N

o, non proseguite il titolo con un “oh, oh”. Non mi voglio riferire alla ben nota canzone, bensì alla passione di cui si racconta in una delle interviste di questo numero. Il brand Aeronautica Militare nasce, infatti, dalla passione per il volo del suo fondatore, le cui orme fra le nuvole sono state seguite dai figli. È proprio quella passione - la stessa delle donne che attraverso la moda rivendicavano il loro ruolo (il Power dressing anni ’80); quella di chi affronta fatiche al limite dell’immaginabile per partecipare a due Giochi Olimpici (vedi l’intervista ad Alessandro Fabian); quella di chi oggi esplora con tenacia e meraviglia le frontiere della sostenibilità (Margiela e non solo) o dell’innovazione (Intelligenza Artificiale per una relazione più stretta con i clienti o per rinnovare i processi produttivi) di cui vi raccontiamo. È tutta passione quella che muove i fili di così tante anime/iniziative.

Ed è la passione che viene messa in crisi dalla folle situazione in cui versa il commercio internazionale (e non solo di quello). I numeri del 2024 raccontano che siamo ben lontani dal ‘volare’ del titolo, che il momento ricorda il precipitare piuttosto che il decollare.

Gustiamoci allora lo spirito di chi sa stare lassù e cavalcare le correnti, sia quelle calde e ascensionali, così come quelle fredde che fanno perdere quota. Stiamo con le nostre passioni.

No, don’t continue the title with an ‘oh, oh’. I am not referring to the well-known song, but rather to the passion told about in one of the interviews in this issue. The Aeronautica Militare brand was, in fact, born from the passion for flying of its founder, whose footsteps in the clouds were followed by his sons. It is precisely that passion - the same passion of women who, through fashion, claimed their role (power dressing in the 1980s); that of those who face hardships at the limits of the imaginable in order to take part in two Olympic Games (see the interview with Alessandro Fabian); that of those who today with tenacity and wonder, explore the frontiers of sustainability (Margiela and others) or innovation (Artificial Intelligence for a closer relationship with customers or to renew production processes) which we tell you about. It is all passion that moves the threads of so many souls/initiatives. And it is passion that is being undermined by the crazy state of international trade (and not only that). The 2024 numbers tell that we are far from the ‘flying’ of the title, tell that the moment is reminiscent of plummeting rather than taking off.

So let us enjoy the spirit of those who know how to stay up there and ride the currents, both the warm and ascending ones, as well as the cold ones that make us lose altitude. Let us stay with our passions.

Com’è cambiato e cosa rappresenta oggi un modo di vestire chiave degli anni 80, simbolo di emancipazione femminile.

l potere in una giacca. Sì, ma che sia strutturata, con proporzioni importanti e un’anima autenticamente sartoriale - cosa che, di questi tempi molto fast, non è così scontata. Una giacca, ma non solo. Da abbinare a silhouette forti ma fluide, di cui addolcire il rigore intimo con qualche dettaglio vezzoso… et voilà, les jeux sont faits, anzi, il power dressing è servito. Non un semplice revival ma un segno dei tempi.

Perché il completo maschile per antonomasia, reinterpretato negli anni 80 come simbolo di empowerment femminile (Melanie Griffith in “Una donna in carriera” docet), torna prepotentemente alla ribalta nella Primavera Estate 2025 rinnovandosi all’insegna delle consuete linee over, ma con una morbidezza di fondo, come si evince dalle passerelle di Saint Laurent e Jil Sander. La sua essenza resta la stessa - un messaggio di autorevolezza e affermazione personale, ma la sua estetica - nata da un vizio di forma di un certo Monsieur Yves e perfezionata da un altro gigante come Giorgio Armani - si è evoluta nel tempo fino ad assumere oggi una versione più rilassata e sofisticata dell’originale, con uno stile, va da sé, immutato. Un caso? Niente affatto. Il ritorno del power dressing non è una semplice questione di tendenza ma riflette quei cambiamenti sociali, culturali ed economici del mondo contemporaneo a cui la >

moda non può restare indifferente, tale da renderlo, più che un concetto, un modo per riappropriarsi del controllo, comunicando stabilità e autorevolezza in un’epoca sempre più dominata dall’incertezza.

Strano destino per un modo di abbigliarsi che, pare, fosse nato da uno spunto sarcastico. Nel 1962, infatti, Yves Saint Laurent, reduce dalla guerra d’Algeria e al timone della sua neonata maison, rielaborò i capi militari come il caban e le uniformi per dare vita a un’estetica androgina. Poi passò ad addolcire anche l’abbigliamento maschile per antonomasia, regalando alle donne i suoi splendidi due pezzi, lo smoking e il trench su tutti. Un’operazione profondamente rivoluzionaria per una società decisamente maschilista in cui la donna, per arrivare alle posizioni dell’uomo, lo doveva emulare anche facendo ricorso al modo di vestire. Un percorso accidentato che, giocoforza, arrivò fino al 10 di Downing Street con Margaret Thatcher, prima donna Primo Ministro britannico che, per essere all’altezza di un mondo testosteronico, inaugurò la stagione del power suit, con tutto il suo corollario di tagli larghi, di giacche doppiopetto, di spalline imbottite e di volumi over. Era chiaro che la lotta per la parità di genere si combatteva con le stesse armi, firmate via via dagli stilisti più titolati, Giorgio Armani e Donna Karan in testa, e rese meno battagliere grazie a una mano più destrutturata e leggera che progressivamente prendeva potere. Questo fino ad oggi, quando il riaffacciarsi dell’idea di power dressing ha coinciso sì con una nuova esigenza di parità di genere ma, al contempo, ha acquistato un significato più fluido e inclusivo rispetto al passato, adattandosi alle esigenze di un contemporaneo che cerca di bilanciare desiderio di autodeterminazione e identità, con forme più morbide ma ugualmente forti ed eleganti.

Si è quindi appannato il coefficiente rivoluzionario tipico del due pezzi man oriented? Per nulla, si è solo trasformato perché non si tratta di adattarsi a un mondo di uomini ma di affermarsi utilizzando i suoi stessi strumenti. Così, se negli anni 80 il tailleur rappresentava un’armatura, oggi è un’affermazione di identità e sicurezza.

Indossato con maggiore consapevolezza e libertà espressiva, forte di una tale versatilità che gli permette di sperimentare derive casual chic senza colpo ferire e di modificarsi con il rischio di apparire blasfemo. Nuove forme per una nuova vita, verrebbe da dire, guardando i completi sartoriali oversize sulle passerelle di Saint Laurent e Bottega Veneta; ammirando i cappotti che strizzano l’occhio alle uniformi di Prada; applaudendo il glamour audace che Versace e Balenciaga hanno regalato alle loro silhouette scolpite. Un tripudio di fluidità e drappeggi capace di creare equilibrio tra potenza e femminilità, ravvisabile anche nei colori che scelgono tonalità pastello, così come nelle texture souples (seta e lino su tutte), che ammorbidiscono il rigore. Il futuro è una scommessa per il power dressing che si apre a sperimentare interpretazioni genderless,

portavoce di una moda sempre più inclusiva che celebra il passato ma guarda al futuro con rinnovato entusiasmo. Non è un caso che l’hasthag #powerdressing sia diventato virale, riflettendo l’esigenza di empowerment e di affermazione personale laddove sembra che non ce ne sia mai abbastanza, sbandierando il suo essere non solo un modo di vestire, ma un linguaggio visivo in grado di comunicare autostima, indipendenza e forza. Non più una corazza per adeguarsi alle regole maschili, ma una scelta consapevole che valorizza la personalità e la sicurezza di chi lo indossa, il power dressing così come si appresta a conquistare il 2025, è un manifesto di consapevolezza e di stile. Di cui, sicuramente, Yves Saint Laurent non avrebbe nulla da ridire.

How it has changed and what it represents today, a key fashion of the 1980s, a symbol of female emancipation.

Power in a jacket. Yes, but one that is structured, with important proportions and an authentically tailored soul - which, in these very fast times, is not so obvious. A jacket, but not only. To be matched with strong but fluid silhouettes, whose intimate rigour can be softened with a few charming details... et voilà, les jeux sont faits, or rather, power dressing is served. Not a simple revival but a sign of the times. Because the men's suit par excellence, reinterpreted in the 1980s as a symbol of female empowerment (Melanie Griffith in ‘A woman in career’ docet), is coming back into the limelight in Spring Summer 2025, renewing itself under the banner of the usual oversized lines, but with an underlying softness, as can be seen on the Saint Laurent and Jil Sander catwalks. Its essence remains the same - a message of authority and personal affirmation, but its aesthetic - born from a flaw in the form of a certain Monsieur Yves and perfected by another giant such as Giorgio Armani - has evolved over time to assume today a more relaxed and sophisticated version of the original, with a style that is, it goes without saying, unchanged. A coincidence? Not at all. The return of power dressing is not simply a matter of trend but reflects those social, cultural and economic changes in the contemporary world to which fashion cannot remain indifferent, so much so that it has become, more than a concept, a way of regaining control, communicating stability and authority in an era increasingly dominated by uncertainty.

Strange fate for a way of dressing that, it seems, was born from a sarcastic cue. In 1962, in fact, Yves Saint Laurent, a veteran of the Algerian war and at the helm of his fledgling fashion house, reworked military garments such as the caban and uniforms to create an androgynous aesthetic. He then went on to soften even the quintessential menswear, giving women his splendid two-piece suits, the dinner jacket and the trench coat above all. A profoundly revolutionary operation for a decidedly male chauvinist society in which women, in order to reach men's positions, had to emulate him even by resorting to the way they dressed. It was a bumpy road that, inevitably, went all the way to 10 Downing Street with Margaret Thatcher, the first woman British Prime Minister who, in order to live up to a testosteronic world, inaugurated the season of the power suit, with all its corollary of wide cuts, double-breasted jackets, padded shoulders and oversized volumes. It was clear that the fight for gender equality was being fought with the same weapons, gradually signed by the most titled stylists, Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan in the lead, and made less battling thanks to a more unstructured and lighter hand that progressively took power.

That is, until today, when the resurgence of the idea of power dressing has coincided with a new need for gender equality but, at the same time, has acquired a more fluid and inclusive meaning than in the past, adapting to the needs of a contemporary that seeks to balance the desire for self-determination and identity, with softer but equally strong and elegant forms.

So has the revolutionary coefficient typical of the man-oriented two-piece tarnished? Not at all, it has only transformed because it is not a matter of adapting to a man's world but of asserting itself

using its own tools. Thus, if in the 1980s the suit represented an armour, today it is an affirmation of identity and security. Worn with greater awareness and expressive freedom, strong with such versatility that allows it to experiment with casual chic drifts without a blow and to modify itself with the risk of appearing blasphemous.

New shapes for a new life, one might say, looking at the oversized tailored suits on the Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta catwalks; admiring the coats that wink at Prada's uniforms; applauding the daring glamour that Versace and Balenciaga have given to their sculptured silhouettes. A jubilation of fluidity and draping capable of creating a balance between power and femininity, discernible also in the colours that choose pastel shades, as well as in the souples textures (silk and linen above all), which soften the rigour. The future is a gamble for power dressing, which is open to experimenting with genderless interpretations, spokesman for an increasingly inclusive fashion that celebrates the past but looks to the future with renewed enthusiasm.

It is no coincidence that the hasthag #powerdressing has gone viral, reflecting the need for empowerment and personal affirmation where it seems there is never enough of it, flaunting its being not just a way of dressing, but a visual language capable of communicating self-esteem, independence and strength. No longer an armour to conform to masculine rules, but a conscious choice that enhances the personality and confidence of the wearer, power dressing as it prepares to conquer 2025 is a manifesto of awareness and style. Which, surely, Yves Saint Laurent would have nothing to say about.

ipartiamo dalla competenza, riposizionando la manifattura d’eccellenza al centro per rispondere al clima mesto che sta adombrando il manifatturiero. Scelte sbagliate, guerre combattute e guerre commerciali, unite ad una crisi d’identità mai vista prima, stanno annegando il nostro settore in una stagione di stallo profondo. Dopo gli anni fulgenti della moda ‘80/’90, questi primi venti del 2000 ci stanno riservando un amaro boccone. L’era dei grandi maestri, che per generazioni ci hanno fatto sognare - da Valentino a Karl Lagerfeld - è passata da tempo e nulla di più incerto si staglia all’orizzonte. In molti casi, il coraggio ha lasciato il passo alla certezza del mediocre e l’insicurezza regna sovrana tra le sartorie quanto tra i board dei gruppi che hanno imbrigliato il settore con i loro azzardi borsistici. Orfani dei grandi couturier, lo stile oggi lo dettano irriverenti mercenari ossessionati dalla stranezza, una categoria di designer improvvisati che si ammanta di convinzione ed intanto sbircia negli archivi per trovare un po’ di contenuti.

La calzatura di lusso, non compresa e non adeguatamente pensata, è sempre più banalizzata, stretta tra scelte che la relegano a mero accessorio di contorno a discapito della qualità e dell’autentico savoire faire.

In un’epoca come questa, dove il margine ed il profitto sono le uniche logiche con le quali un prodotto viene immesso sul mercato, le calzature artigianali d’un tempo sono messe in pericolo da scelte che privilegiano l’estetica ed il cartellino a danno della qualità. Cari amici, è l’ora del risveglio! E’ indispensabile tornare a distinguere ciò che è puro marketing da ciò che è meritevole di essere acquistato e valorizzato.

Abbiamo fiaccato il mercato con montagne di ciarpame costosissimo e noi addetti di settore siamo stanchi di veder bistrattato il nostro amato prodotto. Troppa plastica e troppe facilonerie commerciali hanno completamente imbarbarito il Made in Italy. Provate ad osservare ciò che viene mostrato nei grandi department store, sono un ottimo indicatore commerciale per comprendere come si muovono strategicamente i grandi gruppi. Le pelli pregiate e sofisticate di un tempo sono sempre più un vago ricordo, le calzature suolate in cuoio sono divenute una rarità eppure siamo portati a pensare che quel ci viene offerto in questi luoghi sia il massimo dell’eccellenza e del lusso, ma non è sempre cosi. Sfogliando il dizionario, provate a cercare qualche sinonimo e vedrete che alla voce lusso, compariranno le seguenti parole: sfarzo, fasto, sontuosità, magnificenza, splendore, ricchezza, abbondanza etc.

Fatta la premessa, dovreste aspettarvi di trovare negli scaffali di

qualsiasi grande magazzino mirabili capolavori, accessori capaci di stupire per il loro ardimento costruttivo, ed invece, ad oggi, si trovano solo infinite quantità di sneakers che si citano l’un l’altra e ciabatte di gomma di ogni sorta con loghi in puro stile horror vacui.

Dov’è finito il prodotto di pregio? Che futuro si prospetta per la scarpa fresata a mano d’un tempo?

I negozi vuoti, la troppa offerta, l’invenduto a causa dello scarso contenuto sono un messaggio che ancora non è stato ben compreso dalle direzioni delle grandi maison ed a nulla serviranno i giri di poltrona creativi se il prodotto non verrà rimesso al centro, prima del cartellino. Kering docet. Cucinelli, Loro Piana, Hermes, Loewe, LV, Prada e pochi altri, in questo frangente paiono essere gli unici esempi d’una rinascita che potrà determinarsi in tutti gli altri marchi solo attraverso la riscoperta di un prodotto autentico e di autentico contenuto manifatturiero. In questo momento di profonda stagnazione, esiste un cliente d’alta gamma che ha saputo far differenze ed ha saputo premiare quei marchi che si sono distinti per la loro ricercatezza, schivando quelle collezioni scevre d’identità per colpa della scure di un merchandising da manuale. Torniamo tutti a preferire l’unicità, il sapore del cuoio ed il fatto a mano, finché siamo in tempo.

La logica dei grandi player ha appiattito negli ultimi anni l’offerta verso un’uniformità e una banalizzazione di prodotto, impattando sulla specializzazione dei nostri operai e delle nostre filiere. Sono sempre più introvabili i cucitori a mano, i fresatori, gli operai specializzati nei finissaggi e nelle lavorazioni artigianali. Quando è stata l’ultima volta che avete preso in mano una scarpa totalmente fatta e cucita a mano al 100%? Disgraziatamente, la maggior parte della popolazione mondiale si può dire che non ne abbia mai vista una.

E’ in questi valori che va ritrovato il lusso, in questo si gioca la nostra rinascita. Nuovo merito alle mani!

Rimettere al centro il prodotto potrebbe farci scoprire quei nuovi e necessari talenti che ad oggi stanno soffrendo all’ombra di pochi designer pigliatutto. Se la moda è sogno, l’equazione commerciale non potrà mai vincere sul talento e sulla fantasia, i mancati incassi lo stanno dicendo a chiari numeri.

In questa attesa collettiva, cui speriamo di poter dar seguito, non ci resterebbe che affrontare l’ultimo nemico dell’autenticità per ritrovare il bandolo: parliamo della componente temporale con cui oggi tutto si consuma troppo velocemente. Il vero artigianato ha necessità di pensiero e di lentezza. Sono certo che Il futuro ci riserverà speranza ma dobbiamo recuperare i giusti tempi per il gesto creativo e per il mestiere. Documentatevi sempre ed imparate a guar>

dare oltre la tomaia. Comprendere come è saldata una suola, per esempio, è il primo gesto importante da fare se vogliamo imparare a distinguere e comprare bene. Non tutti sanno che per costruire una scarpa esistono decine di metodologie, ciascuna per la propria occasione d’uso e per un risultato differente. Diffidate dalle scarpe semplicemente incollate e preferite ciò che si presenta cucito.

Sotto ad un plantare, guardiamo sempre se è presente una cucitura perché corrispondente ad autenticità costruttiva. Osservare i dettagli interni di una scarpa, come la fodera ad esempio, potrà sembrare una cosa secondaria perché spesso messa in secondo piano da tutte le maison di moda, ma che in realtà ci permette di distinguere facilmente che tipo di prodotto ci troviamo tra le mani.

Per quanto possa sembrare strano, la fodera è l’elemento più importante perché a contatto con il nostro piede e la sua scelta, la sua concia e le sue qualità influenzeranno non solo la resistenza meccanica ma la traspirazione e salubrità della nostra scarpa.

Quando entrate in un negozio non fermatevi all’apparenza, non preferite gli oggetti solo per il marchio che rappresentano ma iniziate ad indagare ciò che è nascosto all’evidenza.

Il valore, quello reale, risiede nelle mani e nel profumo del cuoio.

- is long gone and nothing more uncertain is on the horizon. In many cases, courage has given way to the certainty of the mediocre, and insecurity reigns supreme among tailors as much as among the boards of the groups that have harnessed the sector with their stock market gambles. Orphans of the great couturiers, style today is dictated by irreverent mercenaries obsessed with strangeness, a category of improvised designers who cloak themselves in conviction and meanwhile peek into the archives to find some content. Luxury footwear, misunderstood and inadequately thought out, is increasingly trivialised, squeezed between choices that relegate it to a mere accessory to the detriment of quality and authentic savoire faire.

In an era such as this, where margin and profit are the only logics with which a product is placed on the market, the handcrafted shoes of yesteryear are endangered by choices that privilege aesthetics and price tags to the detriment of quality.

Dear friends, it is time for a wake-up call! It is essential to go back to distinguishing what is pure marketing from what is worthy of purchase and appreciation. We have exhausted the market with mountains of expensive junk, and we industry insiders are tired of seeing our beloved product mistreated. Too much plastic and too much commercial facilitation have completely barbarised Made in Italy. Try to observe what is shown in the large department stores, they are an excellent commercial indicator to understand how the large groups move strategically. The fine and sophisticated leathers of yesteryear are increasingly a vague memory, leather soled shoes have become a rarity and yet we are led to think that what is offered in these places is the height of excellence and luxury, but this is not always the case. If you flip through the dictionary, try looking up some synonyms and you will see that under luxury, the following words will appear: sumptuousness, pomp, magnificence, splen-

dour, wealth, abundance, etc. Having said that, you should expect to find on the shelves of any department store admirable masterpieces, accessories capable of astonishing for their constructive daring, and instead, to date, you only find endless quantities of trainers quoting each other and rubber slippers of all sorts with logos in pure horror vacui style. Where has the premium product gone?

What future lies ahead for the hand-milled shoe of yesteryear?

Empty shops, too much on offer, unsold due to poor content are a message that has not yet been well understood by the managements of the big fashion houses and creative armchair turns will be of no use if the product is not put back at the centre, before the tag.

Kering docet. Cucinelli, Loro Piana, Hermes, Loewe, LV, Prada and a few others, at this juncture, seem to be the only examples of a renaissance that can only be brought about in all the other brands through the rediscovery of an authentic product with genuine manufacturing content. In this moment of profound stagnation, there is a high-end customer who has been able to make a difference and has been able to reward those brands that have distinguished themselves for their refinement, dodging those collections devoid of identity due to the axe of textbook merchandising.

Let us all go back to preferring uniqueness, the taste of leather and the handmade, while there is still time. The logic of the big players has flattened the offer in recent years towards product uniformity and trivialisation, impacting on the specialisation of our workers and our supply chains. Hand stitchers, millers, and workers specialised in finishing and craftsmanship are increasingly unavailable.

When was the last time you picked up a totally handmade and 100% hand-stitched shoe? Unfortunately, most of the world’s population can be said to have never seen one. It is in these values that luxury must be found, in this our renaissance is at stake. New credit to the hands!

Putting the product back at the centre could enable us to discover those new and much-needed talents that are currently suffering in the shadow of a few pigeon-holed designers. If fashion is a dream, the commercial equation can never win out over talent and imagination, the lack of revenue is saying it in clear numbers.

In this collective wait, which we hope to be able to follow up, all that remains for us to do is to tackle the last enemy of authenticity in order to find the bandole again: we are talking about the time component with which everything today is consumed too quickly.

True craftsmanship needs thought and slowness. I am sure that the future holds hope for us, but we must recover the right time for the creative gesture and craft. Always document yourself and learn to look beyond the upper. Understanding how a sole is welded, for example, is the first important thing to do if we want to learn to distinguish and buy well. Not everyone knows that there are dozens of methods for making a shoe, each for its own use and for a different result. Be wary of shoes that are simply glued on and prefer those that are sewn on. Underneath a footbed, always look to see if there is a stitching because it corresponds to constructive authenticity. Looking at the inner details of a shoe, such as the lining for example, may seem secondary because it is often put on the back burner by all fashion houses, but in reality it allows us to easily distinguish what kind of product we have on our hands.

Strange as it may seem, the lining is the most important element because it is in contact with our foot and its choice, tanning and qualities will influence not only the mechanical resistance but the breathability and healthiness of our shoe. When you enter a shop, do not stop at appearances, do not prefer objects only for the brand they represent, but start investigating what is hidden from view.

The value, the real value, lies in the hands and smell of the leather.

Expo Riva Schuh e Gardabags aprono la stagione estiva Dal 14 al 17 giugno 2025 a Riva del Garda si testerà la ripresa del mercato. Si rinnovano gli appuntamenti con i trend di consumo, l’innovazione dedicata al retail e l’analisi dei mercati internazionali.

xpo Riva Schuh e Gardabags saranno, come da tradizione, le prime manifestazioni fieristiche ad aprire la stagione della moda Primavera Estate 2026. Soprattutto inaugureranno il secondo semestre del 2025 che, a detta di molti, dopo tanta incertezza generata da una situazione geopolitica instabile, dovrebbe lanciare i primi segnali di ripresa.

Chiediamo ad Alessandra Albarelli, Direttrice Generale di Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, di valutare l’attuale situazione del mercato: «Il confronto con chi opera quotidianamente nel mondo delle calzature, delle borse e degli accessori ci consegna una situazione ancora incerta all’interno della quale, però, si colgono alcuni segnali promettenti. Confidiamo siano i primi di una serie. Sarà importante partecipare a Expo Riva Schuh e Gardabags proprio per verificare la direzione che sta prendendo il mercato. Per confrontarsi sugli scenari possibili, oltre che valutare le nuove collezioni proposte da un panorama di espositori che confermano il loro carattere di internazionalità. Come sempre il nostro posizionamento temporale a inizio stagione ci permette di essere la cartina di tornasole perfetta per indirizzare i propri acquisti.»

Cosa possiamo aspettarci dall’edizione di giugno di Expo Riva Schuh e Gardabags?

«La novità più importante è il profondo rinnovamento di Gardabags che crescerà per dimensioni, varietà di proposte, visibilità e fascino dell’allestimento. Occuperà dei padiglioni dedicati (A2 e B2) e a

tutti gli effetti si affermerà come un evento a sé stante, nonostante rimanga integrato e sinergico con Expo Riva Schuh.

Per il resto ritroveremo quelli che ormai si possono considerare appuntamenti fissi: l’Innovation Village Retail che ospiterà un nuovo gruppo di startup con le loro proposte innovative dedicate al mondo della distribuzione; riproponiamo l’Area Highlights in cui scoprire i trend di consumo dei prossimi mesi (scarpe, borse e sneaker per uomo e donna) così da valutare con maggiore consapevolezza gli acquisti da concludere durante i giorni di fiera; i Market Focus forniranno indicazioni precise sulla direzione intrapresa dai mercati internazionali.

Da ribadire l’importanza di accogliere una platea di compratori sempre più internazionale e variegata.»

Torniamo a Gardabags. Quali le novità salienti da evidenziare?

«Prima di tutto il format innovativo teso a facilitare l'incontro tra espositori e visitatori. Lo spazio espositivo dedicato a Gardabags, infatti, verrà suddiviso in 3 aree. La prima: Gardabags Sourcing dedicata ai produttori o trader del mass market/discount. La seconda: Gardabags Sourcing4Bridge per le aziende che richiedono design personalizzati da interpretare e sviluppare o produzioni private label. La terza: Gardabags Brands, l'area dove si concentreranno le aziende che espongono prodotti e collezioni a marchio proprio.

Per ogni area verranno selezionati gli operatori che meglio rappresentano una specifica catena del valore assicurando un ottimo mix dell’offerta.

Ogni stand, inoltre, sarà corredato da una Identity Board che aiuterà i compratori a capire immediatamente le principali caratteristiche dei potenziali fornitori.

Citerei, da ultimo, gli allestimenti studiati ad hoc che creeranno un’atmosfera alla moda, molto accattivante.»

Siete soddisfatti delle adesioni raccolte fino ad ora per il rinnovato Gardabags?

«Molto. C’è entusiasmo attorno al progetto. L'obiettivo è quello di arrivare a circa 100 fra espositori e brand rappresentati in questa prima edizione di giugno 2025. Già confermata la presenza di alcuni Brand - tra cui Pelletteria Charlotte, Marina Galanti, Hanney Bear, Innuè, Keddo, Nannini Firenze, Xti, Vuch. Per le altre aree sarà marcata la presenza internazionale da Portogallo, Turchia, India, Hong Kong e Cina, Bangladesh e Pakistan. Buona anche la selezione di valigeria con espositori provenienti da uno dei maggiori distretti produttivi cinesi.»

Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags kick off the summer season Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags will, as usual, be the first trade fairs to open the Spring/Summer 2026 fashion season. Above all, they will kick off the second half of 2025, which, according to many, should see the first signs of recovery after so much uncertainty caused by an unstable geopolitical situation.

We asked Alessandra Albarelli, General Manager of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, to assess the current market situation: «Discussions with those who work daily in the world of footwear, bags and

accessories reveal a situation that is still uncertain but with some promising signs. We are confident that these are the first of many. It will be important to participate in Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags precisely to verify the direction the market is taking. To discuss possible scenarios, as well as to evaluate the new collections proposed by a range of exhibitors who confirm their international character. As always, our timing at the beginning of the season allows us to be the perfect litmus test for guiding purchases.»

What can we expect from the June edition of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags?

«The most important news is the major revamp of Gardabags, which will grow in size, variety of offerings, visibility and appeal.

It will occupy dedicated pavilions (A2 and B2) and will effectively establish itself as a separate event, while remaining integrated and synergistic with Expo Riva Schuh.

For the rest, we will find what can now be considered regular features: the Innovation Village Retail, which will host a new group of start-ups with their innovative offerings dedicated to the world of distribution; we are bringing back the Highlights Area, where visitors can discover the consumer trends for the coming months (shoes, bags and sneakers for men and women) so that they can make more informed purchasing decisions during the fair; the Market Focus will provide precise indications on the direction taken by international markets.

It is important to reiterate the prominence of welcoming an increasingly international and diverse audience of buyers.»

Let's go back to Gardabags. What are the most important new features?

«First of all, the innovative format aimed at facilitating encounters between exhibitors and visitors. The exhibition space dedicated to Gardabags will be divided into three areas. The first: Gardabags Sourcing, dedicated to mass market/discount manufacturers or traders. The second: Gardabags Sourcing4Bridge, for companies requiring customised designs to be interpreted and developed or private label production. The third: Gardabags Brands, the area where companies exhibiting their own brand products and collections will be concentrated. For each area, operators who best represent a specific value chain will be selected, ensuring an excellent mix of offerings. Each stand will also be equipped with an Identity Board that will help buyers immediately understand the main characteristics of potential suppliers.

Lastly, I would mention the specially designed layout that will create a fashionable, very appealing atmosphere.»

Are you satisfied with the number of participants registered so far for the revamped Gardabags?

«Very much so. There is a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the project. The goal is to reach around 100 exhibitors and brands represented in this first edition in June 2025. Several brands have already confirmed their attendance, including Pelletteria Charlotte, Marina Galanti, Hanney Bear, Innuè, Keddo, Nannini Firenze, Xti and Vuch. Other areas will feature a strong international presence from Portugal, Turkey, India, Hong Kong, China, Bangladesh and Pakistan. There is also a good selection of luggage with exhibitors from one of China's major manufacturing districts.»

Come è iniziato il tuo percorso all’interno di Cristiano di Thiene?

Mi sento parte di una grande squadra. Sono entrata in Cristiano di Thiene giovanissima, mossa da una passione per l’abbigliamento e per l’immagine che mi accompagna fin da bambina. Con le mie intuizioni e la mia creatività ho contribuito, negli anni, all’evoluzione e al rinnovamento delle collezioni. Chi mi conosce mi descrive come una persona visionaria, esteta, appassionata. Io non amo parlare di me: preferisco che siano i progetti, le idee e i risultati a parlare per me e i prodotti a raccontare il nostro mondo.

Qual è l’identità del marchio?

Nonostante il processo di industrializzazione, l’identità artigianale dell’azienda resta salda, fondata sulla cura del dettaglio, sull’amore per il prodotto e su una qualità senza compromessi, sempre più orientata a offrire il meglio al cliente finale. Viviamo un momento storico complesso, in cui tutto è moda, ma nulla è moda, in cui tutto è abbigliamento ma manca spesso un’identità. In questo scenario, Aeronautica Militare si distingue come un brand che comunica valori autentici attraverso abiti e accessori ispirati al mondo del volo, alla nostra Aeronautica Militare e ai suoi ideali.

Come si caratterizza il vostro sguardo al futuro?

L’abbigliamento sta evolvendo, influenzato da tematiche come la sostenibilità, l’innovazione tecnologica, la scelta delle materie prime e le nuove esigenze dei consumatori. Il ruolo del designer è quello di intercettare questi cambiamenti, interpretarli e trasformarli in prodotti funzionali e accattivanti. È una sfida entusiasmante, che ci spinge ogni giorno a guardare avanti con passione e determinazione. In un mondo che cambia, il nostro stile rimane però autentico, coraggioso, capace di volare alto, come chi lo indossa.

Come si caratterizza la linea da donna Aeronautica Militare?

La collezione di scarpe da donna firmata Aeronautica Militare combina design di tendenza e funzionalità, offrendo modelli per ogni stagione e occasione. Dagli anfibi stringati in pelle perfetti per affrontare i mesi più freddi, alle sneakers in suede e nylon con dettagli colorati ideali per un look casual e dinamico. Rosanna Sofia Pedone, Women’s Style Manager of Cristiano di Thiene Spa, the company that manufactures and distributes Aeronautica Militare, tells the story and success of this brand that has been able to evolve without ever betraying its original values inspired by the world of flight and high quality.

Cristiano di Thiene is the company that produces and markets the Aeronautica Militare brand. Its roots go back to the 1940s, when Cristiano Sperotto, then a young tailor with a strong passion for flying, founded his company with the intention of creating fabric and leather garments of the highest quality. His enthusiasm for aviation soon led him to make leather jackets for the pilots of the Frecce Tricolori, an intuition that would profoundly mark the brand’s identity.

This vision was joined by his sons, Armando Pio and Paolo, who inherited a passion for tailoring, an entrepreneurial sense and a love of flying. It is the beginning of a path that will lead the Aeronautica Militare brand to become a recognised and globally distributed reference point.

The first accessories project, which marked the brand’s entry into this segment, was the redesign of the helmet bag and the iconic pilots’ flight boots: two items that are and will remain emblems of Aeronautica Militare’s identity. We talk about this with Rosanna Sofia Pedone, Head of Womenswear Style at Cristiano di Thiene Spa. How did your journey within Cristiano di Thiene begin?

I feel part of a great team. I joined Cristiano di Thiene when I was very young, driven by a passion for clothing and image that has accompanied me since I was a child. With my intuition and creativity I have contributed, over the years, to the evolution and renewal of the collections. Those who know me describe me as a visionary, an aesthete, a passionate person. I do not like to talk about myself: I prefer projects, ideas and results to speak for me and products to tell our world.

What is the brand identity?

Despite the process of industrialisation, the company’s artisan identity remains strong, based on attention to detail, love for the product and uncompromising quality, increasingly geared to offering the best to the end customer. We live in a complex historical moment, in which everything is fashion but nothing is fashion, in which everything is clothing but identity is often lacking. In this scenario, Aeronautica Militare stands out as a brand that communica-

tes authentic values through clothes and accessories inspired by the world of flight, our Air Force and its ideals.

How is your vision of the future characterised?

Clothing is evolving, influenced by issues such as sustainability, technological innovation, choice of raw materials and new consumer demands. The role of the designer is to intercept these changes, interpret them and transform them into functional and appealing products. It is an exciting challenge, which pushes us every day to look forward with passion and determination. In a changing world, however, our style remains authentic, courageous, and able to fly as high as those who wear it.

What characterises the Aeronautica Militare women’s line?

The Aeronautica Militare women’s shoe collection combines trendy design and functionality, offering models for every season and occasion. From leather lace-up boots perfect for tackling the colder months, to suede and nylon trainers with coloured details ideal for a casual and dynamic look. Alessandro Fabian “Fatigue exalts me”

Alessandro Fabian, due volte olimpico e oggi volto dell’Ironman, racconta la sua metamorfosi d’atleta.

Dalla passione per l’eleganza al dolore dell’esclusione olimpica, senza mai smettere di credere in sé stesso.

«Non puoi dominare il triathlon se non sei disposto a farti dominare dalla fatica». Alessandro Fabian, classe ’88, padovano, è uno di quelli che la sofferenza se la mangia a colazione. Due volte olimpico (Londra 2012, Rio 2016), e un posto come riserva a Tokyo 2021, che ancora punge come un ago sotto pelle, oggi punta dritto al traguardo più epico: l’Ironman. Nel suo palmares tante vittorie ai campionati italiani e tutti e tre i gradini del podio agli Europei.

Il suo viaggio nello sport parte da una piscina.

«Ho iniziato a nuotare a 4 anni, seguendo mio fratello maggiore. Ma correvo anche bene, nelle campestri di scuola mi sentivo vivo. Un allenatore mi disse: prova il triathlon. Da lì è cominciata l’avventura.

Era il 2005. Ho scoperto che amavo esplorare: gare in giro per l’Italia, gente nuova, orizzonti larghi. Il triathlon mi ha consegnato il mondo.»

Come si gestisce la fatica?

«Con l’allenamento, ovvio. Ma anche con la testa. Il rapporto con il dolore evolve, cambia. Da giovani si spinge d’istinto. Poi servono i “marginal gains”: respirazione, mobilità, alimentazione, consapevolezza. Sono dettagli che spostano l’ago della prestazione.»

Stile sportivo o elegante?

«Elegantissimo, quando posso. Mocassino senza calzini, trench, camicia con ascot. Mi piace vestirmi bene, ogni tanto fuggire dall’idea della tuta. È un modo per sentirmi anche altro, per uscire dalla routine.»

E l’esclusione da Tokyo?

«Una ferita. Scelta poco oggettiva, secondo me. Ma lì ho capito che dovevo chiudere un ciclo. Il 2021 è stato duro, ma poi nel 2022 ho vinto a Jesolo e il campionato italiano il mese dopo. Quella vittoria mi ha ridato fuoco. È lì che è nato il nuovo me, quello delle lunghe distanze.»

Fabian corre, nuota, pedala. Ma soprattutto: trasforma ogni sconfitta in un trampolino. La fatica lo esalta. Lo plasma. E, in fondo, lo rivela. >

Alessandro Fabian, two-time Olympian and now the face of the Ironman, tells of his metamorphosis as an athlete. From the passion for elegance to the pain of Olympic exclusion, without ever ceasing to believe in himself.

“You cannot dominate the triathlon if you are not willing to be dominated by fatigue”. Alessandro Fabian, born in ‘88, from Padua, is one of those who eats suffering for breakfast. A two-time Olympian (London 2012, Rio 2016), and a reserve place in Tokyo 2021, which still stings like a needle under the skin, today he is aiming straight at the most epic goal: the Ironman. In his palmares many victories at the Italian championships and all three steps of the podium at the European Championships.

His journey in sport starts in a swimming pool.

“I started swimming at the age of four, following my older brother.

But I also ran well, in the cross-country at school I felt alive. A coach told me: try the triathlon. From there the adventure began. It was 2005. I discovered that I loved exploring: races around Italy, new people, broad horizons. The triathlon gave me the world.”

How do you manage fatigue?

“With training, of course. But also with the head. The relationship with pain evolves, it changes. When you’re young, you push instinctively. Then you need the ‘marginal gains’: breathing, mobility, nutrition, awareness. These are details that move the performance needle.”

Sporty or elegant style?

“Elegant, when I can. Loafer without socks, trench coat, shirt with ascot. I like to dress nicely, every now and then I escape from the idea of a jumpsuit. It’s a way to feel something else too, to get out of the routine.”

And the exclusion from Tokyo?

“A wound. Not an objective choice, in my opinion. But then I realised I had to close a cycle. 2021 was tough, but then in 2022 I won in Jesolo and the Italian championship the following month. That victory set me on fire again. That’s where the new me, the longdistance me, was born.”

Running, swimming, cycling. But above all: Fabian turns every defeat into a springboard. Fatigue exalts him. It shapes him. And, in the end, reveals him.

The best-selling bags we will see at Gardabags Alcuni spunti tratti dalle passerelle forniscono indicazioni sulle caratteristiche che dovranno avere borse e accessori moda per scalare la classifica delle vendite.

o, non abbiamo la sfera di cristallo. Però, l’analisi delle sfilate di New York, Parigi e Milano, da poco concluse, può fornire alcuni indizi interessanti riguardo le peculiarità che andranno a caratterizzare i modelli più interessanti di borse e accessori moda in vista del prossimo autunno/inverno 2025-26. Quali stili vedremo esposti in vetrina? Quali risulteranno i più venduti?

L’UOMO RITROVA LA BORSA DA LAVORO La funzionalità che tipicamente l’uomo cerca nelle borse che lo accompagnano al lavoro rimane un requisito fondamentale. Le passerelle, però, suggeriscono che a questo scopo meramente utilitaristico vi si aggiunga una forza estetica capace di andare oltre il trasporto di documenti e dispositivi così da fornire elementi di stile che denotino personalità e identità.

TEXTURE ESOTICHE PER LA DONNA Materiali dal sapore esotico, siano essi veri o stampati. Sono loro che vanno a ridefinire il concetto di lusso, a richiamare quel senso di preziosità di cui non si può fare a meno. Spesso la scelta di queste texture si accompagna a tonalità di colore che ne esaltano la particolarità. Si può addirittura arrivare a giocare con le sfumature.

Risulta spesso molto importante che l’accessorio sia coordinato con i capi d’abbigliamento. Solo così si ottiene l’atmosfera perfetta, esotica e ricercata.

RITORNANO PELO E PELLICCIA È forse il tema più visto durante le recenti sfilate. Pelo e pelliccia si fanno interpreti di un linguaggio visivo e tattile che sfugge a ogni definizione tradizionale. Lungo o raso, vero o finto, monocolore o stampato, il pelo si è affermato come protagonista assoluto nella pelletteria, dalle silhouette più eleganti fino alle forme sportive. Può caratterizzare un modello rivestendolo completamente, ma viene molto utilizzato anche solo come dettaglio.

MANICI E FORME FANNO LA DIFFERENZA Se non dovessero bastare i materiali dal sapore esotico o l’utilizzo della pelliccia per impreziosire, la chiave di volta per rendere speciale una collezione si può trovare in forme assolutamente particolari e inusuali. Chanel, per esempio, stupisce con proporzioni micro, ma anche con un design estremamente allungato. C’è chi sorprende con borse che sembrano portagioie privi di spessore.

Al manico gioiello di Cavalli fa da contrappunto il geometrico, a richiamare forme di cartone, di Kostadinov.

E se Valentino punta sull’idea del doppio, Valli pensa a una borsa che ricorda un morbidissimo cuscino.

Quasi surreale la scelta di forme e manici di Ottolinger che vuole far credere di tenere insieme la borsa con delle graffette. Forma e manici, quindi: ecco gli ingredienti segreti per conferire personalità alle nuove proposte.

LE BORSE DI TENDENZA SARANNO A GARDABAGS Il primo palcoscenico su cui vedremo esprimersi questi trend sarà senza dubbio quello di Riva del Garda. Come da tradizione, infatti, Expo Riva Schuh e Gardabags apriranno la nuova stagione (dal 14 al 17 giugno 2025), in cui troveranno eco le influenze espresse dalle sfilate appena concluse, sia nei modelli continuativi che nelle nuove proposte di collezione.

GARDABAGS SOURCING4BRIDGE Qui saranno posizionati produttori che offrono servizi differenziati e più strutturati in grado di presentare dei propri modelli e di svilupparne altri in base alle richieste dei propri clienti: brand di abbigliamento o aziende di pelletteria. Qualità, materiali e prezzi più alti per clienti che spaziano dall’High Street al Bridge.

I campionari di borse e accessori moda in cui ritrovare gli spunti appena suggeriti saranno molti di più rispetto alle edizioni passate, vista la grande novità del debutto del nuovo format espositivo di Gardabags. Un format di fiera innovativo, studiato per semplificare la ricerca del partner ideale per il proprio business grazie alla selezione accurata e bilanciata degli espositori identificati non in base alla tipologia dei prodotti, al prezzo o alla provenienza, bensì alle caratteristiche della loro offerta e al tipo di interazione che intercorre fra loro e i buyer. Un nuovo spazio dedicato nei padiglioni A2 e B2 ospiterà i circa 100 espositori di Gardabags che verranno suddivisi in 3 aree. Runway trends hint at the must-have qualities bags and fashion accessories will need to dominate next season’s sales.

No, we don’t have a crystal ball. But the recently concluded fashion weeks in New York, Paris and Milan do offer some interesting clues about the must-have features that will define the most appealing bags and fashion accessories for the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2025–26 season. What styles will we see in shop windows? Which ones will top the sales charts?

THE BRIEFCASE RETURNS TO MEN’S FASHION Practicality remains a key requirement for men when it comes to work bags. However, the runways suggest that alongside this purely functional purpose, there’s now an added emphasis on visual appeal – bags that do more than just carry documents and devices, but also express style, personality and identity.

EXOTIC TEXTURES FOR WOMEN Materials with an exotic feel – whether genuine or printed – are redefining the idea of luxury, evoking a sense of opulence that one simply can’t do without. These textures are often paired with colour tones highlighting their uniqueness, and even lend themselves to subtle plays on tone and shading. More often than not, coordinating the accessory with the outfit becomes key. Only then is the desired exotic, exclusive atmosphere truly achieved.

FUR AND FAUX FUR MAKE A COMEBACK This was perhaps the most prominent theme on the recent runways. Fur and faux fur are taking on a visual and tactile language that defies traditional definitions. Whether long or cropped, real or synthetic, solid-coloured or printed, fur has firmly established itself as a key player in leather goods – from the most elegant silhouettes to sporty shapes. It can define an entire piece when used as a full covering, but is just as effective when applied as a detail.

HANDLES AND SHAPES MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE If exotic textures or fur details don’t suffice, it’s often bold and unconventional shapes that make the difference. Chanel, for example, makes a statement with micro proportions, but also an extremely elongated design. Some brands surprise with bags that resemble flat jewellery cases.

Cavalli’s jewelled handle contrasts with Kostadinov’s geometric shapes, reminiscent of cardboard constructions. And while Valentino plays on the concept of duality, Valli imagines a bag that resembles an ultra-soft cushion. Ottolinger’s approach to shapes and handles borders on the surreal, with designs that appear to be held together by staples.

Shape and handle design, then, become the key elements that infuse this season’s new offerings with character.

THE LATEST TRENDS AT GARDABAGS The first stage where these trends will undoubtedly come to life is Riva del Garda. As tradition dictates, Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags will open the new season – from 14 to 17 June 2025 – mirroring the latest runway inspirations across both classic collections

and new launches. Gardabags’ new exhibition format will bring a notable increase in trend-driven bag and accessory collections compared to past editions.

An innovative trade fair format designed to simplify the search for the ideal business partner, thanks to a carefully balanced selection of exhibitors – chosen not by product type, price or origin, but by the nature of their offering and the type of interaction they establish with buyers.

A new dedicated space in halls A2 and B2 will host approximately 100 Gardabags exhibitors, divided into 3 areas. Essentially three fairs in one, designed to welcome every buyer in a carefully styled setting, within a high-impact atmosphere.

GARDABAGS SOURCING This area will feature manufacturers or traders targeting buyers operating in the mass-market/discount sector. It is the ideal space for clothing chains, companies specialising in footwear and accessories, as well as hypermarkets looking to connect with mass-market manufacturers capable of delivering reliable services. Prices in this area generally correspond to the market entry level.

GARDABAGS SOURCING4BRIDGE This area will host manufacturers capable of offering more structured and differentiated services, presenting their own models in addition to developing new ones based on their clients’ requests – whether clothing brands or leather goods companies. Higher quality, materials and prices aimed at clients ranging from High Street to Bridge.

GARDABAGS BRANDS Exhibitors participating with their own brands – already distributed internationally, primarily in Europe – will be located in this area.

Brands targeting large-scale general retail or high street multibrand retail, as well as non-specialist retailers.

For each area, operators will be selected based on how well they represent a specific value chain, ensuring a strong and balanced mix of offerings. All this within an attractive exhibition setting designed to make buyers’ search easier – supported by an Identity Board displayed outside each stand.

Several Italian brands have already confirmed their participation, including Pelletteria Charlotte, Marina Galanti, Nannini Firenze, Innuè, in addition to European brands Custo Barcelona, Keddo, The Chesterfields and Vuch. Other areas will feature a strong international line-up of manufacturers from Turkey, India, China, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Una frase che punge come uno spillo infilato in una giacca di cachemire. E che racchiude, in sette parole, il grande equivoco della moda sostenibile: nobile nei proclami, confusa nei fatti.

Eppure, tra le pieghe di un settore che ha sempre avuto il vezzo di vestirsi bene anche quando faceva male, cominciano a spuntare esperimenti seri. Idee precise e concrete. Non miraggi utopici, ma tentativi tangibili di cucire insieme stile e coscienza. Tre progetti – molto diversi fra loro, ma simili nello spirito – provano a portare il verbo della sostenibilità là dove spesso regnava spreco e opulenza.

Il primo a far notizia è stato John Galliano con Recicla, la sua creatura per Maison Margiela. Chi conosce il linguaggio peculiare e raffinato dello stilista, sa che nulla è mai lasciato al caso. Con Recicla, Galliano prende l’idea di Replica (riprodurre fedelmente capi d’archivio) e la carica di un’energia nuova: invece di copiare, ricicla.

Ritaglia, riassembla, ricuce. Una giacca da escursionista diventa parte di un abito da sera. Un trench borghese sposa un cappello da apicoltore. Vogliamo parlare delle iconiche Tabi mixate con le Instapump, proposto in versione sneaker grazie alla collaborazione con Reebok. Il risultato? Non è solo un collage, è un’ibridazione – come se un esploratore e una duchessa fossero finiti insieme in lavatrice. Ma l’idea più brillante non è estetica, è ideologica: dare nuova vita all’esistente senza travestirlo, senza nasconderne la provenienza. Gli abiti Recicla portano etichette parlanti, con luogo e data di origine. Una carta d’identità cucita addosso. La moda non si vergogna più del proprio passato: lo mette in vetrina. >

Poi c’è Miomojo, piccola ma agguerrita realtà italiana. Specializzata in accessori sostenibili, è una delle poche B Corp del settore. Il suo colpo di genio? Collaborare con l’Udinese Calcio, squadra che ha fatto della sostenibilità una bandiera vera, non solo sbandierata.

Insieme lanciano una linea di accessori realizzati con un materiale quasi miracoloso: scarti dell’industria dell’olio d’oliva. Sì, proprio così. Dove noi vediamo fondo di bottiglia, loro vedono futuro. Il processo è semplice quanto rivoluzionario: quei residui, anziché essere buttati, vengono mescolati a sostanze sintetiche e termo applicate a una base in cotone così da diventare tessuti resistenti, impermeabili, belli. A differenza di tante trovate eco-chic, qui il punto non è fare scena ma fare strada: un borsone da trasferta che dura dieci anni è più sostenibile di un portafoglio compostabile che si sfalda sotto lo sferzare delle prime piogge.

Infine, Zerow. Nome da startup, ambizione rivoluzionaria. La sua missione è chiara: salvare i materiali di qualità – quei tessuti e pellami di pregio che giacciono dimenticati nei magazzini delle grandi aziende – e rimetterli in circolo. Invece di produrre nuovo, Zerow preferisce riattivare l’esistente. E non lo fa da sola. Coinvolge artigiani, designer emergenti, artisti visivi. Il progetto Fashion Beyond Waste, tenutosi a Firenze, è stato un esempio perfetto: 13 brand, tre artisti, performance, installazioni. Non una sfilata, ma un laboratorio creativo dove ogni pezzo raccontava una seconda possibilità.

La trovata più intelligente? Rendere il backstage protagonista: non solo il prodotto finito, ma il processo. Perché se il problema è il consumo cieco, la risposta è l’educazione dello sguardo.

Tre progetti, tre approcci, tre linguaggi, un filo rosso: la sostenibilità non si indossa come un cappotto alla moda. Si costruisce con pazienza, rigore, inventiva. Non è un trucco, è un mestiere.

La moda è come un vecchio palazzo decadente: da fuori può sembrare ancora affascinante, ma dentro scricchiola, perde pezzi, consuma più di quanto costruisca. Eppure, non serve abbatterlo per ripartire. A volte basta restaurare con intelligenza, riutilizzare i mattoni, cambiare l’impianto elettrico. Ci sono mille modi per farlo.

Speaking in 2021 is Stella McCartney, pioneer of ethical fashion. A sentence that stings like a pin stuck in a cashmere jacket. And which encapsulates, in seven words, the great misunderstanding of sustainable fashion: noble in proclamation, confused in deed.

And yet, in the folds of a sector that has always had the habit of dressing well even when it was bad, serious experiments are beginning to emerge. Precise, concrete ideas. Not utopian mirages, but tangible attempts to stitch together style and conscience.

Three projects - very different from each other, but similar in spirit - are trying to bring the word of sustainability to where waste and opulence often reigned.

The first to make headlines was John Galliano with Recicla, his creation for Maison Margiela. Those familiar with the designer’s distinctive and refined language know that nothing is ever left to chance. With Recicla, Galliano takes the idea of Replica (faithfully reproducing archive garments) and charges it with a new energy: instead of copying, he recycles. He cuts, reassembles, stitches.

A hiker’s jacket becomes part of an evening dress. A bourgeois trench coat marries a beekeeper’s hat. We want to talk about the iconic Tabi mixed with Instapump, proposed in trainer version thanks to the collaboration with Reebok. The result? It’s not just a collage, it’s a hybridisation - as if an explorer and a duchess had ended up together in the washing machine. But the most brilliant idea is not aesthetic, it is ideological: to give new life to the existing without disguising it, without hiding its origin. Recicla clothes carry talking labels, with place and date of origin. An identity card sewn on. Fashion is no longer ashamed of its past: it puts it on display.

Then there is Miomojo, a small but fierce Italian company. Specialising in sustainable accessories, it is one of the few B Corp in the sector. Its stroke of genius? Collaborating with Udinese Calcio, a team that has made sustainability a real flag, not just a flag-waving one. Together they launched a line of accessories made from an almost miraculous material: waste from the olive oil industry. Yes, that’s right. Where we see bottle bottoms, they see futures. The process is as simple as it is revolutionary: those leftovers, instead of being thrown away, are combined with synthetics substances and thermo-applied to a cotton base in order to become a durable, waterproof, beautiful fabrics. Unlike so many eco-chic gimmicks, the point here is not to make a scene but to lead the way: an away bag that lasts ten years is more sustainable than a compostable wallet that falls apart under the lash of the first rains.

Three projects, three approaches, three languages, one red thread: sustainability is not worn like a fashionable coat. It is built with patience, rigour, inventiveness. It is not a trick, it is a craft.

Fashion is like a decadent old building: from the outside it may still look charming, but inside it creaks, loses pieces, consumes more than it builds. Yet, you don’t need to tear it down to restart. Sometimes you just need to restore it intelligently, reuse the bricks, change the electrical system. There are a thousand ways to do it.

Finally, Zerow. Start-up name, revolutionary ambition. Its mission is clear: to save quality materials - those fine fabrics and leathers that lie forgotten in the warehouses of big companies - and put them back into circulation. Instead of producing new, Zerow prefers to reactivate the existing. And it does not do it alone. It involves artisans, emerging designers, visual artists. The Fashion Beyond Waste project, held in Florence, was a perfect example: 13 brands, three artists, performances, installations. Not a fashion show, but a creative workshop where each piece told of a second chance. The cleverest gimmick? Making the backstage protagonist: not just the finished product, but the process. Because if blind consumption is the problem, the answer is educating the eye.

on una perfetta intuizione, negli anni ’80, il futurista Alvin Toffler sentenziò: “Gli analfabeti del XXI secolo non saranno quelli che non sanno leggere e scrivere, ma quelli che non sanno imparare, disimparare e reimparare.”

La citazione è stata scelta da Alberto Mattiello, membro del Comitato Scientifico di Expo Riva Schuh e Gardabags, per concludere il suo intervento incentrato su intelligenza artificiale e tecnologia nel settore calzaturiero, che ha tenuto lo scorso 3 aprile a Birmingham durante il Sustainability Summit organizzato dalla British Footwear Association.

Da sempre la fiera di Riva del Garda lavora per rendere il suo evento non solo la più importante occasione di fare business in ambito calzature e accessori a livello internazionale, ma anche per strutturare un hub di relazioni, informazioni, idee e innovazione.

Negli anni, quasi 60 startup sono state invitate a partecipare all’Innovation Village Retail - appuntamento fisso durante Expo Riva Schuh e Gardabags che verrà riproposto anche dal 14 al 17 giugno 2025 – per offrire indicazioni e opportunità concrete di evolvere il business della distribuzione di calzature e accessori.

Un lavoro di ricerca e di ‘consulenza’ che viene riconosciuto e trova spazio anche al di fuori del contesto fieristico, come dimostra l’invito a prendere parte al Sustainability Summit in qualità di relatori.

MA ALLE CALZATURE SERVE L’INTELLIGENZA ARTIFICIALE? Il settore calzaturiero, da sempre simbolo di artigianalità, stile e identità territoriale, è oggi immerso in un profondo processo di trasformazione. La crescente pressione per modelli produttivi sostenibili, la necessità di una maggiore efficienza operativa e le nuove aspettative dei consumatori stanno imponendo un ripensamento dell’intera catena del valore. IA NELLA FILIERA PRODUTTIVA: OTTIMIZZAZIONE, EFFICIENZA E PERSONALIZZAZIONE Uno dei maggiori vantaggi derivanti dall’integrazione dell’IA nel settore calzaturiero è la possibilità di ottimizzare ogni fase del processo produttivo. Gli algoritmi di machine learning analizzano enormi quantitativi di dati per ottimizzare il flusso dei materiali, ridurre gli scarti e migliorare la gestione delle risorse. La società con sede a New York opera all’intersezione tra commercio al dettaglio e tecnologia sostenibile, con l’obiettivo di ridurre la sovrapproduzione e l’eccesso di scorte nel settore dei beni di consumo, in particolare nella moda. La loro piattaforma digitale, denominata IMPACT SHOPPING™, utilizza tecnologie avanzate e IA per aggregare la domanda dei consumatori e coordinare la produzione in base agli acquisti anticipati. Questo approccio consente ai marchi di produrre solo ciò che è effettivamente richiesto, evitando sprechi e riducendo le emissioni di CO2 associate alla sovrapproduzione.

IFRETURNS: LA STARTUP CHE DETTA UN NUOVO PARADIGMA PER LA LOGISTICA DEI RESI Nel commercio elettronico, il reso rappresenta una delle criticità principali in termini di costi, gestione logistica e impatto ambientale.

Questo è particolarmente vero nel settore calzaturiero, dove le problematiche legate alla vestibilità spingono i consumatori a ordinare più modelli o numeri, sapendo di restituire parte della merce. IFRETURNS affronta il problema con un approccio radicalmente nuovo.

Artificial intelligence is transforming the footwear industry, optimising production, logistics and customer experience in a sustainable and personalised way.

With remarkable foresight, futurist Alvin Toffler declared in the 1980s: “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn”. The quote was chosen by Alberto Mattiello, member of the Scientific Committee of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags, to close his presentation on artificial intelligence and technology in the footwear industry, delivered on 3 April in Birmingham during the Sustainability Summit organised by the British Footwear Association.

The Riva del Garda exhibition has always worked to ensure its event is not only the most important international business platform for footwear and accessories, but also a hub for relationships, information, ideas and innovation. Over the years, nearly 60 startups have been invited to take part in the Innovation Village Retail – a recurring feature at Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags, which will return from 14 to 17 June 2025 – offering insights and real opportunities to transform and grow the footwear and accessories distribution business. An investment in research and “consultation” that has earned recognition beyond the exhibition itself, as demonstrated by the invitation to participate in the Sustainability Summit as speakers. And if Toffler foresaw that the ability to quickly adapt to change would become an essential skill, today that ability is more crucial than ever in the current technological and industrial landscape, often forcing professionals to rethink traditional processes.

In the next 10 years, we will have access to such advanced computational power that we’ll be able to digitally simulate any aspect of our current world. In the past two years alone, the cost of AI has dropped by an estimated 99.6%. There are now more than 30,000 AI applications already available online.

Even looking at these figures alone, it becomes clear that this dense network of innovation and potential is well worth exploring.

BUT DOES THE FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY REALLY NEED ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE? Long a symbol of craftsmanship, style and local identity, the footwear industry now finds itself in the midst of a profound transformation. Mounting pressure for sustainable production models, the demand for greater operational efficiency and shifting consumer expectations are driving a complete rethink of the entire value chain. In this context, artificial intelligence is emerging not merely as a technological aid, but as a true catalyst for innovation.

AI enables a deep re-engineering of processes – from product conception to distribution and post-sales management. IFRETURNS: THE STARTUP REDEFINING RETURNS LOGISTICS In e-commerce, returns remain one of the most critical challenges in terms of cost, logistics and environmental impact. This is especially true in the footwear industry, where issues related to fit often lead consumers to order multiple sizes or models, fully intending to return part of their purchase. IFRETURNS tackles the problem with a radically new approach. Using an AI-powered platform, IFRETURNS transforms returns management into an opportunity for conversion and customer loyalty. The system guides the user through a simplified three-click process, offering alternative product suggestions and encouraging exchanges rather than refunds. Il World Footwear Experts Panel è stato creato nel 2019 dal World Footwear, conducendo un sondaggio sulle condizioni commerciali del settore ogni semestre. L'obiettivo è quello di raccogliere informazioni sulle attuali condizioni commerciali all'interno dei mercati calzaturieri mondiali e di diffondere queste informazioni per fornire una panoramica accurata della situazione a livello globale. L'undicesima edizione di questa indagine online è stata condotta nei mesi di novembre e dicembre 2024 e si è concentrata sul ruolo della stampa 3D. Dai dati emerge come la stampa 3D avrà un impatto significativo sui processi di prototipazione nel settore calzaturiero. The 11th edition of this online survey was conducted in November and December 2024 and focused on the role of 3D printing. The data shows how 3D printing will have a significant impact on prototyping processes in the footwear industry.

Momad and Bisutex increasingly united In un’ottica di Total Look, si rafforzano le sinergie tra abbigliamento, calzatura, borse, bijoux e complementi, con le due fiere madrilene che si terranno insieme al padiglione 8 di IFEMA, dall’11 al 13 settembre 2025.

Ne parliamo con Julia Gonzalez Romo, direttrice anche di Intergift - Madridjoya.

Con settembre 2025 sono in programma importanti novità per le fiere della moda da lei dirette: Momad, Bisutex, Intergift e Madridjoya. Di cosa si tratta?

Da settembre Madridjoya raggiungerà la sua massima espansione e questo comporterà l’ampliamento dello spazio espositivo per la manifestazione dedicata ai gioielli e orologeria. Inoltre, nel corso degli ultimi anni ci siamo resi conto che esistono sinergie sempre più forti tra Momad e Bisutex, perché la calzatura è sempre più parte di un Total Look che comprende abbigliamento, calzature e pelletteria da una parte e bijoux e complementi dall’altra. Per tutti questi motivi, da settembre 2025 Madridjoya si sposterà al padiglione 4 e 6 e Bisutex al padiglione 8 insieme a Momad. Momad e Bisutex si terranno dall’11 al 13 settembre, Intergift dal 10 al 13 settembre e Madridjoya dall’11 al 14 settembre. Questi cambiamenti riguarderanno anche il futuro, naturalmente.

Parlando più nello specifico di Momad, la presenza italiana appare significativa. Cosa ci dice al riguardo?

Il mercato italiano è molto importante per noi e con gli italiani c’è molto affinità. In fondo, la comunicazione con gli italiani è molto semplice e lo stile di vita ha molti punti in comune. Abbiamo prodotti in grado di creare molte sinergie e che funzionano bene sul mercato italiano e su quello spagnolo. Anche per questo ogni anno lavoriamo per incrementare la presenza italiana non solo a Momad, ma anche a Bisutex, Intergift e Madridjoya. Se guardiamo al nostro programma Buyer, vediamo come la percentuale maggiore dei nostri partecipanti sia proprio costituita da italiani. I delegati che si occupano del coinvolgimento di aziende e buyer italiani nella partecipazione alle nostre fiere sono Nicolò e Diego Costanzo, in Galleria Passarella a Milano.

Nel mondo di oggi, sempre più digitalizzato e globalizzato, in molti ritengono che il ruolo tradizionale delle fiere di settore come momento di incontro e business sia ormai superato.

Qual è la sua opinione?

Con il Covid e l’avvento delle piattaforme digitali abbiamo pensato che il ruolo della fiera tradizionale andasse a finire. Invece, proprio il Covid ha dimostrato che i due mondi - quello fisico e quello digitale – non si sostituiscono l’uno all’altro, bensì sono complementari.

Questo perché avere la possibilità di vedere e toccare con mano il prodotto, parlare con le persone vis à vis, stringere relazioni e amicizie, ha una valenza e un’importanza diversa dal mero contatto esclusivamente digitale. Un po’ come è successo in passato tra tv e radio: la prima non ha sostituito la seconda, ma ciascuna si è ritagliata un ruolo e sono divenuti due media complementari. Certamente, se il prodotto in questione è un macchinario o un componente tecnico, l’importanza di vedere e toccare con mano non è la stessa che per un abito o una calzatura.

Un altro tema sempre più centrale è quello della sostenibilità.

Come lo state affrontando?

Ifema lavora da tempo per uno sviluppo sostenibile delle sue manifestazioni e ha ottenuto diverse certificazioni di sostenibilità. Gli arredi degli stand sono realizzati con materiali sostenibili, compresa la moquette, e sono a loro volta riciclati. Dove il prodotto lo permette, riduciamo anche l’illuminazione per risparmiare energia. Un altro aspetto su cui stiamo prestando attenzione è l’impronta di carbonio: abbiamo avviato un progetto pilota per valutare la carbon print delle attività che riguardano l’organizzazione delle nostre fiere e ci siamo resi conto che la voce più importante è rappresentata dai trasporti, sia dei visitatori, che degli espositori. E proprio su questo fronte stiamo cercando di capire come intervenire.

In a Total Look perspective, the synergies between clothing, footwear, bags, bijoux and accessories are being strengthened, with the two Madrid fairs to be held together in Hall 8 of IFEMA, from 11 to 13 September 2025. We talk about this with Julia Gonzalez Romo, also director of Intergift - Madridjoya.

With September 2025, there are important innovations planned for the fashion fairs you direct: Momad, Bisutex, Intergift and Madridjoya. What are they all about?

From September, Madridjoya will reach its maximum expansion and this will entail the expansion of the exhibition space for the jewellery and watchmaking event. In addition, over the last few years we have realised that there are increasingly strong synergies between Momad and Bisutex, because footwear is increasingly part of a total look that includes clothing, footwear and leather goods on the one hand and jewellery and accessories on the other.

For all these reasons, from September 2025 Madridjoya will move to pavilions 4 and 6 and Bisutex to pavilion 8 together with Momad. Momad and Bisutex will be held from 11 to 13 September, Intergift from 10 to 13 September and Madridjoya from 11 to 14

September. These changes will also affect the future, of course.

Speaking more specifically about Momad, the Italian presence appears significant. What can you tell us about this?

The Italian market is very important for us and there is a lot of affinity with the Italians. After all, communication with the Italians is very simple and the lifestyle has a lot in common. We have products that can create a lot of synergies and that work well in the Italian and Spanish markets. This is also why every year we work to increase the Italian presence not only at Momad, but also at Bisutex, Intergift and Madridjoya. If we look at our Buyer Programme, we see that the largest percentage of our participants are Italians. The delegates responsible for involving Italian companies and buyers in our trade fairs are Nicolò and Diego Costanzo, in Galleria Passarella in Milan.

In today's increasingly digitalised and globalised world, many believe that the traditional role of trade fairs as a meeting and business opportunity is outdated. What is your opinion?

With Covid and the advent of digital platforms, we thought that the role of the traditional trade fair was coming to an end. Instead, Covid has shown that the two worlds - the physical and the digital - do not replace each other, but are complementary. This is because having the opportunity to see and touch the product, to talk to people vis à vis, to form relationships and friendships, has a different value and importance from mere digital contact. A bit like what happened in the past between TV and radio: the former has not replaced the latter, but each has carved out a role for itself and they have become two complementary media. Of course, if the product in question is a piece of machinery or a technical component, the importance of seeing and touching is not the same as for a piece of clothing or a shoe.

Another increasingly central theme is sustainability. How are you addressing it?

Ifema has been working on the sustainable development of its events for some time and has obtained several sustainability certifications. The stand furnishings are made of sustainable materials, including carpeting, and are themselves recycled. Where the product allows, we also reduce lighting to save energy. Another aspect we are paying attention to is the carbon footprint: we have started a pilot project to assess the carbon print of the activities involved in organising our trade fairs and we have realised that the most important item is transport, both for visitors and exhibitors. And it is precisely on this front that we are trying to understand how to intervene.

zionali, forte di un legame tra commercio e industria, innovazione e creatività. Circa 300 i marchi provenienti da 25 Paesi che hanno presentato le loro nuove collezioni per l'autunno/inverno 2025/26, tra cui molti espositori di lunga data, e new entry.

Come forum centrale di comunicazione, il FUTURE HUB ha fornito a espositori e visitatori approfondimenti pratici, tavole rotonde e conferenze sulle nuove tendenze e i temi chiave per indirizzare gli operatori nell’affrontare la nuova stagione degli acquisti.

Seguendo la nozione di concept store, sono stati inseriti e integrati stilisticamente nei padiglioni della fiera accessori di tendenza come gioielli, scooter e articoli lifestyle, al fine di offrire a retailer e rivenditori nuove idee per arricchire la loro gamma di prodotti e implementare la loro attività.

ILM si è comunque confermata un importante appuntamento di business, e in particolare le giornate di sabato e domenica sono state caratterizzate da un'intensa attività commerciale, soprattutto a livello internazionale. Oltre al classico commercio al dettaglio di pelletteria, sempre più rivenditori di calzature e tessuti e acquirenti di noti grandi magazzini e concept store hanno preso parte alla manifestazione alla ricerca di borse, valigie e accessori per ampliare il proprio assortimento.

L’ appuntamento alla prossima edizione, la n. 162, si terrà dal 30 agosto al 1 settembre 2025, come di consueto a Offenbach, in Germania.

The 161st edition of the Offenbach leather goods fair, held from 15 to 17 February, highlighted the importance of interpersonal relationships for business development and the birth of new ideas and creative inspiration.

‘ILM has always been known as one of the leading international trade fairs for doing business and placing orders. But that alone is no longer enough today. We have moved from being just a trade fair where we make orders, to a platform for communication and strategy. Offenbach is where the future of the industry is fashioned,' these words of Arnd Hinrich Kappe, Managing Director of Messe Offenbach, best describe the new course of the event.

And the latest edition of ILM emphasised precisely this new role of the event, an ordering platform for fashionable bags, suitca-

ses, briefcases and accessories, but also a unique opportunity for personal interaction between international operators, a strong link between trade and industry, innovation and creativity. Around 300 brands from 25 countries presented their new collections for autumn/winter 2025/26, including many long-standing exhibitors and newcomers.

As a central communication forum, the FUTURE HUB provided exhibitors and visitors with practical insights, panel discussions and lectures on new trends and key topics to guide them through the new shopping season.

Following the concept store concept, trendy accessories such as jewellery, scooters and lifestyle items were incorporated and stylistically integrated into the exhibition halls, in order to offer retailers and retailers new ideas to enrich their product range and implement their business.

However, ILM confirmed itself as an important business event, and the days of Saturday and Sunday in particular were characterised by intense business activity, especially at the international level. In addition to the classic leather goods retail trade, more and more shoe and textile retailers and buyers from well-known department stores and concept stores attended the event in search of bags, luggage and accessories to widen their assortment.

The next edition, No. 162, will take place from 30 August to 1 September 2025, as usual in Offenbach, Germany.

Second half 2024: uneven growth but positive outlook for 2025 I dati del World Footwear mostrano una crescita disomogenea sui vari mercati, mentre le previsioni sono di un aumento dell'8,4% del consumo di calzature nel 2025. Resta il dominio dell'Asia come produttore mondiale e cresce l’importanza della stampa 3D.

L

a consueta indagine semestrale del World Footwear Experts Panel (iniziativa di APICCAPS - Associazione Portoghese Produttori Calzature, Componenti e Pelletteria) sul mercato calzaturiero mondiale, e relativa al secondo semestre 2024, mostra un quadro di grande variabilità ma con prospettive generali positive.

Le ultime statistiche sul commercio delle calzature per il terzo trimestre del 2024 evidenziano una crescita moderata nei mercatichiave, compensata da cali in altri. Nonostante queste condizioni disomogenee, le prospettive generali rimangono positive. La maggior parte degli intervistati prevede una crescita dei volumi di vendita e dei prezzi delle calzature, mentre la salute delle imprese si prevede che rimanga solida. Anche i livelli occupazionali dovrebbero stabilizzarsi, a testimonianza della fiducia nella tenuta del settore.

Nei prossimi tre anni si prevede un'ulteriore espansione dell'importanza dei canali digitali di vendita al dettaglio nelle vendite di calzature. Il costo delle merci e delle materie prime continua ad essere identificato dal gruppo di esperti come la sfida principale che l'industria calzaturiera dovrà affrontare nei prossimi mesi, insieme alla concorrenza nei mercati nazionali.

In questa edizione del sondaggio, è stato chiesto agli esperti di esprimere la loro opinione su quale sia la regione che più probabilmente registrerà la crescita più rapida della produzione di calzature nei prossimi cinque anni. Il 66,4% degli intervistati ha scelto l'Asia come risposta. Infine, alla domanda sull'impatto della stampa 3D sul settore calzaturiero, gli esperti hanno osservato che questa tecnologia dovrebbe avere un effetto particolarmente significativo sui processi di prototipazione.

FOCUS ON RETAIL Nel complesso, le previsioni sull'evoluzione dei prezzi al dettaglio nei prossimi sei mesi sono positive: la maggior parte degli intervistati prevede una crescita o una stabilità piuttosto che un calo.

La maggior parte degli intervistati (36,4%) prevede una crescita moderata (dall'1,5% al 5%), il che riflette un cauto ottimismo. Inoltre, il 24,3% prevede una forte crescita (dal 5% al 20%) e il 16,8% una crescita molto forte (oltre il 20%). Una quota del 14% prevede prezzi stabili per il periodo (da -1,5% a 1,5%). L'insieme di questi gruppi rappresenta oltre il 91% del campione, evidenziando una notevole fiducia da parte dei partecipanti. Al contrario, solo l'8,4% prevede un calo moderato (da -1,5% a -5%) e nessun intervistato prevede un calo forte o molto forte.

PROSPETTIVE SULLE QUANTITA’ DI CALZATURE VENDUTE Le prospettive sull'evoluzione delle quantità di calzature vendute per Paese sono altrettanto chiaramente positive, anche se leggermente meno ottimistiche: il 65,4% degli intervistati prevede una crescita delle quantità - quasi il 50% (49,5%) addirittura forte o molto forte - e il 22,4% una stabilizzazione, mentre il 12,1% prevede un calo. Nessun intervistato prevede un calo molto forte.

L'aumento simultaneo di quantità e prezzi dovrebbe tradursi in una forte performance di vendita.

CANALI RETAIL Oltre la metà degli intervistati prevede un aumento della quota dei canali digitali di vendita al dettaglio nei prossimi tre anni, con prospettive leggermente più forti per i negozi online a marchio proprio rispetto ai venditori online multimarca o generici. Le previsioni per i negozi fisici sono più moderate, ma rimangono positive. Tra questi, la grande distribuzione dovrebbe registrare i risultati migliori, con il 48% degli intervistati che prevede un aumento della sua importanza. Le aspettative per i negozi al dettaglio fisici a marchio proprio e multimarca sono notevolmente più deboli, ma comunque più ottimistiche rispetto ad altri canali di vendita al dettaglio non specificati.

Ciò evidenzia il continuo dominio dell'Asia nell'industria calzaturiera mondiale, grazie a fattori quali infrastrutture produttive consolidate, vantaggi in termini di costi e accesso a materie prime e manodopera qualificata. L'Africa si colloca al secondo posto con il 17,8% delle risposte, riflettendo il suo potenziale come polo emergente per la produzione di calzature, probabilmente grazie al miglioramento delle capacità industriali e ai crescenti investimenti nella regione. L'Europa (9,3%), il Sudamerica (3,7%) e il Nordamerica (2,8%) sono in netto ritardo, il che indica che queste regioni potrebbero incontrare difficoltà nell'espandere la produzione a un ritmo competitivo.

STAMPA 3D Si prevede che la stampa 3D avrà un impatto significativo sui processi di prototipazione nel settore calzaturiero. La maggioranza degli intervistati (52,2%) ne sottolinea l'uso nella prototipazione di componenti come suole o tacchi, mentre il 43,9% ne riconosce l'importanza nella prototipazione di strumenti di produzione come stampi o forme. Inoltre, il 35,5% degli intervistati prevede l'applicazione di questa tecnologia nella prototipazione di interi prodotti calzaturieri. Questi risultati indicano che la stampa 3D è apprezzata soprattutto per la sua capacità di snellire i processi di progettazione, ridurre i tempi di consegna e migliorare l'efficienza dello sviluppo del prodotto, in particolare nelle prime fasi della produzione.

The usual semi-annual survey by the World Footwear Experts Panel (an initiative of APICCAPS - Portuguese Footwear, Components and Leather Goods Manufacturers' Association) on the world footwear market, and covering the second half of 2024, shows a picture of great variability but with a generally positive outlook.The latest statistics on footwear trade for the third quarter of 2024 highlights a moderate growth in key markets offset by declines in others. >

Despite these uneven conditions, the overall outlook remains positive. Most respondents anticipate growth in footwear sales volumes and prices, while business health is expected to stay robust.

Employment levels are also projected to stabilize, reflecting confidence in the sector's resilience.

Over the next three years, the significance of digital retail channels in footwear sales is expected to further expand. The cost of merchandise and raw materials continues to be identified by the panel of experts as the primary challenge faced by the footwear industry in the next months, along with competition in domestic markets.

In this edition of the survey, the experts were asked about their opinions on which region is most likely to experience the fastest growth in footwear production over the next five years: 66.4% of respondents selected Asia as their answer. Finally, when asked about the impact of 3D printing on the footwear industry, experts noted that this technology is expected to have a particularly significant effect on prototyping processes.

FOCUS ON RETAIL Overall, there is a positive outlook regarding retail price evolution over the next six months, with most respondents expecting growth or stability rather than decline. The largest share of respondents (36.4%) anticipates moderate growth (1.5% to 5%), reflecting cautious optimism. Additionally, 24.3% expect strong growth (5% to 20%), and 16.8% foresee very strong growth (over 20%). A share of 14% anticipates stable prices for the period (-1.5% to 1.5%).

Combined, these groups account for more than 91% of the sample, highlighting significant confidence among participants. In contrast, only 8.4% anticipate a moderate decline (-1.5% to -5%), and no respondents predict a strong or very strong fall.

OUTLOOK ON FOOTWEAR QUANTITIES SOLD Perspectives on the evolution of the quantity of footwear sold by country are likewise clearly positive, although slightly less upbeat: 65.4% of respondents expect quantity to grow – almost 50% (49.5%) even strongly or very strongly – and 22.4% to stabilize, while 12.1% forecast it will fall. No respondents expect a very strong fall. The simultaneous increase in quantity and prices should result in a strong sales performance.

Europe (9.3%), South America (3.7%) and North America (2.8%) lag significantly, signaling that these regions may face challenges in expanding production at a competitive pace.

3D PRINTING 3D printing is expected to have a significant impact on prototyping processes within the footwear industry. A majority of respondents (52.2%) highlight its use in prototyping components such as soles or heels, while 43.9% recognize its importance in prototyping production tools like molds or lasts. Additionally, 35.5% of respondents foresee the application of this technology in prototyping entire footwear products. These findings indicate that 3D printing is primarily valued for its ability to streamline design processes, reduce lead times, and enhance product development efficiency, particularly in the early stages of production.

RETAIL CHANNELS Over half of respondents anticipate an increase in the share of digital retail channels over the next three years, with slightly stronger prospects for own-brand online stores compared to multi-brand or general online sellers. While forecasts for physical stores are more moderate, they remain positive. Among these, large-scale retail is expected to perform best, with 48% of respondents predicting an increase in its importance. Expectations for own-brand and multibrand physical retail stores are considerably weaker but still more optimistic than for other unspecified retail channels.
