But the two founders of the brand have known each other for 10 years, when they were both students at the fashion department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, as well as life partners.

Throughout two decades, An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx, have put all their expressive force to the test, mixing poetry with an imposing and spectacular style.

The brand effortlessly blends elements inspired by uniforms with subversive, sartorial femininity.

“We create cult classics with an extra touch, blending comfort and functionality for a new generation of urban women around the world who appreciate poetic extravagance and attention to detail”.

What is the heart of your brand?

“A collection of strong shoes accompanied by an ever-growing line of accessories featuring the brand’s iconic details.”

“Yes, but today we want to focus on footwear and accessories. That’s where our real strength lies. It is what we do best and what we love to do more than anything else.”

What inspires you?

“The aesthetic of the brand comes from our love for visual arts, music, literature and our interest in cultural archetypes and uniforms.”

“Currently, Benelux and Russia”.

Why did you participate in the last edition of White in Milano?

“Because we believe that Italy is a market with enormous potential for our brand. That’s why we decided to present our next summer collection in Milan”.

“Sì, ma oggi vogliamo focalizzarci su calzature e accessori. Lì risiede la nostra vera forza, ciò che sappiamo fare meglio e che amiamo fare più di ogni altra cosa”.

A cosa vi ispirate?

“L’estetica del marchio è il risultato del nostro amore per le arti visive, la musica, la letteratura e il nostro interesse per archetipi culturali e uniformi”.

I mercati più importanti?

“Ad oggi Benelux e Russia” Come mai avete partecipato all’ultima edizione di White a Milano?

“Perché crediamo che l’Italia sia un mercato dalle enormi potenzialità per il nostro marchio. Perciò abbiamo deciso di presentare a Milano la nostra prossima collezione estiva”.

A fashionable life In addItIon to the bags, was launched a made In Italy lIne of hIgh qualIty footwear and at affordable prIces she has always been in the fashion industry. first as a model, now as an accessory designer, both of footwear and bags, and from 2017 as co-owner and creative director of the Judith leiber brand. dee ocleppo, wife of fashion guru tommy hilfiger, has been directing for six years the brand that carries her name and that was launched with a collections of bags, to which, since september, shoes have been added.

“I have been designing bags since 2011. Initially customisable made in china models, which were sold on television on hsn channel, as well as by harrods, galeries lafayette or saks fifth avenue”. after selling the ‘bag bar’ system to Kate spade, the designer decides to launch a new line of high-end bags and shoes that carries her name, producing everything in Italy: “I was interested in building a made in Italy collection that had a fair price. that is why we decided to sell directly online and ship worldwide without additional costs. so we manage to charge a pair of shoes at the highest level a maximum of 420 dollars”. the question may seem obvious, but necessary. why Italy? she answers without thinking: “because producing in Italy means fantastic quality of materials and labour. a beautiful design made in Italy is transformed into an unforgettable object. and then I am very fond of Italy, where my children live with my ex-husband”. to explain her style, she reverses a typical anglo-saxon affirmation: “more is more.

I like to exaggerate. I find the type of model that we decide to propose (we offer many and different) not so important as the quality with which the model is made”. and while tommy hilfiger, who is always close to her, explains that among his future projects there will be something linked to the sporting world, we ask her how she lives the comparison with such a fashion icon: “I am very lucky, because I can benefit from his suggestions every day... and I do not have to pay!”. both declare to influence each other. for dee ocleppo it is very important to take inspiration from pop culture, whose insights include details such as the hot pink sole. to mention the company that produces and contributes to designing the dee ocleppo footwear: the ‘In moda’ of santhià, led by a leather expert, which is the managing director matteo armillotta who, together with his son alessandro (ceo of the company for the united states), has relied on neapolitan and campania craftsmen to make the products. the next steps of the brand aim to build a global (online and offline) distribution, which touches its main objectives: united arab emirates and china.

Una vita alla moda Lanciata, oLtre aLLe borse, una Linea di caLzature di aLta quaLità, fatte in itaLia e daL prezzo accessibiLe da sempre nella moda. prima come modella, ora come designer di accessori, sia calzature che borse, e dal 2017 come co-proprietaria e direttrice creativa del marchio Judith Leiber. da sei anni dee ocleppo, moglie del fashion guru tommy Hilfiger, dirige il marchio che porta il suo nome, nato con collezioni di borse, a cui, da settembre, si sono aggiunte le calzature. “disegno borse dal 2011. inizialmente modelli personalizzabili, realizzati in cina e venduti in televisione sul canale Hsn, così come da Harrods, Galeries Lafayette o saks fifth avenue”. dopo aver venduto il sistema ‘bag bar’ a Kate spade, la designer decide di lanciare una nuova linea di borse e scarpe di alta gamma che portasse il suo nome, producendo tutto in italia: “Mi interessava costruire una collezione Made in italy che avesse un prezzo giusto. per questo motivo abbiamo deciso di vendere direttamente online e spedire in tutto il mondo senza costi aggiuntivi. così riusciamo a far pagare 420 dollari al massimo un paio di scarpe di altissimo livello”.

La domanda può sembrare scontata, ma obbligata. come mai proprio l’italia? Lei risponde senza pensarci: “perché produrre in italia significa qualità fantastica dei materiali e della manodopera. un bel design realizzato in italia si trasforma in oggetto indimenticabile. e poi sono molto affezionata all’italia, dove vivono i miei figli, avuti con il mio ex-marito”. per spiegare il suo stile, ribalta una tipica affermazione anglosassone: “More is more.

Mi piace esagerare. trovo non sia così importante la tipologia di modello che si decide di proporre (noi ne offriamo di tantissimi e diversi), quanto la qualità con cui il modello viene realizzato”. e mentre tommy Hilfiger, che le è sempre accanto, spiega che fra i suoi prossimi progetti vi sarà qualcosa di legato al mondo sportivo, noi chiediamo a lei come viva il confronto con una tale icona della moda: “sono molto fortunata, perché posso beneficiare dei suoi suggerimenti tutti i giorni… e non devo pagare!”. entrambi dichiarano di influenzarsi a vicenda. per dee ocleppo è molto importante ispirarsi alla cultura pop, i cui spunti inserisce in dettagli come la suola rosa shocking. da menzionare l’azienda che produce e contribuisce a disegnare le calzature dee ocleppo: la ‘in Moda’ di santhià, guidata da un esperto di pelletteria qual è l’amministratore delegato Matteo armillotta che, insieme al figlio alessandro (ceo della società per gli stati uniti), si è affidato ad artigiani napoletani e campani per confezionare i prodotti. i prossimi passi del brand mirano a costruire una distribuzione globale (online e offline), che tocchi i principali obiettivi: emirati arabi e cina.

“Living Coral” è il colore che Pantone ha scelto per il 2019 e che influenzerà la moda, l’arte e il design: preparatevi a vederlo ovunque su Instagram e nelle vetrine dei negozi. È il numero 16-1546, per l’esattezza, una sfumatura vibrante e avvolgente, “socievole e vivace, in grado di incoraggiare l’attività spensierata”, spiega la stessa Pantone. Il “Living Coral” vuole essere una sorta di ‘inno alla gioia’, capace di ravvivare ogni tipo di look e dare un tocco di energia. È una gradazione dotata di un proprio carattere ma, allo stesso tempo, anche estremamente versatile, quasi neutra. Crea un dialogo d’insieme armonico: i designer, infatti, giocano con gli accostamenti con altri colori o lo rendono protagonista dei dettagli, declinanandolo in varie sfaccettature. L’effetto d’insieme è un caleidoscopio allegro, che prelude alla bella stagione e saprà accompagnarla con brio e vitalità.

SPOTLIGHT | Pantone 2019: “Living Coral”

“Living Coral” is the colour that Pantone has chosen for 2019 and that will influence fashion, art and design: get ready to see it everywhere on Instagram and in shop windows. It is number 16-1546, to be precise, a vibrant and enveloping nuance, “sociable and lively, able to encourage carefree activities,” explains Pantone itself. “Living Coral” wants to be a sort of ‘hymn to joy’, able to update every kind of look and give it a touch of dynamism. It is a gradation with its own character but, at the same time, also extremely versatile, almost neutral. It creates a harmonious dialogue with the whole outfit: designers, in fact, play with combinations with other colors or make it the protagonist of the details, declining it in different shades. The overall effect is a cheerful kaleidoscope, which is a prelude to the warm season and will accompany it with vivacity and vitality.

BALLY x SWIZZ BEATZ x SHOK-1

The best of London street art combines with sportwear and luxury in a capsule collection that unites Bally to the artist SHOK-1, and continuing the collaboration started last year with music producer Swizz Beatz. The limited edition collection was officially launched with an international event in Tokyo. On this occasion, the Shibuya area hosted the first large-scale mural by SHOK-1.

For four weeks, the last floor of the Bally flagship store in Ginza has been transformed into an art gallery with selected works which confirm the artist’s creative vision in which the old tradition of subcultures embraces seemingly incompatible brands. A capsule able to attract a modern consumer always looking for products with a unique style and capable to tell a story.

Il meglio della street art londinese si unisce allo sportwear e al lusso in una capsule collection che unisce Bally e l’artista SHOK-1, e continuando la collaborazione cominciata l’anno scorso con il produttore musicale Swizz Beatz. La collezione in edizione limitata è lanciata ufficialmente con un evento internazionale a Tokyo. In questa occasione, l’area di Shibuya ha ospitato il primo murales realizzato su larga scala da SHOK-1. Per quattro settimane, l’ultimo piano del flagship store Bally a Ginza si è trasformato in una galleria d’arte in cui sono state esposte selezionate opere dell’artista che confermano la sua visione creativa in cui l’antica tradizione delle sottoculture abbraccia brand apparentemente incompatibili.

Una capsule in grado di attrarre un consumatore moderno sempre alla ricerca di prodotti dallo stile unico, capaci di raccontare una storia.

The new collection by the young designer from Novara arises from an experience lived in the contemporary art world in the upcycled environment of the Hangar Bicocca in Milano. A heel is reminiscent of a sculpture, a simple play of lines creates a sinuous effect. The bright and bright colours - but at the same time delicate and refined - elegantly dress the Benedetta Boroli woman, mixing, intersecting and creating a new geometric dimension. The patchwork is the synthesis of precious materials that make iconic models even more superb. The introduction of a personalized lettering print is Benedetta’s signature, able to make each creation even more unique and recognizable.

Italian Artisan: let’s rock Made in Italy “I lIkE To DEFINE ITAlIAN ARTISAN NoT oNlY AS A B2B plATFoRM BUT AlSo AS AN ARTISANAl ECoSYSTEM, A CoMMUNITY ThAT WoRkS WITh ThE AIM oF BRINgINg ThE MoST IMpoRTANT MANUFACTURINg TRADITIoN WoRlDWIDE – ThAT oF MADE IN ITAlY – INTo ThE FUTURE oF CoMMERCE” In this way David Clementoni explains his “creature”, a promising start-up that is changing the way of doing business in the footwear industry. Representing the third generation of the family renowned in Italyfor its legendary brand of intelligent kids toys, the easiest road to go down would have been that of continuing along the professional pathway first commenced by his family’s business. What he did instead was altogether different.

How was Italian Artisan conceived?

“After a stay in the United States, in New York, I realised just how important Made in Italy was considered and the extra value it still represents today in manufacturing.

At the same time, I noticed some significant gaps in the rapport between brands, Italian artisanal producers and retail itself: from one end, Italian SMEs were struggling in opening themselves up to internationalisation, because of little or no digitalisation present in their organisations. From the other end, international brands and private labels (even those that are structured) did not have a great enough understanding of the territory and of the Italian productive infrastructure to diversify their production. I saw the possibility of filling these gaps in communication and relations through technology. In fact, technology allowed me to create a rapport of collaboration, trust, and transparency between the parties involved. This was the beginning of Italian Artisan in 2015”.

What exactly is Italian Artisan?

“Italian Artisan is a digital platform that brings international brands, both established and emerging, but also chain stores with their own private labels, into contact with small and medium-sized Italian artisanal businesses. The platform allows brands to enter into contact with some of the best Made in Italy footwear producers, so that they save on the costs associated with traditional purchasing processes such as flights, hotels, fairs, etc., with the added value of being able to manage each project through the platform, while also easily and quickly communicating with the producers themselves.

At the same time, Italian Artisan, through its own Academy, teaches entrepreneurs how to be competitive in the digital age and how to better serve customers, offering not only a high quality and sophisticated artisanal product, but also a service in terms of savings in time and money. Today, there are around 250 artisans and over 1000 brands and retailers, for around 3000 products”.

What kind of features must the companies involved have and what must they pay the website?

“We select the companies in accordance with our standards: they must guarantee a Made in Italy high quality production. In exchange, our partners pay a fee that is any case completely accessible, also thanks to the technology itself, which allows for a general cutback on costs”.

Italian Artisan: let’s rock made in Italy “AMo DefINIre ItALIAN ArtISAN NoN SoLo UNA PIAttAforMA b2b, MA UN eCoSISteMA DI ArtIgIANI, UNA CoMUNItà CHe oPerA CoN L’obIettIvo DI PortAre LA trADIzIoNe MANIfAttUrIerA PIù IMPortANte AL MoNDo - qUeLLA DeL MADe IN ItALY - NeL fUtUro DeL CoMMerCIo” Così David Clementoni definisce la sua ‘creatura’, una start-up promettente che sta cambiando il modo di fare business nel settore calzaturiero. Per lui, che appartiene alla terza generazione della famiglia che ha creato il noto marchio di giocattoli intelligenti, la via più facile e breve sarebbe stata quella di proseguire nell’ambito di un percorso di crescita professionale già in parte tracciato. Ma non è stato così.

Come nasce l’idea di creare Italian Artisan?

“Dopo un soggiorno negli Stati Uniti, a New York, mi sono accorto di quanto fosse considerato il Made in Italy, quale valore aggiunto avesse ancor oggi in ambito manifatturiero. Al contempo, tuttavia, ho intercettato delle grosse lacune nel rapporto tra brand, produttori artigiani italiani e lo stesso retail: da una parte, le pmi italiane avevano difficoltà ad aprirsi all’internazionalizzazione perché poco digitalizzate, dall’altra i brand internazionali e private label (anche strutturati) non avevano una conoscenza abbastanza profonda del territorio e del tessuto produttivo italiano per diversificare la loro produzione. Ho intravisto la possibilità di colmare queste lacune di comunicazione e relazione attraverso la tecnologia. La tecnologia mi ha infatti permesso di creare un rapporto di collaborazione, fiducia e trasparenza tra le parti coinvolte. Così è nata, nel 2015, Italian Artisan”.

Di che cosa si tratta?

“Italian Artisan è una piattaforma digitale che mette in connessione da una parte brand internazionali, conosciuti o emergenti, ma anche catene di negozi che si creano il loro private label e dall’altra le piccole medie imprese artigiane italiane. La piattaforma permette ai marchi di entrare in contatto con alcuni dei migliori produttori di made in italy calzaturiero, risparmiando i costi legati al processo di acquisto tradizionale come voli, hotel, fiere ecc., con il valore aggiunto di gestire ogni progetto attraverso la piattaforma, comunicando in modo facile e veloce con i produttori stessi.

Inoltre, Italian Artisan, attraverso la propria Academy, insegna agli imprenditori come essere competitivi nell’era digitale e servire al meglio il cliente, offrendo non solo un prodotto artigianale di alta qualità e ricerca, ma anche un servizio in termini di risparmio di tempi e costi. Ad oggi sono coinvolti circa 250 aziende produttrici, oltre 1000 tra brand e retailer, per circa 3000 prodotti”.

Quali requisiti devono avere le aziende coinvolte e cosa devono pagare al sito?

“Selezioniamo le aziende secondo dei nostri standard: queste devono garantire una produzione Made in Italy e di qualità. In cambio, i nostri partner pagano un fee, assolutamente accessibile, grazie alla tecnologia che permette un generale abbattimento dei costi”.

For the whole of the next autumn-winter season, the period between 2019 and 2020, the world of sneakers will keep raging undisturbed in that area of fashion that is on the border between sport and casual, performance, style and comfort.

Natural rubber produced by Gea Gomma – an absolutely sustainable and versatile material with excellent qualities – has once again stimulated the creativity of designers who this year were faced with a very particular theme: customisation of models through hand painting on the upper (very fashionable street trend).

The results achieved by the students in the ARS SHOE LAB – the laboratory inside the ARSUTORIA School where finished footwear prototypes can be created – turned out to be small works of art, capable of making the most of the soles with coloured islands proposed by Gea Gomma.

Stefano Grivel, co-owner of the Pavia-based company, awarded the young participants after showing them the many characteristics and advantages of natural rubber.

“Para rubber,” stressed Grivel, “has zero environmental impact. The natural element of vegetable origin is not transformed by a chemical process, but by a mechanical process that in addition to being environmentally friendly, also preserves the natural characteristics of the raw material. Moreover, the same processing residues are reused in the next production cycle.” The quality of the material offered by Gea Gomma is also guaranteed by the long tradition that has seen Europe’s No. 1 producer of calendered natural rubber as a protagonist since 1952.

The most interesting proposals selected by the editorial staff of the Edizioni AF magazines included those of the winner, the 1st runner up Aranda Hernandez Jose Angel A. (Mexico) and the 2nd runner up Amanda Filipi (USA), as well as those submitted by Margarita Leano Lozano (USA) and Mendez Marquez Ana Gabriela (Mexico).

La gomma naturale prodotta da Gea Gomma - materiale assolutamente sostenibile, versatile e dalle eccellenti qualità - ha stimolato ancora una volta la creatività dei designer che, per questo 2018, si sono confrontati con un tema molto particolare: la personalizzazione dei modelli attraverso la pittura a mano su tomaia (street trend molto in voga).

I risultati, realizzati dagli studenti nell’ARS SHOE LAB – il laboratorio interno ad ARSUTORIA School dove è possibile realizzare prototipi finiti di calzature – si sono rivelati delle piccole opere d’arte, capaci di valorizzare al massimo le suole a isole colorate proposte da Gea Gomma.

Stefano Grivel, co-titolare dell’azienda pavese, ha premiato i giovani partecipanti dopo aver illustrato loro le molteplici caratteristiche e i vantaggi della gomma naturale.

“La para – ha sottolineato Grivel – ha, di fatto, un impatto ambientale ad effetto zero. L’elemento naturale, di origine vegetale, non è trasformato da un processo chimico, ma solo da un processo meccanico che oltre ad essere perfettamente ecocompatibile preserva le caratteristiche naturali della materia prima. Inoltre, gli stessi residui della lavorazione vengono riutilizzati nel ciclo di produzione successivo”. La qualità del materiale proposto da Gea Gomma è garantita anche dalla lunga tradizione che vede protagonista il principale produttore in Europa di gomma naturale calandrata, fin dal 1952.

Tra le proposte più interessanti, selezionate dalla redazione delle riviste di Edizioni AF, si segnalano, oltre alla vincitrice, quelle del secondo classificato Aranda Hernandez Jose Angel A. (Messico), di Amanda Filipi (USA) che si è aggiudicata il terzo gradino del podio, e di Margarita Leano Lozano (USA) e Mendez Marquez Ana Gabriela (Messico).

Wonderful How wonderful! THis is THe feeling people geT wHen THey come across Chiara CesaraCCio’s collecTion and Her creaTions for THe firsT Time They carefully caress the shoes by chiara cesaraccio’s, as if they are savouring the beauty of a precious jewellery piece.

The young and dynamic brand founded by the florence-based designer is characterised by the strong bond with the italian handcrafted tradition and by the quality of a high fashion product designed and created entirely in the area of figline Valdarno (florence). inimitable and precious materials are linked to the goldsmith tradition: a precious symbiosis that characterises the heart and soul of the brand. a combination which leads to the creation of unique pieces, such as the atlantis collection inspired by the myth of atlantis, which represents the constant search for many “small” worlds that have disappeared, have been forgotten or have not been valued: for example, terciopelo velvet, precious 3-ply velvet woven with a flowery motif, made using a rare hand loom that still exists in italy and capable of weaving this fabric. The shape of the gold filigree buttons resembles the breasts of the mother goddess Tanit, an emblem of femininity. The ‘su kokku’ amulets in 925 silver filigree or gold are the fruit of a centuries-old tradition that encloses a heart black obsidian or pink quartz. These are all cultural legacies of the island of sardinia, considered by some as the ancient and lost atlantis.

To this world are added equally precious materials, such as real python with golden scales, 100% made in italy suede and heels covered with 24-carat gold leaf.

Why shoes? “capucci, a well-known designer used to say: “make beauty your constant ideal”.

Beauty understood as the harmony of shapes, as symmetry and proportion between the various parts of an object, and between the different aspects and elements of the same reality. Beauty is the cause and the purpose, the alpha and omega, and i find all these elements in shoes.” how was your passion born? “my father and my family have always had a passion for art and the world of museums. i grew up immersed in the art world. when i saw a call for applications at the ied, i entered and won the scholarship then decided to move from Verona to florence.”

Then what happened? “i started to work, while i was still studying, at an excellent Tuscan company that specialised in the production of cork lace, founded by lionello Villani. He put me in touch with a company in Houston, Texas, for which i made bags in leather and cork. This led to my collaboration with another italian-swiss company, which continues to this day because they sponsor my shoe collection. in march of 2016, we exhibited my first shoe collection in covent garden, london. over the years, i collaborated with gianni chiarini, the Valmoro company and with a design firm in milan that works for several brands, including Borbonese, carpisa and pininfarina.”

What is the source of your creativity?

“The experiences i collect and my identity, consisting of different worlds: in particular sardinia, a land that is very dear to me because it is where i have my origins. Here i learned about, and fell in love with, the tradition of a people, which is nothing more than the story of those people told through clothes, fabrics and jewellery. a land of colours, scents and stories that act as a true source of inspiration.”

What is the most difficult part of your job?

“The most difficult part is also the most fascinating: the search for and contact with suppliers. every person i work with is precious, because they enrich my knowledge and my personal experience. i had the opportunity to meet goldsmiths who combine skill and tradition; i have visited tanneries where i was able to touch the excellence that our country can produce; i have exchanged ideas with last manufacturers, where the anatomy of the foot is studied as much as it is in medicine, while also being admired as a sculpture.”

Your greatest satisfaction?

“The most exciting moment is certainly when you see and touch for the first time the product you designed. it’s a feeling of indescribable happiness, because you see your drawings take a concrete form, your imagination come to life, and your dreams come true.”

The future? “we are looking for a partnership in arabia and we also have contacts in Japan and north america.”

Perché le scarpe? “capucci, un noto stilista, diceva: ‘Fai della bellezza il tuo costante ideale’. bellezza intesa come armonia delle forme, come simmetria e proporzione fra le varie parti di un oggetto, quindi fra aspetti ed elementi diversi di una stessa realtà. È la bellezza la causa e lo scopo, l’alfa e l’omega, e nelle scarpe tutti questi elementi li ritrovo”.

Com’è nata la tua passione? “mio papà e la mia famiglia sono sempre stati molto legati all’arte e al mondo museale. Fin da piccola mi hanno avvicinata al mondo artistico. Quando ho visto un bando di concorso dello ied, ho provato e vinto la borsa di studio e ho deciso di trasferirmi da verona a Firenze”.

Poi cosa è successo? “ho iniziato a lavorare, mentre ancora studiavo, presso un’eccellenza toscana, cioè il pizzo di sughero del signor Lionello villani. Lui mi ha messa in contatto con un’azienda del texas, a houston, per cui ho realizzato borse in pelle e sughero. grazie a loro sono entrata in contatto con un’altra azienda italo-svizzera che è quella con cui collaboro tutt’ora, perché sponsorizza la mia collezione di scarpe: nel marzo del 2016 abbiamo esposto la mia prima collezione di calzature a covent garden, a Londra. nel tempo ho collaborato con gianni chiarini, valmoro e con uno studio di milano che lavora per diversi brand tra cui borbonese, carpisa e pininfarina”.

La fonte della tua creatività?

“Le esperienze che colleziono e la mia identità, composta da vari mondi: in particolare la sardegna, una terra a cui sono molto legata, perché racchiude le mie origini. Qui ho imparato a conoscere e ad amare la tradizione di un popolo, che non è altro se non il racconto di quello stesso popolo attraverso abiti, materiali e gioielli. una terra dai colori, profumi e storie in grado di agire come vera fonte di ispirazione”.

Qual è la parte più dif ficile del lavoro?

“La parte più difficile è anche la più affascinante: la ricerca e i contatti con i fornitori. ogni persona con cui collaboro è preziosa, perché arricchisce il mio sapere e la mia persona. ho avuto modo di parlare con artigiani orafi che coniugano maestria e tradizione; di visitare concerie in cui toccare con mano l’eccellenza che il nostro paese riesce a produrre; mi sono confrontata con i formifici, dove l’anatomia del piede è studiata quanto in medicina, pur essendo ammirata come una scultura”.

La soddisfazione più grande?

“L’emozione più toccante è sicuramente il momento in cui vedi e tocchi il prodotto che hai progettato per la prima volta. È una sensazione di felicità indescrivibile, perché vedi i tuoi disegni prendere forma concreta, la tua immaginazione diventare realtà, i tuoi sogni realizzarsi”.

Futuro? “stiamo cercando una partnership in arabia e abbiamo contatti anche in giappone e america del nord”.

Comelz acquires 100% of Camoga The PATh OF GROwTh AND exPANSION OF COMelZ CONTINueS, AlSO FOR exTeRNAl lINeS, whICh, AlReADy exPReSSING The exCelleNCe OF MADe IN ITAly, wANTS TO BeTTeR FACe The New ChAlleNGeS ON The INTeRNATIONAl MARkeTS Comelz, a world leader in the production of cutting machines for the footwear, leather goods and automotive industries, continues its strengthening path to better ‘dominate’ international markets.

So, after the Americans of NB Renaissance Partners took control in 2017 by buying 80% of the shares, Comelz is strengthening itself by acquiring from the Mascetti family 100% of the capital of Camoga S.p.A, a company based in Cormano (Milan) specialised in the production of splitting machines for the most prestigious brands of leather goods, footwear, fashion, automotive and luxury items.

Andrea and Matteo Mascetti, part of the family that founded Camoga in 1948, will retain a leading role within the Comelz group, with a particular responsibility for the area splitting and sticking machines.

The acquisition of Camoga (which has about 60 employees, two production sites in Italy and China and which closed 2017 with a turnover of 12 million euro, up by 15% compared to 2016), will allow Comelz to expand their product range so as to pursue the broader objective: become a technological reference partner for customers. At the same time, access to the Camoga sales network will allow Comelz to further accelerate its growth, in particular in China and in the Asian markets where Camoga is present with its own production plant.

Alex Corsico, Managing Director of Comelz, shows the whole group’s satisfaction: “Comelz’s growth path follows two directions: internal growth, on which we focus more and growth through acquisitions.

Regarding the Camoga operation, we have seized numerous advantages, like acquiring a very famous name all over the world, the possibility of centralising Research and Development, the important governance experience of two managers of the calibre of Andrea and Matteo Mascetti”.

This acquisition immediately followed another one: Develer, a Florentine company specialised in the development of IT software and hardware solutions in the world of Open Source technologies. The members Giovanni Bajo and Simone Zinanni, who will keep the minority share in Develer and will continue to manage the company, bring in a staff of more than 40 developers.

“Nowadays, the software and personalisation component becomes more and more important in all products, hence the need to structure yourself to the maximum even in this sense”, commented Alex Corsico.

Comelz, azienda leader mondiale nella produzione di macchine da taglio per l’industria calzaturiera, della pelletteria e automotive, prosegue il suo percorso di irrobustimento per meglio ‘dominare’ i mercati internazionali.

Così, dopo che nel 2017 gli americani di NB Renaissance Partners ne hanno preso il controllo comprando l’80% delle quote, Comelz si rafforza acquisendo dalla famiglia Mascetti il 100% del capitale di Camoga S.p.A., azienda con sede a Cormano (Milano) specializzata nella produzione di macchine spaccapelli per i più prestigiosi marchi di pelletteria, calzatura, moda, automotive e articoli di lusso.

Andrea e Matteo Mascetti, parte della famiglia che fondò Camoga nel 1948, conser veranno un ruolo dirigenziale all’interno del gruppo Comelz, con particolare responsabilità sull’area spaccapelli e giunteria.

L’acquisizione di Camoga (che conta circa 60 dipendenti, due siti produttivi in Italia e Cina e che ha chiuso il 2017 con un fatturato di 12 milioni di euro, in crescita del 15% dal 2016), permetterà di ampliare la gamma di prodotti del gruppo Comelz così da perseguire il più ampio obiettivo: divenire partner tecnologico di riferimento per i clienti. Contemporaneamente, l’accesso alla rete commerciale di Camoga consentirà a Comelz di accelerare ulteriormente la sua crescita, in particolare in Cina e nei mercati asiatici dove Camoga è presente con un proprio stabilimento produttivo. È Alex Corsico, Amministratore Delegato di Comelz, a esternare la soddisfazione di tutto il gruppo: “Il percorso di crescita di Comelz segue due direttrici: la crescita interna, sulla quale puntiamo maggiormente, e la crescita tramite acquisizioni.

Riguardo l’operazione Camoga, ne abbiamo súbito colto i numerosi vantaggi, quello di acquisire un nome famosissimo in tutto il mondo, la possibilità di centralizzare Ricerca e Sviluppo, l’importante esperienza di governance di due manager del calibro di Andrea e Matteo Mascetti”.

A questa acquisizione ne è seguita subito un’altra: Develer, società fiorentina specializzata nello sviluppo di soluzioni IT software e hardware nel mondo delle tecnologie Open Source.

I soci Giovanni Bajo e Simone Zinanni, che manterranno la quota di minoranza in Develer e continueranno a gestire la società, portano in dote un organico composto da oltre 40 sviluppatori.

“Ormai in tutti i prodotti la componente software e di personalizzazione diventa sempre più importante, da qui l’esigenza di strutturarsi al massimo anche in tal senso”, ha commentato sempre Alex Corsico.

Outdoor footwear continues to be one of the most requested products in the sector, able to cover 25% of the sales of the entire sector.

A product category that for years has given satisfaction to producers and that attracts interest among buyers.

But what are, at this moment, the themes dear to the market segment?

Undoubtedly everything related to the concept of multi-functionality, products and shoes suitable for more than one occasion of use.

Able to better interpret more than one role and to lighten the baggage of the adventurer. The Lowa brand, for example, has enjoyed excellent growth in this niche.

Another hot topic is that of personalisation, of the possibility of having not only innovative and performing footwear, able to face extreme conditions, but also developed starting from the specific needs of each foot. A terrain faced by Tecnica and its system to customise the fitting of its hiking models.

The ‘urban outdoor’ world does not stop being successful. The fusion between fashion and sport is ridden by many brands, including Keen, Dachstein and Meindl.

Finally, the question of sustainability, is always on the podium in order of importance. Aku presented the first footwear with Environmental Declaration (leather free of hexavalent chromium, zero-impact linings, insole made by bamboo and coconut fibres).

Hanwag, on the other hand, expands its collection by equipping it with the new Eco-Shell membrane without PFC. There are many themes on the table of Outdoor world, which as always trolls with decision towards innovation.

La calzatura Outdoor continua a essere uno dei prodotti più richiesti del settore, in grado di coprire il 25% delle vendite dell’intero comparto. Una categoria merceologica che da anni regala soddisfazione ai produttori e riscuote interesse fra gli acquirenti.

Ma quali sono, in questo momento, i temi cari a questo segmento di mercato?

Senza dubbio tutto quanto legato al concetto di multifunzionalità, di prodotti e scarpe adatte a più di un’occasione d’uso. In grado di interpretare al meglio più di un r uolo e di alleggerire il bagaglio dell’avventuriero. Il marchio Lowa, per esempio, ha riscosso un’ottima crescita proprio in questa nicchia.

Altro tema caldo è quello della personalizzazione, della possibilità di avere non solo calzature innovative e performanti, in grado di affrontare condizioni estreme, ma anche sviluppate a partire dalle esigenze specifiche di ogni piede. Un terreno affrontato da Tecnica e dal suo sistema per personalizzare il fitting dei suoi modelli da hiking.

Il mondo ‘urban outdoor’ non finisce di avere successo. La fusione fra moda e sport è cavalcata da moltissimi brand, tra cui Keen, Dachstein e Meindl.

Infine, la questione sostenibilità, sempre sul podio per ordine di impor tanza. Aku ha presentato la prima calzatura cor redata da Dichiarazione Ambientale (pellami privi di cromo esavalente, fodere a impatto zero, sottopiede in bamboo e fibre di cocco). Hanwag, d’altro canto, espande la propria collezione dotandola della nuova membrana EcoShell priva di PFC. Molti i temi sul tavolo del mondo Outdoor, che come sempre traina con decisione verso l’innovazione.

Strong growth for the outdoor market during 2017 nEw EOG rESEarCh rEvEaLinG ThaT ThE EurOpEan OuTdOOr SECTOr ExpEriEnCEd SiGniFiCanT GrOwTh in 2017 The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has published figures from its latest State of Trade report, which indicate that the wholesale outdoor market grew by 7.2% in value and 6.7% in volume. The 2017 State of Trade results offer a contrast to the flat market of 2015 and modest growth (3% in value) in 2016. Last year, the wholesale outdoor market was worth € 5.86bn. Based on the wholesale figures, the estimated retail value of the outdoor market in 2017 was € 12.3bn. State of Trade uses data from 115 brands from across Europe, analysing sell-in information for seven main categories and 48 separate sub-categories.

COunTriES and rEGiOnS The largest three individual country markets are Germany, France and the uK, which together represent 50% of the sector. Germany grew by 3% in value, the same growth that was experienced in 2016. Conditions were more challenging in France with a dip in value of 2%. in contrast, the uK enjoyed a very good year, growing by 8%, above the average of 6.7%. despite variations among individual countries such as those outlined above, all regions reported growth in value and volume.

CaTEGOry dEvELOpmEnT all product categories experienced year on year growth, with the exception of tents.

Footwear performed strongest, recovering well after a decline in 2016, with double digit growth in value. There was a similar story for sleeping bags, again following a decline in 2016. apparel, the largest category, grew by 5% in value and 6.7% in volume, after a particularly strong autumn/winter season, helped by the good seasonal conditions. pauline Shepherd, EOG head of market research, comments: “The 2017 State of Trade results are very encouraging and showcase a vibrant and successful sector”.

SvILUPPO dELLE caTEGOrIE Tutte le categorie di prodotto hanno registrato una crescita anno dopo anno, a eccezione delle tende. al vertice troviamo le calzature, in ottima ripresa dopo il calo del 2016, con crescita a due cifre in termini di valore. Lo stesso si è verificato per i sacchi a pelo, sempre dopo la flessione del 2016. L’abbigliamento, la categoria più vasta, è cresciuto del 5% in valore e del 6,7% in volume, dopo una stagione autunno/inverno particolarmente buona, aiutata dalle favorevoli condizioni climatiche stagionali.

Pauline Shepherd, capo della ricerca di mercato di EOG, commenta: “I risultati dello State of Trade 2017 sono molto incoraggianti, e mostrano un settore vivace e di successo”.

THE FIrST EPISODE OF OutDOOr by ISPO WIll TAkE PlACE AT THE EnD OF JUnE From February 3 – 6 2019 more than 2,800 exhibitors will be presenting their latest sports products from segments such as Snowsports, Outdoor, Health & Fitness, Urban and Teamsports at the Messe München exhibition grounds.

But the very interesting news is that, this year, we are going to see two editions of ISPO events.

For the first time since moving from Friedrichshafen, Europe’s largest outdoor exhibition will take place between June 30 and July 3, 2019 at the trade fair center in Munich with its new and innovative concept. It will be the occasion to discover outdoor products and inspiration from the areas of mountaineering, climbing, bouldering, hiking, camping, water sports, mountain biking, yoga, and many more.

In addition to a classic four-day trade fair, OutDoor by ISPO is promoting the future and evolution of the outdoor segment with a year-round platform. Together with the EOG (European Outdoor Group) it is taking the outdoor concept further than it has ever been before. Alongside the classic original segment, Core-OutDoor, there will be the adding of the OutDoor+ and X-Industries areas into the mix.

This expansion will allow all participants, whether exhibitors or visitors, to benefit from Messe München’s decades of expertise in the sports industry, as well as the connection to the ISPO network, with its wide array of digital services. End consumers are also a key component of OutDoor by ISPO, with the OutDoor Society magazine and OutDays, a series of B2C events in Munich, laid on especially with them in mind.

The trend of the running shoe is reread thanks to the important volumes of the soles, designed to support the body... with style.

Performance characteristics of the uppers are what makes the difference: the first model is inspired by the sports world tout court, chooses technical materials mesh textile combined with synthetic PU in order not to give up lightness but, on the contrary, to amplify it.

The upper of the second proposal, however, reinterprets the Hybrid world that preserves the DNA of the brand thanks to the use of natural and soft materials such as suede embellished with gun-barrel gray coloured metal mountain hooks. The voluminous but just as much lightweight sole chooses Phylon - a softer EVA with rubber tread and the major contribution of a TPU reinforcement that regulates walking stability.

100% recycled, 100% performance PrimaLoft develops its first insulation made entirely of recycled pet bottles, without compromising performance

the outdoor sector is looking for more and more sustainable products. the primaloft development team has attempted to create an insulation made exclusively with post-consumer recycled materials (pcr), which fully meets all the primaloft performance standards. the world specialist in insulation materials and technical fabrics presented the results of intensive research, the new primaloft® silver insulation - 100% pcr and primaloft® black insulation - 100% pcr, as well as primaloft® gold insulation luxe™. the main challenge faced by the american company regarded the melting points of the pet bottles used to create the recycled fibres, which differ from that of virgin fibres. this made it difficult to produce a stable insulation fibre that meets the performance standards. primaloft therefore had to develop special recycling and production processes, resulting in the production of extremely high-performance fibres that are finer and softer than cashmere and boast high bulk density and unrivalled thermal performance. around nine commercially available pet bottles are needed to create the insulation layer for one jacket (thickness of 40 g/m2).

Jochen Lagemann, managing Director PrimaLoft Europe and asia, said “with the new 100% pcr insulation we are able to offer our customers the perfect product that combines performance (which is essential), comfort and sustainability. by 2020 we plan to produce 90% of our insulation products with at least 50% recycled fibre.” one of the first companies to use the sustainable synthetic insulation for its products was the outdoor specialist vaude, who will convert all products that were previously equipped with primaloft® silver and black insulation to the 100% pcr versions by the 2019 summer.

Riciclato al 100%, prestazioni al 100% PRimaLoft sviluppa il suo primo isolamento interamente realizzato con bottiglie in pet riciclate: nessuna prestazione compromessa

il settore outdoor è sempre più alla ricerca di soluzioni sostenibili. il team di sviluppo di primaloft ha cercato di creare un isolamento realizzato esclusivamente con contenuti riciclati dopo il consumo (pcr), che soddisfa pienamente tutti gli standard prestazionali di primaloft. lo specialista mondiale di materiali isolanti e tessuti funzionali ha presentato i risultati di un’intensa attività di ricerca, introducendo il nuovo isolamento primaloft® silver - 100% pcr e primaloft® black insulation - 100% pcr, così come primaloft® gold insulation luxe™. il problema principale affrontato dall’azienda americana ha riguardato i punti di fusione delle bottiglie in pet usate per creare le fibre riciclate che differiscono da quello delle fibre vergini, il che rende molto difficile la produzione di una fibra isolante stabile che soddisfi gli standard di prestazione. primaloft ha così dovuto sviluppare speciali processi di riciclaggio che hanno portato alla produzione di fibre ad altissime prestazioni, più fini e più morbide del cashmere, che vantano un’alta densità di massa e prestazioni termiche ineguagliabili. sono necessarie circa nove bottiglie in pet disponibili in commercio per creare lo strato isolante per una giacca (spessore 40 g/m2).

By This cONcepT Do you know of the thousands little nerves connected to the sole of the foot, that are very sensitive to stimuli like tissues, vibrations, rubbing of the skin, deep pressure and light touch?

Recent studies show that specific materials can improve balance and stability by reducing medial lateral oscillation. Francesco Carpineti, CCO of DIS, tells us how the idea was born. “our mission is that of creating work in italy, promoting Made in italy products, craftsmanship and craftsmen, since they are all overshadowed by the internet these days.

We thought that this project could benefit the Marche territory and innovate especially men’s footwear, which represents the profound tradition of our district, going back to the thirteen hundreds”.

How did it go in the beginning? “it is difficult to convince the territory’s various productive realities to go back to a way of working that belongs to the past, pair after pair and piece after piece, without creating stocks of semi-finished products, but building, instead, the soles that are necessary, for example.

We chose, right from the beginning, productive realities that were different from each other, each one of them specializing in a specific processing method, so as to offer customers a comprehensive range”.

You offer a ridiculously high number of combinations. How do you manage that?

“We were very good at organizing the work, at sharing some facilities with our partners and at choosing shoe factories and suppliers that are able to provide materials quickly. in general, valuable and permanent materials that do not necessarily reflect trends but are in line with evergreens”.

What additional services do you offer?

“The free test model (only for the eu), free shipping (in the eu and us), the on-demand care and repair service, the money-back guarantee, the lifetime warranty, the real-time personal styling support service, the customer care service and the 24/7 live chat service”.

How are you present in stores?

“We have developed a multi-channel concept by also developing the traditional in-store shopping experience with the innovative 3d shopping experience service: with a few clicks on the dis 3d configurator, especially developed and structured to be placed in retail stores as a touch screen, customers can customize the shoe they have personally chosen among the models on display, thus having a unique experience, while the store gets rid of warehouse stocks”.

Are you also looking to the women’s sector? “our first and current goal is to consolidate all that we have built so far, therefore to grow in the men’s sector and to optimize services. of course, we are looking to women too, and we hope we will be able to integrate them into the dis offer as early as next year. partly because it is a very interesting market segment, especially in terms of sales volumes”.

Where are you being most successful? “no-one is a prophet in their own country. indeed, 90% of our turnover is abroad, where Made in italy products continue to have great appeal, and where the charm of the technological element has more weight. furthermore, the interface of our system is very intuitive and visual, therefore we were able to overcome any linguistic barrier easily”.

What is the next market you would like to approach?

“There are so many. We are a young company that still needs to grow a lot. We cover america ever so slightly, and many other european markets would be interesting”.

What is the greatest satisfaction you have had so far?

“To have been able to enter Japan’s market, in important facilities, with a collection of sneakers made in italy with high-quality materials. an extremely important test for us, which we are proud to have passed”.

And in terms of figures? “very positive, i must say. We doubled our turnover in comparison with last year, and we have 50 stores worldwide (in 13 nations, mostly in china). With e-commerce, instead, we are present in 30 countries”.

“La nostra mission è quella di riportare lavoro in italia, valorizzando il made in italy, l’artigianalità e le maestranze, oggi oscurate dal web. abbiamo pensato che questo progetto potesse portare beneficio al territorio marchigiano e innovare in particolare la calzatura da uomo, che rappresenta la profonda tradizione del nostro distretto, che affonda le radici nel lontano1300”.

Come è andata all’inizio? “difficile convincere le realtà del territorio a tornare a lavorare come un tempo, paio a paio e pezzo a pezzo, senza fare stock di semilavorati, ma costruendo in maniera espressa le suole necessarie, per esempio.

Fin da subito abbiamo scelto realtà diverse fra loro, ognuna specializzata in una particolare lavorazione, così da fornire ai clienti un’assortimento completo”.

Offrite un numero di combinazioni assurdo. Come fate a gestirlo? “siamo stati bravi a organizzare il lavoro, a condividere alcune strutture con i partner e scegliere calzaturifici e fornitori in grado di approvvigionare i materiali in velocità. in linea di massima, materiali pregiati e continuativi che non rispondono per forza alla tendenza, ma allineati agli ever-green”.

Quali ser vizi aggiuntivi offrite? “il modello gratuito di prova (solo per l’eu), la spedizione gratuita (in eu e us), il servizio di cura e riparazione della calzatura su richiesta, il servizio soddisfatto o rimborsato, la garanzia a vita, il supporto di personal styling in tempo reale, il customer care e live chat attivo 24/7”.

In che modo siete presenti nei negozi? “abbiamo sviluppato il concetto di omnicanalità evolvendo anche l’esperienza tradizionale di acquisto in negozio con l’innovativo servizio di 3d shopping experience: con pochi click sul configuratore 3d di dis, appositamente sviluppato e strutturato per essere collocato all’interno del punto vendita in forma di touch screen, i clienti personalizzano la scarpa scelta di persona tra i modelli esposti, godendo di un’esperienza unica, mentre il negozio si libera degli stock in magazzino”.

Avete intenzione di aprire anche alla donna? “il nostro primo e attuale obbiettivo è consolidare quanto costruito fino ad ora, perciò crescere nel campo dell’uomo e nell’ottimizzazione del servizio. guardiamo anche alla donna, ovviamente, e speriamo di poterla integrare nell’offerta dis già dal prossimo anno. anche perché è un segmento di mercato molto interessante, soprattutto dal punto di vista dei volumi di vendita”.

Dove state riscuotendo maggior successo? “nessuno è profeta in patria. infatti realizziamo il 90% del fatturato all’estero, dove il made in italy continua ad avere grande appeal, e dove il fascino della componente tecnologica ha maggior peso.

L’interfaccia del nostro sistema, inoltre, è molto intuitiva e visuale, perciò siamo riusciti a oltrepassare con facilità ogni barriera linguistica”.

Il prossimo mercato che vi piacerebbe approcciare? “tantissimi. siamo un’azienda giovane che ha ancora molto bisogno di crescere.

L’america l’abbiamo solo sfiorata e molti altri mercati in europa sarebbero interessanti”.

La soddisfazione più grande di questi anni? “essere riusciti a entrare in giappone, in strutture importanti, con una collezione di sneaker fatte in italia con materiali di alta qualità. un’esame di maturità per noi molto importante, che siamo fieri di aver superato”.

Come sono i vostri numeri? “molto positivi, direi. abbiamo raddoppiato il fatturato rispetto all’anno scorso, e contiamo 50 negozi nel mondo (in 13 nazioni, la maggior parte in cina). con l’e-commerce, invece, siamo presenti in 30 paesi”.

Fimma renewed its image to better tell tradition and novelty With AndreA rAccostA We retrAce the key moments in the history of the compAny from BriAnzA And discover the innovAtions in terms of strAtegies And products from 1941 to 2018, the story of fimma is three generations long. from guido raccosta, passing through gaetano and sandro, today we come to meet Alessandra and Andrea, who have been in the company respectively since 1994 and 2006.

“We have gone through important developments. We started as an artisan reality to transform ourselves into a small italian company. small, but with a complex structure”, explains Andrea raccosta, general director of fimmA - sincro.

“What have we preserved from the beginning? Without any doubt my grandfather transmitted to us values and principles that, even today, are the basis of our activity: mutual convenience for us and for the client; work ethic; the importance of reinvesting profits in the company to make it grow; attachment to people. We have always been a family business, in the sense that entrepreneur and employee live side by side, suffering and enjoying the hardships and successes. An also emotional attachment, in some cases complex to manage, but that no doubt repays in quality of life”.

And if you ask him what he believes has always been charactersing fimmA, Andrea has no hesitation: “A deep passion for precision mechanics. Because the buttons we produce are, and must remain, trivial objects that present, however, a certain degree of complexity: the need for precision in the construction of moulds and punches, for example. my grandfather was an engineer with a passion for design, able to transform the theoretical and inventive inspiration into something real. hence our ability to solve many of the problems that our customers submit to us”.

What have the new generations brought to the company? “the new generations, i also mean my father at the time, have brought particular attention to new technologies, curiosity towards innovative mechanical applications.

Besides having hired competent people who have helped the company opening up to new sectors”.

You have recently renewed the corporate image. The feeling is that it is not a simple make-up operation. “in no way. it was an expressive necessity. We know who we are, the values that distinguish us and we wanted to communicate all this correctly. We have made our image more modern to describe us better, though always respecting our past. the logo, for example, has been renewed while preserving intact soul and essence.

We know who we are because we know where we come from and where we want to go. We also wanted our customers to know”.

Fimma si rinnova nell’immagine per raccontare meglio tradizione e novità CON ANDREA RACCOStA RIPERCORRIAMO I MOMENtI ChIAvE DELLA StORIA DELL’AzIENDA bRIANzOLA E SCOPRIAMO LE NOvItà IN FAttO DI StRAtEGIE E PRODOttI Dal 1941 al 2018, la storia di Fimma è lunga tre generazioni. Da Guido Raccosta, passando per Gaetano e Sandro, si giunge oggi all’incontro con Alessandra e Andrea, in azienda rispettivamente dal 1994 e dal 2006.

“Abbiamo attraversato importanti evoluzioni. Siamo partiti come una realtà artigianale per trasformarci in una piccola azienda italiana. Piccola, ma dalla struttura complessa” spiega Andrea Raccosta, Direttore Generale di FIMMA - SINCRO. “Cosa abbiamo conservato degli inizi? Senza dubbio mio nonno ci ha trasmesso valori e principi che, ancora oggi, sono alla base della nostra attività: reciproca convenienza per noi e per il cliente; eticità del lavoro; l’importanza di reinvestire i guadagni nell’azienda per farla crescere; l’attaccamento alle persone. Siamo da sempre un’azienda familiare, nel senso che imprenditore e dipendente vivono gomito a gomito, soffrendo e gioendo delle fatiche e dei successi. Un attaccamento, anche affettivo, in alcuni casi complesso da gestire, ma che senza dubbio ripaga in qualità di vita”.

E se gli si chiede cosa crede connoti FIMMA da sempre, Andrea non ha esitazioni: “Una profonda passione per la meccanica di precisione. Perché i bottoni che produciamo sono, e devono rimanere, oggetti banali che presentano, però, un certo grado di complessità: la necessità di precisione nella costruzione di stampi e punzoni, per esempio. Mio nonno era un ingegnere appassionato di progettazione, capace di trasformare l’estro teorico e inventivo in qualcosa di reale. Da qui la nostra capacità di risolvere molte delle problematiche che i nostri clienti ci sottopongono”.

Le nuove generazioni cosa hanno portato in dote all’azienda?

“Le nuove generazioni, intendo anche mio padre a suo tempo, hanno portato un’attenzione particolare per le nuove tecnologie, la curiosità verso innovative applicazioni meccaniche. Oltre ad aver assunto persone competenti che hanno aiutato l’azienda ad aprirsi a nuovi settori”.

Avete da poco rinnovato l’immagine aziendale. La sensazione è che non sia una semplice operazione di maquillage.

“Per nulla. È stata una necessità espressiva. Noi sappiamo chi siamo, i valori che ci contraddistinguono, e volevamo comunicarlo in maniera corretta. Abbiamo reso più moderna la nostra immagine per raccontarci meglio, sempre nel rispetto del nostro passato. Il logo, per esempio, si è rinnovato pur conservando intatta anima ed essenza.

Sappiamo chi siamo perché sappiamo da dove veniamo e dove vogliamo andare. Desideravamo lo sapessero anche i nostri clienti”.

New initiatives for 2019 Fimec THE LARgEST LEATHER FOOTwEAR TRAdE SHOw IN LATIN AMERICA dEvELOpS STRATEgIES IN SEARCH OF ANOTHER SuCCESSFuL EdITION The 43rd Fimec (the international fair for leather, chemical products, components, machinery and equipment for footwear and tanneries) will take place from 26 to 28 February 2019, at the Fenac pavilions in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil. From production to logistics, the fair presents all the new developments relating to hides and skins, chemical products, components, machinery, technology and innovation for the entire footwear sector.

The CEO of Fenac, Marcio Jung is satisfied: “Compared to the last edition, we have already filled up more than 80% of the exhibiting space. This year, the focus is on the visitor, we are working hard with major players of national and international footwear to attract more qualified visitors to Fimec with strong advertising abroad.”

One of the new features for the next edition is the highly anticipated Fábrica Conceito (Concept Factory), a space that will demonstrate real-time footwear production to show visitors how technological processes are applied to products exhibited at the fair.

In its last edition, the fair brought together more than 500 exhibitors with professional and qualified visitors from more than 37 countries, 14 of which from Latin America. One of the new initiatives for this year was the Fimec Forum, which thanks to its success has already been confirmed for the 2019 edition. Its activity aims at generating knowledge of new technologies, businesses and innovation, inviting renowned footwear professionals from Latin America and the world. The event will be held in parallel with Fimec on 27 February 2019.

The fair will also feature the Fimec Studio, a space run by Coelho Assessoria Empresarial and Studio 10 dedicated to fashion trends, which will create moments of interaction and experience for visitors. In this stimulating setting, visitors will be able to touch the products designed according to surveys and research on consumer behaviour. In 2019, the theme for the Studio will be “Converging Relationships”, addressing the theme of different generations increasingly connected to the virtual world. “This interaction creates new behaviours that consequently generates new consumption characteristics,” emphasises Christian Thomas, designer and director of Studio 10.

In the last few years, the injection of polyurethane directly onto the upper has become increasingly popular in the sports and leisure footwear industries.

The success is also linked to the introduction on the market of new technologies such as the “PLUS2” (a STEMMA patent ) double-ring moulding system for soles with three densities/materials injected directly onto the upper, which has allowed manufacturers to expand and enrich their product range.

Supplied as an optional on new STEMMA machines, the system allows producing footwear with rubber or TPU soles and midsoles with two different densities of polyurethane, without loss of productivity compared to a normal injection cycle on the upper.

The main advantages are certainly the possibility of creating areas of graduated density to improve the comfort and performance of the shoe, as well as the ability to overmould the upper with polyurethane, thus reducing the risk of imperfections.

In questi ultimi anni, l’iniezione diretta su tomaia di poliuretano si sta sempre più imponendo anche nei settori delle calzature sportive e per il tempo libero.

L’affermazione è anche legata all’introduzione sul mercato di nuove tecnologie come il sistema “PLUS2” (brevetto STEMMA) di stampaggio a doppio anello per suole a tre densità/materiali iniettati direttamente su tomaia che hanno permesso ai produttori di allargare e arricchire la gamma dei loro prodotti.

Fornito come optional sulle nuove macchine STEMMA, il sistema consente la produzione di calzature con suole in gomma o TPU e l’intersuola a due diverse densità di poliuretano, senza perdita di produttività rispetto ad un normale ciclo di iniezione su tomaia.

Tra i maggiori vantaggi, vi è sicuramente la possibilità di creare zone a densità graduata per migliorare il comfort e le performance del prodotto, nonchè la capacità di sovrastampare la tomaia con poliuretano riducendo il rischio di imperfezioni.
