The evolution of the safety footwear market

The outlook for the development of the global safety footwear market remains positive which, according to the latest expert projections, is set to grow at a constant growth rate (CAGR) of 7.4 percent over the next ten years to reach sales of $23.6 billion by 2033. As major manufacturers increase their offerings of increasingly secure and high-performance products and as more stringent regulations are enforced in emerging markets, the industry is expected to grow significantly worldwide.

At the product level, among the technical requirements gaining increasing relevance, protection toward electrical discharge risk is becoming crucial as hybrid and all-electric vehicles become more prevalent. Among the new trends, the increasing weight of ergonomic safety footwear that helps reduce stress and provide greater support for the feet should also be highlighted. In fact, musculoskeletal disorders are recognized as a major cause of inability to work. Back pain and joint pain are often related to posture, loads lifted and fatigue in general. According to experts, an ergonomic approach to the design and production of safety shoes can therefore increase the customer base and customer loyalty, contributing to the growth of the industrial safety footwear market.

Another challenge in the focus of safety shoe manufacturers is, of course, also environmental. The increasing use of recycled materials is a first response to the demand for greater sustainability coming from the market, along with the search for innovative components and processes that help reduce the climate footprint of products.

Grazie all'aumento dell’offerta di prodotti sempre più sicuri e performanti da parte dei principali produttori e all’applicazione di normative più stringenti nei mercati emergenti, si prevede una crescita significativa del settore a livello mondiale.

A livello di prodotto, tra i requisiti tecnici che acquistano sempre più rilevanza, la protezione verso il rischio da scarica elettrica diventa cruciale con l'aumento della diffusione dei veicoli ibridi e completamente elettrici. Tra le nuove tendenze, va evidenziato anche il peso crescente delle calzature di sicurezza ergonomiche che contribuiscono a ridurre le tensioni e a fornire un maggior sostegno ai piedi. I disturbi muscolo-scheletrici sono infatti riconosciuti come una delle principali cause di incapacità al lavoro. Mal di schiena e dolori articolari sono spesso legati alla postura, ai carichi sollevati e in generale alla fatica. Secondo gli esperti, un approccio ergonomico alla progettazione e alla produzione di scarpe antinfortunistiche può dunque aumentare la base di clienti e la loro fedeltà, contribuendo alla crescita del mercato delle calzature antinfortunistiche industriali.

Un’altra sfida al centro dell’attenzione dei produttori di scarpe antinfortunistiche è naturalmente anche quella ambientale. L’utilizzo crescente di materiali riciclati è una prima risposta alla richiesta di maggiore sostenibilità che arriva dal mercato, insieme alla ricerca di componenti e processi innovativi che aiutino a ridurre l’impronta climatica dei prodotti.

ALL SET FOR THE A+A 2023 German event dedicated to safety opens on October 24th in Düsseldorf. There will be talk of digitization, sustainability and ergonomics.

TUTTO PRONTO PER LA A+A 2023 Apre il 24 ottobre a Düsseldorf la manifestazione tedesca dedicata alla sicurezza. In fiera e durante i forum si parlerà di digitalizzazione, sostenibilità ed ergonomia.

Scheduled to take place in Düsseldorf Oct. 24-27, the international trade fair for safety and health at work held every two years in Germany is preparing for a very important edition with participation levels that are expected to be higher than pre-Covid.

This year the overall theme of the leading international trade fair will be two megatrends: digitization and sustainability. Under the motto "People Matter," exhibitors will present at A+A 2023 innovative solutions and concepts dedicated to safe and healthy work with a focus on PPE ergonomics. A concept, that of ergonomics, which is also becoming particularly important in the area of safety footwear as a measure to prevent pain in the musculoskeletal system.

In addition to several daily fashion shows, visitors will be treated to a variety of topic-specific forums and an extensive program of internationally renowned conferences, including the 38th International Congress for Occupational Safety and Health and WearRAcon Europe the conference dedicated to wearable technology organized by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) and the University of Stuttgart's Institute of Industrial Manufacturing and Management (IFF), which will be held for the first time in Germany as part of A+A to present the latest innovations in wearable robotics, with a focus on work exoskeletons. Logistically, a reorganization of exhibition space is reported. The organizers announce that they have optimized the route within the fairgrounds: the halls have been segmented by theme, thus placing similar products and services in close proximity to each other. In this way, visitors can more easily locate companies exhibiting ranges of particular interest to them and find their way around the fairgrounds. For the first time, Halls 16 and 17 will host Corporate Wear, while Hall 15 will be dedicated to the full range of components and accessories for the production of protective clothing. Completely renovated Hall 1 (which has incorporated Hall 2) will be used for the first time by this event. Significant is the Italian participation, which in terms of number of participants is the second largest nation after Germany with an occupied area of more than 7 thousand square meters.

Quest'anno il tema generale della fiera leader a livello internazionale sarà rappresentato da due megatrend: digitalizzazione e sostenibilità.

All'insegna del motto "People Matter", gli espositori presenteranno alla A+A 2023 soluzioni e concetti innovativi dedicati al lavoro sicuro e salutare con un’attenzione particolare all’ergonomia dei DPI. Un concetto, quello dell’ergonomia, che sta diventando particolarmente importante anche nel comparto delle calzature antinfortunistiche come misura di prevenzione dei dolori all’apparato muscolo-scheletrico. Oltre a svariate sfilate di moda quotidiane, i visitatori avranno a disposizione svariati forum dedicati ad argomenti specifici e un vasto programma di congressi di richiamo internazionale, tra cui spicca il 38° Congresso internazionale per la sicurezza sul lavoro e la medicina del lavoro e il WearRAcon Europe, la conferenza dedicata alla tecnologia indossabile organizzata dal Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) e dalla University of Stuttgart’s Institute of Industrial Manufacturing and Management (IFF) che si terrà per la prima volta in Germania nell'ambito di A+A per presentare le più recenti innovazioni in tema di robotica indossabile, con particolare attenzione agli esoscheletri da lavoro.

Dal punto di vista logistico, si segnala una riorganizzazione degli spazi espositivi. Gli organizzatori annunciano di aver ottimizzato il percorso all'interno del quartiere fieristico: i padiglioni sono stati segmentati per tema, collocando così prodotti e servizi simili in stretta vicinanza tra loro. In questo modo i visitatori possono individuare più facilmente le aziende che espongono gamme di loro particolare interesse e orientarsi nel quartiere fieristico. Per la prima volta i padiglioni 16 e 17 ospiteranno il Corporate Wear, mentre il padiglione 15 sarà dedicato all'intera gamma di componenti e accessori per la produzione di abbigliamento protettivo. Completamente rinnovato il padiglione 1 (che ha inglobato il 2) che verrà utilizzato per la prima volta da questa manifestazione.

Significativa la partecipazione italiana che per numero di partecipanti è la seconda nazione in ordine di importanza dopo la Germania con una superficie occupata superiore ai 7mila metri quadri.

From 2017 to 2022, the global industrial safety footwear market recorded a relatively higher CAGR of 12.1 percent. The reasons for a less bright pace are related to the decline in industrial activities experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic. Business closures and production shutdowns affected the demand for industrial safety footwear particularly in the years 2020 and 2021. Future Market Insights experts expect the market to partially recover between 2023 and 2028.

Thanks to increased innovative product development by major players and the implementation of stricter regulations in emerging markets, the industry is expected to grow significantly. Among the most in-demand requirements is protection toward the risk of electric shock, which is becoming increasingly important with the rise in popularity of hybrid and all-electric vehicles. Construction and agricultural industry operations are also likely to increase demand for safety footwear.

The American company aims to strengthen and improve its position through a local technical sales presence. The goal is to be closer, effective and efficient in best interpreting market and customer needs, in line with the "Think Global-Act Local" strategy, JV International explains in a statement.

"The United States and Canada are proving to be extremely receptive nations to our technologies, and many brands are choosing JVI for the development of their soles. Opening a subsidiary in America was a direct consequence of the increasingly constant presence of American brands within our portfolio," Andrea de Pascale, International Sales & Marketing Director of JV International, explains in a note. "I am happy to be able to say with certainty that today this geographical area plays an important role in our strategies and is constantly evolving."

Heading JV North America will be Glen McKibben, as VP-General Manager. McKibben, who has more than 20 years of experience within many of the major international brands in the sporting world, will lead all of the Italian company's business units overseas.

In contrast, the Arizona model features an upper made of Birko-Flor®, a tear-resistant, easy-to-clean synthetic material, and two iconic buckles. It features a shock-absorbing EVA midsole and rubber outsole and is distinguished by its comfortable features that ensure optimal foot roll. The slip-resistant version is composed of an oil- and grease-resistant outsole and tested according to EN ISO 20347:2012 SRA. The one with the additional ESD feature provides protection against spontaneous static discharge.

Tokio is the ideal sabot for all professions, thanks to its adjustable heel strap design that allows the wearer to experience maximum comfort.

The EVA rubber midsole, featured in the slip-resistant model, cushions the impact of the foot on the ground with each step, providing added stability. These are highly valued features, especially by those who work in the medical and health care, catering and often spend many hours on their feet.

The ESD version, also with a suede footbed, protects both the person and work materials in particularly sensitive environments, such as in the semiconductor and automotive industries.

Finally, Linz is a closed carp composed of soft material that hugs the foot and protects it from injury and impact. In addition, the adjustable Velcro strap that wraps around the heel ensures optimal foot support.

In the slip-resistant version, the EVA midsole cushions the foot's impact with the ground during walking, while the rubber outsole allows maximum grip on floors where various oils or greases are present.

L’intersuola in gomma EVA, presente nel modello antiscivolo, ammortizza l’impatto del piede sul suolo ad ogni passo, offrendo una maggiore stabilità. Si tratta di caratteristiche molto apprezzate soprattutto da chi lavora in ambito medico-sanitario, della ristorazione e trascorre spesso molte ore in piedi. La versione ESD, anch’essa con il plantare in pelle scamosciata, protegge sia la persona che i materiali di lavoro in ambienti particolarmente sensibili, come per esempio nell’industria dei semiconduttori e automotive.

Also of interest is the Primato 37.5® line of workwear (polo shirts and T-shirts) made with a technology that maintains a personal microclimate relative humidity of 37.5 percent, removes sweat in the vapor phase (before liquid sweat is formed) and traps odors by releasing them upon washing.

In recent years, under a great industrial vision of the Elachem® Epaflex Group ownership, a compact, young and motivated team made up of different but complementary experiences with the mission "customer first" has also been formed. Let's get to know them better.

First the ladies, Ms. Daniela Baldi, Global Commercial Lead Footwear TPU, who has been taking the reins of the commercial side for thermoplastic for a few months now. Please tell us something about yourself and why you chose the Elachem® Epaflex Group?

"For several years I worked in the world of plastic trading with one of the largest distribution companies in Europe, where I found the development of technopolymers in particular, and among them, TPU, very interesting.

When the Elachem® Epaflex Group offered me to join the team to pursue an ambitious footwear market development program, I thought about the enrichment possibilities that lay ahead. The investments made by the ownership in technology and product improvement as well as a substantial business plan showed me the seriousness of the project. But it is above all having found a fantastic group of competent and enthusiastic people that made me decide to embark on this exciting new journey in the world of footwear."

Let us now turn to Mr. Maurizio Grieco, Senior Sales Manager Footwear, who has started his new career path. What made you choose the Elachem® Epaflex Group?

No business part will succeed unless it is fully and effectively supported by a top-notch technical team. We are pleased to introduce Technical Service Manager Footwear TPU, Mr. Telemaco Licchielli. What have you found in this group and what contributions will you be able to implement?

"I have found an ambitious group, prepared and motivated to achieve the ambitious goals that we have set for ourselves and on which the company is aiming with great determination. For my part, I am convinced that I can contribute to the success of the project related to the world of footwear, making my more than ten years of experience in the field of footwear production (especially in the field of sneakers and sports footwear) available to the company and my colleagues. I well understand the quality and efficiency requirements of those who have to produce high-quality footwear every day, and I am confident that I can transfer them to my colleagues so that they can develop products that fully meet them."

Similar path but oriented towards footwear systems, Dr. Fabrizio Badolato, Technical Responsible PU system Footwear. Can you share with us your vision for the Elachem® Epaflex Group in the near future?

"It has now been a few years since I joined the Elachem® Epaflex Group and I have had the privilege of seeing this team grow in terms of numbers and in addition to being able to observe how each person has integrated perfectly in a very short time into a mechanism that is now perfectly oiled.

The future is certainly bright, full of challenges of course, but also of personal and professional satisfaction. Personally I can say that I have taken away some significant satisfactions in markets such as Spain and Portugal, where before our presence was marginal but where today we offer innovative materials and 5-star service."

Last but not least, the new generations such as Mr. Roberto Todaro and Mr. Matteo Lanzoni who have always been with the Elachem® Epaflex Group first as R&D and who have been entering the market for some time now. What do you expect from this new experience?

"My story," comments Mr. Todaro, "begins in the Elachem® Epaflex Group in 2015, at first in the systems department, and then I got closer and closer 'in the heart' of the company, namely the R&D part. Here I had the good fortune to have by my side, one of the best experts in the field, Mr. Tiozzo, who not only got me hooked, but was also able to pass on much of his mechanical and formulation knowledge to me. But this is just the beginning of my professional journey, I still have many challenges ahead that I feel ready to face."

"I, on the other hand," Mr. Lanzoni tells us, "arrived only at the beginning of 2022 but immediately found a united and dynamic team. From this experi-

ence I expect a professional but also a personal growth, because I believe that getting involved, especially in different contexts, is a great stimulus."

The management of the Elachem® Epaflex Polyurethanes Group focuses heavily on the human face of the company and the professional development of its employees. “Per diversi anni ho lavorato nel mondo del commercio di materia plastica con una delle maggiori aziende di distribuzione in Europa, dove ho trovato molto interessante soprattutto lo sviluppo dei tecnopolimeri e, tra questi, anche il TPU. Quando il Gruppo Elachem® Epaflex mi ha proposto di unirmi alla squadra per portare avanti un ambizioso programma di sviluppo del mercato del footwear, ho pensato alle possibilità di arricchimento che mi si prospettavano. Gli investimenti fatti dalla proprietà in tecnologie e nel miglioramento dei prodotti oltre che un consistente piano industriale, mi hanno mostrato la serietà del progetto. Ma è soprattutto l’aver trovato un fantastico gruppo di persone competenti ed entusiaste che mi ha fatto decidere di intraprendere questo nuovo stimolante viaggio nel mondo della calzatura”.

Percorso simile ma orientato ai sistemi da calzatura, Dr. Fabrizio Badolato, Technical Responsible PU system Footwear. Può condividere con noi la sua visione del Gruppo Elachem® Epaflex nel prossimo futuro?

“E’ ormai passato qualche anno da quando mi sono unito al Gruppo Elachem® Epaflex e ho avuto il privilegio di vedere questo team crescere in termini numerici e oltre che poter osservare come ogni persona si sia integrata perfettamente in brevissimo tempo in un meccanismo che oggi risulta perfettamente oliato. Il futuro è sicuramente roseo, pieno di sfide certo, ma anche di soddisfazioni personali e professionali. Personalmente posso dire che mi sono tolto alcune significative soddisfazioni in mercati come Spagna e Portogallo, dove prima la nostra presenza era marginale ma dove oggi proponiamo materiali innovativi e un servizio a 5 stelle”.

Non per ultimi, le nuove generazioni quali Mr. Roberto Todaro e Mr. Matteo Lanzoni da sempre in forza al Gruppo Elachem® Epaflex prima come R&D e che da qualche tempo si stanno affacciando sul mercato. Cosa vi aspettate da questa nuova esperienza?

“La mia storia – commenta Mr. Todaro – inizia nel Gruppo Elachem® Epaflex nel 2015, in un primo momento nel reparto sistemi, per poi avvicinarmi sempre di più “nel cuore” dell’azienda, ovvero la parte di R&D. Qui ho avuto la fortuna di aver al mio fianco, uno dei miglior esperti del settore, il Mr. Tiozzo che, oltre ad avermi fatto appassionare, è stato in grado di trasmettermi gran parte delle sue nozioni meccaniche e formulative. Ma questo è solo l’inizio del mio percorso professionale, ho ancora molte sfide davanti che mi sento pronto ad affrontare”.

“Io invece – ci dice Mr. Lanzoni – sono arrivato solo ad inizio 2022 ma da subito ho trovato un team unito e dinamico. Da questa esperienza mi aspetto una crescita lavorativa ma anche personale, perché ritengo che mettersi in gioco, soprattutto in contesti diversi, sia di grande stimolo”.

Il management del Gruppo Elachem® Epaflex Polyurethanes punta molto sul volto umano dell’azienda e sullo sviluppo professionale dei suoi collaboratori. Un connubio questo che, unito ai notevoli investimenti degli ultimi anni mirati alla calzatura e alla produzione di poliesteri, li rende fieri e ottimisti per il futuro.

Passiamo ora a Mr. Maurizio Grieco, Senior Sales Manager Footwear, che ha iniziato il suo nuovo percorso professionale. Cosa le ha fatto scegliere il Gruppo Elachem® Epaflex?

RE-YU: STEMMA INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR RECYCLING POLYURETHANE FOAMS Presented at SIMAC '23, the system for reusing waste polyurethane as a new resource in footwear production.

RE-YU technology also allows experimentation with the use of different types of powders derived, for example, from upper cuttings, fibrous elements, rubber parts, and other scraps. An opening to additional material sources further expands recycling possibilities in the footwear industry.

SECTION OF A RECYCLED SOLE WITH RE-YU TECHNOLOGY SEZIONE DI UNA SUOLA RICICLATA CON TECNOLOGIA RE-YU

Reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability, these are the concepts behind RE-YU, the technology and recycling plant developed by Stemma that enables the reuse of all waste from polyurethane sole molding processes (sprues, trimming burrs, defective soles, etc.). These materials, otherwise destined for landfill, are first reduced to a very fine, homogeneous powder by a special pulverization system, and then used as an additive in subsequent polyurethane injection processes.

The result is soles in line with current trends, where the use of recycled material inside them for unprecedented aesthetic solutions stands out. A circular economy process that by reducing the use and costs associated with raw materials and waste disposal, actively contributes to environmental protection and reduced product costs.

RE-YU is designed to integrate efficiently with Stemma's direct injection moulding machines without requiring modifications or replacements of injectors or moulds. This also allows for no wasted time and the production of items in "virgin" or "additive" material in the same machine cycle.

Laboratory tests have shown that soles made with RE-YU, containing up to 15 percent recycled polyurethane blended into the total weight, maintain their technical and quality characteristics virtually unchanged when compared to those made from new materials.

Ridurre l’impatto ambientale e promuovere la sostenibilità, sono questi i concetti alla base di RE-YU, la tecnologia e l’impianto di riciclaggio sviluppati da Stemma che permettono il riutilizzo di tutti gli scarti derivanti dai processi di stampaggio di suole di poliuretano (materozze, bave di rifilatura, suole difettate ecc.). Questi materiali, altrimenti destinati alla discarica, vengono prima ridotti in una polvere finissima ed omogenea mediante un particolare sistema di polverizzazione, per poi essere utilizzati come additivo nei successivi processi di iniezione del poliuretano.

Il risultato sono suole in linea con le tendenze del momento, dove risalta l'utilizzo di materiale riciclato al loro interno per inedite soluzioni estetiche. Un processo di economia circolare che riducendo l'uso e i costi legati alle materie prime e allo smaltimento di rifiuti, contribuisce attivamente alla salvaguardia dell'ambiente e alla riduzione dei costi del prodotto.

RE-YU è stato progettato per integrarsi in modo efficiente con le macchine di stampaggio per iniezione diretta di Stemma, senza richiedere modifiche o sostituzioni degli iniettori o degli stampi. Ciò consente inoltre di non avere sprechi di tempo e di produrre articoli in materiale "vergine" o “addizionato” nello stesso ciclo macchina.

I test di laboratorio hanno dimostrato che le suole prodotte con RE-YU, contenenti fino a un 15% di poliuretano riciclato miscelato nel peso totale, mantengono pressoché inalterate le loro caratteristiche tecniche e qualitative se confrontate a quelle realizzate con materiali nuovi.

La tecnologia RE-YU permette inoltre di sperimentare l’utilizzo di diverse tipologie di polveri derivate, ad esempio, da ritagli di tomaia, elementi fibrosi, parti in gomma e altri scarti. Un’apertura a fonti di materiale aggiuntive che amplia ulteriormente le possibilità di riciclaggio nel settore calzaturiero.

At the A+A 2023 trade fair in Düsseldorf, Garsport presents an exclusive preview of an innovative product line. Thanks to the knowhow acquired in its more than 50 years of production experience, and after in-depth studies and research, the Italian footwear factory in Volpago del Montello (TV) has created the new Hexalight line that offers an unprecedented level of comfort and lightness, managing to exploit the physical characteristics of polyurethane, combined with those of physics.

The heart of the innovative system is the new Hexalight sole, which represents a new way of conceiving lightness and comfort in footwear. The tread is made through direct injection onto uppers of compact, bi-density polyurethane that provides excellent grip, able to pander to and brilliantly pass the new tests imposed by the 20345:2022 standard. But it is the midsole, made of lightweight, low-density polyurethane foam, that is the main innovation. Thanks to open holes placed in the heel area, the shoe acquires additional lightness and cushioning during use. The holes, conical in shape, take advantage of the principles of physics and allow the footwear to be given structure, while also giving any residue or material debris the opportunity to be able to be discharged outward, should the footwear be used outdoors.

Cuore dell’innovativo sistema è la nuova suola Hexalight che rappresenta un nuovo modo di concepire la leggerezza ed il comfort delle calzature. Il battistrada è realizzato attraverso l’iniezione diretta su tomaia di poliuretano compatto bi-densità che garantisce un grip eccellente, in grado di assecondare e superare brillantemente i nuovi test imposti dalla normativa 20345:2022. Ma è l’intersuola, in poliuretano espanso, leggero e a bassa densità, a rappresentare l’innovazione principale. Grazie ai fori aperti posti nella zona del tallone, la calzatura acquisisce ulteriore leggerezza e ammortizzazione durante l’utilizzo. I fori, di forma conica, sfruttano i principi della fisica e consentono di dare struttura alla calzatura, dando inoltre la possibilità ad eventuali residui o detriti di materiale di poter essere scaricati verso l’esterno, qualora la calzatura venga utilizzata in ambienti esterni.

La nuova suola Hexalight, oltre che ad essere innovativa e performante, ha anche un occhio di riguardo in termini di ecosostenibilità e rispetto verso l’ambiente: grazie alla sua struttura, riduce lo spreco e l’utilizzo del materiale poliuretanico in fase di iniezione.

La linea Hexalight si comporrà di vari nuovi modelli, a taglio Mid, Basso, in S1p/S3, per assicurare la scelta del modello più idoneo alle esigenze del consumatore finale.

Comfortable, lightweight and safe. These are the shoes with uppers made by Sneaknit, a start-up company from the Marche region specializing in using the best knitting technologies to produce materials for footwear and bags in a sustainable way. They are also ideal for the safety world, which the company now addresses by offering a wide variety of innovative solutions and customizable textures. "Our uppers," explain the 2019-born company, which is already gaining great acclaim in the market, "are composed of a high-tenacity textile fiber that does not allow perforation, a key feature for footwear used by people working in places or factories where the risk of encountering nails or the like is very high and continuous”.

But there are other advantages of knitting technology as well. The upper made in this way is a single piece, with no seams to create discomfort. It also reacts to heat and adapts perfectly to the shape of the foot, creating a state of comfort, lightness and breathability.

Its use is quick and economical. The semi-finished product is ready for assembly with a strong reduction in complexity and production time: at least 40% less than the normal cutting and stitching process with processing time reduced by 30 days compared to the standard according to company estimates.

A system that also brings significant benefits to the environment.

Thanks to the use of recycled yarn from plastics, 5 to 15 plastic bottles are removed from the environment for every pair of shoes produced.

Not only that. By virtue of their special construction, Sneaknit uppers do not need the handling of semi-finished products and produce no processing waste, significantly lowering the environmental footprint of the entire process.

Sono le calzature con tomaie realizzate da Sneaknit, start-up marchigiana specializzata nell’utilizzo delle migliori tecnologie di knitting per produrre materiali per calzature e borse in modo sostenibile. Il semilavorato è già pronto per il montaggio con forte riduzione della complessità e dei tempi di produzione: almeno il 40% in meno rispetto al normale processo di taglio e orlatura con tempi di trasformazione ridotti di 30 giorni rispetto allo standard secondo le stime aziendali.

Un sistema che apporta notevoli vantaggi anche all’ambiente. Grazie all’utilizzo di filati riciclati da plastiche vengono rimosse dall'ambiente da 5 a 15 bottigliette di plastica per ogni paio di scarpe prodotte.

Non solo. In virtù della loro particolare costruzione, le tomaie Sneaknit non hanno bisogno della movimentazione dei semilavorati e non producono scarti di lavorazione, abbassando notevolmente l’impronta ambientale dell’intero processo.
