The future is in our hands or rather on our feet: this is the message conveyed by .0, the completely recyclable sneaker brand conceived to ‘make a break’ with the traditional concept of the linear consumption model of Buy-Use-Trash, in favour of a more virtuous and integral model of use and recycle that preserves the planet and resources for future generations. Founded by 23-year old Florentine David Braccini, who is strong from the footwear manufacturing heritage of his family’s factory that dates back two generations, .0 proposes a natural simplicity that is characterised however by sophisticated details, blending youthful and eco-sustainable oriented ideas with the experience of Tuscan artisans. .0 is in fact constructed using BIO-BASED materials derived from the waste of wood processing, without implying water use, while offering a product that is 100% cruelty-free. Even if it is a shoe that brings to mind a “running” shoe/runner in its shape, its silhouette suggests more elegant match-ups, capable of defusing the most formal style.

Fondato dal 23enne fiorentino David Braccini, e forte di un heritage calzaturiero di due generazioni impegnate nella fabbrica di famiglia, .0 propone una semplicità naturale che si caratterizza però nei dettagli ricercati, mescolando idee giovani e eco-sostenibili all'esperienza degli artigiani toscani. .0 è infatti costruita con materiali BIO BASED, derivati da scarti della lavorazione del legno, senza l’utilizzo di acqua, ed è completamente cruelty free. Anche se è una scarpa che ricorda nelle forme una “running”/runner, la sua silhouette suggerisce anche abbinamenti più eleganti, capaci di sdrammatizzare lo stile più formale.

Today, the universe of footwear branded L'Autre Chose is enriched by a new line born from the collaboration with the historic Superga brand, owned by the BasicNet group, which is specialised in the industry of apparel and athletic and casual footwear.

It’s a revamping of one of the iconic models of Superga, Alpina, which is proposed in a mid and low version: anti-rain sneakers with a rubber vulcanized grip-fast sole matched with an upper in pink and green rubberised calfskin with tone-on-tone laces. The capsule collection, which will be available in stores and online starting on 15 September, combine the sports heritage of Superga with the chic and ultra-feminine style of L'Autre Chose.

SL: PDX, THE REVOLUTION IN TRAIL RUNNING SHOES Speedland, strong from two decades of experience in product design and in the roles of team leader of the most important footwear brands in the world, wanted to create a trail running shoe absolutely unique and innovative, and to do so asked for the collaboration of one of the leading realities in the design of high-performance soles, solesbyMICHELIN. Together they gave life to SL:PDX, a completely customisable shoe, starting from the sole and continuing with the presence of an easily removable carbon fibre plate. The sole developed exclusively by solesbyMICHELIN, for the very first time uses cuttable blocks technology, the technology that allows the runner to customise the sole at the time of first use in order to get the most out of it in terms of performance, safety and comfort. The sole has in fact been designed with a special multidirectional tread pattern that can be customised through a very simple operation of “cutting” the individual blocks to adapt them to the real needs of the individual runner. The sole is made through the fusion of fibres and rubber in a hot compression process that gives the sole strength and stability, while providing maximum flexibility and lightness. In addition, at the end of its life, the shoe can be easily disassembled into its components, which can then be disposed of at the respective recycling facilities, while some components of the shoe can be replaced to further extend its life.

Speedland, forte di due decenni di esperienze nella progettazione di prodotti e nei ruoli di team leader dei più importanti brand di calzature al mondo, ha voluto creare una calzatura da trail running assolutamente unica e innovativa e per farlo ha chiesto la collaborazione di una realtà leader nella progettazione di suole ad alte performance come solesbyMICHELIN. Insieme hanno così dato vita a SL:PDX, una scarpa completamente personalizzabile, a partire dalla suola, e caratterizzata dalla presenza di una piastra in fibra di carbonio facilmente rimovibile. La suola sviluppata in esclusiva da solesbyMICHELIN utilizza per la prima volta la cuttable blocks technology, che permette al runner di customizzare la suola al momento del primo utilizzo così da ottenere il massimo in termini di performance, sicurezza e comfort. La suola è stata, infatti, studiata con una speciale tassellatura multidirezionale che può essere personalizzata attraverso una semplicissima operazione di “taglio” dei singoli tasselli, per adattarli alle reali esigenze del singolo runner. La suola viene realizzata attraverso la fusione di fibre e gomma in un processo di compressione a caldo che conferisce robustezza e stabilità, pur garantendo la massima flessibilità e leggerezza. Inoltre, alla fine della sua vita, la scarpa può essere facilmente smontata nelle sue componenti, che potranno essere smaltite nei rispettivi impianti di riciclaggio, mentre alcuni componenti della scarpa possono essere sostituiti per prolungarne ulteriormente la durata.

30th SHOES & LEATHER GUANGZHOU POSITIVE RESULTS FOR THE SHOE AND LEATHER INDUSTRY INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION IN GUANGZHOU, NOW IN ITS 30TH EDITION, WHICH WAS HELD FROM 31 MAY TO 3 JUNE 2021 AT THE CHINA IMPORT AND EXPORT FAIR COMPLEX. Now, more than ever before, during what is an extremely delicate time for the leather industry on a global level, the SHOES & LEATHER – GUANGZHOU exhibition, organised by TOP REPUTE CO. LTD., has once again confirmed itself as one of the leading platforms for the shoe and leather market, characterised by innovation and the search for new business opportunities. The event in fact once again proved itself capable of attracting the most important Asian and international businesses specialised in shoemaking machinery, tanning and leather machinery, footwear materials, chemical products, accessories and components, leather goods machinery, synthetic materials and knitwear machinery, sewing machinery, 3D printing, and automation technologies. The exhibition dates were adjusted to meet the needs of exhibitors and visitors, with the Material Hall, representing the space dedicated to materials for footwear and leather products, welcoming visitors from 31 May to 2 June, while the Machinery Hall remained open until 3 June. Despite the difficulties created by the pandemic, the event, in any case, knew how to attract the most important companies and international buyers. At the same time, to better meet the needs of foreign operators unable to participate in-person at the event, the organisers decided to launch a brand new virtual platform - SHOW ON RUN (showonrun. shoeleather-guangzhou.com), aimed at favouring contact between exhibitors and buyers throughout the arc of the year. SHOW ON RUN accordingly hosted almost 350 exhibitors, who presented over 1000 new products, including shoe machinery/ tanning machinery/footwear materials/leather goods/chemicals/accessories and components.

Other important initiatives enriching the SHOES & LEATHER proposal included Design Walk, the non-profit and non-commercial platform sponsored by numerous renowned shoe manufacturers, federations, and footwear academies and associations, created with the aim of giving greater visibility to fashion footwear, leather products and accessories. Extremely popular among operators was also the Designer Corner, the platform dedicated to the most promising fashion design students and their creations in terms of bags, footwear, and accessories, which at this edition was enriched by a seminar on artisanal embroidery. Last, but not least, and not to be forgotten, was Footwear Discovery, which invited various footwear associations present at the fair to exchange market and trend information with visitors. Instead, the online Seminar was dedicated to the extremely relevant theme of “Marketing strategies and sustainable development for the footwear manufacturing industry during the COVID-19 period”.

The next rendezvous with SHOES & LEATHER is in 2022, with the 31st edition scheduled from 30 May to 2 June.

Più che mai in un momento così delicato per il settore pelle a livello globale, la fiera SHOES & LEATHER – GUANGZHOU, organizzata da TOP REPUTE CO. LTD., si è confermata una volta di più come una delle piattaforme leader per il mercato delle calzature e della pelle, improntata all’innovazione e alla ricerca di opportunità di business. La manifestazione ha, infatti, saputo attrarre ancora una volta le più importanti aziende asiatiche e internazionali che si occupano di macchinari per calzature, macchinari per conceria, pelle e cuoio, materiali per calzature, prodotti chimici, accessori e componenti, macchinari per pelletteria, materiali sintetici e macchine per maglieria, macchine per cucire, stampa 3D e tecnologie di automazione. Le date espositive sono state diverse a seconda delle esigenze di espositori e visitatori, con la Material Hall, cioè lo spazio dedicato ai materiali per calzature e prodotti in pelle, che ha impegnato le aziende dal 31 maggio al 2 giugno, mentre la Machinery Hall è rimasta aperta fino al 3 giugno. Nonostante le difficoltà create dalla pandemia, la manifestazione ha comunque saputo attrarre le più importanti aziende e compratori internazionali, ma per venire incontro al meglio agli operatori esteri, impossibilitati a prendere parte in presenza alla manifestazione, gli organizzatori hanno voluto lanciare una nuovissima piattaforma virtuale - la SHOW ON RUN (showonrun.shoeleather-guangzhou.com), volta a favorire i contatti tra espositori e buyer durante tutto l’arco dell’anno. SHOW ON RUN ha visto così coinvolti quasi 350 espositori, che hanno presentato oltre 1000 nuovi prodotti, tra macchine per calzature/macchine per conceria/materiale per calzature/pelletteria/chimica/accessori e componenti.

Altre importanti iniziative che hanno arricchito la proposta di SHOES & LEATHER sono state la Design Walk, la piattaforma senza scopo di lucro e non commerciale sponsorizzata da numerosi rinomati produttori di scarpe, federazioni, accademie e associazioni di calzature, nata con l’obiettivo di dare visibilità alle calzature, prodotti in pelle e accessori più alla moda. Di grande attrattiva per gli operatori anche la Designer Corner, la piattaforma dedicata ai più promettenti studenti di design della moda e alle loro creazioni in fatto di borse, calzature e accessori, che in questa edizione è stata anche arricchita da un seminario sul ricamo artigianale. Italian digital exports up +37% in 2020

Founded by the Bonetto brothers in 1971 in the Asolo-Montebelluna district, the story of Bonis is characterised by 50 years of passion and successes in the sector of Private Labels and Licenses. Already in the Seventies, it had conquered the European market with its fashionable after-ski products, and then in the 80’s it founded the BIT brand of casual and sports footwear.

In the 90’s it acquired the U.S. Polo Assn license, and today, it is intent on reinforcing its leadership in the production of high-end fashion sneakers, which includes important collaborations with brands like Rihanna and Puma. The key to its success? Focus on quality and service, and the sustainability of its proposals.

The demand for a more eco-friendly packaging by the fashion industry grows. This is confirmed by a survey conducted by Global Data: the aim of a growing number of big names in the fashion system – from the leading company VF Corporation that includes brands like The North Face, Timberland and Vans with its 2025 green packaging initiative, up to the pilot projects of retailers like H&M and Mango – is to contrast the devastating effect that disposable plastic or paper packaging has on the environment. A crisis exacerbated by the unstoppable hunger for fast fashion and the boom in online shopping seen in the months of the pandemic, whose impact we want to mitigate by also looking at this part of the supply chain, for the good of the planet.

Italian e-commerce ends 2020 with a growth in exports equal to +37%. This is confirmed by the study conducted by Qaplà, from which emerges a +64% increase in shipments to the USA, +57% to the UK despite the new tariff regime resulting from Brexit, +50% to Germany.

The sectors with the best performance were electronics (+200%), jewellery (+77.9%), and fashion (+50%). Digital exports, estimated at a value of 11.8 billion euros in 2019, were key in contributing to the growth of many small and medium-sized Italian companies, reinforcing their online presence during the months of pandemic and increasing sales not only in Italy, but also abroad.

Simac Tanning Tech 2021 kicks off ASSOMAC TALKS NOT TO BE MISSED

Everything is ready for Simac Tanning Tech, the international event for machines and technologies for the footwear, leather goods and tanning industries, which will be held at MilanoRho Fiera from 22 to 24 September 2021, as always alongside Lineapelle. In spite of the uncertainties related to the persistence of the health emergency and its possible impact on international turnout, over 200 exhibitors have chosen to be present and to bring their latest innovations to a total exhibition area of about 9,000 square metres. A certainly smaller fair compared to the 2020 edition, but no less important thanks to the presence of the major companies in the sector, all united by the desire to return to meet customers physically again and to give a signal of momentum and restart to the entire industry. The industry of leather processing machines, in particular, has given positive signals in the last six months with the resumption of orders by tanneries restarting the mechanical production.

As for the contents of the fair announced by Maria Vittoria Brustia, president of Assomac, this Simac Tanning Tech “will be a trade fair that looks to the future, both in terms of themes and new tools: the increasingly central trend of sustainability is closely linked to Industry 4.0 technologies. A winning combination that will be found in all exhibitors’ solutions, in a fair that will offer tools for production processes where high-level digital collaboration and environmental impact containment will be protagonists”.

In addition to the technologies on display, Assomac Talks, three digital round tables (the appointment is set for 12:00 p.m. every day at the Pav. 18) will also contribute to enhance the event with contents, during which experts from the fashion industry will talk about the next frontiers of innovation and technology transfer. The main Technological and Research Centres of the sector were called to animate the ‘chats’ in the name of technological innovation, among others SATRA (United Kingdom), CIATEC (Mexico), INESCOP (Spain), CTCP (Portugal), LEFASO (Vietnam) and IPFTC (Pakistan).

The first round table is dedicated to the theme “Fashion & Technology”. The discussion will be about the integration between product innovation and technological innovation and how technology is expanding the possibilities of creatives, supporting them with new solutions.

The second one is related to “Sustainability & Measuring” and will see the participation, among others, of experts from CIMAC, Italian Centre for Footwear Application Materials (Italy), CLIA, China Leather Industry Association (China) and ICEC, Institute of Quality Certification for the Leather Sector (Italy). The choice of the topic starts from the awareness of the need to find and adopt sustainability measurement processes that are objective and internationally recognised: establishing the sustainability level allows you to recognise sustainability not as a point of arrival but as a progressive process on both sides (companies and consumers).

The third round table is entitled “ITA Service Technology Centre Ecosystem” and is about promoting the sector, the role of the ITA/ICE Agency and the alternative business model capable of creating long-term relationships initiated by Assomac in many developing countries, a model that rests on the support of the Technology Centres that become cooperation hubs between Italian companies and local producers.

Simac Tanning Tech 2021 al via DA NON PERDERE GLI APPROFONDIMENTI DI ASSOMAC TALKS Tutto pronto per Simac Tanning Tech, il salone internazionale delle macchine e delle tecnologie per le industrie calzaturiera, pellettiera e conciaria, che si terrà a FieraMilano Rho dal 22 al 24 settembre 2021 come sempre a fianco di Lineapelle.

A dispetto delle incertezze legate al perdurare dell’emergenza sanitaria e del suo possibile impatto sull’affluenza internazionale, sono oltre 200 gli espositori che hanno scelto di essere presenti e di portare le loro ultime innovazioni su un’area espositiva complessiva di 9.000 metri quadri.

Una fiera dalle dimensioni più contenute rispetto all’edizione 2020, certamente, ma non per questo meno importante grazie alla presenza delle maggiori aziende del settore, tutte unite dalla volontà di tornare ad incontrare la clientela in presenza e di dare un segnale di slancio e ripartenza all’intero settore.

Settore, quello delle macchine per la lavorazione delle pelli in particolare, che negli ultimi sei mesi ha registrato segnali positivi con la ripresa degli ordinativi da parte delle concerie che ha rimesso in moto la produzione meccanica.

Quanto ai contenuti della fiera, come annunciato dalla presidente di Assomac Maria Vittoria Brustia, questo Simac Tanning Tech “sarà una manifestazione fieristica che guarda al futuro, sia per tematiche che per nuovi strumenti: il trend sempre più centrale della sostenibilità, legato a doppio filo alla tecnologia Industry 4.0.

Un connubio vincente che si ritroverà in tutte le soluzioni degli espositori, in una fiera che offrirà strumenti per processi produttivi dove saranno protagonisti la collaborazione digitale di alto livello e il contenimento dell’impatto ambientale”.

Here is the new SIGNUM 20 STEMMA HAS DEVELOPED AN INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY TO PRODUCE POLYURETHANE BOOTS Lighter and more comfortable than PVC boots, less expensive than rubber boots and more versatile than EVA products, polyurethane boots are becoming more and more popular in the safety and outdoor market.

The traditional injection technology, which is at the base of almost all the worldwide production of polyurethane boots, runs up against some limits of this process, among which the main one is certainly the limited productivity.

The “RPU Spray Technology” and revolutionary mould-holder system has enabled Stemma to develop an innovative process, now available in the new “SIGNUM 20” machine for polyurethane boots. This valuable tool allows to overcome these limits and to start a real revolution in the market.

With an effective cycle time of less than 30 seconds and which is not bound to the use of polyurethanes with long extraction times, it guarantees an increase in productivity of about 30% compared to the traditional process.

Moreover, an open-mould process makes it possible to create extremely light products with particularly thin thicknesses, representing an effective innovation that improves the production and characteristics of the boot.

The uniform distribution of colour and the possibility to use a wide range of linings are other characterising aspects of this new machine, now available on the market.

My father founded it in 1958 and since then, every day, we have been doing what we know best for customers all over the world: designing, innovating, improving.

These are moulds intended for footwear manufacturers producing multicolored soles. Their features are: flexibility, abrasion resistance and lightness. · Injection moulds for footwear with PU-RUBBER shafts designed for the safety boot manufacturers of the food sector. · Moulds for PU and PU-PU footwear worn for leisure and outdoor life.

L’azienda è stata fondata da mio padre nel 1958 e da allora facciamo, ogni giorno, per clienti di tutto il mondo, ciò che meglio sappiamo fare: ideare, innovare, mi-

gliorare. Il nostro lavoro è sempre stato “dietro le quinte”: inizia e finisce quando una scarpa non è ancora scarpa. Ethiopia awaits chemists and tanners IULTCS CONGRESS AND WLC WILL GO HYBRID The next two major international leather and tanning chemistry events are upcoming: the 5th World Leather Congress and the XXXVI IULTCS Congress, both scheduled in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the beginning of next November. As already mentioned, the events will go hybrid, i.e. they will both be held physically and in digital mode in order to maximise participation. The event will start with the World Leather Congress scheduled for 1st November entitled: “Leather a gift of nature” and will continue from 3 to 5 November with the Leather Chemists Congress which will develop the theme “Greening the Leather Value Chain” or how to make the leather supply chain greener. Both will take place at the Skylight Hotel, a luxury hotel located near the airport, equipped with adequate infrastructure and internet access. “The preparations for the IULTCS Congress are at an advanced stage - explains Prof. Mekonnen Hailemariam of ALLPI, the African intergovernmental leather products institute responsible for the organisation - We are working to be able to organise a high-level event and we are expecting a physical or virtual participation of 300/400 delegates”.

Dr. Luis Zugno, IULTCS president, reiterates the importance of participating in the Addis Ababa event which, even if different from previous Congresses, will still be an important moment for the whole sector. “There is a strong desire to restart and see each other again in one way or another. The leather industry is facing many challenges that need to be discussed”.

Dr. Christine Lascombe, member of IULTCS’ communication commission, suggests to start registering for the virtual event and change the registration form afterwards into the physical participation, if the health situation allows it. To overcome the time zone problems, Congress papers will also be downloadable for congress delegates via the virtual platform.

Come già anticipato, gli eventi si svolgeranno in formula ibrida, ovvero saranno sia in presenza che in modalità digitale in modo da massimizzare la partecipazione. Si comincerà con il Congresso mondiale dei conciatori programmato il 1° novembre con il titolo: “Leather a gift of nature” e si proseguirà dal 3 al 5 con il Congresso dei chimici del cuoio che svilupperà il tema “Greener the Leather Value Chain” ovvero come rendere più verde la catena di fornitura della pelle. Lineapelle is about to come back, physically, to Fieramilano Rho, on 22-24 September 2021, to collect exhibitors’ rising interest and implement several projects aiming to make its own fair experience more and more up to date and engaging. “Players keep telling us they have been missing Lineapelle – commented President Gianni Russo – as our fair is of essential importance as a tool to develop research for materials directed at fashion, design and automotive manufacturing industry”. People want to discover and personally touch such materials, not just looking at the present, but also heading to the next future, the one regarding, from a style point of view, Fall-Winter 2022-2023. A season which primarily needs to “find the wonder again”.

“For the time being, 600 exhibitors, coming from 18 different countries, have already signed up for the fair – pointed out the organisers –. We deem it as an important and extremely comforting message”, and, at the same time, a real incentive to design and carry out a challenging exhibition project, considering the pandemic situation and its highly upsetting effects on traditional trade show standards. “Like we did in September 2020, we decided to opt for a rather simplified formula while setting up exhibiting stands together alongside specific solutions to ensure top safety measures.

Unavoidably, several foreign visitors, in particular the ones coming from Asia, will not be attending the fair. Nonetheless, we have been constantly in close touch with them by implementing an ongoing number of online activities”. Digital journeys, however, keep being complementary to LINEAPELLE’s physical supply, while looking ahead and consistently developing its peculiar identity as a global benchmark event for the fashion & luxury industry. Lineapelle will also take on a style challenge. It is about style trends for winter 2022-2023, which they are going to face according to a real manifesto, recapped in a slogan, namely “Imagination & Re-Wonder”. It is time, then, to “find the wonder again, therefore unleashing imagination and experimentation”.

Next Lineapelle edition will also rely on a valuable synergy with Assopellettieri: they are going to launch the debut of a new exhibiting format, namely Mipel Lab, the leather sourcing fair, which will be running simultaneously, inside and in partnership with Lineapelle.

Riguarda i trend per la stagione invernale 2022-2023 che affronta alla luce di un vero e proprio manifesto programmatico sintetizzato dallo slogan “Imagination & Re-Wonder”. Leather ready to restart THE FOOTWEAR SECTOR STILL SUFFERS WHILE THE FURNITURE INDUSTRY SHOWS SIGNS OF RECOVERY After the sharp decline in 2020 (production -23%, exports -25%), also the first quarter of 2021 was characterised by a negative trend for the Italian tanning sector. In fact, Lineapelle’s latest economic note shows -8% for medium-large bovine leathers, -7% for calves and -20% for sheep and goats. Analysing data by destination, there are different emerging trends among the various segments and in particular you can observe a positive figure for upholstery leathers, thanks to the increased demand for home furnishings already registered after the first lockdown.

The footwear sector is the one that suffers the most, which still represents the first destination of use of the Italian tannery (-20.7% in 2020), while leather goods show resistance only at the level of major brands. The downturn also affects car interiors, for which a 10-15% decline is estimated due to the specific dynamics of the sector.

La pelle pronta a ripartire LA CALZATURA SOFFRE ANCORA MENTRE L’ARREDO DÀ SEGNI DI RIPRESA Dopo la forte flessione del 2020 (produzione -23%, export -25%), anche il primo trimestre 2021 è stato caratterizzato da un trend negativo per la concia italiana. L’ultima nota congiunturale di Lineapelle evidenzia infatti un -8% per le pelli bovine medio-grandi, -7% per i vitelli e -20% per le ovicaprine. Analizzando i risultati per destinazioni d’uso, emergono andamenti differenziati fra i vari segmenti e in particolare spicca il dato positivo delle pelli per arredamento, grazie alla rafforzata domanda di mobili per la casa registrata subito dopo la fine del primo lockdown. Il settore che soffre maggiormente è quello della calzatura che rappresenta tuttora la prima destinazione d’uso della pelle conciata italiana (-20,7% nel 2020), mentre la pelletteria mostra una tenuta solo a livello di grandi marchi. La flessione riguarda anche gli interni d’auto per i quali si stima un calo del 10-15% legato alle dinamiche specifiche del settore. In questo quadro stupisce gli operatori il costante aumento dei prezzi delle pelli grezze, che trova spiegazione nella diminuzione delle macellazioni e nel generale aumento dei prezzi delle materie prime, ma che rappresenta un ulteriore ostacolo alla ripartenza.

La fiera delle pelli italiana sarà dunque l’occasione per tastare il polso ad un mercato denso di incertezze. A Fieramilano Rho è tutto pronto per ospitare Lineapelle - A new point of view dal 22 al 24 settembre. Un’edizione dedicata alla presentazione dei materiali della stagione Autunno-Inverno 22-23 destinati all’industria manifatturiera della moda, del design, dell’automotive.

Come già a settembre 2020, anche per questa edizione si è adottata una formula semplificata, con stand unificati e soluzioni che garantiscono la massima sicurezza.

SIRE-TEX thinks green THE SIRETESSILE DIVISION DEDICATED TO TECHNICAL FABRICS HAS EXPANDED ITS RANGE WITH NEW SUSTAINABLE AND ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIALS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF TECHNICAL, URBAN AND SPORTS FOOTWEAR AND CLOTHING Siretessile’s commitment to the environment and recycled materials has led it to obtain the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), the international certification for those who make clothing and textile products with recycled materials. The company is constantly working to expand its certified products by focusing on innovation, research and sustainability.

The green and recycled products include a series of products designed to create an all-round footwear that can meet the different needs of the market, for example, the two new waterproof and breathable membranes: Circle Membrane and Gea Bio membrane. The first is a product made with polyester recovered from industrial processes.

The membrane here is proposed with the Berry cloth, a classic of the fabric collection made with recycled polyester. The second is an innovative membrane made with inedible waste from the castor plant, which is extremely resistant and lighter than synthetic materials. Perfect to make trekking shoes coupled with the new Land lining made of recycled polyester and organic additives, it allows the regeneration of the material.

Leading products of the company for many years are wool and fur, both natural and synthetic, designed to make the linings of winter footwear or other inserts. Sire-Tex also wanted to give a “green” identity to this important sector by using natural recovered fibres and recycled polyester fibres and by starting the procedures to obtain the GRS certification also in this sector.

Among the new products also stands out Green Felt, a thermoformable felt made of polylactic acid (PLA) derived from plant sugars, ideal for making insoles or linings for footwear. This material has a low environmental impact and is made with a renewable raw material. It is resistant and elastic, with high absorption capacity.

Another product is Nature Bio rubber, made with polyurethane foam and a part of material derived from soy, a good compromise for making shoe padding while protecting the environment. This material can be made adhesive with paper or polyester film to facilitate the production of footwear.

Un prodotto di punta dell’azienda da molti anni sono le lane e le pellicce, sia naturali che sintetiche, pensate per realizzare le fodere delle calzature invernali o altri inserti. Anche in questo importante settore Sire-Tex ha voluto dare una svolta green impiegando fibre naturali di recupero e fibre in poliestere riciclato e avviando le procedure per ottenere anche in questo settore la certificazione GRS. Tra le novità spicca inoltre Green Felt, un feltro termoformabile realizzato in PLA- acido polilattico derivato dagli zuccheri delle piante, ideale per realizzare sottopiedi o fodere per calzatura. Questo materiale ha un basso impatto ambientale ed è realizzato con una materia prima rinnovabile, è resistente ed elastico, con alte capacità di assorbimento.

Un altro prodotto è la gomma Nature Bio, realizzata con poliuretano espanso e una parte di materiale derivato dalla soia, un buon compromesso per realizzare le imbottiture della scarpa ma con un’attenzione speciale all’ambiente. The relaunch of Schmid THE DIFFICULTIES LINKED TO THE PANDEMIC DID NOT WEAKEN THE ITALIAN COMPANY’S DESIRE TO EXCEL, WHICH IS RESTARTING FROM HUGE FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS AND AMBITIOUS EXPANSION PROJECTS BOTH IN EXPORT MARKETS AND IN THE PRODUCT CATALOGUE. Within the fashion system, Schmid never aimed to be a simple supplier, but an indispensable partner to guarantee its customers, collection after collection and season after season, that quality and innovation that, combined with a personalised service, only made in Italy knows how to ensure.

Who knows if Walter Schmid, when he founded the homonymous company in 1942, imagined that even after 80 years he would remain a leader in the supply of fabrics and materials designed and manufactured for the footwear and leather goods sector?

Today the company, headquartered in S. Giuliano Milanese (Milan), is wholly owned by three private shareholders who, thanks to their professional features, guarantee an even balance between managerial skills and entrepreneurial spirit. We met the 3 partners who control Schmid S.p.A. to tell us about the relaunch of a company that represents one of the best excellences of the Italian and international supply chain.

The word goes to Cav. Lav. Mario Boselli, lawyer Giorgio Iacobone and general manager Valerio Baiardo.

All entrepreneurs are on the defensive right now. You, instead, moved onto the offensive. What made you act this way?

“We found ourselves at the beginning of a pandemic in 2020 and after a critical couple of years we had to decide which path to follow.

Knowing the potential of the company and the incredible level of professionalism that characterises people who work at Schmid, we did not hesitate for a single moment, believing that, both in moral and general terms, we should do everything possible to ensure a future to the company, even different from the recent past that we had experienced.

The first step was to secure the company financially. On two occasions, we thus infused a significant capital increase (from 50,000 euro to 1,200,000 euro). Having absorbed the large debt that weighed on the shoulders of the company, we were also able to inject fresh resources thanks to the further contribution of a financial institution that believed in Schmid, in its tradition, in its staff and in the new corporate structure.

To provide the company with a new organisational structure that would allow it to change pace, we sought and found a person like Valerio Baiardo, with a long and consolidated commercial experience in the sector, who could take over the reins of the work group (Baiardo among other things, joined Schmid as third shareholder, ed). The intent was to reform the corporate spirit, previously entrusted to a more administrative figure, to better focus on commercial strategies and objectives.

The company is now definitely safe and ready to look to the future with optimism”.

Having settled the past, what do you expect from the future?

“We have drawn up a serious and potential three-year work plan, because we firmly believe in the people who work at Schmid's and, given the first results, I would say that we can only expect excellent and positive surprises.

We believe that the virtuous subcontracting chain of the great luxury brands is unique in Italy. Our country boasts a leadership in this respect also compared to other renowned realities. It is no coincidence that we are subcontractors of the most important French luxury brands. We actually are the factory of the high-end world, just as much as China is the factory of the world of commodities.

Schmid is nothing more than one of the most brilliant examples in this respect, one of those companies that can define themselves as direct and indirect exporters. Direct because we export to customers across Europe, and indirect given our position as suppliers of brands that place 70, 80 and even 90% of their production abroad.

Such a context, which benefits from the excellent international reputation of the most important fashion brands, can only make us optimistic about Schmid’s prospects for growth”.

What are your strategies to refresh Schmid’s market presence?

“One of the first moves was bringing back an important product man like Silvio La Cava to Schmid, who allowed us to refresh the collections and rediscover that innovative inspiration for which Schmid has always been famous.

Having found the balance between the company’s reputation and the actual product proposal, results were immediately visible: despite the pandemic, in the first 4 months of this year we registered significant order increases in terms of footage (almost 50% more), also improving the turnover performance compared to 2020. Bed bases, satins, technical materials and those with sustainable features are among the most requested products. The second strategic step was to equip ourselves with a wider range of products, including technical references in the catalogue such as, for example, a new range of reinforcing sheets and other basic products that do not suffer from the ups and downs related to fashion trends.

All’interno del sistema moda Schmid non ha mai puntato a essere un semplice fornitore, bensì un partner indispensabile per garantire ai propri clienti, collezione dopo collezione e stagione dopo stagione, quella qualità e innovazione che, abbinate a un servizio personalizzato, solo il made in Italy sa assicurare.

Chissà se Walter Schmid, quando fondò l’omonima azienda nel 1942, immaginava che ancora dopo 80 anni sarebbe rimasta leader nella fornitura di tessuti e materiali studiati e realizzati per il settore calzaturiero e della pelletteria?

Oggi la società, con sede a S. Giuliano Milanese (Milano), è interamente posseduta da tre azionisti privati che per le loro caratteristiche professionali garantiscono un equilibrato bilanciamento tra managerialità e spirito imprenditoriale. Abbiamo incontrato i 3 soci che controllano la Schmid S.p.A. per farci raccontare il rilancio di un’azienda che rappresenta una delle migliori eccellenze della catena di fornitura italiana e internazionale. La parola al Cav. Lav. Mario Boselli, all’avvocato Giorgio Iacobone e al direttore generale Valerio Baiardo.

In questo momento ogni imprenditore è sulla difensiva, voi invece siete passati all’attacco. Cosa vi ha spinti?

“Ci siamo ritrovati nel 2020, agli inizi di una pandemia e dopo un paio d’anni critici, a dover decidere che strada percorrere.

Conoscendo le potenzialità della società e l’incredibile livello di professionalità delle persone che lavorano in Schmid, non abbiamo esitato un solo istante, convinti che, sia sotto il profilo morale come sotto quello più generale, avremmo dovuto fare tutto il possibile per assicurare all'azienda un futuro, anche diverso rispetto al recente passato che avevamo un poco subito.

Il primo passo è stato mettere in sicurezza finanziaria l’azienda. Abbiamo così infuso, in due riprese, un notevole aumento di capitale (da 50 mila euro lo abbiamo portato a 1 milione e 200 mila euro). Assorbito il grosso debito che gravava sulle spalle della società, siamo anche riusciti a immettere risorse fresche grazie all’ulteriore contributo di un istituto finanziario che ha creduto in Schmid, nella sua tradizione, nel suo personale e nel nuovo assetto societario.

Per dotare l’azienda di una nuova struttura organizzativa che le consentisse di cambiare passo, abbiamo cercato e trovato una persona, come Valerio Baiardo, dalla lunga e consolidata esperienza commerciale nel settore, che potesse prendere in mano le redini del gruppo di lavoro (Baiardo è fra l’altro entrato in Schmid in qualità di terzo socio, n.d.r.). L’intento era quello di riformare lo spirito aziendale, in precedenza affidato a una figura maggiormente amministrativa, per focalizzare meglio strategie e obbiettivi commerciali. Ora la società è decisamente in sicurezza e pronta a guardare al futuro con ottimismo”.

Sistemato il passato, cosa vi attendete dal futuro?

“Abbiamo redatto un piano di lavoro a 3 anni, serio e prudenziale, perché crediamo fermamente nelle persone che lavorano in Schmid e, visti i primi risultati, direi che non ci possiamo che aspettare ottime e positive sorprese.

Siamo convinti che la virtuosità della filiera di subfornitura dei grandi brand del

lusso sia unica in Italia. Il nostro Paese vanta una leadership in tal senso anche rispetto ad altre realtà, pur blasonate. Non a caso siamo subfornitori dei più importanti marchi del lusso francese. Siamo a tutti gli effetti la fabbrica del mondo dell'alto di gamma, tanto quanto la Cina è la fabbrica del mondo delle commodity.

La Schmid non è altro che uno degli esempi più brillanti in tal senso, di quelle società che possono definirsi esportatori diretti e indiretti. Diretti perché esportiamo verso clienti in tutta Europa, ma anche indiretti vista la nostra posizione di fornitori di marchi che piazzano all'estero il 70, l’80, finanche il 90% della loro produzione.

Un tale contesto, che beneficia dell'ottima reputazione internazionale dei più importanti brand della moda, non può che farci essere ottimisti riguardo le prospettive di crescita della Schmid”.

Con quali strategie state rinfrescando la presenza di Schmid sul mercato?

“Tra le prime mosse quella di riportare in casa Schmid un uomo prodotto importante come Silvio La Cava che ci ha permesso di rinfrescare le collezioni e ritrovare quello spunto innovativo per cui la Schmid è da sempre famosa.

Ritrovato l'equilibrio fra la reputazione della società e l'effettiva proposta di prodotto, i risultati si sono subito visti: nonostante la pandemia, abbiamo registrato un aumento significativo di ordini a livello di metraggio (quasi il 50% in più) nei primi 4 mesi di quest'anno, migliorando anche le performance di fatturato rispetto al 2020. Tra i prodotti più richiesti le reti, i rasi, i materiali tecnici e quelli dalle caratteristiche sostenibili.

Il secondo passo strategico è stato dotarci di un'offerta più ampia di prodotti, mettendo a catalogo anche referenze tecniche come, ad esempio, una nuova gamma di fogli di rinforzo e altri prodotti di base che non subiscono l'andamento altalenante legato alle tendenze moda. Intrattenendo rapporti stretti con tutte le più importanti case di moda italiane e internazionali, è importante poter offrire loro la

By maintaining close relationships with all the most important Italian and international fashion houses, it is important being able to offer them our care and attention in selecting and creating quality materials not just in the field of textiles, but also in the proposal of other components consistent with our offer. Among other things, recovering an habitus already in vogue in the past: once Schmid was not just known for fabrics, but also for other product categories in the footwear and leather goods sector.

Expanding our business abroad is our last important goal. Not, however, in a sporadic and casual way, but following a precise and defined plan that leads us to open branches that act as a support point for the markets we want to enter. China, which would allow us to supply the United States in the best possible way. And the Iberian Peninsula, to support the good growth we are seeing in Spain and Portugal”.

You mentioned sustainable products in your catalogue. How are you approaching the issue?

“We look at the world of recycling and reuse. We are very careful to provide materials that are actually coherent and serious with respect to the green theme, because we absolutely do not want our commitment to sustainability to be just a marketing and facade tool. This obviously means offering products that have a slightly different performance from the traditional catalogue. Which do not hide the specific inaccuracies of recycled products and which are not yet understood and accepted by the whole market. Not to mention the costs: it is unthinkable to pay real recycled products less or like traditional ones, since the costs of these materials are higher. Just think of the certifications to be obtained, the adaptation of production processes, or the difficulty of finding the raw material”.

How do you imagine the evolution of the fashion sector in light of the events of the last two years?

“The big fashion names present on all international markets do not have and will not have major repercussions on their business. When Europe was still in a deep pandemic crisis, China had already restarted giving rise to the explosive phenomenon of revenge shopping and, therefore, providing good cash flows to the brands.

The US recovery is now joining the Chinese recovery, followed by the European one. These companies cater to a clientele that has retained its purchasing power and that has slowed down shopping only due to the lack of opportunities to use fashion products.

On the other side, small and medium-sized finished product companies, which do not have such a widespread distribution, will struggle as they are related to less growing markets. Moreover, many of the sales focused on Europe have now moved to China, due to the decline in tourism. A trend from which there is probably no coming back given the recent policies implemented by Asian countries. This will entail suffering for the Italian mono and multi-brand retail. The mid-range will undoubtedly be more penalised also due to the transformation of the company’s pyramidal structure, now transformed into an hourglass due to the impoverishment of middle class consumers.

As far as supply is concerned, there are several challenges to be faced.

The cost increase of raw materials, due to their difficult supplying and the surge in transport costs. Another criticality is represented by the companies that start again in a much more fragmented way compared to the past.

This implies, on our part, the need to be increasingly more flexible and reactive in order to better accompany the recovery”.

Recuperando fra l'altro un'abitus già in auge in passato: un tempo Schmid era conosciuta non solo per i tessuti, ma anche per altre categorie di prodotto destinate a calzatura e pelletteria.

L'ultimo obbiettivo importante è quello di espanderci all'estero. Non, però, in modo sporadico e casuale, ma seguendo un piano preciso e definito che ci porti ad aprire filiali che fungano da punto di appoggio per i mercati che vogliamo penetrare. La Cina, che ci consentirebbe di rifornire al meglio anche gli Stati Uniti.

Avete accennato a prodotti sostenibili presenti nel vostro catalogo. Come state affrontando la tematica?

“Guardiamo al mondo del riciclo e del riuso. Siamo molto attenti a fornire materiali che siano effettivamente coerenti e seri rispetto al tema green, perché non vogliamo assolutamente che il nostro impegno per la sostenibilità risulti solo uno strumento di marketing e di facciata. Ciò significa, ovviamente, offrire prodotti che presentano prestazioni un po' diverse dal catalogo tradizionale. Che non nascondono le imprecisioni peculiari dei prodotti riciclati e che non tutto il mercato è ancora disponibile a capire e ad accettare. Per non parlare dei costi: non è possibile pensare di pagare il vero riciclato meno o al pari di un prodotto tradizionale, poiché i costi di tali materiali sono superiori. Si pensi solo alle certificazioni da dover ottenere, all'adattamento dei processi produttivi, o alla difficoltà di reperire la materia prima”.

Come immaginate l’evoluzione del settore moda alla luce degli avvenimenti dell’ultimo biennio?

“I grandi nomi della moda presenti su tutti i mercati internazionali non hanno e non avranno grosse ripercussioni sui loro affari. Quando ancora l'Europa versava in profonda crisi pandemica, la Cina era già ripartita dando adito all'esplosivo fenomeno del revenge shopping e, quindi, fornendo buoni flussi di cassa alle griffe.

Alla ripresa cinese ora si sta accodando quella statunitense a cui seguirà anche quella europea. Sono aziende che si rivolgono a una clientela che ha conservato il suo potere d'acquisto e che ha rallentato lo shopping solo a causa della mancanza delle occasioni d'uso dei prodotti moda. D’altro canto, le aziende medio-piccole di prodotto finito, che non possiedono una distribuzione così capillare, faranno molta fatica in quanto legate a mercati che crescono e cresceranno meno. A ciò si aggiunga che molte delle vendite finalizzate in Europa si sono ora spostate in Cina, a causa del calo del turismo. Un trend da cui è probabile non si torni indietro viste le recenti politiche attuate dai paesi asiatici. Ciò comporterà sofferenza per il retail mono e multi-marca italiano.

Senza dubbio il medio di gamma sarà maggiormente penalizzato anche in ragione della trasformazione della struttura piramidale della società ora mutatasi in clessidra a causa dell’impoverimento della classe media dei consumatori.

Per quanto riguarda la fornitura sono diverse le sfide da affrontare.

La crescita dei costi delle materie prime, dovuta al loro difficile reperimento e all’impennata delle spese di trasporto.

Altra criticità è rappresentata dalle aziende che ripartono senza più programmare come in passato, ma in maniera molto più frammentata. Il che implica, da parte nostra, la necessità di essere sempre più flessibili e reattivi per poter accompagnare al meglio la ripresa”.

FuturModa restarts from 20 to 21 October 2021 AFTER TWO CANCELLED EDITIONS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, FUTURMODA ANNOUNCES THE PHYSICAL RETURN OF THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF ACCESSORIES, COMPONENTS AND MACHINES FOR THE FOOTWEAR AND LEATHER GOODS INDUSTRIES. The last edition of the fair was held in March 2020, a few days before a state of emergency was decreed in many European countries due to the spread of Covid-19 infections.

The appointment of the Spanish event is finally back. After two cancelled editions due to the pandemic, it will be possible to participate in a new physical session of FuturModa, the international exhibition of accessories, components and machines for the footwear and leather goods industries. The next edition will take place in Alicante, at I.F.A. - Instituciòn Ferial Alicantina, from 20 to 21 October.

AEC - the Spanish reference Association of Component companies for footwear and leather goods, the organiser of FuturModa, intends to send a positive signal, by not just by reviving the national market: the fair will welcome about 300 exhibitors from Spain, Italy and Portugal which will once again have the opportunity to present their most recent collections and novelties for the autumn/winter 2022/23 season.

The integrated system is useful for the general management of the company by making use of processes studied ad hoc for the various business aspects: production quality, environmental impact, work safety, computer data protection, energy consumption, social responsibility and much more.

The Certification Moreover, certifying your management system becomes a need that arises from the awareness of always having to seek an improvement in the process management within the company. And all business processes are involved. The new management systems, in fact, also involve suppliers (in particular subcontractors, as they are more involved in the transformation processes of raw materials) and customers.

The best known standards that regulate the certifications of management systems are certainly those of the ISO 9000 series: a basic system for quality management that can be used by any type of company regardless of the size or location in the world. Among the ISO 9000 series, the most important is certainly the ISO 9001 standard.

The ISO 9001 standard “Quality management systems - Requirements” is the standard chosen by all those organisations that intend to equip themselves with a work tool aimed at continuous and constant improvement, evaluated by a body above the parties that certifies the effectiveness of the system.

To obtain a certification, it is essential to establish precise laboratory parameters and put in writing everything that can benefit areas such as quality, environment, safety or ethics. The certification of the management system corresponds to a complex set of measures aimed at guaranteeing the environment as well as the immutability of the processes that ensure the maintenance of the parameters.

The organisation that has a certified quality management system must be able to demonstrate its ability to regularly provide products or services that meet the customer’s requirements, increasing their satisfaction and aiming for a constantly improving system.

More in detail, ISO 9001 certification helps organisations to: • improve performance, • achieve better cost control, • reduce waste, • increase productivity, • increase effectiveness of internal processes, • reduce inefficiencies, • reduce risks.

The ISO 9001 model represents a strategic tool that provides a basic organisational model, which can be integrated with specific requirements of other areas such as in the case of ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 45001 (health and safety).

With regard to environmental management, we find ISO 14001: a management system that is autonomous in itself and easily integrated with ISO 9001 (given the same points of application). It should also be noted that the correct application of ISO 14001 entails large savings in the economic sphere and allows a smarter consumption management.

Implementare nella propria realtà imprenditoriale un Sistema di Gestione Integrato permette di individuare le soluzioni migliori per indirizzare gli investimenti, modificare processi o gestire le risorse umane. Il sistema integrato risulta utile alla gestione generale della società avvalendosi di processi studiati ad hoc per i diversi aspetti aziendali: la qualità della produzione, l’impatto ambientale, la sicurezza sul lavoro, la protezione dei dati informatici, il consumo di energia, la responsabilità sociale e tanto altro.

La certificazione Certificare il proprio sistema di gestione diviene, poi, una necessità che scaturisce dalla consapevolezza di dover sempre cercare un miglioramento di gestione dei processi all’interno dell’azienda. E tutti i processi aziendali ne sono coinvolti. I nuovi sistemi di gestione, infatti, coinvolgono anche fornitori (in particolare terzisti, in quanto maggiormente coinvolti nei processi di trasformazione della materia prima) e clienti.

Le più note norme che regolano le certificazioni dei sistemi gestionali sono sicuramente quelle della serie ISO 9000: un sistema di base per la gestione della qualità utilizzabile da qualsiasi tipo di azienda indipendentemente dalla dimensione o luogo del mondo. Tra le serie ISO 9000, la più importante è di certo la norma ISO 9001.

La norma ISO 9001 "Sistemi di gestione per la qualità - Requisiti" è lo standard scelto da tutte quelle organizzazioni che intendono dotarsi di uno strumento di lavoro finalizzato al miglioramento continuo e costante, valutata da un ente al di sopra delle parti che certifichi l’efficacia del sistema.

Per ottenere la certificazione è essenziale stabilire precisi parametri di laboratorio e mettere per iscritto tutto ciò che può andare a favore di ambiti quali la qualità, l’ambiente, la sicurezza o l’aspetto etico. La certificazione del sistema di gestione corrisponde a un complesso insieme di provvedimenti tesi a garantire l’ambiente oltre alla immutabilità dei processi che garantiscano il mantenimento dei parametri.

L’organizzazione che si dota di un sistema di gestione per la qualità certificato deve essere in grado di dimostrare la propria capacità di fornire con regolarità prodotti o servizi che soddisfano i requisiti del cliente, accrescendone la soddisfazione e puntando a un sistema in continuo miglioramento.

PER CHI AMA LA PRECISIONE

Da notare, inoltre, che la corretta applicazione della ISO 14001 comporta ampi risparmi in ambito economico e permette una più corretta gestione dei consumi.

Le indicazioni internazionali A questo punto vale la pena ed è importante citare il World Economic Forum che, fin dal 1973, si riunisce a Davos per discutere di futuro e della direzione delle economie mondiali. Tra gli obbiettivi individuati quello di attuare un percorso di sviluppo sostenibile attraverso nuove tecnologie e innovazioni al fine di ricreare un modello economico circolare (così come definito anche dalla Agenda 2030 dell’ONU: “Sustainable Developement Goals” del 2015).

Migliori performance Sulla base degli ultimi studi effettuati è stata evidenziata una stretta correlazione tra possesso di certificazioni ambientali e indicatori di performance, in quanto il beneficio economico è strettamente legato a una maggiore efficienza organizzativa (anche in ambito ambientale).

Attuare un sistema di gestione integrato è, in assoluto, un’ottima scelta per superare i propri limiti, migliorare i propri processi interni, e fornire ai propri clienti un servizio attento e di qualità.

Thimeco: a new plant 4.0 THE TANNERY FROM ARZIGNANO HAS MOVED AND ENLARGED ITS PRODUCTION PLANT, BY BRINGING THE DIFFERENT PHASES OF TANNING IN-HOUSE AND MAKING PRODUCTION MORE EFFICIENT WITH INTEGRATED SYSTEMS, IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE INTERNATIONAL CLIENTELE WITH CERTIFIED LEATHERS OF INCREASINGLY HIGH QUALITY A leading reality in the Arzignano tannery district founded in 1998, Thimeco is specialised in the production of leathers destined for the high-end fashion industry, including above all footwear and leather goods. Partner of the VKP LT Russian tanning group, its story is one of constant innovation and quality that has sustained its growth and positioning in different European and international markets.

To support this pathway and set itself new growth-oriented goals, Thimeco recently moved its headquarters to a new plant that extends across 3000 square metres, always in Arzignano: “We decided to move and expand our production facilities, bringing the different phases of tanning in-house like staking, fulling, and buffing previously entrusted to subcontractors, to guarantee an even greater and stricter quality control of our leathers. – explains Davide Baldo, director of Thimeco – The new production plants are a perfect example of the Industry 4.0 with integrated machines and systems that make the production phases in tanning more efficient, replying to the criteria of quality and sustainability that are a priority for our company”.

The leathers exiting the new plant in Arzignano are finished by subcontractors, carefully selected for qualification and certifications, and then return to the company for a second quality check, thus guaranteeing the tannery’s compliance with the high standards of ISO9001 (quality control) and ISO14001 (environmental management systems) certifications. “Another guarantee we offer our customers is compliance with the LWG Leather Working Group standard – continues Davide Baldo – which allows us to monitor our leathers along the entire supply chain, from the butchering to the delivery”.

The new Thimeco plant also focuses on energetic sustainability, which is entrust-

ed to renewable sources: “Currently our photovoltaic panel system partially covers our energy needs, but our goal for the future is to arrive at a 100% coverage through this source”, concludes Davide Baldo.

The new headquarters also host the Thimeco offices and a showroom where customers can see the innovative and trendy proposals of the company.

In terms of supply, Thimeco processes leathers coming from Russia, New Zealand, Eastern Europe, and South America, while in terms of distribution, its main end markets are Spain, Portugal, and Russia.

Thimeco’s goal for the future? That of continuing to supply the fashion market, while making the most of its certified and sustainable quality proposal, which will reinforce its presence on European and international markets.

Partner del gruppo conciario russo VKP LT, ha una storia di costante innovazione e qualità che ha sostenuto la sua crescita ed il posizionamento sui diversi mercati europei e internazionali.

Per assecondare questo percorso e porsi nuovi obiettivi di crescita, Thimeco ha recentemente trasferito la sua sede in un nuovo impianto che si spalma su un'area di 3000 mt quadrati, ad Arzignano: “Abbiamo deciso di trasferirci e ampliare i nostri impianti portando in house lavorazioni come la palissonatura, la stuccatura e smerigliatura che prima affidavamo a terzisti, per garantire un controllo di qualità dei nostri pellami più stringente. - spiega Davide Baldo, direttore di Thimeco – I nuovi impianti sono un perfetto esempio di Industria 4.0, con macchinari e sistemi integrati che efficientano le fasi della produzione conciaria e rispondono a quei criteri di qualità e sostenibilità che per la nostra azienda sono prioritari”.

I pellami che escono dal nuovo impianto di Arzignano vengono rifiniti presso terzisti, accuratamente selezionati per qualificazione e certificazioni, per poi ritornare in azienda per un secondo controllo di qualità, a garanzia degli alti standard certificati Iso 9001 (controllo qualità) e Iso 14001 (sistemi di gestione ambientale) della conceria. “Un'ulteriore garanzia che offriamo ai nostri clienti è l'adesione allo standard LWG Leather Working Group – prosegue Davide Baldo – che permette di monitorare i nostri pellami lungo tutta la catena di approvvigionamento, dal macello alla consegna”.

Il nuovo stabilimento di Thimeco guarda anche alla sostenibilità energetica, affidata a fonti rinnovabili: “Attualmente il nostro parco di pannelli fotovoltaici ricopre parzialmente il nostro fabbisogno energetico, ma il nostro obiettivo per il futuro è di arrivare ad una copertura del 100% tramite questa fonte” conclude Davide Baldo.

Presso la nuova sede trovano spazio sia gli uffici di Thimeco, sia uno showroom dove i clienti possono prendere visione delle proposte innovative e di tendenza dell'azienda.

Sul versante delle forniture, Thimeco lavora pellami provenienti dalla Russia, la Nuova Zelanda, i Paesi dell'Est europeo e dal Sud America, mentre su quello della distribuzione, i suoi principali mercati di sbocco sono la Spagna, il Portogallo e la Russia.

L'obiettivo per il futuro di Thimeco? Quello di continuare a rifornire il mercato della moda, facendo leva su una proposta di qualità certificata e sostenibile, per consolidare la propria presenza sui mercati europei e internazionali.
