The success of Made in Italy at the two promotional days organised in November by the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi and ICE Agency, with the participation of CNA Federmoda, opens up a number of interesting possibilities for the footwear manufacturing industry.

Among the five protagonists of the event, footwear together with apparel, perfumes, wine, and food, capably conquered important fans especially at the “Italian Senses” gala evening event held in collaboration with the Bank of Georgia in the splendid setting of the Solo Lounge, and at the following evening’s event organised by the Italian Ambassador in the Wine Republic, where 150 select guests were given the chance to taste the delicacies of fine Italian dining, while admiring the shoes of Wladi Rigato and enjoying the Rossorame women’s fashion shows. The evening ended in the wake of the fragrances by Sileno Cheloni.

“Georgia offers interesting opportunities for Italian quality production – declared Maurizio Ferri, Director of the ICE Office – since it includes a range of consumers in search of an exclusive product”. “We returned to Georgia after our mission last June, always in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi and ICE Agency - stated Antonio Franceschini, National Director of CNA Federmoda – since we identified a highend range in the Georgian market with great potential for Italian handcrafted productions and this was promptly reconfirmed by the feedback companies had from participants at the two evenings also thanks to the meticulous job done by the Embassy, the ICE office, and the Bank of Georgia”.

La serata si è conclusa sulla scia degli effluvi di Sileno Cheloni.

I colori, gli accenni fur e tartan, le fibbie de luxe, si mixano giocando tra eleganza e ironia. Le sneaker patchwork con maxi suole sagomate in puro dad-style si contrappongono a forme minimal. Il look è grintoso e divertente, i materiali pregiati e il confort a misura di bambino, come vuole la tradizione Gallucci. L’attenta selezione dei materiali e know how nella costruzione di modelli unici, offre una interpretazione esclusiva delle tendenze del momento.

La piattaforma luxury retail inglese Farfetch ha acquisito il marketplace specializzato in calzature e abbigliamento sportivo Stadium Goods.

Il costo dell’operazione si aggira sui 220 milioni di euro e il timing di chiusura è fissato al primo trimestre 2019.

Soddisfatto del deal, José Neves, fondatore e ceo di Farfetch, ha dichiarato: “Questa acquisizione ci permette di svilupparci nel crescente mercato delle sneakers e dello streetwear sfruttando i rispettivi punti di forza per affrontare un comparto entusiasmante e in piena crescita della moda”. Fondato nel 2015 da John McPheters e Jed Stiller, Stadium Goods non è solo una piattaforma on line, ma ha anche un negozio attivo a Soho, New York.

The colours, fur and tartan highlights, and luxury buckles are mixed together in a play of elegance and irony. Patchwork sneakers with maxi shaped soles in pure dad-style contrast with minimal shapes.

In keeping with the Gallucci tradition, the look is bold and playful, with exquisite materials and a comfort suited to children. An attentive selection of materials and expertise in the construction of unique models offers an exclusive interpretation of the most cutting-edge trends.

The English luxury retail platform Farfetch acquired the Stadium Goods marketplace specialized in athletic footwear and apparel.

The cost of the operation was around 220 million euros and the closing of the deal will occur during the first quarter of 2019.

Satisfied with the deal, José Neves, founder and CEO of Farfetch, declared: “This acquisition allows us to develop ourselves in the growing market of sneakers and streetwear, by permitting our two companies to leverage each other’s strengths in going after the exciting and fast-growing segment of luxury fashion”.

Founded in 2015 by John McPheters and Jed Stiller, Stadium Goods is not just an online platform, but also has an active store in Soho, New York.

nEWS nAScE il mOrA, il muSEO d’ArTE dEl riciclO A testimonianza di un’attenzione crescente verso il consumo consapevole e l’importanza del riciclo per tutelare il futuro dell’ambiente e dell’uomo è nato a Roma lo scorso dicembre il primo museo dedicato proprio all’arte del riciclo sotto la guida della giornalista e ambientalista Mariaceleste de Martino. Il MoRA, Museum of Recycled Art, è ospitato in una delle zone più trendy e bohemien della capitale e presenta oggetti ma anche abbigliamento e accessori realizzati con prodotti di scarto e riciclati. Tra i pezzi esposti anche le calzature decorate con i mattoncini della Lego e la borsetta realizzata con un cavo elettrico.

AdidAS ArruOlA STAn SmiTH A viTA Con il lancio il dicembre scorso della special edition Stan Smith Forever, Adidas ha annunciato di aver siglato un accordo a vita con l’icona del tennis americano, cui il marchio è legato dal 1973. Nel 1971, infatti, Adidas propose a Stan Smith di calzare il modello Haillet, che nel ’73 prese il suo nome: caratterizzato da un design semplice, ha una tomaia in pelle e tre righe di perforazione con il logo al posto delle tradizionali strisce. With the launching this past December of the special edition Stan Smith Forever, Adidas announced its signing of a life-long agreement with the icon of American tennis, who has been an endorser of the brand since 1973. In 1971, in fact, Adidas asked Stan Smith to wear the Haillet model, which in ’73 took on his name: characterised by a simple design, it has a leather upper and three perforated stripes with the logo in place of the traditional stripes. In 2011, at a distance of forty years from its debut, the Stan Smith model was reedited with the stylized image of the tennis player on the tongue and to date it continues to represent one of the most beloved and recognizable products of the brand’s collective imagery. Adidas is not the only brand, however, to have associated itself with great sports icons over the years. In fact, also basketball players like LeBron James have endorsed Nike, while Fila has had spokesmen such as Grant Hill.

Confirming the trend of growing consumer awareness and the importance of recycling in order to protect the future of the environment and mankind, this past December in Rome, the first museum dedicated to the art of recycling and headed by journalist and environmentalist Mariaceleste de Martino, made its debut.

The MoRA, Museum of Recycled Art, can be found in one of the trendiest and most bohemian areas of the capital and presents objects but also apparel and accessories made from discards and recycled products.

Among the pieces on show is also footwear decorated with Lego blocks and a bag made using an electrical cable.

L’acquisizione di azioni da parte di Blackstone in un momento di difficoltà del marchio del coccodrillo era stata rafforzata da un programma di chiusura dei punti vendita meno profittevoli, di taglio delle scorte e aumento dei margini lordi. Ora l’azienda americana riparte con nuovo slancio, mirando ad espandere la gamma di prodotti e puntando su una maggiore presenza nell’e-commerce.

Memorabile annuncio da parte della casa di moda, sintomatico del cambiamento dei tempi e della sensibilità comune verso gli animali e la moda: a partire dalle prossime collezioni, Chanel non impiegherà più pellami esotici nella realizzazione dei suoi capi di abbigliamento e accessori e la motivazione data è stata la crescente difficoltà nel dimostrare il rispetto, da parte delle catene di approvvigionamento, dei requisiti etici e di tracciabilità. Il brand non si è, invece, per il momento pronunciato in merito ad eventuali abbandoni nell’impiego di pellicce vere, sulla scia di quanto hanno fatto altri noti nomi del lusso. EPA, tra 10 anni dazio zero

In GIappone pOlarizzaziOnE dEi cOnSumi Dopo l’annuncio della sigla dell’accordo di libero scambio tra UE e Giappone durante la scorsa edizione di MICAM, a distanza di due mesi è arrivata la ratifica da parte dell’Europarlamento. Quali conseguenze ci saranno per la calzatura italiana in Giappone?

I protagonisti del settore ci rispondono.

L’Eu-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) coinvolge un giro di affari pari ad un terzo del PIL Mondiale e impatta su 635 milioni di consumatori di entrambe le sponde. Per il Vecchio Continente, l’accordo si applicherà al 99% dei prodotti e dei servizi esportati in Giappone, per un valore totale di 86 miliardi di euro. Cifra che, secondo le previsioni degli analisti, grazie all’accordo dovrebbe lievitare di almeno 13,2 miliardi di euro, a cui si aggiunge un ulteriore miliardo di risparmio per le imprese europee.

Tra i settori merceologici che beneficeranno di questa apertura c’è la calzatura, il cui export sino ad oggi era rimasto bloccato a causa di dazi vessatori (al 30%) e del

penalizzante sistema delle quote. Le trattative per il settore sono state difficili: avviate nel 2013, hanno trovato un ostacolo nella storica considerazione e nel rispetto verso la professionalità dei maestri calzaturieri giapponesi: “Alla fine abbiamo raggiunto un accordo soddisfacente – commenta Cleto Sagripanti, presidente di CEC, la Confederazione Europea dell’Industria della Calzatura– i dazi sulle calzature scenderanno subito al 21%, per poi essere progressivamente eliminati entro dieci anni”.

Alla calzatura italiana, prima nella classifica delle esportazioni europee del settore in Giappone, il nuovo accordo dischiude un mercato dal grande potenziale: “Tra dazi e

quote, per anni le esportazioni italiane in Giappone sono rimaste ferme a 3 milioni di paia – ha dichiarato Andrea Brotini, Vice Presidente Assocalzaturifici con delega i mercati asiatici, da noi intervistato a MICAM86 – Non possiamo che salutare con favore l’accordo appena stretto, temo tuttavia che, anche se da un punto di vista ufficiale stiamo andando verso una liberalizzazione dell’accesso del mercato, dal punto di vista della distribuzione non tutti i problemi si risolveranno rapidamente. Il trend negli ultimi anni non è stato positivo e si è polarizzato sul segmento delle

What will be the consequences for Italian footwear in Japan? The sector’s protagonists answer this and more.

The Eu-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) involves a turnover equal to one-third of the Global GDP, impacting 635 million consumers in both the European and Japanese markets. For the Old Continent, the agreement will be applied to 99% of the products and services exported to Japan, for a total value of 86 billion euros. According to the estimates made by analysts, thanks to this agreement, this figure should rise by at least another 13.2 billion euros, while allowing European businesses to save an additional one billion euro.

Among the product groups that will benefit from the elimination of these trade barriers is footwear, which up until today, had great difficulty in exporting to Japan because of oppressive import tariffs (equal to 30%) and a penalising system of quotas. Negotiations for lowering the tariffs in this sector were anything but easy: already under discussion since 2013, the first obstacle they found was the time-honoured tradition and well-respected profession of expert Japanese cobblers: “In the end, we arrived at a satisfying compromise – comments Cleto Sagripanti, President of CEC, the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry – the duties on footwear will immediately decrease to 21% and will then gradually be eliminated within a period of ten years”.

For Italian footwear, which is first in the classification of European footwear exports to Japan, the new agreement opens up a market with great potential: “Between duties and quotas, for years, Italian exports to Japan have remained fixed at 3 million pairs – declared Andrea Brotini, the Vice President of Assocalzaturifici also in charge of Asian markets, who we previously spoke with at MICAM86 – We can’t help but look with favour upon the agreement recently concluded. Nevertheless, I fear that even if from an official point of view, we are moving towards the liberalisation of market access, from a distributive standpoint, not all the problems will be quickly resolved. The trend in recent years has not been positive and the market has polarized between designer labels and low-cost products. Of course, the gradual lowering of import tariffs and elimination of quotas will deliver a nice shock to the country’s inflexible distribution system: we will see in the months to come just how the situation evolves, and let’s hope it is for the better”.

Gli importatori giapponesi, infatti, si stanno rivolgendo sempre più ai mercati del sud est asiatico per cercare prodotti a basso prezzo. Le nostre imprese, che hanno un prodotto medio tra i 70-80 euro al paio sono quindi penalizzate.

Ovvio che gli imprenditori siano delusi dal mercato e che rinunciano a lavorarci. Anche a Shoes from Italy Tokyo, la storica manifestazione fieristica che Assocalzaturifici e ICE Agenzia organizzano assieme a Tokyo (l’ultima edizione si è tenuta dal 5 al 7 febbraio 2019 al Belle Salle Shibuya Garden, N.d.R.) Hanno partecipato circa il -50% delle aziende calzaturiere, che sono passate da

40 della scorsa edizione alle attuali 22. È cambiato il mercato: prima in fiera i clienti giapponesi compravano senza chiedere il prezzo, ora non solo lo chiedono, ma si lamentano che è caro! E davanti a ciò le imprese non investono più nella partecipazione agli eventi fieristici nel paese”. E la vicinanza culturale tra Italia e Giappone, l’amore per il bello e ben fatto non aiuta più a vendere le calzature? “Oggi i giovani hanno perso interesse per questi valori e sono interessati di più a spendere in tecnologia che in moda, - risponde Giuseppe Mazzarella - mentre le generazioni più adulte, quelle che conoscono e apprezzano il nostro prodotto, sotto il bombardamento mediatico sulla crisi, preferiscono risparmiare. Tutto ciò ha cambiato drasticamente il sistema distributivo e, di con-

seguenza, ha ridotto il mercato per il prodotto italiano”.

Anche Marco Salani, agente per l’area Asia del calzaturificio Boemos, conferma il drammatico cambiamento del mercato giapponese: “Ho notato dei profondi cambia-

menti – dichiara – la calzatura è un prodotto che si acquista sempre meno dai distributori e nei department store, e sempre più nelle catene d’abbigliamento. Gli importatori, poi, hanno diminuito gli acquisti in Italia e si rivolgono sempre

Japanese importers, in fact, are increasingly looking to the markets of South East Asia for low-cost products. Our businesses, which have a product that costs between 70-80 euros per pair on average, are accordingly penalised. It’s no surprise that entrepreneurs are sick of the situation and have decided to stop working here. Even at Shoes from Italy Tokyo, the historic trade fair organised by Assocalzaturifici and the ICE Agency in Tokyo (editor’s note: the last edition was held from 5 to 7 February 2019 at the Belle Salle Shibuya Garden), 50% fewer footwear companies participated, decreasing from 40 at the second to last edition to the 22 businesses present today. The market has changed: previously, Japanese customers at the fair would buy without asking the price. Now, not only do they ask the price, but they complain that it is too expensive!

When faced with such a scenario, businesses decide to no longer participate in trade fairs in this country”. And what about the close ties between the Italian and Japanese cultures?

l-made products help footwear sales anymore? “Today, youths have lost interest in these values and are more interested in spending their money on technology than fashion, - replies Giuseppe Mazzarella – while the older adult generations, those who are familiar with and appreciate our product, are bombarded by media-induced panic concerning the crisis and prefer to save their money. All this has drastically changed the distribution system, and as a result, it has reduced the market share for Italian products”.

Marco Salani, sales agent in Asia for the Boemos footwear brand, also confirms the dramatic change in the Japanese market: “I have noted great changes – he declares – footwear is a product that is bought less frequently by distributors and department stores, and increasingly by chains of apparel. Importers have also reduced their purchases in Italy and increasingly address their needs to Vietnam.

The most significant drop has been recorded in the mid-range: the shoes that sell are either low-cost or designer label. As Boemos, we continue to work in this market, even if it has become more difficult. Instead of participating in Shoes from Italy Tokyo, we prefer to meet our customers one-on-one, so that we can work in serenity, while also respecting Japanese customs. For us, the EPA will change very little: for there to be a true change, a true reversal must occur, with a clear recovery in the consumer market. Even fashion is

più spesso in Vietnam. Il calo più sensibile si è registrato sulla gamma media: si vendono le scarpe a basso prezzo o, altrimenti, le griffe. Noi come Boemos continuiamo a lavorare sul mercato, anche se si è fatto più difficile. Invece di partecipare a Shoes from Italy Tokyo, preferiamo incontrare i nostri clienti one-to-one, per lavorare in tranquillità e rispettare l’etichetta giapponese. A noi l’EPA cambierà ben poco: perché ci sia un vero cambiamento occorre una svolta, che ci sia una decisa ripresa dei consumi. Anche la moda non ci aiuta: se ci fosse un trend più definito sarebbe più facile vendere. Invece, quando va di moda tutto, è come se non ci fosse nulla di nuovo”.

Anche l’imprenditore Stefano Gamba, titolare dell’omonimo calzaturificio, non attende grandi cambiamenti dal mercato nipponico per il momento: “Posso affermare che l’EPA non farà una grande differenza per il Made in Italy nel breve periodo. Non ci sarà l’attesa inversione di tendenza. La distribuzione in Giappone sta vivendo un momento difficile e i prezzi del made in Italy non sono competitivi.

Basta vedere le vetrine dei negozi: è una rincorsa al prezzo più basso. Inevitabilmente il bello e ben fatto italiano ne risente. L’eliminazione dei dazi potrà dare una mano, ma la finestra temporale di dieci anni è troppo lunga per far sentire i suoi effetti fin da oggi”.

La caLzatura ItaLIana In GIappone: datI export Nel 2017 il Made in Italy ha esportato in Giappone 2,5 milioni di paia di calzature per un valore di 200,9 milioni di euro, segnando -8,6% nei quantitativi e -5,9% nei valori. In negativo si attesta anche l’avvio del 2018, con la performance dei primi cinque mesi al -3% in volume e -9,8% in valore.

Il trend ribassista perdura dalla crisi del 2013 e fino a tutto il 2017 ha comportato perdite nell’ordine del -27% nei quantitativi e del -9% in valore con, per contro, un apprezzamento deciso del valore medio al paio, aumentato del 24%: una conferma del primato delle griffe italiane nella distribuzione nipponica. Del totale volumi esportati, circa il 70% è costituito da scarpe con tomaio in pelle/cuoio.

ItaLIan footwear In Japan: export data In 2017, Made in Italy exported 2.5 million pairs of footwear to Japan for a value of 200.9 million euros, in a downtrend equal to -8.6% in quantity and -5.9% in value. The beginning of 2018 was also marked by a negative trend, with the performance of the first five months at -3% in volume and -9.8% in value. The persisting negative trend resulting from the 2013 crisis recorded important losses all the way up to 2017, with -27% in quantity and -9% in value, while to the contrary, the average price per pair increased by 24%: thus, the leading role played by Italian designer labels in Japanese distribution, was confirmed. Of the total volume exported, around 70% is made up by shoes with a leather upper.

of no help to us: if there was a clearer trend it would be easier to sell. Instead, when everything is fashionable, it’s as if nothing were new”.

Even entrepreneur Stefano Gamba, owner of the self-named footwear brand, does not expect great changes in the Japanese market for the moment: “I can confirm that the EPA will not make a big difference for Made in Italy in the short-term. It will not kick off the much-awaited trend reversal. Japanese distribution is going through a difficult moment and Made in Italy prices are not competitive. Just look at store windows: it’s a race to see who can offer the lowest price. It is unavoidable that Italian ‘beautiful and well-made’ products feel the effects. The elimination of tariffs could be helpful, but the window of ten years is too long for it to make any difference today”.

numeri ci dicono che erano presenti i più importanti player della calzatura per proporre le tendenze dell’autunno inverno, anche se il pronto-moda per l’estivo non ha mancato di giocare un ruolo importante. Più di 2.000 le collezioni protagoniste di un’edizione che – abbiamo già sottolineato - ha dato decisi segnali di ripresa, dopo che gli ultimi mesi dell’anno e le vendite di Natale hanno evidenziato segnali positivi.

La miglior testimonianza viene proprio dai visitatori che hanno affollato i padiglioni di Expo Center Norte durante i quattro giorni di fiera, con in evidenza un deciso aumento dei visitatori internazionali: “Anche in questa edizione abbiamo avuto una forte presenza non solo dei compratori brasiliani, ma anche di quelli stranieri che sono arrivati da tutto il mondo. È stata indubbiamente un’edizione importante – esordisce Francisco Santos, presidente e fondatore di Couromoda - che ha segnato un’inversione di tendenza, tanto da farci pensare che l’edizione 2020 vedrà un aumento significativo sia in termini di espositori che di superficie occupata.

Una presenza che spesso si è concretizzata in ordini e che è dovuta non soltanto al cambio Real/US$, ancora piuttosto favorevole,

ma anche e sopratutto alla bontà di una produzione – quella brasiliana - sempre più in linea con le tendenze fashion, adeguate correttamente al rapporto qualità/prezzo”.

Contemporaneamente a Couromoda, che ha visto anche la presenza importante di borse, valigeria e bijoux, si è svolta anche São Paulo Prêt à Porter, rassegna di moda dell’abbigliamento e dell’accessorio di moda, giunta ormai alla sua settima edizione, che ha proposto l’abbigliamento nelle sue varie sfaccettature.

Tornando a Couromoda è importante sottolineare la collaborazione con Abicalçados (l’associazione brasiliana di categoria).

Rosnei da Silva, presidente di Abicalçados: “L’industria calzaturiera inizia il 2019 con prospettive molto buone in termini di sviluppo, aumento di produzione e vendite, grazie anche al nuovo scenario politico ed economico iniziato con l’elezione di Jair Bolsonaro alla presidenza della repubblica. The 46 edition of Couromoda was held from 14 to 17 January in São Paulo’s Expo Center Norte trade fair complex, with results that were more than reassuring, giving clear signals of optimism in a market that is returning to a trend of growth. More than 31,000 accredited professional visitors turned out (+5% over 2018), with not only Brazilian retailers, but also numerous foreign buyers from various parts of the world, rediscovering their desire to place orders. th

he numbers in fact speak for themselves, with the most important players in the footwear industry present to propose the trends for fall/winter, even if summer ready-towear fashion also played an important role. More than 2,000 collections were the protagonists of an edition, which – as already mentioned above – gave clear signals of

recovery, after the last few months of 2018 and sales at Christmastime outlined a positive uptrend. Without a doubt, it was an important edition – commented Francisco Santos, President and founder of Couromoda - characterised by a trend reversal, leading us to believe that the 2020 edition will see a significant increase both in exhibitors and exhibition areas booked. Plus, the political turnaround in Brazil allows us to believe there will be a significant improvement for the economy, also in our sector that will soon return – I am convinced – to the same levels of what were its very best moments, also thanks to the focus of the Bolsonaro government on developing trade relations with the most mature markets like the USA and Europe.

United Arab Emirates, the USA, Europe, Asia, and America were more than numerous, making our event even more important. The result, more often than not, was concrete orders, and not just because the Real/US$ exchange rate is particularly favourable, but also and above all because of the quality of a production – that is to say Brazilian – which is increasingly in line with fashion trends, with a correct price/quality ratio”.

Taking place in conjunction with Couromoda, with its important array of bags, luggage, and costume jewellery, was São Paulo Prêt à Porter, the garment and fashion accessory fair, which is now in its seventh edition, proposing apparel in all of its many facets.

Getting back to Couromoda, it is important to underline the collaboration with Abicalçados (the Brazilian trade association of reference).

Rosnei da Silva, President of Abicalçados, comments: “The footwear manufacturing industry began 2019 with an extremely positive outlook in terms of development, including uptrends in production and sales, also thanks to the new political and economic scenario resulting from the election of Jair Bolsonaro as the new President of the Republic. A scenario that gives consumers, retailers, and manufacturers a renewed feeling of confidence when it comes to consumption, purchases, and production. All this obviously confirmed the importance and validity of this new scenario which, naturally, requires a certain amount of creativity capable of guaranteeing the exponential growth of Brazilian footwear, above all when it comes to exports”. With regards to Couromoda, Rosnei da Silva confirms: “This event was and will always be an extremely important point of reference for the entire footwear and leather goods supply chain. There is nothing left to do but say ‘thank you’ to this event, which for 46 years has brought with it the very essence and best of our production”.

Especially important at the fair was the participation of the Governor of the State of São Paulo, João Doria, who confirmed the positive phase the economy is going through and that “Couromoda represents a mandatory event for the development of the entire sector”. egli ultimi due anni la calzatura brasiliana ha molto faticato e non penso che nel primo semestre del 2019 riuscirà a riprendersi. Non ci sono le condizioni perché ciò avvenga, visto che in Brasile 60 milioni di persone (il 30% della popolazione del Paese) vivono ai margini del mercato del consumo e ai limiti della sopravvivenza”.

Così esordisce il Presidente Esecutivo di Abicalcados. Ma non bisogna farsi ingannare dalla premessa. Le aspettative, in realtà, sono ben diverse e molto più alte: “I punti fondamentali su cui il nuovo governo dovrà focalizzarsi sono il lavoro e la sicurezza. Se quanto si sta programmando dovesse marciare di buon grado, nel secondo semestre dell’anno la calzatura brasiliana tornerà a volare… e i prossimi anni risulteranno positivi”.

Tra i motivi a supporto di questa rinnovata fiducia - sottolinea Heitor Klein- la situazione finanziaria del Brasile, che lo rende diverso da altri Paesi dal difficile trascorso. In primis,

Noi chiederemo, di contro, misure che aumentino la competitività delle aziende brasiliane, fino a oggi schiacciate dall’alto costo produttivo dovuto all’alto livello di tassazione, al costo del lavoro, del credito e a una logistica inefficiente. Confidiamo che il nuovo corso possa risolvere buona parte di questi problemi”.

“Since the new government’s policy will be to open up the Brazilian economy even more and significantly reduce customs duties on imports – they clearly told us to prepare ourselves, because the tariff barriers could decrease from 35% to only 20-18%.

We ask, in exchange, that they implement measures that increase the competitiveness of Brazilian companies, which up until today, have been crushed by high production costs resulting from high tax rates, the costs of labour, loan rates, and inefficient logistics.

We trust that this new pathway could resolve a good part of these problems”.

l clima positivo di compratori ed espositori, soprattutto per quanto riguarda i mercati stranieri, respirato in questi giorni a Couromoda fa ben sperare riguardo la partenza dei molti nuovi progetti in cantiere da Abicalcados. Spiega Roberta Ramos: “I prossimi mercati esteri su cui punteremo le nostre azioni promozionali, coordinate con APEX, saranno Perù, Arabia Saudita e un’assoluta novità come la Sud Corea. Inizieremo, come sempre, con un’indagine conoscitiva che ci porterà a studiare le migliori soluzioni per promuovere la calzatura brasiliana in questi Paesi”.

Tra i mercati sempre nel mirino del mondo scarpa brasiliano non possono mancare gli Stati Uniti: “Abbiamo notato una crescita interessante delle fiere regionali e di nicchia, per cui supporteremo le aziende affinché possano accedere a questi eventi (Miami, Chicago e Atlanta, per esempio). ovviamente non abbandoneremo le manifestazioni nazionali come Platform e lavoreremo molto sul branding e sull’immagine dei marchi calzaturieri brasiliani, puntando anche su influencer americani, come abbiamo già fatto in passato durante il Coacella Festival”.

E in Europa? “Rimangono centrali le fiere di settore come MICAM Milano e Expo Riva Schuh. Nei prossimi mesi continueremo a lavorare sul mercato inglese per convincerne la distribuzione, molto conservativa, a provare nuovi marchi brasiliani e assecondare così i consumatori che

Costruiremo un negozio di calzatura brasiliana all’interno della piattaforma con cui collaboriamo da un paio d’anni. Stiamo selezionando 3/5 marchi con cui iniziare. È un investimento molto oneroso, ma siamo convinti che se funzionerà porterà enormi benefici alle calzature brasiliane”.

We will also try to penetrate France, our third market of reference where we work a lot with private labels, with Brazilian brands”.

Not to be forgotten of course is the orient: “We have been in China for 10 years and we worked hard to arrive at our important online presence today, which is also subsidised by the Chinese government that has accredited some foreign platforms, allowing them to now work in its territory. We will create a store of Brazilian footwear on the platform we have been collaborating with for the last couple of years.

We are selecting 3/5 brands to start with. It is a very costly investment, but we are convinced that if it works, it will bring enormous benefits to Brazilian footwear”.

by Apex and organised by Abicalçados: “At the fair, I browsed the footwear trends, raw materials, and designs that will be in the windows of our stores starting next season.

It is the first time I’ve ever come to São Paulo: Couromoda was a wonderful surprise. I will definitely return”. ouromoda 2019 si è rivelata la miglior edizione degli ultimi 4 anni.

Soprattutto nei primi 2 giorni di fiera si è assistito a un’ottima presenza di compratori qualificati.

“La buona notizia - sottolinea Jeferson Santos - è il rinnovato ottimismo di compratori e negozianti, che fa ben sperare in una crescita degli acquisti nel corso del 2019, che potrebbe aggirarsi attorno al 5%”.

Per il Direttore di Couromoda si è rivelato molto importante soprattutto l’ottimo andamento delle vendite natalizie del 2018, che ha svuotato i magazzini dei negozianti e ha permesso di lavorare bene in fiera anche con i riassortimenti estivi. Si è comportato bene anche l’online. Nello stesso periodo natalizio del 2018, infatti, ha registrato un +13% rispetto l’anno precedente.

“Penso che l’ottimismo diffuso che si respira porterà benefici anche alla prossima edizione di Couromoda. Se già oggi abbiamo praticamente confermati gli spazi del 2019, ci aspettiamo possano ulteriormente crescere grazie anche al ritorno di alcuni marchi importanti, come Skechers”.

Per supportare questo realistico ottimismo, nel secondo semestre del 2019 Couromoda investirà moltissimo nel rinnovo dell’immagine e per migliorare ulteriormente la comunicazione e il legame con compratori e negozianti, così da incentivare la loro presenza e partecipazione all’edizione 2020.

Presenti i principali poli produttivi di tutto il mondo, dalla Cina e India che in fiera hanno esposto le loro collezioni all’interno degli spazi dedicati del Fashion Top China e dell’India Hall, al Brasile, Turchia, Spagna, Portogallo… in totale 1.469 aziende, di cui 1.207 da 40 diverse nazioni hanno presentato le collezioni Autunno-Inverno 2019-20 ad un pubblico di 13.mila visitatori di 100 diverse nazionalità. Sono questi ad aver approvato il format della “fiera diffusa”, ovvero il network espositivo di Expo Riva Schuh, Gardabags e degli alberghi rivani con i brand che vogliono un contesto più adatto ad incontri one to one. The world of volume footwear once again met up in Riva del Garda, confirming the forecasts made on the eve of the event.

Present the most important international production hubs worldwide, from China and India, which exhibited with their collections at the fair in their own special areas of Fashion Top China and the India Hall, to Brazil, Turkey, Spain, and Portugal… a total of 1,469 exhibitors, including 1,207 foreign companies from 40 different nations, presented their Fall/Winter 2019-20 collections to a public of 13 thousand visitors from 100 different nations. This public expressed their approval for the “widespread fair” format, or rather, the exhibition network of Expo Riva Schuh, Gardabags, and the Riva hotels hosting brands looking for a more suitable context for one-to-one meetings. The unique format of Expo Riva Schuh was also well-liked by the 40 delegates coming from France, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary and Croatia, as the protagonists of the incoming services organised with the support of the ICE Italian Trade Agency and MISE - the Ministry of Economic Development.

The fair of Riva is flexible, streamlined, and ready to interpret the needs of the market, making them its very own: Expo Riva Schuh offers not only the season’s latest proposals, but also fast fashion and e-commerce solutions. However, all this is not enough. With the offer of Gardabags, the total accessory look is completed by bags that are presented in conjunction with the shoe offering. At PalaFiere, around sixty leather goods companies from various parts of Italy and the world exhibited with their collections of bags.

At the same time, Expo Riva Schuh goes beyond the fair itself and the fair’s opening talk, with the Director of Riva del Garda FiereCongressi, Giovanni Laezza, journalist Cinzia Malvini, and blogger Sabrina Musco, spoke of e-commerce and influencers, as well as the digital revolution, interpreting these issues from its own point of view. Not to be forgotten are the future trends of bags as told by “The Dream Bag” at Gardabags, which was presented by style coach Carla Gozzi.

This special guest attracted the attention of the event’s most bag-addicted fans.

Expo Riva Schuh also presented its territory through its tastes and fragrances, which were the protagonists of the Taste Lounge entrusted to chefs and sommeliers from the Trentino Association of Cooks. Lunches and dining were offered at the Buyer’s Lounge in Hall C4, while aperitifs and relaxation for visitors and the press could be found at Garda Taste in Hall A1: among local specialties and wine tastings, speaking of shoes was an unforgettable pleasure.

The formula of Expo Riva Schuh was once again rewarding: buyers and companies confirm the perfect timing of the event, appreciate the working environment (and the after-work experience), the services and the awareness of the organisers when it comes to intercepting market trends.

Always keeping pace with the times, Expo Riva Schuh was once again a resounding success.

La novità di questa edizione è il debutto dell’area PLUG-Mi al padiglione 7 negli ex spazi di MICAM Square. Un format nuovo dedicato alla sneaker che strizza l’occhio alla street culture e ai Millennials, organizzato in collaborazione con Fandango Plus e ispirato alle sneaker convention d’Oltreoceano in un mix tra presentazione del prodotto, giochi, esperienze ed eventi musicali.

Campioni di vendite negli ultimi anni – le stime prevedono che questo mercato raggiungerà un valore di 115,6 miliardi di dollari nel 2023 – le sneakers conquistano così un posto d’onore nella vetrina della calzatura d’alta gamma per eccellenza di MICAM. Una sorta di imprimatur che la manifestazione conferisce ad un segmento di calzature che ormai non è più relegato allo streetwear giovanilista, ma che si è ritagliato un ruolo elitario grazie a progetti promossi dall’alto di gamma e dalle griffe del lusso.

Brand new to this edition is the debut of the PLUG-Mi area in Hall 7 in the former MICAM Square area. Taking its cue from street culture and Millennials, this new format dedicated to sneakers is organised in collaboration with Fandango Plus and inspired by the overseas Sneaker Con in a mix between product presentation, games, experiences and musical events.

Bestsellers in recent years – with estimates pointing towards a market value of 115.6 billion dollars in 2023 – sneakers conquer a place of honour in the MICAM high-end footwear range par excellence. Almost 10 thousand professional operators for over 500 brands of footwear will participate.

Conto alla rovescia per la prossima edizione di Gallery Shoes, con le novità di collezione per l’Autunno Inverno 2019/20 presentate da oltre 500 marchi di calzature e accessori provenienti da 20 paesi nel mondo (il 65% dei quali internazionali). Ulrike Kähler, Project Director di Gallery & Gallery Shoes, si dice più che soddisfatta dei risultati raggiunti. Il Salone è ormai pienamente affermato sul mercato e rappresenta una data di riferimento nel calendario fieristico internazionale, ma è stato ed è anche un nuovo modo di presentare il prodotto calzaturiero agli operatori di settore: “Oggi vediamo che non solo le nostre scelte sono state accettate, ma che hanno anche dato un nuovo slancio al business calzaturiero e una ventata di freschezza nella scena della calzatura europea. Questa trasformazione d’immagine era necessaria e sta anche dimostrando ai retailer di calzature come può cambiare e rinnovarsi una manifestazione fieristica”.

The countdown for the next edition of Gallery Shoes is now underway, getting ready to present the new Fall/Winter 2019-20 collections of over 500 brands of footwear and accessories coming from 20 countries worldwide (65% of which are international).

Ulrike Kähler, Project Director of Gallery & Gallery Shoes, says he is more than satisfied by the results achieved. By now, the Show is well-established on the market and a firm fixture on the international trade fair calendar, but also was and continues to be a new way of presenting the footwear product to sector operators: “Today we are seeing that not only were our decisions accepted, but they have also given the shoe business a new lease of life and brought a breath of fresh air to the European shoe fair scene. This image transformation was necessary and is also showing shoe retailers what change and renewal at a tradeshow can look like.”

Diverse le novità che caratterizzeranno la prossima edizione, a cominciare dal processo di registrazione per i visitatori, che prevede una serie di nuovi aggiornamenti digitali. Tra questi, il nuovo software che permette di salvare i biglietti d’ingresso online nell’app Wallet ma anche i banconi di accoglienza all’ingresso che saranno sostituiti da nuove, moderne colonne di registrazione digitale, per facilitare gli ingressi.

Di recente creazione, il Fashion Lifestyle Corner con la sua passerella dedicata alle sfilate dal vivo è ormai parte integrante della fiera, fornendo una vetrina privilegiata per la presentazione delle calzature e un loro ottimale inserimento all’interno del look. Marc Cain sarà ancora una volta il principale partner della passerella. “Per noi, l’abbigliamento e la calzatura sono inseparabili. La passerella è come un microcosmo che rappresenta l’esperienza maturata all’interno dei format delle nostre fiere gemelle, che stanno conoscendo una crescita sempre maggiore anche grazie alla scelta ottimale delle date. Dai dati in nostro possesso risulta che il 45% degli acquirenti professionali che frequentano la fiera dell’abbigliamento ‘Gallery’ nella prima parte della stagione è interessato anche a vedere e ordinare scarpe, borse, pelletteria, gioielli e accessori” - riassume Ulrike Kähler.

Per quanto riguarda l’organizzazione merceologica della manifestazione e il percorso di visita, saranno presenti i tradizionali spazi Premium, Contemporary, Urban, Kids ‘e Comfort.

Newly created, the Fashion Lifestyle Corner with its own catwalk dedicated to live fashion shows is by now an integral part of the fair, representing a privileged showcase for the presentation of footwear and its inclusion in the total look. Marc Cain will once again be the main catwalk partner. “For us, fashion and shoes are inseparable. The catwalk is like a microcosmos representing the expertise of our sister tradeshow formats, which are increasingly growing also thanks to the convenient dates.

From the data we have available, 45% of the professional buyers attending the ‘Gallery’ apparel fair earlier in the season came specifically to view and order shoes, bags, leather goods, jewellery and accessories” - sums up Ulrike Kähler.

Non solo la scelta di una location accattivante e trendy, molto diversa dai tradizionali comprensori fieristici, ma anche la scelta di un format particolare stanno a testimoniare la volontà del nuovo evento di distinguersi nel panorama fieristico e di porsi in termini innovativi. ShoesRoom by Momad si presenta, infatti, con la peculiare organizzazione a showroom, che offre il vantaggio di valorizzare la presentazione dei nuovi prodotti e delle nuove collezioni, razionalizzando al contempo l’esperienza di visita e di acquisto dei buyer, ma al contempo di ridurre i costi di partecipazione per le aziende.

Tre i padiglioni, con Francia, Italia, Spagna e Germania come Paesi presenti nell’area espositiva maggiormente rappresentati in termini di numero di espositori. In tutto circa 1.500 marchi, che hanno visto una buona presenza degli accessori, soprattutto calzature e pelletteria che occupavano gran parte del padiglione 3, anche se non mancavano alcune presenze anche nel padiglione 4. La sensazione è che proprio gli accessori fossero in aumento rispetto a settembre 2018. Per la calzatura, di rilievo sicuramente gli stand di Liu-Jo, Manas, Caprice, Tamaris, Chie Mihara, CaféNoir, Colmar, M.Moustache, Meduse, Base London, Saucony in rappresentanza delle linee per uomo, donna, bambino. Per la pelletteria non possiamo non citare la presenza italiana, con Alchimia, Anita Bilardi, Borbonese, Ripani, Roberta Gandolfi, SG83 in evidenza. Buona l’affluenza, con visitatori provenienti - come sempre - da tutto il mondo per visionare le proposte per l’autunno-inverno 2019-2020. La prossima edizione di Who’s Next si svolgerà dal 6 al 9 settembre sempre a Porte de Versailles, mentre dal 1 al 4 marzo si svolgerà l’edizione primaverile di Première Classe al Jardin des Tuileries.

In all, there were about 1,500 brands, with a good presence of accessories, especially footwear and leather goods, which occupied most of hall 3 and some of hall 4. The next Who’s Next is scheduled for 6-9 September 2019 at Porte de Versailles, while the Spring edition of Première Classe will be held on 1 – 4 March 2019 at the Jardin des Tuileries.

In Milan, the first footwear manufacturing exhibition aimed at promoting the industrial cooperation between Europe and Asia will be held on 15-16-17 June, favouring international investments and new target markets for productions coming mainly from China.

Promoted by Plum Solution s.r.l., a company that favours international relations between Europe and China, and by the Chinese National Chamber of Commerce, representing Chinese companies par excellence, MISAF proposes itself as the new exhibition for footwear manufacturers, which are above all Asian in origin and interested in opening themselves up to the European market, among others.

The first edition of MISAF to be held in Milan on 15-16-17 June 2019, will host 100/150 exhibitors of men’s, women’s and children’s footwear that will enliven the event and meet up with the main players in fashion in Milan, the international capital of fashion, which will also be hosting the Men’s Fashion Week in that same period.

On show, companies coming for the most part from the provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Sichuan, which already work with and have contacts in the European and American markets (on average they export between 1 to 10 million dollars in goods every year to Europe). Not only will they propose themselves as valid partners for private labels, they will also showcase their very own collections, presenting fresh and successful brands. The wide range of proposals will span from the extremely high-end luxury range to the mid-to-low-end range, including exhibitors that produce for names such as Baolite, Lapps, Runxin and Goodyear, just to name a few.

Visitors will recognize brands like Sheme, the first Chinese footwear brand to ever show up in the Fashion Weeks of Paris, London, and New York, skilfully blending East with West in uniquely manufactured shoes that have been worn by several famous women, including Cherie Blair, Pace Wu, Chen Yao, Jody Watley, Shawn Colvin and Chen Luyu.

There will then be the Kangnai Group Co., with its 300 stores in China and its 100-plus stores abroad, representing one of the most important Chinese production realities, also thanks to partnerships with brands like Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, Rockport and many others. Finally, Clorts (with a name that combines “Climbing” and “Sports” into one word), will be focused on innovation applied to outdoor shoes.

La prima edizione di MISAF, che si svolgerà a Milano il 15-16-17 giugno 2019, ospiterà 100/150 espositori di calzature uomo, donna e bambino che animeranno l’evento e incontreranno i principali player della moda, in quei giorni a Milano, capitale internazionale del fashion, per la Settimana della Moda Maschile.

In mostra aziende provenienti principalmente dalle province di Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Sichuan, che già lavorano e hanno contatti con il mercato europeo e americano (esportano mediamente in Europa da 1 a 10 milioni di dollari ogni anno).

Non si proporranno solo come validi partner per il private label, ma esporranno anche loro collezioni, con marchi freschi e di successo. L’ampia gamma di proposte spazierà dall’altissimo di gamma fino al medio-basso e, tra gli espositori, aziende che producono per Baolite, Lapps, Runxin, Goodyear, solo per citarne alcuni.

Grande partecipazione e feedback molto positivi gli eventi speciali in calendario, sia quelli presentati da Pitti Immagine (la spettacolare sfilata di Y / Project nel Complesso di Santa Maria Novella, il debutto della applaudita collezione di Aldo Maria Camillo, l’happening tra arte e moda per i 30 anni di urban culture di Slam Jam al Museo Marino Marini, solo per citarne alcuni) sia quelli organizzati dalle aziende in Fortezza e in città.

This is joined by the new generation of talents from Northern Europe and the Far East, high-end streetstyle and top names in cutting-edge design. All this without forgetting the heart of the Pitti Uomo tradition, the excellence of new classic brands together with labels that embody the modernity of sportswear. Eco-sustainability is also a key word in the contemporary classic world, specifically in the outerwear segment, after having contaminated sportswear. Research, increasingly understood as technological experimentation, is applied to creative and alternative materials for style-conscious collections, often ethical and always surprising. The eco-soul is combined with a careful aesthetic that does not deviate from the style, but inserts futuristic details such as heat-welded seams, reflective fabrics and laser cuts.

In the days of Pitti Uomo 95, foreign countries confirmed the same levels as a year ago (which saw well over 9,000 international buyers), while the number of Italian buyers fell by about 8%. Following this trend, the total number of buyers was just under 24,000, with a total of about 36,000 visitors. There was a lot of interest and very positive feedback for the special events, both those presented by Pitti Immagine (the spectacular Y/Project fashion show in the Complex of Santa Maria Novella, the debut of the applauded collection by Aldo Maria Camillo, the happening between art and fashion for Slam Jam’s 30th anniversary of urban culture at the Marino Marini Museum, just to name a few) and those organised by the companies at the Fortezza and in the city.

The next edition will be held from June 11th to 14th 2019.

L’attesa flessione sui compratori italiani, la crescita di quelli stranieri: Pitti Bimbo 88 chiude a quota 6.400 buyer (di cui 2.450 esteri) con 10.000 presenze totali, più o meno lo stesso numero registrato all’edizione di gennaio 2018. Tra i mercati stranieri, la Spagna è al primo posto e in crescita (+7%), come Grecia (+20%), Francia, Regno Unito e Turchia. Sono invece in flessione Germania, Russia (-14% nel numero di punti vendita) e Ucraina (-9% di buyer) dove l’economia interna e lo scenario geopolitico degli ultimi mesi è peggiorato. Reggono Cina, Giappone e Stati Uniti, e si registrano aumenti di rilievo in mercati come Belgio (+20%), Polonia (+5%) e Arabia Saudita. L’Italia riconferma l’andamento negativo e cala attorno al 9%. Presenti in fiera anche le delegazioni estere invitate con l’appoggio del MISE e di ICE Agenzia, con focus sul mercato russo, su Asia (Hong Kong, Cina e Corea del Sud), Stati Uniti e Europa (Francia, Germania, Spagna, Belgio, Regno Unito e Scandinavia), con una particolare attenzione agli shop online.

The forecasted downtrend in Italian buyers and rise in foreign buyers was confirmed: Pitti Bimbo 88 ended with a total of 6,400 buyers (of which 2,450 were foreign), and the total number of visitors reached the 10,000 mark, for results that were more or less in line with the January 2018 edition. Among the foreign markets, Spain was in first place and on the rise (+7%), as was Greece (+20%), France, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Instead, there was a drop for Germany, Russia (-14% in the number of stores) and Ukraine (-9% buyers), where the situation of the domestic economy and the geopolitical scenario have worsened in recent months. All holding steady were China, Japan and the United States, while there were satisfying increases for other important markets like Belgium (+20%), Poland (+5%) and Saudi Arabia. Italy, instead, reconfirmed its negative trend, dropping by around 9%. At the fair were also foreign delegations invited with the support of MISE and the ICE Agency, with a focus on the Russian market, on Asia (Hong Kong, China and South Korea), the United States, and Europe (France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Scandinavia), as well as a special focus on online shops.

“The results for these three days went beyond our expectations – comments the CEO of Pitti Immagine, Raffaello Napoleone – with comments gathered among the stands that refer to the great work carried out by the exhibiting companies: in the editing of the collections, the research into styles that are modern and functional in terms of the new ecological and social sensitivities, the commitment to maintaining both quality and price, and the ability to move around an international market that is interminably changing and transforming itself. Accanto agli spazi “storici” di Pitti Bimbo e Sport Generation, le collezioni Ecoethic, Apartment ha puntato sui brand di ricerca, #Activelab ha raccontato gli stili atletico-metropoltan, KidzFIZZ ha messo in mostra i nuovi marchi e Fancy Room ha raccontato il lifestyle e il design formato mini raddoppiando gli espositori e gli spazi. I buyer hanno approvato le collezioni AI19-20 che hanno raccontato fiabe nordiche con inflessioni black&white, uno stile folk mountain in alternativa al mood college inglese per proposte più eleganti. Le collezioni “rosa” hanno ribadito il coté glam rock, mentre l’athleisure ha preso in prestito suggestioni dal mondo adulto per affascinanti proposte “mini me”. Infine, le luxury collection tra eleganza e fasto hanno mostrato il lato più prezioso.

Feedback positivi da parte dei buyer e dei visitatori sono andati al fitto calendario di eventi, la passerella sofisticata di Apartment e quella creativa di KidzFIZZ, le sfilate in Fortezza dei brand Stefania e Miss DM e del collettivo Children’s Fashion from Spain, quelle “off Fortezza” di Monnalisa presso il palazzo della Borsa Valori e de Il Gufo in Stazione Leopolda. Così come il programma di laboratori di KidsLab che ha portato i bambini in importanti musei cittadini. Di successo anche la mostra anniversario per i 60 anni di Barbie di Barbie, che ha scelto Pitti Bimbo per festeggiare e presentare la capsule collection celebrativa realizzata in collaborazione con Patrizia Pepe.

La prossima edizione di Pitti Bimbo si terrà dal 20 al 22 giugno.

This is how Pitti Bimbo underlined the worldwide leadership of the show in the world of fashion and its increasing influence in the lifestyle of children. The segmentation of the offering is always more precise. Next to the “historic” areas of Pitti Bimbo and Sport Generation, and the Ecoethic collections, Apartment focused on research brands, #Activelab presented athletic-metropolitan styles, KidzFIZZ showcased its new brands and Fancy Room depicted lifestyles and the mini-design format, doubling the number of exhibitors and its spaces.

Buyers expressed their approval for the FW 19-20 collections, which told Nordic fairy tales with black&white highlights, while a folk mountain style was proposed in alternative to the English college mood for more elegant proposals. The “pink” collections highlighted coté glam rock, while athleisure borrowed suggestions from the adult world for striking “mini-me” proposals. Finally, the luxury collections between elegance and splendour showed their most precious side.

Positive comments were made by buyers and visitors on the full calendar of events, which included the sophisticated Apartment catwalk and the creative KidzFIZZ catwalk, the fashion shows at the Fortezza of the brands Stefania and Miss DM, and the Children’s Fashion from Spain collective. There was then the “off Fortezza” fashion shows of Monnalisa at the Palazzo della Borsa Valori and of Il Gufo at the Stazione Leopolda. The program of KidsLab instead brought children to important museums located around the city. Other successes included the anniversary exhibition for the 60 years of Barbie, which chose Pitti Bimbo to celebrate and present the commemorative capsule collection realised in collaboration with Patrizia Pepe.

The next edition of Pitti Bimbo will be held from 20 to 22 June.

cOn DryTan lE ScarpE Di EccO SEmprE più vErDi La società danese di calzature e accessori ha presentato tramite la sua divisione Leather la rivoluzionaria tecnologia DryTan che riduce drasticamente l’utilizzo di acqua nel processo conciario.

Il principio su quale si basa è sempice e utilizza l’umidità contenuta nelle pelli per ottenere prodotti del tutto simili a quelli conciati con il processo tradizionale sotto il profilo della qualità, caratteristiche, stabilità e tempi di consegna. In più, con un drastico risparmio d’acqua e di scarico di acque reflue: 600 tonnellate di fanghi conciari in meno all’anno, l’equivalente di 40 camion a pieno carico.

“Nel processo è coinvolto solo ciò che abbiamo già a portata di mano”, afferma Thomas Gøgsig, responsabile della ricerca applicata di Ecco.

“Non è necessario investire in nuove attrezzature, né cercare nuove sostanze chimiche particolari. È sufficiente utilizzare ciò che è già disponibile in conceria, solo in un modo diverso”.

La tecnologia DryTan permetterà ad Ecco di proporre prodotti sempre più green: Ecco Leather concia 1,25 milioni di pelli l’anno per fornire gli articoli di calzature e pelletteria di marchio che raggiungono gli oltre 2.230 negozi monomarca in 90 diverse nazioni e gli oltre 14.000 multibrand.

In Italia, Ecco ha inaugurato nel 2018 quattro punti vendita – a Milano, Treviso, Faenza e Torino – dopo i sei wholesale aperti nel 2017. Ha chiuso il 2017 con un utile di 184 milioni di euro su un fatturato di 1,276 miliardi di euro.

The Danish company of footwear and accessories presented through its Leather division the revolutionary DryTan technology, which drastically reduces the use of water during the tanning process.

The philosophy on which it bases itself is simple, using the moisture found in leathers to obtain products similar to those tanned using traditional processes, while also maintaining the very same quality, features, stability, and lead times. Moreover, there is a significant savings in water and in the discharge of wastewater: in fact, there is a savings equal to 600 fewer tons in tanning sewage produced each year, which is the equivalent of 40 full truckloads.

“The process involves only what we currently have on hand”, confirms Thomas Gøgsig, Head of Applied Research at Ecco. “There’s no need to invest in new equipment or look for new special chemical substances.

It’s enough to use what is already available in the tannery, just in a different way”.

DryTan technology will allow Ecco to propose products that are always green and eco-friendly: Ecco Leather tans 1.25 million hides each year for footwear and leather goods brands that reach more than 2,230 flagship stores in 90 different nations and more than 14,000 multibrand stores.

In Italy, in 2018, Ecco inaugurated four stores – in Milan, Treviso, Faenza and Turin – after opening six wholesale stores in 2017. It ended 2017 with a profit of 184 million euros out of a 1.27-billion euro turnover.

Come? Mettendo insieme le qualità della lana merino – naturalezza, traspirabilità, versatilità, morbidezza, elasticità, termoregolazione, facilità di cura – con quelle di due materiali tecnici provenienti dal mondo aerospaziale. Così, la tomaia in lana merino si combina con una soletta ricoperta di lana e di un materiale viscoso ed elastico proveniente dal mondo aerospaziale, e si aggiunge alla suola in gomma Eva ultraleggera che contiene su 500 grammi il peso della scarpa. La sneaker è il primo progetto della start up Yuool.it lanciata da Stefano Aglietta, già titolare della Italfil, storica filatura biellese, e frutto della collaborazione con Yuool, calzaturificio brasiliano spaciliazzato nella produzione di scarpe in lana merino.

micam: lE pErcEnTuali DEll’inDaginE Sugli ESpOSiTOri Dopo aver profilato i visitatori, l’evento dedicato alla calzatura d’alta gamma analizza ora la selezione delle aziende espositrici, focalizzando la sua attenzione sulle ultime sei edizioni. Il 37% degli espositori complessivi ha partecipato a tutte le ultime sei edizioni, inoltre, il 67% delle aziende italiane che hanno esposto a Micam 86 rappresenta il cluster dei fedelissimi, avendo partecipato a tutte le edizioni precedenti.

Le new entries a Micam 86 rappresentano invece l’11%.

La provenienza degli espositori è decisamente europea (91%): tra i paesi l’Italia predomina con il 61% seguita da Spagna e Portogallo. Quanto alle regioni, le Marche si attestano al 25,5%, seguite da Campania al 21,6% e da Toscana con il 16,2%. Infine, tra gli espositori predominano i produttori (70%) contro il il 10% di commercianti e distributori.

How is it possible? By putting together the qualities of merino wool – naturalness, breathability, versatility, softness, elasticity, thermoregulation, easy care – with those of two technical materials coming from the world of aerospace. Thus, the upper in merino wool is matched with an insole covered in wool and a viscous and elastic material of aerospace origins, with an EVA rubber ultralight sole that capably holds the weight of the shoe on 500 grams. The sneaker is the first project of the Yuool.it start-up launched by Stefano Aglietta, owner of Italfil, the historic Biella yarn producer, and fruit of the collaboration with Yuool, the Brazilian footwear manufacturer specialised in the production of merino wool shoes.

the statistics of the MicaM survey DeDicateD to exhibitors After having done a profile on visitors, the event dedicated to highend footwear now analyses the selection of exhibiting companies, by focusing its attention on the last six editions. 37% of all exhibitors participated in all six of the last editions, while 67% of the Italian exhibitors at Micam 86 represent the cluster of the “extremely loyal”, having participated in all the previous editions. The Micam 86 new entries instead represent 11%.

The origin of exhibitors is decidedly European (91%): among these countries, Italy is in the lead with 61%, followed by Spain and Portugal.

As far as regions are concerned, Marches accounts for 25.5% of the presences, followed by Campania at 21.6%, and Tuscany at 16.2%.

Finally, among the exhibitors, producers take the lead (70%) when compared to the 10% of retailers and distributors.

Il brand dei braccialetti ispirati al design del metro sartoriale ha lanciato a Pitti Uomo la nuova collezione di sneaker Il Centimetro.

A pure Made in Italy project embracing the unmistakable and distinguishing style of both bracelets and accessories proposed by the brand. Italian craftsmanship, fine leathers, an innovative design with side decoration representing the iconic sartorial measuring tape, and an ultralight Wearlight outsole are some of the features of this new proposal. Moreover, handmade customisation is realised by means of a spray gun for unique artisanal details.

optiMa Molliter presents the yDa sneaker Optima Molliter, the brand of orthopaedic footwear run by the Salvatelli family, with experience in the production of classic men’s and women’s comfort footwear, debuts in fashion with its YDA branded line of sneakers.

Two models – YDA Urban and YDA Summer, six different colours: style and technology are the duo of the project that harbours great ambitions. The shoes will be distributed in the same circuit of 35 international markets covered by Optima Molliter, which includes Europe, USA, North Africa, the Middle East, but also Japan and Argentina, among others. There will then be a special focus on the Western market, Russia, UEA and Saudi Arabia.

Optima Molliter ended 2017 with its sales revenue up by 54% over 2016 and every year it destines 20% of its profits to research and development. It is specifically this division of the company, which has patented various biomechanics technologies used in the orthopaedic and comfort footwear of its mother company, that conceived the project that won the Marches-based company the “CES 2019 Innovation Award” in the category of “Wearable Technologies”.

D.a.t.e.: introDuces fuga custoMiseD by sotf The chunky sneaker FUGA by D.A.T.E. is proposed in pink, grey and black, the iconic colours of the Store Of The Future, the Florentine concept store, where a special capsule collection protagonist at Pitti Uomo takes shape: FUGA for SOTF. The new collaboration reinvents FUGA, proposing it with a semitransparent technical ripstop, a special material revealing the underlying lightweight cotton wool padding, which was specifically designed by Limonta, the textile company specialised in unique textiles.

The upper features inserts in film and nubuck proposed in the shades of SOTF, while the writing 01 indicates the first collaboration. The outsole with its sturdy look is ultralight thanks to a special rubber blend.
