On behalf of DP Sales and the Land of Lincoln group of breeders I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the 12th annual Land of Lincoln sale. Again the sale will be held on Saturday November 5th at the Diamond A sale facility in Altamont, Illinois. As always the Alwardt family does a great job being the host for the sale and all involved ties into a great team of breeders. The breeders have always maintained goals of breeding and marketing Simmental and Sim Angus genetics that not only work for their individual programs, but for the customer as well. The breeders offer cattle that are from predictable lines that offer efficiency, functionality, with eye appeal plus have realistic production traits. Over the years a few things have changed at the Land of Lincoln however the group continues to work as a team and provide genetics that excel in the real world. We welcome two new participants new to the sale however not to the Simmental scene, Dorsey Farms and Brian and Allie Loschen. This year the sale offering includes a great set of opens that are ready to go be exhibited at the National Classic in Lima, Ohio. As in the past many champions have originated from this sale and we will look forward to seeing some of show prospects end up in good homes and be rewarding for the new owner. Please review the Jr. incentives that the Land of Lincoln group have developed for the junior participants. Call Darrin Smith or any member for additional details. The group offers a great set of opens from top to bottom and is highlighted by Tyler’s award winning heifer. His 3rd overall bred and owned % female was in the keeper pen and because of their commitment to the sale she is available as well. Don’t forget the bred’s, the quality is higher than ever and pedigrees are deep and predictable. This is a good time to stock up on good bred cattle so be in the seats sale day. As the fall harvest unfolds please take time to visit with all the participants in the Land of Lincoln. They know their cattle and genetics. If you can stop by any of the breeders involved please call ahead for a farm visit. Also, prior to the sale stop by Diamond A for a quick review of the sale offering. We are available sale week so please call and we can assist you on any sale matter. If any of DP Sales management team can assist you call please call. Drew, Holli and I are always ready to assist in your Simmental needs. Hope to see you on Friday and Saturday. Also, don’t forget to make it to both sales that weekend, attend the Krieger Farms first production sale on Sunday. DP Sales Management, Doug & Debbie Parke Drew & Holli Hatmaker

Neither side of these pedigrees needs any kind of introduction to the Simmental Breed. Y49 is so big bodied and extremely long necked and really moves well off both ends. Her performance was unmatched by any calf at Diamond A Farms this year. Y36 is really stout, really deep, big boned and really good shouldered (with their mother’s predictability, popularity & profitability you just cannot go wrong.)

Selling 3 embryos, guaranteeing 1 pregnancy out of each set if work done by a certified embryologist. Pick between sires PFV All Payday 729 and Flying B Cut Above. In all the past Land of Lincoln sales Reba progeny always have been sale highlights among high sellers and work well for their new owners. In last year’s sale a Net Worth sold for $4,000. Reba definitely passes on many of her strong qualities such as bone base, width, stoutness & rib. Here is a great way to get involved in this consistent family. The Fatt Butt progeny should be exciting and very rewarding. With all the success of the Payday progeny in Illinois and across the country this SimAngus mating will surely excel.

Here’s one that’s sure powerful. She’s good necked, long spined, with a big top and a huge hip. She’s our first calf out of U16 and we’re sure impressed. Her mom was shown successfully winning the IL Beef Expo, Champion Bred & Owned at Jr. Nationals, & Champion at the IL State Fair. Also, Luke was slapped a time or two, being named Champion Bull at the 2010 Atlantic National. We should be keeping this one, but her mom is just getting fired up, and going back to Reba, we can’t wait.

We are offering a choice of two really nice fall heifers out of our JF Ebony’s Joy donor cow. They are natural twin heifers from the donor cow herself. They were born small and have matured into quality breeding heifers. X5 probably is a bit cleaner fronted and X3 might be a bit thicker, either way you can’t go wrong. This smooth fronted, soft bodied, ultra sound Warsaw daughter is another gem from out 101H donor. She has been an eye catcher from the time she hit the ground, her completeness will enable her to be very competitive in the show ring and productive in the pasture. The first Warsaw daughter to sell commanded a price of $5,000.00 in the Field of Dreams Sale and this heifer is sure cut from the same mold.

Selling 2 sets of 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy out of Power Drive, Dominance or Steel Force if work is done by certified embryologist. Honeybunch has always been a favorite around the Lochen household. This donor has produced bulls that done well at the bull tests and females that are some of most sought after at our place. The reason is the strength of this predictable line. P401 has many famous family mates such as the champion, Honey Dew. The bulls In Dew Time and Durcell seem to be making a huge impact. The inset picture is a Power Drive female we own jointly with Diamond A. This cow has been good to us. Her mother (Power Drive genetics) was reserve overall for us at the Illinois State Fair a couple years back and the judge loved her soundness and functionality, but she just lacked a little style. So we bred her to Silveiras Style…she is one of the first Style heifers to hit the market this year. There is no Dream On in this pedigree. We feel her picture says it all. Being out of the Jauer Freightliner donor cow, whose progeny have topped many sales, and the popular Steel Force - this mating has really clicked. We showed a full sister to Y43 this summer and she won her class at the National Jr. heifer show and was Rs. Calf Champion at the Illinois State Fair Jr. show. Y43 has a tremendous amount of rib shape, while still being very feminine through her front 1/3. She also has a very good disposition and is extremely sound on the move. Definetely one of the favorites at Diamond A Farms. TownCat was 3rd overall Bred & Owned and 17th overall at Jr. Nationals. She is really massive and sound and good legged just like her mother. There’s no doubt she will be a standout in the pasture in the future, but I think she’s sure got some more work to do in the show ring. It was a long, hard talk trying to get this one in this years offering, but here she is, ready to make the new owner a lot of money. She’s long necked, big topped, stout hipped and really sound and a baldy to boot.

The Vail cow family has been very consistent for the Lemenagers and the Haefners and she didn’t disappoint us this year either. We think you will find this female stout from end to end, but still possesses enough femininity. Many Illinois breeders will recognize the bottom side and remember the revenue that the CNS Mr Mt L773 has generated in the past. If you like females that can grow and maintain in any environment, then you need to seriously study this bred. She was checked safe to the sexed Dream Catcher date, but was kept with our young herd sire due to the heat we experienced. We really wanted to keep this female back, b/c we love her fleshing ability and the mating is an exciting one, but her mama is in her prime and continues to produce quality stock for us. You need to highlight the fact that there is no Dream ON in this female’s pedigree. We just hope we don’t regret this decision.
