with AICA, which includes retailer advocacy, supply chain creation & planning, access to retail-lead supply chains, grant solicitation, and additional industry consulting.

5. Power of Yield Industry Study

A white paper on the value of yield as modeled by the current AICA breed averages was presented-noting the impressive need for emphasis on yield grade in today’s market. This paper provided expected results in a real-world beef marketing scenario, with values identified through

boxed beef value and retail value. This information will be utilized in outreach with industry partners in packing, retail and food service.

Action Taken

1. Joe Epperly moved to approve the Edacious Project at a cost of $216,000. David Clark seconded. MOTION CARRIED.

2. Joe Epperly moved to approve the Ranch2Retail proposal at a cost of $25,000 per month on a month-tomonth basis. David Clark seconded. MOTION CARRIED.

3. Scott Eaton moved that no action be taken on the Charolais Branded Beef Program at this meeting, that the CBB Program be taken up at the Spring Meeting of the AICA, and that a proposed legal structure of the CBB be developed in the meantime. Joe Epperly seconded. MOTION CARRIED.

4. Chad Zehnder moved not to renew Marcine Moldenhauer, MeatLink, consultancy but to utilize her on an as-need basis. Bob Wagner seconded. Debate ensued. MOTION FAILED.

5. Chad Zehnder moved that Marcine’s consultancy be renewed at $25,000/ month until the Spring Meeting of the AICA. Bob Wagner seconded. MOTION CARRIED.

BOVILIS NASALGEN 3-PMH is the first and only intranasal vaccine that protects against IBR, BRSV, PI3, Pasteurella multocida and Mannheimia haemolytica.

It’s safe to use in calves 1 week of age and older for a strong, healthy foundation. And a unique BluShadow® diluent means there’s no secondguessing which animals have been vaccinated.

vaccine line.

The Equation to Build BRD Resilience in your Calf Crop

It is a universal rule across cattle herds that every calf counts. Whether a calf will significantly add to or detract from a producer’s profitability may come down to their herd’s ability to overcome bovine respiratory disease (BRD) — the costliest and deadliest disease facing cattle producers.1,2

In my decades of experience as a cattle veterinarian, the herds that minimize significant economic losses from respiratory disease have adopted a BRD resilience mindset and action plan. They work with their veterinarian to leverage innovations in three key areas: genetics, management techniques and disease prevention.

Here are some observations on frequent practices they use for stronger, more productive, disease-resilient herds:

1. They focus on BRD prevention and realize vaccination is a critical component. Calves are born with a developing but not yet fully functioning immune system. Intranasal vaccines can help bolster calves’ immunity early in life while avoiding the potential risk of maternal antibody interference.

BOVILIS® NASALGEN® 3-PMH is an intranasal, modified-live vaccine shown effective against five of the most common viral and bacterial pathogens that cause BRD. It can be given to nursing calves as young as one week of age. Use ALLFLEX® CleanVax™ nozzles and disposable shields (shown in photo) to help reduce product drip and ensure a hygienic and more even distribution of the vaccine inside the nostril.

2. They follow a preconditioning program to not only increase the value of their calves but to give them the best opportunity for the next production phase. A 2023 dataset of nearly 900,000 calves shows that those vaccinated with two doses of a clostridial vaccine, two doses of a five-way modified live viral vaccine, and at least one dose of Mannheimia haemolytica and/or Pasteurella multocida vaccine, and weaned at home for 45 days before delivery, added nearly $45 per head compared to those receiving only one dose of each of the three vaccines and weaned at shipping.3 The calves also weighed more.

References:

3. They leverage information related to genetic selection and animal breeding. Understanding and utilizing genetic selection and animal breeding information, especially as it relates to disease incidence, is impactful. It is vital to correctly interpret Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) and data on bulls to understand how this will impact the next calf crop. For commercial producers, understanding the importance of hybrid vigor is important as it pertains to calf health and performance.

4. They know BRD resilience starts with the mama cow, so they ensure the cow has adequate nutrition, has been dewormed and is up to date on her vaccinations.

5. They use a strategic deworming program. Internal parasites reduce feed intake and can compromise immune function, including response to vaccination. For spring calving herds, deworm calves six to eight weeks after turnout onto pasture.4 Deworming cattle ahead of vaccination doesn’t have to mean a trip through the chute. Feed and mineral forms of dewormers require relatively little time and labor and are highly effective. Building BRD resilience equals a more productive herd Work with your veterinarian who knows your goals and the health challenges in your area to determine the practices and protocols for your herd. Putting a plan together to build resilience to BRD in your calf crop can result in healthier animals, less treatment pressure and more profits.

GET TO KNOW YOUR DIRECTOR Hayden Englert, At Large

Hey, everyone!! My name is Hayden Englert and I live in Washington Kansas with my parents and my little brother. I am 17 years old and a junior in high school. I have been showing cattle for about 12 years. I show multiple breeds of cattle; however, I started heavily breeding Charolais about 4 years ago.

Outside of the show barn, what else are you up to?

Outside of the show barn, I really enjoy hanging out with my friends. I also high jump for club track when I have time, so I’ve been spending more of my time getting ready for the high school season since I had knee surgery last August.

What do you want to accomplish with your time on the AIJCA Board?

With my time on the board, I hope to establish a connection with our younger members. Seeing as they are the future of the breed, we need to make sure we leave a good impression. I also want to give back to a breed that has done so much for me and my life!

Tell us about your 1st Junior Nationals: My first Junior Nationals was in Grand Island, Nebraska, in 2022. I was really excited about this Junior Nationals since I had never been to one before, and I also got to show my very first pair, who later went on to become the Reserve National Female at Kansas City later that year. Everyone

was so nice, and I made so many new friends.

What are your future plans?

My future plans are to study prevet medicine and then go on to get my veterinary degree at either Iowa State or maybe even Colorado State to be able to work in embryo transfer and maybe even one day have my own practice.

What is one thing you would say to someone interested in joining the Charolais breed?

I would tell them that we love to meet and welcome new people into the breed and that we have so many opportunities for them to learn and grow within the breed. I would also tell them that they would not regret ever showing a white cow. They are awesome to work with and even more amazing genetically. .

If you could have lunch with any 3 people who would they be?

IIf I could go to lunch with any 3 people, it would be Drew Starkey, Kelsea Ballerini, and Nataile Portman!

How can we use our platform for good?

We can use it to deepen everybody’s understanding of the livestock industry and use our platform to better educate those who don’t know a lot but want to know more.

NEWS NOTES AICA MEMBERSHIP

Arnold Lee Wienk (age 87) passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 5, 2025, at Brookings Hospital.

Arnold, son of LeRoy and Frances (Marquardt) Wienk, was born October 22, 1937. He was born and raised on the farm north of Lake Preston and graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1955.

Arnold married Carol Casper on June 1, 1958, at Lake Preston Lutheran Church. That same year, they purchased their first Charolais bull, and Arnold would often say, “In 1958, I got the two loves of my life.”

Together, Arnold and Carol established Wienk Charolais, and raised five daughters Deb, Kim, Peggy, Jody, and Amy, on the farm where Arnold was born and raised.

The family’s Charolais business took Arnold and Carol around the world. Together, the couple visited Spain, France, England, Holland, Belgium, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and all across the United States. They often took the girls along as they attended American-International Charolais Association (AICA) events over the years.

Arnold and Carol moved to Brookings in 2017, and they enjoyed attending SDSU basketball games together and spending time at the cabin surrounded by family at Lake Poinsett.

For decades, Arnold and Carol hosted a bull sale on the farm, with friends and customers gathering to look over their Charolais cattle and spend time with the Wienk family. Arnold loved working with SDSU judging teams, FFA, and 4-H kids to help further their knowledge of the beef industry. They also loved to host others from around the world that soon became part of the family.

Arnold was involved with the community including the United Church of Christ and Lake Preston School. He also was actively involved with the AICA and Cattlemen’s Association at the local, state, and national level where he was instrumental in improving the beef industry through many association projects and initiatives.

Arnold and Carol have won many awards over the years with the most prominent being the National Charolais Seedstock Producer of the Year, SDSU Friend of the Beef Industry, Eminent Farmer Award at SDSU, and they were Inducted into the AICA Hall of Fame.

Charolais Show

The 56th National Charolais Show was held during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, February 1, 2025. The Fort Worth Stock Show is an authentic western lifestyle experience– since 1896. As Charolais breeders set-up stalls each day the Charolais Association of Texas provided complimentary coffee and donuts for all the exhibitors.

The 56th National Charolais Show was dedicated to Larry Lehman, Tioga, Texas. Larry has spent over a quartercentury actively supporting the American-International Charolais Association (AICA) and American-International Junior Charolais Association. (AIJCA.)

The 56th National Herdsman of the Year was awarded to Adam and Hannah McCall, AM Livestock, Richmond, Kansas.

Show Animals of the Year - Show Bull, Female, Sire and Dam along with the two new ROE Sires to acquire status were recognized and presented with special awards.

120 head of Charolais females and bulls representing 85 owners from 13 states paraded in front of judge, Clint Hall, Maysville, Kentucky on green shavings in historic Cattle Area 2 in front of a great crowd of Charolais enthusiasts.

A day packed with celebration and enthusiasm for the Charolais breed.

Herdsman of the Year

An unexpected surprise came to Adam and Hannah McCall during the 56th National Charolais Show, when they were called to the show ring and presented with the Ted Kelley Memorial Herdsman of the Year award.

“It was a surprise,” said Hannah. The couple had been showing another breed at the time and were called to the Charolais ring where Chris Peuster, last year’s honoree, made the presentation prior to the Grand Champion Bull Drive held in conjunction with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo in Fort Worth, Texas.

The young couple, who met at a cattle show in Tennessee, are no strangers to the show ring. Both are first generation Charolais breeders, but Hannah’s family history makes her a fifth generation Angus breeder.

Adam, while working for Gallagher, moved to southwest Missouri in 2012 and Hannah made the move to join him after they were married in 2013. On their farm north of Springfield, the couple raised and exhibited Charolais and Angus with Adam also taking a position with ADM Animal Nutrition in 2014 and Hannah managing the show barn at Pinegar Limousin.

The McCall’s began hosting their own online heifer sales in 2016, one in April and another in October. Add three sales a year at Pinegar, and Hannah became no stranger to sale day prep, as it was always sale time. “Ty and Susie Heavin were our family in Springfield,” said Hannah.

In 2022, the couple made the move to Richmond, Kan., where they run “about 100 cows” with intensity focused on a few Charolais donor cows, and the remainder of the herd used as recips.

“We put embryos in purebred cows and then turn out bulls, so cows are still producing a purebred calf,” explained Adam. Heifers are artificially inseminated.

“The first show heifer we bought together won Louisville as a calf,” said Adam of 5J Cigarro 924.

Speaking of “Cigarro,” Hannah was quick to add, “At 15 she is still going strong. “She’s been flushed a lot but has also had probably 10 natural calves.”

The move to Richmond has allowed Hannah and her mother, Kelley Rowlett, the opportunity to own a farm that is also the site for an event venue known as The Barn at Richmond, where they hosted 16 weddings this past year.

On Sept. 11, 2024, the McCall’s were blessed with their biggest joy as they became parents of a daughter, Merritt Claire McCall.

Adam, in his 11th year with ADM, travels a lot with his job, while Hannah oversees the everyday chores of feeding and getting ready for shows and sales.

“I’m the head of maintenance,” laughed Adam, “when I’m home there’s always a lot to be done.”

While excited for the herdsman honor, the couple faced the traditional haircut given by past awardees. “They shaved my head,” said Adam. “And they were brave enough to cut, maybe a half inch of Hannah’s.”

“My mom was standing beside me shaking her head no,” said Hannah, who after her minor hair cut was covered in cornstarch. “It was fun.”

Show Dedicatee

Show Dedicatee

True to his love of Charolais cattle, Texan Larry Lehman has spent over a quarter-century actively supporting the American International Charolais Association (AICA), an organization that has embellished the livelihood of he and his family with continuing friendships and an overwhelming wealth of in-depth learning experiences.

Headed back to his native Texas in the mid-90s, Larry barely got his herd started before making commitments of service and involvement to the AICA. After a 25-year career in telecommunications, Lehman, along with his wife Robbie and daughters Lori and Laci, made the move from St. Louis to Tioga, Texas and Lehman Charolais was born.

Keeping this new chapter in life focused on family, the Lehman herd began with two show heifers for the girls in 1994 and grew to over 100 head by 1997. Continuing to grow the herd and become more involved, the Lehmans became no strangers to junior events and exhibited a Junior National Champion female in 1998.

A strong believer that junior members are the future of the breed, Larry has been an avid proponent of the American International Junior Charolais Association, its membership and activities. Serving as chairperson of the AICA’s Junior Council since 1999, he has been, and remains instrumental in helping to ensure the AIJCA remains a strong and vibrant organization promoting leadership and interaction among young breeders. He has also served as chairman of the American-International Junior

Charolais Foundation since 2000 which oversees the investment of endowment funds that make it possible for the organization to annually award over $40,000 in scholarships to deserving AIJCA members.

Amid involvement and support of the AICA and junior events, Larry was able to grow the herd to more than 300 head and Lehman Charolais enjoyed the status of being among the top five Charolais female sales in the country every year from 2003 until 2011 and was named AICA Seedstock Producer of the Year in 2009.

Actively involved in events and activities of the AIJCA’s Junior Nationals in 2000, 2007 and 2013, Larry and Robbie were honored as AIJCA Junior National Conference Honorees in 2004 and AIJCA Junior National Show Dedicatees in 2008.

In 2010, a rare opportunity emerged and the Lehman ranch was a host destination for the Charolais World Congress. Lehman and his family took advantage of the occasion and sponsored a junior heifer show in conjunction with the event, giving junior members the chance to show off their cattle to attendees and interact with Charolais breeders from around the world.

Always willing to give back to an association that has played an integral role in the life of his family, Larry served the AICA as President in 2013-2014 and has for many years served on the association’s Long Range Planning Committee. In 2021 Larry and Robbie were inducted into the AICA Hall of Fame.

A Study in Modern-Day

Yield Value

In today’s beef industry, every segment is required to do more with less. Given an increase in finished weights at harvest industry-wide and the need to meet higher efficiencies, Charolais genetics represent a superior choice for beef producers and industry stakeholders seeking to maximize carcass value. This analysis demonstrates that Charolais cattle consistently outperform Angus in both boxed beef and retail cutout values, offering significant financial advantages at every stage of the beef supply chain. With Charolais, the beef industry can expect increased yield and profit driven by enhanced yields in high-value cuts like ribeye, strip loin, and tenderloin. Whether you're a packer, retailer, or cattle breeder, incorporating Charolais genetics into your operation can lead to a direct boost in profitability, ensuring you're not only meeting market demand but also leading it.

Methods and Assumptions

Compared at a constant Quality Grade (USDA Choice) and carcass weight (900 lb.).

Boxed beef prices from USDA Market News from week ending Dec 20, 2024.

Retail beef prices from USDA Market News for Dec 2024, with missing retail prices calculated as standard industry markup from wholesale.

Charolais and Angus average carcass composition determined using non-parent average EPDs from 2024 Sire Summaries and BIF 2024 Across-Breed EPD Adjustments.

Breed average carcass composition converted to projected boxed beef and retail yields based on University of Arizona data from actual cutout data in controlled studies utilizing nine experienced meat cutters (mean = 23.1 years of experience), combined with data from multiple published beef carcass cutout studies from various universities.

Key Takeaways

Packer Level (Boxed Beef)

Choice 900-lb Charolais carcasses would have $125 greater cutout value than Choice 900-lb Angus carcasses. Choice 900-lb carcasses from Charolais/Angus cross cattle would have $60 greater cutout value than Choice 900-lb carcasses from straightbred Angus cattle.

The majority (74%) of the cutout value advantage of Charolais, compared to Angus, comes from the Charolais value advantage in six packer products: Ribeye, Top Round, Strip Loin, Tenderloin, Bottom Round, and Lean Trimmings. These per-head advantages multiplied by a load, pen, shift, or week head count would result in huge value differences.

Entire Industry (Packer and Retailer)

Choice 900-lb Charolais carcasses would have $201 greater retail cutout value than Choice 900-lb Angus carcasses.

Choice 900-lb carcasses from Charolais/Angus cross cattle would have $97 greater retail cutout value than Choice 900lb carcasses from straightbred Angus cattle.

The majority (76%) of the retail cutout value advantage of Charolais, compared to Angus, comes from the Charolais value advantage in six retail beef products: Ribeye Steaks, Strip Steaks, Top Round Roasts, Bottom Round Roasts, Tenderloin Steaks, and Ground Beef.

Retail cutout value advantages of Charolais would be most realized in case-ready programs and vertically-integrated or vertically-coordinated beef programs.

Selling a flush and embryos by JMAR Jefferson 8M11 and embryos by FH Gun Runner 2024. This outstanding individual has been making good ones for a long time. She is a full sister to 484 and 599, the cows the breed is talking about.

EPD EVALUATION RELEASE DATES

Maggie Smithee

Recording Secretary

msmithee@charolaisusa.com or call 816-464-2474 x401.

As we are moving through Spring Bull Sale Season, here are some important dates to remember. These are the dates for EPD Releases for 2025:

Monday, March 3, 2025

Tuesday, April 1, 2025

Friday, August 1, 2025

Monday, September 1, 2025

Wednesday, October 1, 2025

Monday, November 3, 2025

Monday, December 1, 2025

Here are some important reminders:

• Performance data (birth, weaning, yearling weights, and ultrasound) and Genotypes (100K for genomically enhanced EPDs) must be received by the first of the previous month. For example, to be included in the March 3rd release all data must have been entered by February 1st.

• No evaluations will be done for May, June, or July. Any genomic testing done over the summer will not receive enhanced EPDs until August 1st if the genotype is received after March 1st. Same goes for any performance data entered.

• To get ratios, it is not required to go through an evaluation. If you enter the weights today, they will calculate overnight, and ratios will be published tomorrow.

• If you have enrolled your dams in the PPR program. The calves will receive EPDs once they are fully registered.

Sarah Almond

Assistant Recording salmond@charolaisusa.com or call 816-464-2474 x402.

• Once the lab receives the samples there is a 3 to 5 week turnaround processing time before that genotype is received back in the office. For example, if a genotype is received in the middle of February, it will not be enhanced EPDs until April 1st.

• If you are curious if an animal has Genomically Enhanced EPDs look for the logo in the top left corner.

• To check to see if the updated EPDs have released look at the bottom left corner for the date.

L.G. Herndon

•Blaze headlines this elite group of high-performance, highquality herd sire candidates by JSR Estrada 52E

•He is a sharp looking herd bull prospect that sports added length of body and good rib shape with a superior foot structure and disposition

•We invested in the USA semen rights to Estrada a few years ago from our Canadian friends at HWY 21 Feeders with BJR Summerford Charolais from Alabama

•We were intrigued by Estrada’s confirmation, foot structure, performance, and added carcass merit

• We have used Estrada heavily in our ET program along with our AI program

• The results have been great with Blaze 4354 following in his father’s footsteps with his combination of power, size, and exceptional balance with impressive EPD’s and stats

• Use these Estrada sons to add scrotal, structure, growth, carcass and strong maternal merit

• Blaze ranks in the top 1% for SC, 2% for YW, 3% for MB, 5% for CW, 6% for REA, 9% for WW while combining for a 298 TSI along with a -2.2 BW

• Captain is another top performance leader by the great LT Governor

• We think you will like the design and shape of this exceptional herd sire prospect that has added rib shape and dimension

• He has a superior foot structure and a large dark pigmented scrotal

•Dam is an impressive LT Rushmore daughter out of the great LT Athena 1247 which needs no introduction! 1247 is the Dam to breed leading sires including LT Affinity 6221 who sold for $100,000 in our 2017 bull sale to J&J Trust and Domek Charolais and has been a top semen seller for Select Sires for years. She is also the Dam to LT Spartan 9245 which sold to ST Genetics in our 2020 sale. Most recently she produced LT Senator 3372, another Governor son that sold to Footprint Farms in our 2024 sale.

• Dams average weaning ratio, 5 @ 107

• Top 2% for WW along with a 10.5 CED and added carcass merit make him a potential herd sire prospect

•This guy will catch your eye come sale day

LT GOVERNOR 1560
Sire of LT Captain 4317 PLD
