Whether you are an old customer or potential new customer, the fact that you are reading this tells us you are interested in our programs and for that we say “Thank You”. We realize there are many options out there when it comes to selecting your seed stock supplier, and your interest in our programs isn’t taken lightly. It’s actually a pretty simple concept if the cattle work for you and we take care of you, the customer, as if we would like to be treated ourselves, you’ll be back. Let’s face it, bulls are livestock and things happen, even under the most watchful eye. And that’s what sets your seed stock suppliers apart. One of the tools we implemented last year to help protect your investment was having Trudeau Insurance available with the option to purchase a loss of use or a mortality insurance policy. The beauty of it was, we paid half the premium. It was an overwhelming popular option. You insure almost all other facets of your farm or ranch, why not your herd bulls. I might add the Trudeau Agency was excellent to work with. The pursuit of new genetics to incorporate into the herd is an ongoing challenge; we don’t want to be a member of the bull of the month club, but to find genetics that are backed by good cows and cow families and will enhance your bottom line. It’s like the old saying “if the wife’s happy, everybody’s happy”. Well the same is true for our customers, if you are happy, we are happy. This year we feel we have assembled another great set of bulls for your appraisal. Whether it’s Simmental, Angus, Sim/Angus, Red Angus or Sim/Red Angus, we have a great variety and selection. And that’s what sets this sale apart from any others. From high performance bulls to calving ease bulls, red bulls to black bulls we are your one stop bull shop. We will again have videos on all bulls available on our website, www.eichackersimmentals.com, hopefully about 10 days prior to the sale. It is a great way for you to preview the bulls prior to the sale. On sale day the bulls will still come through the ring like we always have, but it is labor intensive. It seems the trend is to go with just a video at the auction with no live animals going through the ring. From a labor and safety standpoint it is being considered in the future and we would surely like any feedback we can get from you, our customers. We will again have DVAuction with us on sale day. Naturally we hope

They will play the prerecorded video of each lot as they sell and you can bid on your computer as if you were there yourself. All cattle will sell under the suggested sale terms and conditions of the American Simmental Association. Copies will be available sale day.

Announcements: Announcements made sale day take prece-

dence over printed material in sale catalog. Anyone attending this sale attends at their own risk. Eichacker Simmentals or JK Angus or any of the sale force will not be held responsible for any personal injury while attending this sale.

EPDs: The EPDs listed in the catalog are spring 2016 numbers. Feeding Arrangements & Delivery: We will offer to

feed the bulls at no charge until April 15, 2016. At that time they will be semen tested and delivered free of charge up to 300 miles. We will assist in making the most economical arrangements possible beyond that. We are not responsible for any injury or death to the bulls while in our care.

Health:

All bulls have been tested negative for BVD/PI. All cows are Johnes free. All genetic defect testing has been completed.

Insurance:

Insurance will be available sale day through Trudeau Insurance. They will offer loss of use and mortality. Eichacker Simmentals and JK Angus will pay half of the premium. In no case will seller be responsible for more than the purchase price of the bull. Details will be available in the office on sale day.

Calving Ease Score:

We have put a column in with a CE score with 1, 2, 3, or 4 stars, 1 star being harder calving and 4 stars being the easiest calving. It is just our opinion of what you could expect taking into consideration...BW, EPD’s, Pedigree and structure of the bull.

Semen Interest:

Eichacker Simmentals will retain 1/4 semen interest in all bulls sold and JK Angus will be retaining 1/3 semen interest in all bulls sold. Keep in mind, generally this means absolutely nothing, it only comes into play if semen is collected and sold.

Adjusted Scrotal: Actual scrotal measurements were taken 1-25-2016 then adjusted to a year of age using each breeds own formula for adjusted scrotal measurements. Scrotal measurements for the JK Angus bulls are actual, not adjusted.

Weight Per Day of Age (WDA): WDA is the weight of a bull on 1-29-2016 divided by the days of age.

120 Day Weight:

The 124 day gain was the average daily gain from the weaning weight until 1-25-2016.

Homozygous & Heterozygous: A homozygous black bull when mated to any black cows will give you a black calf. A heterozygous black bull carries a red gene, but when mated to black cows will give you a black calf unless your black cow carries a red gene, then you have a slight chance of getting a red calf, but neither will sire gray calves on black cows. Back Fat (BF): Inches of Backfat. Birth Weight (BW): Pounds of birth weight. Calving Ease (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers. Maternal Calving Ease (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters. Milk (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk. Marbling (MRB): Marbling score. Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.

Ribeye Area (REA): Square inches of ribeye. Warner-Bratzler Shear Force (WBSF): Pounds of force required to shear a steak. Stayability (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age. Terminal Index (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario. Weaning Weight (WW): Pounds of weaning weight. Yearling Weight (YW): Pounds of yearling weight. Yield Grade (YG): Yield grade score.

EXPLANATION OF HOW TO UTILIZE API AND TI INDEXES First, determine which index to use; if you're keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then, just as with EPD's, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purposetype sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a $50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. X 4 yr. = $6,000). A percentile - ranking chart is required to determine where a bull's index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed. For more information, visit www.simmental.org.

A very fitting spot for this guy, Lot #1, if you like'em stout and thick, this guy is pretty impressive. His WW & YW EPD's put him in the top 1% of the breed. And his WDA ranks him as the #5 bull of the group. He has been a standout since he was born. His dam is an excellent uddered cow who raised a full brother to this guy that sold to Jeff Harwood for $17,000 last year.

One of the longer sided United sons that packs a load of performance, ratioed 109 for WW, has WW & YW EPD's that rank him in the top 2% and 1% of the breed respectively and has the actual performance that backs it up being the #3 bull in WDA and 120 day gain. His dam has been very productive, weaning four calves that ratioed 107 for BW, 102 for WW and 104 for YW.

I'm sure this guy will find his way to one of the front pens on sale day. We love his type and kind, attractive, thick made and sound. He's an above average gaining bull that ratioed 107 for WW and has WW & YW EPD's that put him in the top 2% of the breed. His dam has WW & YW ratios of 110 & 103 on two calves.

Two years ago the search was on for a female that could be incorporated into our donor program and GLS Ashley A11 was the one we chose. She is tremendously deep bodied, sound footed with an awesome set of EPD's. When she calved, her awesome udder was just what we hoped for. Now for the bulls, you line them up side by side and they are all impressive, it's some of the data that gets confusing, I'll try to explain. Her natural calf, the RidgeRider son, is super long sided and only had a 76 lb BW, nice WW, but you scratch your head on the other #'s. Well he was born mid December and the yearling weights weren't taken until the end of January, so everything got adjusted way down. He was also moved from Bob Grass's farm to Eichacker's farm after weaning and had to get introduced to a new set of bulls. Then you have the Lock N Load sons. They are like peas in a pod, WW's very similar, exact same WDA at 3.43, adj YW within 1 lb. The glaring difference is the birth weight. I know you think I'm crazy for selling a bull with that kind of birth weight, but these calves are a product of IVF (Invitro Fertilization). There there has been issues with the process used through IVF that birthweights can get artificially inflated. When her natural calf's bw was 76 lbs and an IVF calf at 138#, it's confusing. That's my explanation for what's it's worth. Some sale catalogs just put ET in the bw column and you never know the weight, but we believe in being transparent, put the numbers out there and you decide. You could definitely make a case here because of the variables, use the EPD's, they may be the most accurate indicator as what to expect. Bottom line, you have our guarantee that if it ain't right we will make it right.

I have to admit when this guy was born I ran the cow in to see if there was another calf in there. I almost gave this guy 4 stars for CE, so he could go that way with a little caution. We used Insight on the heifers and worked, all three Insight bulls are out of 1st calf heifers. But he's probably not a drop dead heifer bull. He ratioed 107 for BW, his dam was 117 and his granddam was 122, so that's an extremely consistent cow family of low BW. Of the three Insight's this is my choice for calving ease.

Here's a super thick made bull out of the high performance and carcass sire, Makers Mark. You may wonder why I only gave him 2 stars CE score with a 76 lb BW and a -1.2 EPD, but in my limited experience with Makers Mark, there is a lot of power in these cattle. But you gotta give it to a bull with a BW ratio of 109 then pour it on to have a WW ratio of 111.

Out of the CE bull, Connealy Capitalist. I kept him at 3 stars for CE because of the dam's side, they've been known to have a lot of performance on her side of the pedigree. We did score this 1st calf heifer very well on udder score. His granddam was a donor for us a few years back and put some pretty powerful bulls in the sale, one of her son's, Atokad, is a ranch favorite at Goeken Cattle Company. We have gotten some very positive feedback from the cattlemen who have been buying these Sim/Red Angus bulls. It's only fitting that the T212 cow finally got her due justice and the opportunity to showcase her genetics in the donor pen. She has raised 5 natural calves of which 4 were bulls and every year the footnote read..one of the stouter bulls, as much rear end and base width as any. She is a moderate framed individual with tremendous thickness, good udder and very sound footed. The best compliment you can give the T212 cow is that every bull born last year not only made the sale but also made the picture pen, and wasn't done on purpose, it just happened. There are three sire group choices to choose from. The first is her own natural calf, the Beef King son, a full brother sold to Travis Beeson in 2013. Travis tells me he just absolutely loves that bull. The next three are CDI Authority sons. Authority was the hot sire group last year as we had the situation with a flush out of our T202 Red Angus cow. At this point they are very uniform and I don't know who would be my 1st pick of the T212 X Authority bulls. Then there are the three Red Angus sired bulls out of Epic. These are the 1st Epic sons we have had, so didn't know what to expect, but they sure don't disappoint. As a matter of fact, you put them in a pen with the Authority bulls and there's not much difference. No matter who you choose from the seven bulls, I don't feel you can go wrong.
