WELCOME to the 2011 NEMO Fair This is our 64th NEMO Fair. The Fair Board of Directors along with myself hope you come join us at the Fair for one day or the entire week for fun in the sun. We have kept the rock band on Tuesday night, we feel it is a great addition to the fair. Of course we have moved the parking, so please be patient and the board and volunteers will try to direct you to the correct parking locations. We have kept the trolley for transportation to the gates. Once you’re at the Fair, enjoy yourself, taste all the delicious food from all the different venders, or something cold to drink. After that, you can visit the animals in the barns and many great projects in the 4-H and FFA building brought to you by many talented young fair goers. Don’t forget about the multipurpose building with the business booths and local talent performing each evening on stage. There are open projects consisting of pictures, gardening, quilting and many more projects that can be enjoyed in the cool air conditioned multipurpose building daily. Nightly events will be held throughout the week in the arena area, so please come and enjoy a good show. Enjoy the rides for all ages at the carnival nightly. We have added a Disney attraction show that will be held in front of the 4-H building Thursday through Saturday. The NEMO Fair extends our thanks to all the volunteers, businesses, the City of Kirksville and the county emergency personnel, for all the help in making our Fair such a success. This couldn’t happen without the support of everyone that has helped out in each and every way. So come and be a part of our Fair and make it your Fair. Come have a great and safe week. Season Passes will be on sale at area businesses in advance of the Fair. The Fair Board has determined there will be ABSOLUTELY NO COURTESY OR FREE PASSES issued to any person. The NEMO Fair is not responsible for lost or stolen passes.

GENERAL RULES 1. Traffic regulations: Absolutely no parking on roadway. Any person obstructing any fire lane, drive or street with any vehicle will be requested by the police to remove immediately. Failure to do so will result in expulsion from the grounds and/or arrest. parking in front of exhibit buildings, exhibits, grandstand, and midway concessions will not be tolerated. ample parking space is provided for all vehicles. special areas have been designated for livestock exhibitors, CAMPERS, employees and officials. ALL VIOLATORS WILL BE TOWED AT OWNER’S EXPENSE. 2. RECREATIONAL AND OTHER VEHICLES: No person shall be allowed to bring or use upon the fairgrounds, any motor scooter, motorbike, motorcycle, coaster sled, skateboard, roller skates, rollerblades, bike, ATV, golf cart or diminutive vehicle upon the fairgrounds during the period of the Fair without the approval of the Fair Board. Such policy does not include wheelchairs or other medically necessary devices or vehicles to be used by Fair Board directors in their duties. 3. TRAILERS: Livestock trailers must be parked in designated area. Violators will be towed at owner’s expense. After unloading livestock, check with superintendents for instructions on parking trailers. Parking is prohibited in the livestock area between 2 pm and 9 pm Monday through Saturday. (Only exception is for loading and unloading livestock.) Vehicles in violation will be towed away at owner’s expense. 4. Grounds regulations: No outside coolers, cans, or bottles will be allowed on the fairgrounds except as may be used by campers in the campgrounds. Coolers, cans and bottles will be confiscated at the gate. Proper clothing must be worn on Fairgrounds. Patrons must wear shoes and shirt, or risk expulsion from the grounds. 5. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Alcoholic beverages, except as may be used by campers in the campgrounds, will be permitted only in the beer barn and grandstand areas and must be purchased from vendors on the fairgrounds. 6. pets: Absolutely no pets, including any type of animal, shall be allowed on the fairgrounds during the period of the fair without the approval of the Fair Board. Animals for the handicapped are excluded. This includes the campground. 7. solicitations: Solicitation of any type, including the distribution of trinkets, flyers, pamphlets, baubles, or other merchandise or material shall not be allowed without having been requested or invited to do so and approved by formal action of the Northeast Missouri Fair Board. 8. vagrancy: Vagrancy is not allowed on the grounds. 9. overnight: Persons staying on the grounds overnight must present a ticket or entry pass when asked to do so by the Fair Board. 10. smoking: NO SMOKING in livestock barn by order of the City Fire Marshall. 11. claims for injury: No claims for injury to any person or property shall ever be asserted, nor suit instituted or maintained against the NEMO Fair, or its officers or their agents, representatives, volunteers, or employees. If any damage, loss, or injury to person or property shall be caused by reason of any neglect or willful acts of any persons, firm, or corporation or their agents, representatives, volunteers, or employees having license or privilege to exhibit on said fairgrounds, or occupying a space thereon the NEMO Fair shall, in no manner, be responsible therefore, and in case it be subject to any expenses or liability all persons causing same or liable therefore, shall indemnify the said NEMO Fair. under no circumstances will thE NEMO FAIR be responsible for death, theft, damage, or injury to any persons, animal, article or vehicle. 12. RESERVATION OF RIGHTS: The NEMO Fair Association Board of Directors reserves the right to do the following: a. Reject any entry. b. Continue, discontinue, or cancel the Fair due to bad weather, unfavorable, or unavoidable conditions. c. Suspend, amend or add general rules/regulations without notice.

INDIVIDUALS VIOLATING ABOVE POLICIES WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE FAIRGROUNDS.

FOOD at the FAIR Bellacino’s will be serving delicious meals in the Livestock Show Barn on the Fairgrounds from 7 am to ? pm daily with a variety of menu items. Menus will be posted in the building Monday through Saturday. Numerous other foods will also be available on the grounds.

Camping Rules and Procedures 1. Current camping reservations may be paid between July 18th - August 31, 2011 or March 1st - 31st 2012. Camping spots not paid by March 31st will be released to the general public. Reservations may be made by calling Jim Keim at (660) 341-5310. PAYMENTS: Must be mailed to P.O. Box 287 Kirksville, MO 63501. Or brought to the Fair Office by Appointment. 2. Camping spaces will be numbered and specific spaces may be requested. Campers will be assigned a numbered space and must be parked in that assigned space. 3. The camping rate will be $140.00. 4. Campers moved onto the grounds before July 16th will be assessed an additional fee of $15.00 per night. 5. Campers must be removed no later than 5:00 P.M., July 24th, 2011 or additional nights can be purchased at $15.00 per night. 6. No stock trailers are allowed in the campgrounds unless equipped as campers. All stock trailers must be parked in the designated area or be subject to a fine. 7. You may purchase 1 extra tag for $20.00. Vehicles parked in the campgrounds must have a hang tag or be subject to towing at the ownerâ€™s expense. NO REPLACEMENT HANG TAGS WILL BE PROVIDED. 8. No advertising, sales, flea markets, solicitations, etc., shall be allowed in the campgrounds without prior approval by formal action of the Fair Board. 9. Campers are responsible for rules concerning the campground under General Rules. Please contact Jim Keim with any questions when on the fairgrounds. And literally rounding out the duo is Big Vinny, a 382-pound guy in overalls who not only sings, but dances, belly-first, down to the ground. The phrases, “high energy,” “good time” and “party hard” don’t do this duo justice. If you’re not having fun at a Trailer Choir show, check your pulse to see if you’re still alive. Perhaps because of such catchy tunes, few stars are rising as fast. Discovered in 2007 by superstar Toby Keith, Trailer Choir has been performing on his mammoth national tours for the past three years. He featured the group in his 2008 film Beer for My Horses, so Trailer Choir’s “Off the Hillbilly Hook” video featured Toby and the movie’s co-star Willie Nelson. Toby also co-produced their debut CD. In 2009, Trailer Choir exploded on the airwaves with the merry, rollicking “Rockin’ the Beer Gut,” a song that has sold more than a quarter of a million copies. “Last Man Standing” was used by ESPN and ABC in a national NASCAR promotion. In 2010, the filming of its jaunty “Rollin’ Through the Sunshine” video became a feature story in Country Weekly. Their secret? Born Marc Fortney, Butter grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio, a once booming industrial town that became a great place to call home. He became captivated by music as a teenager. He moved to Middle Tennessee as a college student in 1993 and was soon playing fraternity parties in The Butter Band, which gave him his nickname. Big Vinny was raised Vencent VanZant Hickerson in the middle Tennessee town of Linden. Unlike Butter, he comes from a highly musical family. His late father was once a professional guitarist, and he passed his passion for music along to his children. Big Vinny learned to play guitar in January 2002, and by that March he was writing his first songs. At the time, he was manager of a Sonic in McEwen, TN. Big Vinny decided to make the big move to Nashville in 2006. Fatefully, he rented an apartment next door to Butter. The two began swapping songs, and a friendship was born. Big Vinny started doing frat-house shows with Butter’s band. Butter dubbed the loose-knit group Trailer Choir. Toby Keith turned up at a Trailer Choir gig and signed them to his record label in June 2007. Two days later, they were on tour with him, winning over fans night after night. But the members of Trailer Choir don’t actually use the word “fan.” “You don’t become a ‘fan,’ you become a friend,” says Big Vinny. “That’s what we always say. We feel like everybody we meet, we’re friends with, always.”

Though lead vocalist/guitarist Stephen Riker and drummer Seth Riker were only eleven years old at the time, they were certain that this was what they wanted to do. They were exposed to music at a very young age by RikeR bassist and father Steve when he joined classic rock band Head East. Today, RikeR performs several times a year in Missouri and surrounding states. The objective of this class is to present a class of sheep in the most

attractive manner to give spectators a real opportunity to view a class of beauty with beauty, and to promote the use of wool by demonstrating its beauty, versatility and source.

Entries in this class are open to male and female. The sheep may

be of any age and breed, but must be a ewe, conditioned, fitted and trained to show at halter. The entrant will be judged on the mode of dress selected, which must be appropriate, attractive, made of wool or wool blend material, and lend elegance to the class. Control and presentation of the animals will also be considered in the judging.

2011 NEMO Fair Queen Pageant Rules and regulations The NEMO Fair Pageant competition is held annually in Kirksville in conjunction with the NEMO Fair. Entrants agree to abide by all rules of the NEMO Fair Pageant that are in effect now or as announced later. Entrants agree that the time, manner and method of judging shall be solely at the discretion of the NEMO Fair and the decision of the judges will be final. Entrants agree to pay an entry fee of $35.00. 1. Contestants shall be citizens of the United States and residents of the state of Missouri for no fewer than six months immediately preceding. 2. The NEMO Queen/Teen Miss will automatically relinquish her title if she has a child, enters into a marriage contract, or chooses to cohabit with a male in lieu of a marriage contract. Royalty must be present for all obligations as determined by the queen committee regardless of any circumstances. 3. Contestants for the Division of Queen shall be between the ages of 17 years old and 22 years old. Contestants for the Division of Teen Miss shall be between the ages of 13 years old and 16 years old. Contestants for the Division of Young Miss shall be between the ages of 9 years old and 12 years old. All of the above Divisions shall be as of September 1, 2011. 4. Entries shall be postmarked no later than June 15, 2011. 5. All entries shall be sent to: NEMO Fair Queen Pageant, P.O. Box 287, Kirksville, MO 63501. 6. A complete entry must include the following: a) $35.00 entry fee. b) Completed entry form. c) One wallet size photo which will become property of NEMO Fair Association and will not be returned. *Failure to include all 3 items listed above will result in contestant being ineligible to compete in contest.* 7. The NEMO Fair Association will furnish the following for the contestant competing for Missouri State Fair Queen: a) Entry fee for the contest. b) One night lodging for the candidate and chaperone with the Sedalia Welcome Committee. 12. Photography (Rules for Entry) All photographs must measure 5x7 inches, 8x10 inches or 8x12 inches. No photograph will be accepted that is over 8x12 inches. Photographs must be matted and the photographers name, address, and current phone number must be listed on the back. Photographers that are 18 and younger should enter the student class. Photographers over 18 must enter the adult class. Ribbons will be awarded for all participants. Champion and reserve champion ribbons will be assigned for best of show as well as in each class. A photograph will also be chosen by the 2011 NEMO Fair royalty and awarded a prize. The NEMO Fair board supports artistic expression but reserves the right to take down or refuse any photograph from entering that is deemed lewd or inappropriate in any way.

LOT A Kute Kid Class Child photographed must be three years or under at the time taken. LOT B Black and White Photographs in the category must only have black, gray, and or white tones. LOT C Sepia The photograph must be a sepia tones or antiqued. Photographs must be predominantly brown and white. LOT D Landscape Examples in this category would include: sunsets, ducks on a pond, etc. LOT E Photojournalism Journalism-style photographs should be entered in this class. War images, news images, and documentary style wedding photography are all prime examples of this style. LOT F Digital/Special Effects All digitally altered photographs must be entered into this category. This category also includes hand oil-painted photographs.

LOT G Still Life/Art All photographs in this class must be of inanimate objects. Examples include buildings, flowers, etc. LOT H Wildlife/Animal Northeast Missouri has an abundance of wildlife. This class is to show off your appreciation for nature or your favorite picture of your family pet. LOT I Portrait Study A portrait study is a three picture series that carries a common theme. All three photographs must be matted with one mat and must not be larger then 5x7 each. Photographs that are individually matted will not be accepted. LOT J Portraiture Traditional portraiture will be entered into this class. Examples include wedding, seniors, children, or families. LOT K Action/Sports Shots of your favorite player sliding into home or your favorite drag racer launching his car would be examples of this category. LOT L Other Anything else not fitting into another category.

Roy E. Jackson Memorial Adair Co. 4-H Award Description: This annual award was made possible by the family and friends of the late Mr. Roy E. Jackson, a past president of the Northeast Missouri Fair, a community leader, and a dedicated and enthusiastic person with high ideals for young people. Eligibility: Any bona fide 4-H member who has an exhibit in the Northeast Missouri Fair. Award: An annual plaque, donated by family and friends to be presented at the 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale. Score Card: Part I: A: Sportsmanship and courtesy during the Fair - 25 points. B: Friendliness, pleasant attitude during the Fair - 25 points. C: Enthusiasm of the Individual during the Fair - 25 points. Part II: The 4-H member who has done the best with what he/she had to work with. This could very likely include a white ribbon exhibit, but a blue ribbon boy or girl who displays qualities of the above in Part III: 25 points. Selection: Selection of award recipients to be made by a silent committee who will observe 4-H members throughout the Fair each year.

The Myron Propst Memorial Commercial Award The Myron Propst Trophy will be awarded to the outstanding commercial display, either indoor or outdoor, on Friday evening in the commercial building. Myron Propst was a charter member of the Board, served as president and other capacities, mainly as Commercial Exhibit Superintendent. He was a farmer, businessman, and a dedicated individual to his family, Fair, and community. The judges will take note of the different displays throughout the week, noting: public appeal, presentation of the product, and individual salesmanship. Rodney Scott Memorial 4-H Award This annual award is made possible by the family of the late Rodney Scott. Rodney was a past member of the Novinger Town and Country 4-H Club, as well as a club leader and a member of the Northeast Missouri Fair Board. Rodney enjoyed working with the young and old at fair time. AWARD: Annual plaque and bond donated by the family at the 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale. ELIGIBILITY: Any bona fide Adair County 4-H member who exhibits at the NEMO Fair. Recipients will be judged on: Showmanship: 25 points. Courtesy: willing to help others: 50 points. Cliston Barker, Jr. FFA MEMORIAL AWARD The annual FFA Memorial Award in honor of Cliston Barker, Jr. will be presented during the 4-H FFA Sale at the NEMO Fair. This award will be presented to an FFA member who has met the proper guidelines. A plaque with the winners names will also be presented to the NEMO Fairboard and to Mr. Jason Dimmitt for the Vo-Tech School. Cliston, Jr. was the son of Cliston & Anita Barker of Kirksville and passed away June 29, 1992 with Diabetes. He was active in 4-H and FFA and was the FFA President for two years. He graduated from Kirksville Senior High in l989.

Adair County 4-H & FFA Premium Livestock Sale Saturday, July 23, 2011, 1:00 p.m. 1. Adair County 4-H and FFA members may sell their premium from one of the following categories: market beef , market lamb, market hog, market goat, rabbit meat pen of 3, or poultry meat pen of 4. Exhibitor is required to be present the day of the sale to present their animal in the show ring. 2. Each exhibitor will select which species they intend to sell and will notify the class superintendent of their intentions by using the standardized form (copy attached and will also be available through your superintendent). Intent to sell must be submitted on the written form. If the exhibitor exhibited animals in more than one species, the exhibitor is to notify the respective superintendents of each species when they will make their final decision as which species to sell and when the final determination will be made. Superintendents must be notified immediately after the end of the exhibitorâ€™s final show or risk being moved to the bottom of that speciesâ€™ sale order. 3. The sale will begin with the Sale of Champions (top two animals in each species). The Sale Committee respectfully requests all sale orders be turned in as quickly as possible due to the short time for sale preparation. 4. Animals not in the Sale of Champions will be placed in sale order according to the placing in class by class then order of ribbonâ€”blue, red, white. 5. Sale order identification: Swine-ear tag number, Sheep-ear tag number, Beef-ear tag number.

6. Weight limits: Sheep: minimum-80 pounds. Beef: minimum-900 pounds. Animals not within weight limits will sell at the end of the sale order. 7. Exhibitors MUST be present for buyer pictures. Failure to be present will mean forfeiture of his/her sale premium check and the sale will be voided. Emergency releases will be made only at the discretion of the Joint Fair Committee. 8. Animals to be sold are to remain at the Fairgrounds throughout the week until the sale. 9. To participate in the sale, project animals must have been shown in the show ring at the NEMO Fair by the exhibitor (or by another junior exhibitor if prior permission has been granted). 10. Lunch will be provided for all buyers and exhibitors beginning at 11:00 am. Please sign in at the sale window for your identifying tag.

The annual Adair County 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. As an Adair county exhibitor, you are eligible to sell one market animal (or pen in the case of poultry and rabbits) for premium. Please note you are not required to participate in this sale. In order to be eligible to sell, you will need to complete the bottom portion of this form and return it to your show superintendent within one hour after the end of your speciesâ€™ show. In the event you exhibit multiple species, you must notify the superintendent of your first show that you are waiting until after your final show to choose which species to sell. You MUST notify each show superintendent of your final decision immediately after your final show. PLEASE NOTE: BEEF, SHEEP, SWINE, POULTRY, RABBIT, AND GOAT superintendents are required to submit all lists no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22. Failure to notify your show superintendent of your final decision in a timely manner could result in your placement at the bottom of that species sale order. General Livestock Rules & Regulations 1. All exhibitor shall be required to wear the official 4-H/FFA t-shirt of the fair and their assigned exhibitor number at the time of all judging. In addition, each animal shall be identified at the pen, cage or stall with the official I.D. card of the fair that is properly filled out by the exhibitor. 2. Application for entry must be made upon printed form found in this fair book. A check for entry fees must be enclosed with the entry form. Entries with no money, incorrect amounts, or incomplete information may be returned to exhibitor. Entries from this Fair book are open to 4-H and FFA members in the State of Missouri. Lead Line and Dress Your Goat are open to everyone. The NEMO Fair Association states that a Season Pass or Day Pass is required for admittance onto the fairgrounds. 3. All entries must be sent to: Fair Entries, NEMO

Fair, P.O. Box 287, Kirksville, MO 63501, by July 1, 2011. After July 1, late penalties will be imposed. 4. All 4-H and FFA classes at the NEMO Fair will follow guidelines set forth by the Missouri 4-H Youth Development Program. For a complete listing of all rules and regulations please see the 4-H and FFA section in the 2011 Missouri State Fair Catalog. Some rules may be superseded by rules in this book. 5. Articles or animals will not be placed on exhibition unless entered in the Superintendentâ€™s Book and entry tag (if required) attached. 6. All entries are to be in place at times and dates specified in schedule. 7. The Superintendent in each department will be responsible for assigning space and arranging exhibits, and his/her directions must be followed. 8. Exhibitors must accompany their animal/

exhibit to the Fair, care for them, and exhibit them. If this regulation cannot be followed, a letter of circumstance must be submitted to the 4-H July Council Meeting. Superintendents may permit another 4-H/ FFA member to show an animal in case of illness or physical handicap. 9. Uncontrollable animals or animals which the exhibitor cannot handle alone may be disqualified by the Superintendent and required to leave the ring and/or grounds. 10. In cases where a member has more than one animal in a class another 4-H/FFA exhibitor must show the second animal. 11. Minimal assistance is allowed by another 4-H/ FFA exhibitor at the discretion of the Superintendent. 12. Showmanship classes will run oldest age category to youngest. There will be no master showmanship classes; exhibitors will not be required to advance to next age category after winning in their category. (ages as of 1/1/2011; 14 and over, 11-13, and 8-10 for beef, sheep, swine, poultry and goat) 13. Unless otherwise stated, no exhibitor will be allowed more than two (2) entries in an individual class and one (1) entry in a pen class in the beef, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbit, bucket calf, goat departments. Each exhibitor will be limited to four steers regardless of breed. 14. Each exhibit shall be owned by the exhibitor and shall represent work accomplished in a project in which the exhibitor was enrolled during the past year. A written statement by the leader, stating that the exhibit is bona fide work, must accompany each exhibit, if requested by the Superintendent. 15. No red ribbon entries for championship. 16. An Adair County 4-H & FFA Show will be held as well as a NEMO Fair 4-H & FFA Show. 17. Except as otherwise indicated, all judging will be on the Danish system with a 3-2-1 relationship between blue, red and white awards. The judges are instructed not to place inferior exhibits regardless of the number of entries. 18. Believing it is in the best interest of all 4-H/FFA exhibitors to maintain a reputation of integrity and to present a wholesome and progressive image, 4-H and FFA members are expected to conduct themselves according to the best traditions of their respective organizations. Inappropriate conduct (drinking, stealing, vandalism, and indiscreet behavior) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Any violation of this rule will be grounds for disqualifying the exhibitor and/or livestock involved. Further, any premium monies earned will be forfeited. 19. All non-exhibitors will be expected to vacate barns by 12 midnight each evening. 20. State Health Regulations will apply to all livestock entries, unless specified otherwise. 21. Exhibitors are not permitted to show the same breed in both 4-H and FFA. For example, if an exhibitor shows Chester White hogs in 4-H, he/

she cannot show Chester White hogs in FFA, or if an exhibitor shows market steers in FFA, he/she cannot show market steers in 4-H. Animals are designated (4-H or FFA) at the time of entry and may not be switched to another division after entries have been received prior to the fair. 22. 4-H members may exhibit only in projects in which they are enrolled in the current 4-H year. 23. All exhibitors must clean their pens before they will be released by Superintendent. 24. Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance (MSMQA): By June 1, 2011, all 4-H exhibitors enrolled in food animal projects including beef, sheep, swine, dairy cattle, meat and dairy goats, rabbits, and poultry must complete the appropriate level of MSMQA certification to be considered an exhibitor in good standing in that project. Judging - Competent judges have been secured for all departments. 1 . No one shall act as judge for any class in which he or she is exhibiting. 2. A judge, at his/her discretion may withhold any or all premiums if an article or animal in his/her judgement is not worthy of award. 3. Decision of judges shall be final subject only to protest for good reason and under the procedure hereinafter described under the heading â€œProtestâ€?. 4. Anyone attempting to interfere with the judges during the adjudication, or publicly expressing disapproval in the area or grounds of decision of the judges, shall forfeit premiums and be excluded from further competition. Protest - ALL PROTESTS MUST BE MADE IN WRITING to the Joint Review Board. The protest should include the reason for the alleged ineligibility and the rule governing the case must be noted. All protests must be signed. Such protest must be filed with a Joint Review Committee by or before 8 a.m. the day following the date the award is made. Liabilities of Exhibitors 1. In no event shall University of Missouri Extension, Adair County University Extension Council, University Extension Staff or Adair County 4-H Council, its officers, directors or members be held responsible for any loss or damage to the property of person or exhibitor or other persons while on the fairgrounds whether said loss or damage shall arise from accident or any cause whatsoever. 2. Entry form will serve as agreement that you understand and accept responsibility for following all guidelines and understand that failure to do so will result in dismissal from event or activity. Release of Exhibits - With the consent of the division superintendent, exhibits may be released only in the event of an extreme emergency, or for the purpose

of attending a conflicting show by showing the proper papers. Failure to comply will mean automatic forfeiture of all premiums due to exhibitor.

Premium Point Values: Blue - 30, Red - 20, White 10 (except where noted otherwise) Entry to be made on the Livestock Entry Form and Steer Breed Affidavit. General Rules 1. Animals can only be entered in one division (4-H or FFA), to be designated at time of entry, and are not allowed to be switched to another division. 2. Animals are to be groomed by the 4-H or FFA exhibitor with assistance from the immediate family or other 4-H or FFA exhibitor only. (Immediate family is defined as father, mother, brothers, sisters, step-parents, step-siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and legal guardians of the exhibitor.) All animals will be groomed in the barns or immediately adjacent to the barns. 3. Breeding cattle to be shown in a breed class must be recorded in an association recognized by the National Society of Recorded Associations, except that calves dropped this year must be eligible for registry. Registration papers may be called for at any time during the fair. All registered breeding animals must show in their respective breeds class if that breed has a represented class. Breeding beef classes will be available for the following breeds: Angus, Chianina, Hereford,

Limousin, Maine Anjou, Shorthorn, Simmental, All Other Breeds, and Crossbred/Commercial. Other breed classes may be available depending on number of entries in that breed. 4. Breeds will be shown in alphabetical order by breed with crossbreds showing last. 5. To be eligible for a breed class, steers must meet rules set by the Missouri State Fair for exhibition in a breed class. All steers in the All Other Breeds class must also meet the rules set by the Missouri State Fair for that respective breed. Missouri State Fair rules read: “To qualify for a breed class, the steer must meet the same percentage requirements set forth by the breed association for registration of a bull.” For the NEMO Fair, to be eligible for breed classes in the market steer show, the exhibitor must provide the official NEMO Fair Breeders Certificate. This must be turned in with your fair entry due July 1. 6. Each exhibitor shall parade his animals when requested to do so by the Superintendent in Charge. 7. Market heifers will show against steers in Champion Drive. 8. In all championship classes the second place animal in the class from which the Champion is chosen will be eligible to show for Reserve Champion provided a blue ribbon has been awarded to the second place animal. 9. Animals shown in group classes must previously have been shown in individual classes. 10. A d d i t i o n a l c l a s s e s m a y b e a d d e d a t Superintendent’s discretion. 11. Bulls over one year of age must be shown with bull lead. 12. No false hair allowed on show animals. All steers and market heifers may be wiped for discoloration. 13. Steers must have been owned by and in the care of member under the name of exhibitor, not farm or family name by March 1, 2011. 16. Breeding animals must have been owned by and in the care of member under the name of exhibitor, not farm or family name by June 1, 2011. 17. Group of 3 steers or market heifers class may be entered by a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter with only one entry per club/chapter. 18. A group of 3 steers or market heifers will consist of three steers and/or market heifers without regard to breed. 19. Not more than one (1) calf in the group may be owned by the same individual in the group of 3 steers or market heifer class. Every animal

exhibited in the group must have been previously exhibited in the same division (4-H or FFA) as an individual. 20. For group of 3 steers or market heifers class Premiums will be paid to 4-H club or FFA chapter and mailed to that organization’s leader/advisor. Judging of group of 3 market steers or heifers class will be on the Danish System, but points will be awarded as follows: 1st - 30 points, 2nd - 25 points, 3rd - 20 points, 4th - 15 points, and 5th -10 points. 21. Beef Herdsmanship Award will be determined by a silent committee and will be based on the following: sportsmanship-25 points, cleanliness of area-25 points, conduct outside of show ring25 points, and stall decorations-15 points.

General Rules 1. Exhibitors may show an unlimited number of market lambs, but will receive premiums on only 2 animals per breed. 2. Market lambs will be shown by breed, with classes divided by weight.

3. Ewe lambs may be shown as market lambs, but ewe lambs shown as market lambs will not be eligible for breeding sheep show. 4. Crossbred market lambs will be divided into black face and white/speckled face. 5. Show order of market lambs will be alphabetical with breeds represented, crossbreds will show last. 6. All Adair County market lambs must be present at the spring weigh-in for check-in. Weigh-in is optional for rate of gain. 7. Market lambs must be slick sheared to show, this includes all areas above the hock/knee and from the ears back. 8. Only 1 entry per exhibitor for pen of 3 market lambs class. Each animal exhibited in this class must have been previously exhibited in a NEMO Fair Market Lamb class this year. 9. Pen of five market Iamb class is open to any 4-H Club or FFA Chapter with only 1 entry per club/ chapter and no more than 2 lambs per exhibitor. Every animal exhibited in this class must have been previously exhibited in the same division (4-H or FFA) as an individual in a NEMO Fair Market Lamb class this year. Premiums will be paid to club leader with ribbon awarded on Danish System and premiums awarded as follows: 1st - 30 points, 2nd - 25 points, 3rd - 20 points, 4th - 15 points, 5th - 10 points, 6th - 5 points. 10. Breeding stock limited to 2 entries per class and 1 entry in group classes. 11. Animals are to be groomed or fitted by the 4-H or FFA exhibitor with assistance from the immediate family or other 4-H or FFA exhibitor only, except for shearing. (Immediate family is defined as father, mother, brothers, sisters, stepparents, step-siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and legal guardians of the exhibitor.) All animals will be groomed in the barns or immediately adjacent to the barns. 12. All breeding sheep must have been owned and cared for by exhibitor since July 1, 2011. Market lambs must be owned by and cared for by exhibitor since May 1, 2011. 13. Market lambs must be shown with all feet on ground. Placing lambs feet on exhibitor’s shoe tops is not acceptable and will not be allowed. 14. Exhibitor must show their own animals, unless exhibitor has 2 animals in the same class. 15. Market lambs are to be weighed in under exhibitors name; NOT farm or family name. 16. Minimum market lamb weight 80 pounds. Refer to sell Rule #6. (For Adair County exhibitors only) 17. Only two market lambs per exhibitor may receive premiums in rate of gain class. 18. All sheep except market lambs and commercial ewes, must be recorded in their respective breed associations in exhibitor’s name. Registration papers must be supplied at check-in.

19. No ice, ice water, or alcohol may be used externally or internally as a fitting practice. No drenching of lambs. 20. Must have 3 animals in a breed to be considered for a breed division. If not 3 animals, they can show in the all others breeds (AOB) division. 21. All animals exhibited in the Flock class must be owned by the same exhibitor, be the same breed and registered in that breed’s association, and must have been previously shown as an individual in this year’s NEMO Fair 4-H & FFA Sheep Show.

The poultry Superintendent will form classes for chickens, both large and bantam, eggs, turkeys, ducks, and geese in any of the Standard Breeds and their varieties that are officially recognized by the American Poultry Association and listed and described in the book Standard of Perfection. Point Values: Classes 1-6 and 8-11: Blue - 6, Red - 4, White - 2; Class 7: Blue - 12, Red - 8, White - 4 Entry to be made on the Livestock Entry Form. Rules 1. At check-in on Tuesday evening, participants in the Ultimate Show Person class need to bring the rabbit they will be using for this class. All other rabbits do not need to be brought, just the ear tag number and what classes you have entered. 2. All rabbits must be under the daily care and supervision of the project member by May 1, 2011. 3. All rabbits must be permanently earmarked for identification purposes with either the ownerâ€™s number in the left ear or animalâ€™s registration number in the right ear. Required on entry form. 4. Two entries allowed per class, per breed. Limit of 50 rabbits per exhibitor. 5. All animals must be entered, exhibited, handled, and shown by the project member. 6. All exhibited animals must be free of any visible

signs of infection or contagious disease or parasites. Exhibitors may be asked to remove any project animal not in good health. Dismissal will be at the discretion of the superintendent or judge. 7. Due to the limited number of cages, cages will be assigned by Superintendents. Participants in the Ultimate Show Person class will be given priority over exhibitors not enrolled in this class, for judging purposes. Every attempt will be made to see that each exhibitor has at least one cage available to use for the duration of the fair. All rabbits entered in the Ultimate Show Person class or that are assigned a cage are required to remain on the grounds until Saturday morning of the fair unless arrangements are made with the Superintendent. The Superintendents may choose to release animals early due to extreme weather or other circumstances. 8. ARBA Standards will be followed during judging. 9. Pygmy, Dairy & Meat Goat Rules

1. All goats that are to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs or an infectious or contagious disease. Health Certificates must be presented to Superintendent prior to unloading goats. 2. Goats, including castrated males, must be identified to farm of origin using official ID (eartags or tattoos) and listed on a health certificate. 3. All goats must be owned by exhibitor by June 1, 2011. 4. Classes available in the following breeds: French Alpine, Nubian, LaMancha, Saanen, Fainting, Boer, XB, Pygmy. 5. Classes may be designated or changed at the discretion of the Superintendent on day of show. 6. Exhibitors may show up to 10 Market goats, but will receive premiums on only 2 animals. 7. Market goats will be shown with classes divided by weight. 8. Market goats must be shown with all feet on ground. 9. Market Goat-Rate of Gain Class: for Adair County exhibitors only. Must be owned by and weighed in at county weigh-in and will be weighed again on Thursday, July 21 at the fair. 10. Market Goat-Home raised: for Adair County exhibitors only. 11. Points: Blue - 6, Red - 4, White - 2 Entry to be made on 4-H & FFA Dog Show Entry Form. Rules 1. To be eligible for the 4-H & FFA Dog Show, the exhibitor must be currently enrolled in the 4-H Dog Project, or a current member of FFA. 2. All handlers must wear their NEMO Fair t-shirts for each class, including the showmanship class. 3. Exhibitor must have possession of dog by April 1 of the current year. Dogs may be owned by the immediate family. Dog must be cared for by 4-H or FFA member showing the dog. 4. Members of the same family may show the same dog, but not in the same class. 5. No dog shall have been professionally trained by another person. All dogs must be trained and shown by the 4-H or FFA member(s). 6. All dogs must have immunizations up to date and be free of disease and parasites. 7. Any dog exhibiting aggressive or uncontrollable behavior towards any person or other dogs will be disqualified from all classes and must leave the grounds immediately. 8. Only one obedience class per dog. Only one showmanship class per person. 9. A dog may be shown in Pre-Novice Obedience A or B - 1 year; Pre-Novice Obedience C - 1 year; Novice - 3 years; Graduate Novice, Open and Utility - no limit. 10. Dogs with AKC obedience titles must compete in the next advanced class. 11. Proper equipment will be required. Obedience - acceptable collars include the flat buckle, or slip collar (chain or nylon). A 6 foot leash (leather or nylon). Showmanship - Appropriate showmanship lead required. No special collars (such as prong or shock collars) will be permitted; nothing may be hanging from the collar. 12. Showmanship classes will be judged on: poise, appearance and handling skills of handler, appearance and knowledge of dog. Class will be divided by age and experience. Novice class is for the members that have competed less than 2 years, open class is for the members that have competed more than 1 year. 13. Grooming classes: Dog must be groomed by the 4-H or FFA member. Class is judged on how well dogs are groomed, appearance, health and

members knowledge. Class will be divided into long and short haired dogs and by memberâ€™s age. 14. Trophy winners in obedience classes must have a qualifying score. Pre-Novice - 120, Novice, Graduate Novice, Open and Utility - 170. 15. Overall dog is determined by the ribbon points accumulated on the individual dog. Ties broken by trophy placement. 16. Dog show participants are responsible for clean up of any waste or accident their animal(s) have during the show, as well as any hair from grooming. Supplies are provided along with an outdoor trashcan to dispose of any waste. We are lucky to have such a nice show site, letâ€™s keep it clean. To be eligible for the 4-H & FFA Cat Show, the exhibitor must be currently enrolled in the 4-H Cat Project, or a current member of FFA. 2. Kittens less than 4 months old will not be accepted for show. 3. Cats must be under the control of the exhibitor at all times. Any cat showing aggressive or inappropriate behavior will be asked to leave. 4. Cats must be in the exhibitor’s possession by May 1, 2011. No cat not listed may be added at the show. 5. Limit of 3 cats per exhibitor. 6. Cats should be brought to the show in an appropriate cage, such as a pet carrier or wire transport cage. Exhibitors will be responsible for providing any water, food, etc., that their cat requires. 7. Showmanship will be judged on the exhibitor’s ability to present their cat to the judge, answer questions regarding general cat knowledge, cat care and any trick that the cat might do. Presenting the cat includes posing the cat on the exam table in a natural and pleasing manner. Demonstrating general cat knowledge regarding food and water, litter training, teaching tricks, health issues, etc. 8. Cats must be free of fleas, ticks, ear mites, ringworm, and other parasites and infectious diseases. Cats are required to have current rabies, distemper, panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and feline leukemia vaccinations. Proof of vaccinations must be presented at check-in. One of the following will be accepted as proof of vaccinations: vet. health

certification form with a veterinarian’s signature, vaccination printout, or vaccination receipt. 4-Her’s vaccinating their cats must provide proof in the form of a statement from their veterinarian or by turning in the serum vials and showing rabies tag. 9. If cat is not de-clawed, the claws must be clipped. 10. NO expectant or nursing cats may be entered. 11. Any cat not meeting health requirements will not be judged and will be asked to leave the show building. 12. All exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their animals. 13. Any cat/kitten, male or female, 4 months of age or older exhibited, in the costume class, may be dressed up any way the exhibitor chooses. Cats can NOT be painted or dyed any unnatural hair color. Each exhibitor shall be required to wear the official 4-H/FFA t-shirt of the fair and their assigned exhibitor number at the time of all judging events. 2. Items made by 4-H members should reflect the skills they have learned in their 4-H project, the needs and interests of the 4-H’er, and quality workmanship. Use the 4-H project literature and the “Clover” for exhibit ideas and criteria. “4-H is an out-of-school education program. Consequently, articles made in school under the supervision of teachers and on which students receive school credit do not qualify as 4-H project work. This is a duplication of credit for single effort and to a large extent, prevents 4-H from achieving its full objectives.” 3. Exhibits are displayed at the risk of the individual 4-H/FFA member. The 4-H staff, FFA staff, University Extension Council or staff is not responsible for loss or damage to items. 4. Only Adair County 4-H and FFA exhibitors may advance to the State Fair. Those exhibits from outside Adair County will have had the opportunity for state fair evaluation in the home county of the exhibitor. 6. 4-H members may exhibit only in projects in which they are enrolled in the current 4-H year. Items exhibited must be made in the current year and must be the work of the 4-H member submitting the exhibit. Scrapbooks made in projects other than class 315 will be displayed in the Library. 7. A member may enter up to three exhibit items per project. Each item must be listed on the Building Voucher entry form to avoid a late entry fee. Registration Deadline is July 1. A late fee of $2.00 per item will be assessed on all entries postmarked after July 1. Late building exhibitor entries accepted at the NEMO Fair Office until July 18, at 8:00 a.m. and judged last; as opposed to late additions to the building voucher which will be accessed the designated fee but will be judged according to the regular schedule. (See judging schedule). 8. The following items will be accepted/displayed at the Missouri State Fair in the Library which allows fairgoers to touch and examine the items:

notebooks (three ring binders are preferred), posters (flat only; do not fasten items to the poster), file card systems. These items will be accepted from any project. Youths who exhibit notebooks, posters, or file card systems should understand that their exhibit will be used and touched. 9. Where the exhibit list states “any item made”, the 4-H member may display any item made in that project. This includes notebooks, file cards, photo displays, posters or educational displays. Regardless of project, the following dimensions must be used. Items which do not comply with size or other specifications will not receive a premium or ribbon. Posters - No larger than 14” X 22”, flat only, do not fasten three-dimensional items to the poster. Photo Display - Full state fair guidelines and definitions are provided on pages 2-4 of the following link http://4h.missouri.edu/go/events/ statefair/photoguidelines.pdf. * All photos should be mounted on a 11” x 14” mat board, photographers may mount the photograph to the mat board using an acceptable adhesive or approved corner mounts. * A color single window mat (sometimes referred to as a frame) is acceptable if appropriate. * Photos can be mounted either horizontally or vertically with no writing or labels on the mat board. * Margins are at the discretion of the photographer. * No photos using glass and/or wooden, brass, plastic frames, etc. * Photo stories must consist of no more than 4 photographs. * To protect exhibits from dust and moisture, photos must be placed in a two-gallon zip- lock-style bag. * Exhibits not meeting these guidelines will not be judged, displayed, or receive premiums or ribbons. * Photo Editing - Photo enhancing is permitted. Photo Altering is not permitted. Please see full state fair guidelines for definitions and examples of each. Educational Display - Must not exceed 11 inches in height, 12 inches in depth (front to back) and 14 inches in width. Must include threedimensional items and stand alone. Posters with items taped to them do not qualify as an educational display. Entomology or Geology Display Boxes - Box must be exactly no more than 18” long X 24” wide and 3 1/2” deep to fit in display racks at the Missouri State Fair. Plexiglas or plastic covers are preferred. No handles or knobs. Boxes are

displayed in upright racks. Working Models - These exhibits should show how things actually work (cutaway-sections of motors or computers) or can be used to help people identify parts such as parts of a motor or computer. Many times these exhibits are considered “hands-on” and can be handled by visitors. Working models should require floor space no larger than 14” x 22” with a height limit of 30”. Decorated Cakes - The use of forms or pans is recommended. Must only use Royal Icing, Rolled Fondant or Commercial Product (i.e. DAPP) that will harden and preserve the decorated cake. No real cakes or butter crème icing or tube/gel icing will be accepted. Cake boards should not exceed 1” margin on each side of cake pan or form. Cakes should not exceed 13” in height or at the base. Scrapbooking - Exhibits should be only 1 page 1 side representative of the complete scrapbook. * Size not to exceed 12” x 12”. * All pages should be in clear protective sleeve or clear zipper bag. Edible vegetables will be donated to a charitable organization. 11. The assigned point value must be used unless approved by the 4-H Superintendent. 12. No early removal or check-out of exhibits is permitted. Exhibits which are removed before release times will not be awarded premium monies and/or ribbons or trophies. 13. All dresses and similar items to be exhibited on hangers must be entered on hangers. 14. Shooting Sports exhibits should contain no live ammunition and arrow points should be removed. 15. If a member is unable to exhibit his/her project, that member must have requested, in writing, permission from the 4-H & FFA Liaison Committee to exhibit in absentia by July 1. Exhibits to be entered must be accompanied by written approval from 4-H & FFA liaison. 16. Large/heavy objects, projects with glass, etc., may not be able to be shipped to the Missouri State Fair. Items too large for display in the 4-H Building will not be accepted for exhibit at the Missouri State Fair, but one photo of the item, no larger than 5 x 7, will be accepted. 17. Conference Judging: All 4-H exhibitors will confer with the judge in that project area while the judge examines the project. Entry and judging will take place simultaneously from 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 18 in the 4-H & FFA Building. Please follow the schedule below as closely as possible. Exhibit check-in will be staged in the west end of the 4-H and FFA Building (follow

posted signs); entrance to the staging area will be monitored and limited to 15 minutes prior to scheduled judging period. The building will close at 1:00 p.m. or as soon as judging is completed, and will remain closed until all state fair items and trophies have been selected and project displays finalized. All exhibits (including state fair items) will be released Saturday, July 23 following the completion of a photograph scheduled for 9:00 a.m. of all trophy winners and their exhibits. All exhibits need to be picked up by 11:00 a.m. Any item(s) not claimed will be left at the exhibitors risk and will be taken to the NEMO Fair Office. Item(s) will be kept for two weeks. 18. Hams will be dually enrolled in the Youth Division of the Country Ham Class and may become eligible for sale if selected as champion. Hams in this class must consist of hams that have been cured country style. Ham weights accepted from 10 pounds to 22 pounds, inclusive. Hams in this class will be divided by weight after they are entered into the show by the Superintendent to equalize class size. FFA DIVISION Superintendent: Jason Dimmitt This section provides an opportunity for the public to develop an appreciation of this important phase of agricultural education and FFA programs. Also, it provides a means of giving recognition for accomplishments in this area and furnishes opportunities for exchanging ideas. Please remember to pre-register by July 1 on the 4-H & FFA Building Voucher. FFA COUNTRY CURED HAMS EXHIBITS 1. Hams in this class must consist of hams that have been cured country style. 2. Ham weights accepted from 10 pounds to 22 pounds, inclusive. 3. Top FFA ham overall (Adair County exhibitors only) will be eligible to sell at the livestock sale. 4. The number of entries shall not exceed 2 per person. 5. Hams in this class will be divided by weight after they are entered into the show by the Superintendent to equalize class size. 6. Commercial hams in this class will consist of whole hams with bone in and may not be cut or sliced. Hams shall be cured mildly and may or

may not be tenderized. This class is considered to consist principally of pumped hams. 7. To maximize the member’s learning experience, members showing in youth classes are encouraged to do their own project work. The parent and child should decide how much the member is able to do on their own, but having someone else totally do the work for the member is inappropriate. 8. All hams in this class must be USDA inspected either at the origin or at the end of processing. Verification of inspection should be available upon request.

FFA Country Cured Ham Trophy Sponsored by Western’s Meat Market Class # Class Name 2115 Country Cured Ham FFA AGRICULTURAL MECHANICS EXHIBIT 1. Articles exhibited must have been constructed by FFA members either as part of their agricultural mechanics instruction in agricultural education or as part of their supervised occupational experience programs. 2. An article can be shown only once at the State Fair, but does not have to be constructed during the year it is exhibited. 3. All articles must be painted or properly treated in the case of feeders, etc. All articles must be clean and in presentable condition even though they may have been used. 4. Each exhibitor is limited to a total of two entries of the same kind of project. 5. The points awarded a project are based upon the amount and difficulty of the work involved, difficulty and cost of moving, and the cost of materials. The Superintendent may award/adjust points as it appears necessary in order to keep the points in balance. 6. Projects built to be used as one unit should be entered as one entry and not entered separately. (Ex.: Trailer ramps should not be entered separately from the trailer if the trailer is being exhibited.) 7. Exhibits must be checked in Monday, July 18 by noon. All exhibits will be released on Saturday, July 23, between 8-10 a.m. Any items not picked up are left at exhibitor’s risk. 8. Only blue ribbon exhibits can be selected for a trophy or award.
