Conceria Nuvolari: la prima conceria benefit I sistemi di concia Nature-L® e Graphene Leather® ideati da Conceria Nuvolari evolvono nel segno del rispetto ambientale, valorizzando la qualità della pelle. L’azienda diventa la prima conceria benefit, volta ad avere un impatto positivo sulla società e sulla biosfera.

Sostenibilità e lunga durata. Sono le parole chiave sui cui si basa il successo di Nature-L® e Graphene Leather®, due progetti rivoluzionari firmati Conceria Nuvolari, l’azienda di Monte Urano, in provincia di Fermo, specializzata nella produzione e commercializzazione di pelli ovocaprine e di incrociati destinate prevalentemente all’industria calzaturiera, pellettiera e dell’abbigliamento moda. Tutti i brevetti nati nei laboratori di ricerca della PMI innovativa guidata dall’imprenditrice Sara Santori, CEO dinamica e determinata, sono sviluppati nel pieno rispetto delle normative di settore e in particolare di tutti i protocolli per la tutela e la valorizzazione dell’ambiente. L’impresa marchigiana è tra i precursori nella sperimentazione di metodi di concia con il più basso tenore di metalli pesanti e senza l’impiego di cromo esavalente, in grado al tempo stesso di valorizzare la natura tradizionale del pellame.

“In questo periodo di vita sospesa a causa del Covid - ci spiega Sara Santori - abbiamo continuato a fare ricerca, investendo nel perfezionamento della concia metal free biodegradabile. Se da una parte abbiamo migliorato l’articolo Nature-L® con un upgrade della sua biodegradabilità, dall’altra abbiamo intrapreso una serie di azioni di governance che comprendono anche la valutazione e gestione delle emissioni di gas a effetto serra connesse con l’esercizio aziendale. A seguito dello studio LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) condotto dal Politecnico di Milano sui prodotti metal free biodegradabili della linea Nature-L®, dopo aver calcolato la quantità di Co2 emessa per ogni metro quadrato di pelle realizzata nel 2020, abbiamo provveduto a neutralizzarne l’impatto ambientale tramite l’installazione di impianti eolici e per forestazione secondo un progetto di carbon offset internazionale portato avanti con l’azienda Rete Clima (https://www.reteclima.it/aziende/nuvolari/).

Tale progetto promuove la realizzazione e l’esercizio di una wind farm in India, nel distretto di Satara, caratterizzata da una capacità energetica complessiva di 7,2 megawatt”. Per Conceria Nuvolari sostenibilità significa anche offrire una pelle più resistente affinché il prodotto finale possa dimostrare un’elevata durabilità. Il nuovo brevetto Graphene Leather® trasferisce sul pellame le straordinarie caratteristiche tipiche del grafene, un materiale costituito da un singolo strato di atomi di carbonio strettamente legato in un reticolo esagonale a nido d’ape, robusto come il diamante e flessibile come la plastica, nonché contraddistinto da elevate proprietà batteriostatiche e battericide. Dopo aver superato i requisiti standard di resistenza all’abrasione e alle sollecitazioni, solidità del colore, resa di piedaggio, Graphene Leather® ha oggi raggiunto un altro importante traguardo: la certificazione della sua capacità antibatterica al 99,99%.

Con la volontà di proseguire sul cammino intrapreso di sostenibilità, Conceria Nuvolari ha provveduto a certificare la biodegradabilità (ISO 20136) e a compostabilità (ISO 14855) della pelle Nature-L®, e la capacità antibatterica e anti-odore della pelle Graphene Leather®. Conceria Nuvolari ha inoltre presentato il report di sostenibilità (ISO 26000) a conferma del suo impegno al rispetto degli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile dell’Agenda 2030 dell’ONU, ottenendo a giugno 2021 lo status di Società Benefit: un nuovo modo di fare impresa, che guarda con rispetto al benessere socio-ambientale mentre genera profitto. Infine ha partecipato ad un progetto sul prodotto finito, realizzato con le proprie pelli, che ha ottenuto la certificazione CRADLE TO CRADLE.

Conceria Nuvolari: the first benefit tannery The Nature-L® and Graphene Leather® tanning systems designed by Conceria Nuvolari evolve in the name of environment respect, enhancing the quality of the leather. New governance actions have been adopted by the company.

Sustainability and long life. These are the keywords on which the success of Nature-L® and Graphene Leather® is based.

These two revolutionary projects are developed by Conceria Nuvolari, based in Monte Urano (Fermo province), specialized in the production of sheep and goatskins and other top-quality hides, used mainly in the footwear, leatherware and apparel sectors.

All patents created in the R&D laboratories of the ground-breaking SME led by the entrepreneur Sara Santori, dynamic and determined CEO, are developed in full compliance with sector regulations and especially with all protocols for the protection and enhancement of the environment.

The Marche-based company is among the forerunners in experimenting a low-rate heavy metals tanning process, without the use of hexavalent chromium, able to, at the same time, enhancing the traditional nature of the leather.

“In this period slowed down by Covid spread-out – explains Sara Santori – we kept on doing research, investing in the improvement of biodegradable metal free tanning. On the one hand, we have improved the Nature- L®technology upgrading its biodegradability; on the other, we have undertaken a series of governance actions that also include the assessment and management of the factory’s greenhouse gas emissions. The Politecnico di Milano conducted a study on the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) of the Nature-L® line biodegradable, metalfree products: after calculating the amount of CO2 emitted for each square meter of leather manufactured in 2020, we managed to neutralize the environmental impact through the installation of wind farms and forestation plants according to an international carbon offset project carried out with the Rete Clima company (https://www.reteclima.it/aziende/nuvolari/). This project promotes the construction and setup of a wind farm in India, in the Satara district, featuring an overall energy capacity of 7.2 megawatts.” According to Conceria Nuvolari, sustainability also means offering a more resistant leather so that the final product can be long-lasting. The new Graphene Leather® patent transfers to the leather the extraordinary features of graphene, a material consisting of a single layer of carbon atoms tightly bound in a hexagonal honeycomb frame, as robust as diamond and flexible like plastic; it also stands out for its high bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties. After passing the standard requirements of resistance to abrasion and stress, color fastness, footage yield, Graphene Leather® has now reached another important milestone: its 99.99% antibacterial property certification. Aiming at pursuing the sustainability path, Conceria Nuvolari’s Nature-L® leather has obtained the biodegradability (ISO 20136) and compostability (ISO 14855) certifications, while Graphene Leather® was tested to have antibacterial and anti-odor features.

Conceria Nuvolari also presented the sustainability report (ISO 26000) endorsing its commitment to comply with the sustainable development goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, achieving the status of Benefit Company in June 2021: a new way of doing business, which takes care of socio-environmental issues while generating profit.

Finally, the company participated in a project about the finished product, made with its own leathers, which obtained the CRADLE TO CRADLE certification.

SS2023 VISION LAB – Footwear and bag material trends Spring/ Summer 2023 ARSUTORIA VISION LAB DEVELOPS THE KEY CONCEPTS AND TRENDS FOR SHOES AND BAGS FOR THE NEXT SPRING/ SUMMER 2023 SEASON, TRANSLATING THEM INTO NEW MATERIAL PROPOSALS, WITH CREATIVE GENIUS AND THANKS TO THE COLLABORATION WITH SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPANIES IN THE FOOTWEAR AND LEATHER GOODS SECTOR Carlo Sorrenti, a passionate researcher of innovative biomaterials, is a product manager and consultant in research and development, specialising in materials for the luxury sector.

The founder and C.E.O. of the DOMINO EGO company, together with Arsutoria’s partner companies, has interpreted the trends proposed for next spring/summer 2023 in the Arsutoria Trends Guide, and developed new and unpublished materials specifically designed for footwear and leather goods.

Escape and exoticism related themes innervate luxurious and prestigious materials and are expressed through materials with a soft touch, but with the unique taste of distant latitudes.

Technological innovation does not miss and reveals itself with highly coloured and rubberised surfaces, or in proposals developed on multiple levels with different materials and textures, unexpected combinations and bright colours.

The return to nature, in the ppearance and substance, is renewed with earth tone creations and textures that recall veins and roots hidden in the ground.

Vibrant summer tones on surfaces that recall marble, contrasting flashes, sea beds or even denim are told with clamour. The chromatic exuberance reveals itself with solid colour backgrounds of great impact.

In this edition of Arsutoria Vision Lab, the collaboration with companies has also been extended to some of the best Brazilian tanning companies, within the framework of the Design Na Pele project, promoted by “Brazilian Leather”, a programme created in partnership between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Investments (Apex-Brasil) which aims to promote Brazilian leathers in the international design world and grow Brazilian tanneries through diversified creative and design contributions, broadening their knowledge of design processes and raising awareness on hot topics, such as innovation for the benefit of sustainability.

Il fondatore e C.E.O. della società DOMINO EGO ha interpretato, insieme alle aziende partner di Arsutoria, i trend proposti per la prossima primavera/estate 2023 nell’Arsutoria Trends Guide, e sviluppato nuovi ed inediti materiali specificamente pensati per calzature e pelletteria.

I temi dell'evasione e dell’esotismo innervano materiali lussuosi e prestigiosi e vengono espressi da materiali dalla mano morbida, ma dall’inconfondibile gusto di latitudini lontane.

Non manca l’innovazione tecnologica che si palesa in superfici molto colorate e gommate, oppure in proposte sviluppate su più livelli di differenti materiali e consistenze, con accoppiamenti imprevisti e colori sgargianti.

Il ritorno alla natura, nell’aspetto e nella sostanza, si rinnova con creazioni dai toni della terra, con texture che richiamano nervature e radici nascoste nel terreno.

I toni vibranti dell’estate sono raccontati con clamore, su superfici che possono richiamare il marmo, flash in contrasto, fondali marini, denim. L’esuberanza cromatica si palesa anche con campiture a tinta unita di grande impatto.

In questa edizione di Arsutoria Vision Lab la collaborazione con le aziende si è estesa anche ad alcune delle migliori realtà conciarie brasiliane, nell’alveo del progetto Design Na Pele, promossa dal “Brazilian Leather”, un programma nato in partnership fra il Centro per l’Industria Conciaria Brasiliana (CICB) e l’Agenzia Brasiliana per la Promozione degli Investimenti (Apex-Brasil) che ha l’intento di promuovere le pelli brasiliane nel mondo del design internazionale e far crescere le concerie brasiliane attraverso contributi creativi e progettuali diversificati, che ne amplino le conoscenze riguardo i processi di design e ne sensibilizzino l’attenzione su temi caldi, quali l’innovazione a vantaggio della sostenibilità.
