ranquilli, non vogliamo parlare del ragazzo che lascia Londra dal binario nove e tre quarti. Ci riferiamo a buona parte dei contenuti di questo numero. Perché non si può pensare che alla magia quando ci si imbatte in una sfilata al cospetto delle piramidi di Giza, sotto un cielo stellato in mezzo al deserto (qui l’incantesimo lo ha fatto Dior). Oppure se ci si immagina per le calli di Venezia, capaci di trasformare le Friulane (scarpe nate ai piedi di contadini) in calzature alla moda. A me ricorda tanto il sortilegio delle scarpette di Cinderella. E non finisce qui: che ve ne pare della storia di una giovane designer appassionata di bambole che ne diventa la stilista.

Oppure di una suola in cuoio verde, apparentemente insignificante, che arriva a calcare le più prestigiose passerelle e diviene sinonimo di eleganza, stile e cura per l’ambiente.

Sono tutte storie in cui, a ben guardare, si scorge un po’ di polvere di stelle. Quel tocco fatato capace di trasformare un semplice abito in bellezza, in segno dei tempi e graffio ribelle. Lo stesso tocco di una ammaliatrice punk come Vivienne Westwood, a cui va il nostro omaggio. Chi più di lei ha saputo attraversare il tempo facendoci magicamente credere che rivoluzione, divertimento, follia, genio non siano tutti sinonimi dello stesso termine: vita.

Per tornare al maghetto più famoso: wingardium leviòsa. Questo l’incantesimo ‘potteriano’ per far levitare gli oggetti, voi usatelo per far volare l’immaginazione e trasformare moda in magia.

Don’t worry, we’re not talking about the guy leaving London from platform nine and three quarters. We are referring to much of the content of this issue. Because you can only think of magic when you come across a fashion show in the presence of the pyramids of Giza, under a starry sky in the middle of the desert (Dior did the spell here). Or if you imagine yourself in the calli of Venice, able to transform the Friulane (shoes born on the feet of peasants) into fashionable footwear. It reminds me so much of the spell of Cinderella’s slippers. And it doesn’t end there: how about the story of a young designer with a passion for dolls who becomes their designer. Or how about an apparently insignificant green leather sole that makes it to the most prestigious catwalks and becomes synonymous with elegance, style and care for the environment.

These are all stories in which, on closer inspection, one glimpses a bit of stardust. That fairy touch capable of transforming a simple dress into beauty, into a sign of the times and a rebellious scratch. The same touch of a punk charmer like Vivienne Westwood, to whom our homage goes. Who more than she has been able to cross time making us magically believe that revolution, fun, madness, genius are not all synonyms of the same word: life.

To return to the most famous magician: wingardium leviòsa. This is the ‘Potterian’ spell to make objects levitate, you can use it to make imagination fly and turn fashion into magic.

Fashion, the laboratory of the future

S

e la moda è un sistema che si rinnova guardando alla storia, il futuro è già scritto nel passato. Il suo, ovviamente.

Si potrebbe dire, in maniera abbastanza insolente, moda magistra vitae. Soprattutto di quella che verrà. E del resto quelli che sono i diktat imprescindibili della moda attuale – la sostenibilità, ovviamente, ma anche la funzionalità, l’utilità e insieme la bellezza, intesa nella sua accezione più soggettiva e assolutamente libera dai canoni tradizionali – fanno da sempre parte di un bagaglio fashion che attraversa le epoche e che le rappresenta, con il suo annesso di crinoline e corsetti e derive stilistiche varie. Il rapporto binario che la moda intrattiene con il tempo caratterizza anche la sua essenza primaria in cui si ritrova la domanda più banale che, d’abitudine, viene fatta in rapporto a lei, ovvero cosa verrà dopo? Quale sarà la tendenza? What’s next? È lecito pensare che, alla stregua dei rabdomanti, stilisti e direttori creativi forniscano nelle loro creazioni una risposta a un interrogativo vecchio come il mondo che, al netto dei cambiamenti repentini che costituiscono l’elemento vitale “di disturbo” più macroscopico del sistema moda, indirizza la direzione che, volente o nolente, prenderà il domani. Il futuro non è più scritto nelle stelle ma in quello che viene portato in passerella e che bramiamo di indossare facendone il nostro privilegiato oggetto del desiderio. Una verità talmente evidente che rende, da sempre, la moda un laboratorio del futuro, un autentico Wunderkammer le cui meraviglie sono destinate a prendere realmente vita e forma nell’arco di una manciata di anni. La conferma, una volta di più, viene dalla storia, previo un salto temporale che arriva ai primi del Novecento in cui un gruppo di intellettuali, i celebri futuristi, era mosso dall’idea di creare un’arte totale che trasformasse in senso estetico l’intera società e, di conseguenza, anche gli aspetti della vita quotidiana di cui l’abbigliamento stesso faceva parte. L’uomo futurista e il suo modo di vestire erano ribelli ai canoni obsoleti e borghesi che rivoluzionavano trasferendoli in un trionfo di abiti ricchi di geometrismi e colori

forti che, al pari dei dipinti, trasmettevano vitalità e assecondavano il movimento del corpo, stimolando la libertà creativa e unendo a un contenuto provocante una buona dose di praticità che li rendeva funzionali a ogni attività. Un esempio per tutti è la tuta, un unico pezzo di stoffa assolutamente unisex creato nel 1919 dal futurista fiorentino Thayat, un visionario doc se è vero che, collaborando poi con la Maison Vionnet, elaborò un altro punto cardine della moda del ‘900, ovvero il taglio a sbieco che, applicato agli abiti, fu destinato a cambiare per sempre il modo di vestire dell’universo femminile. La vertiginosa serie di intuizioni illuminanti fece del futurismo uno dei movimenti più anticipatori di sempre - il collo a v, le cravatte di metallo, l’utilizzo di materiali desueti come lo stesso metallo e il caucciù – in un salto temporale che arriva direttamente agli anni ‘80 con le placche metalliche e le maglie in acciaio utilizzate poi da Paco Rabanne e da Versace. Una dinamica che non stupisce perché l’idea stessa del futuro non può che prendere vita direttamente dallo Zeitgeist in cui si inserisce, concretizzandone gli stimoli e le aspirazioni che, paradossalmente, sono già in essere.

La mente corre a quel gruppo di designer francesi che, negli anni ‘60, ispirati dalla deriva spaziale alla quale il mondo bramava, sperimentarono un immaginario cosmico che si poneva esattamente all’opposto rispetto all’haute couture parigina delle grandi maison.

L’eroina galattica di Courrèges. La fascinazione metallurgica del già citato Paco Rabanne. E ancora, il corollario siderale di accessori lunari declinati tra cappelli – casco e, soprattutto, stivali bianchi destinati a diventare calzature iconiche non solo per le moon girls –. E sì, perché proprio nel 1969 da un’intuizione geniale avuta guardando la foto del secondo uomo sulla luna, Buzz Aldrin, l’italiano Giancarlo Zanatta creò uno stivale impermeabile e leggerissimo, al netto dell’imbottitura e di una forma non proprio delicata, i moon boot, scarpone invernale per eccellenza – e dell’eccellenza italiana che nel tempo è diventato un vero e proprio feticcio –tanto da essere esposto al MoMa di New York e da essere annoverato dal >

E che ha ancora molto da dire, come dimostra il suo come back nell’inverno 2023, nonostante temperature non propriamente rigide.

Che i designer non abbiano mai smesso di immaginare il domani è oltremodo evidente nella visione avanguardistica di due creativi leggendari, Thierry Mugler e Alexander McQueen, la cui influenza sulla moda è pressoché infinita. Dal métissage eclettico e postmoderno in cui trovano posto le influenze più disparate a cavallo tra il glamour hollywoodiano degli anni ‘40 e l’avveniristico sci-fi del couturier francese con le sue amazzoni robotiche e i corsetti ispirati alle automobili d’epoca, alla visione distopica e provocatoria graffiata da riferimenti artistici d’autore di Alexander McQueen, di cui sarebbe riduttivo sintetizzare in poche righe la portata del genio e la capacità premonitrice e profetica della sua moda. È sufficiente ricordare il suo canto del cigno, l’ultima grandiosa sfilata “Plato’s Atlantis” del 2009 in cui la celebrazione della natura era affidata a modelle-aliene, un po’ rettili, un po’ umane, che sfilavano indossando abiti dalle stampe animalesche realizzate, per la prima volta, in digitale, con ai piedi le iconiche Armadillo Shoes, scarpe pressoché non indossabili dagli altissimi plateaux a forma di zampa.

Ambiente e tecnologia, dunque, una combo che sempre più, negli anni, ha guidato la mano innovatrice di designer coraggiosi: da Nicolas Ghesquière, con il suo approccio sperimentale alle texture e i continui riferimenti all’universo sci-fi, alla contaminazione tra mondi differenti in cui la tecnologia si unisce alla couture sfruttandone le potenzialità materiche di Iris van Herpen (che, di fatto, di Alexander McQueen fu allieva). E oggi? La performance in passerella di Coperni alla fashion week parigina dello scorso ottobre con l’abito creato spruzzando sul corpo della top model Bella Hadid un composto di fibre di cotone e materiali sintetici che diventava un perfetto tubino è un altro, spettacolare modo in cui la moda anticipa il futuro. E c’è dell’altro. Perché, in linea con la disamina di cui sopra secondo la quale la moda inventa il domani sulla base degli stimoli

del suo presente, l’abbigliamento che verrà sarà incentrato sul riprogettare il come, in un’evoluzione nel modo di concepire e creare gli abiti che possa unire design, sostenibilità e utilità. Perché l’uomo, carnefice e al contempo vittima dello squilibrio dell’ecosistema in cui si trova, può ristabilire una maggiore sostenibilità nel sistema moda utilizzando le tecnologie da lui create. Senza mai rinunciare all’intima e profonda bellezza che, della moda stessa, è da sempre l’attributo principale. Presente, passato e futuro, naturalmente.

And after all, the unavoidable diktats of today’s fashion - sustainability, obviously, but also functionality, utility and, at the same time, beauty, understood in its most subjective meaning and absolutely free from traditional canons - have always been part of a fashion baggage that crosses the eras and represents them, with its annex of crinolines and corsets and various stylistic drifts. The binary relationship that fashion has with time also characterises its WYPTHY` LZZLUJL PU ^OPJO VUL ÄUKZ [OL TVZ[ IHUHS X\LZ[PVU [OH[ PZ usually asked in relation to it, namely what will come next? What will be the trend? What’s next? It is legitimate to think that, like diviners, stylists and creative directors provide in their creations an answer [V H X\LZ[PVU HZ VSK HZ [OL ^VYSK ^OPJO HWHY[ MYVT [OL Z\KKLU changes that constitute the most macroscopic ‘disturbing’ vital element of the fashion system, directs the direction that, willy-nilly, tomorrow will take. The future is no longer written in the stars but in what is brought to the catwalk and what we yearn to wear, making it our privileged object of desire. A truth so evident that it makes fashion a laboratory of the future, an authentic Wunderkammer whose wonders are destined to really come to life and take shape PU [OL ZWHJL VM H OHUKM\S VM `LHYZ ;OL JVUÄYTH[PVU VUJL HNHPU

comes from history, taking a leap back in time to the early 20th century when a group of intellectuals, the famous Futurists, were driven by the idea of creating a total art that would transform the ^OVSL VM ZVJPL[` PU HU HLZ[OL[PJ ZLUZL HUK JVUZLX\LU[S` HSZV [OL aspects of everyday life of which clothing itself was a part. The futurist man and his way of dressing were rebels against the obsolete and bourgeois canons that they revolutionised by transferring them into a triumph of clothes rich in geometric patterns and strong colours that, like the paintings, conveyed vitality and supported the movement of the body, stimulating creative freedom and combining a provocative content with a good dose of practicality that made them functional for every activity. One example for all is the jumpsuit, a single piece of absolutely unisex fabric created in 1919 by the Florentine futurist Thayat, a visionary doc if it is true that, later collaborating with the Maison Vionnet, he elaborated another cornerstone of 20th century fashion, the bias cut which, applied to dresses, was destined to change forever the way the female universe dressed. The dizzying series of enlightening intuitions made futurism one of the most anticipatory movements of all time - the v-neck, metal ties, the use of obsolete materials such as metal itself and rubber - in a time leap that reaches directly to the 1980s with the metal plates and steel links later used by Paco Rabanne and Versace. A dynamic that is not surprising because the very idea of the future can only come to life directly from the Zeitgeist in which it Ä[Z JVUJYL[PZPUN [OL Z[PT\SP HUK HZWPYH[PVUZ [OH[ WHYHKV_PJHSS` HYL already in place. The mind goes back to that group of French designers who, in the 1960s, inspired by the space drift to which the world yearned, experimented with a cosmic imagery that was the exact opposite of the Parisian haute couture of the great maisons.

The galactic heroine of Courrèges. The metallurgical fascination of the aforementioned Paco Rabanne. And again, the sidereal corollary of lunar accessories declined between hats - helmets and, above all, white boots destined to become iconic footwear not only for moon girls -. And yes, because it was precisely in 1969, from a brilliant intuition he had while looking at the photo of the second man on the moon, Buzz Aldrin, that the Italian Giancarlo Zanatta created an extremely light, waterproof boot, net of padding and a shape that was not exactly delicate, the moon boot, a winter boot par excellence - and of Italian excellence that over time has become a true fetish - so much so that it was exhibited at the MoMa in New York and was listed by the Musée du Louvre as one of the

100 most innovative examples of 20th century design. And that it still has a lot to say, as its comeback in winter 2023 proves, despite not exactly freezing temperatures.

That designers have never stopped imagining tomorrow is most evident in the avant-garde vision of two legendary designers, ThierY` 4\NSLY HUK (SL_HUKLY 4J8\LLU ^OVZL PUÅ\LUJL VU MHZOPVU PZ HSTVZ[ PUÄUP[L -YVT [OL LJSLJ[PJ WVZ[ TVKLYU Tt[PZZHNL PU ^OPJO [OL TVZ[ KPZWHYH[L PUÅ\LUJLZ Z[YHKKSL [OL /VSS`^VVK NSHTV\Y VM [OL Z HUK [OL M\[\YPZ[PJ ZJP Ä VM [OL -YLUJO JV\[\YPLY ^P[O his robotic amazons and corsets inspired by vintage cars, to the dystopian and provocative vision scratched by artistic references of Alexander McQueen, whose scope of genius and the premonitory and prophetic capacity of his fashion would be reductive to summarise in a few lines. It is enough to recall his swan song, the last grandiose ‘Plato’s Atlantis’ fashion show in 2009, in which the celebration of nature was entrusted to alien models, part reptile, part human, who paraded wearing dresses with animal prints creH[LK MVY [OL ÄYZ[ [PTL KPNP[HSS` ^P[O [OL PJVUPJ (YTHKPSSV :OVLZ VU their feet, shoes that are almost unwearable with very high pawshaped platforms. Environment and technology, then, a combo that over the years has increasingly guided the innovative hand of JV\YHNLV\Z KLZPNULYZ! MYVT 5PJVSHZ .OLZX\PuYL ^P[O OPZ L_WLYPTLU[HS HWWYVHJO [V [L_[\YLZ HUK JVU[PU\V\Z YLMLYLUJLZ [V [OL ZJP Ä \UP]LYZL [V [OL JVU[HTPUH[PVU IL[^LLU KPќLYLU[ ^VYSKZ PU ^OPJO technology combines with couture, exploiting the material potential VM 0YPZ ]HU /LYWLU ^OV PU MHJ[ ^HZ (SL_HUKLY 4J8\LLU»Z W\WPS And today? Coperni’s catwalk performance at last October’s Paris Fashion Week with the dress created by spraying supermodel Bella /HKPK»Z IVK` ^P[O H TP_[\YL VM JV[[VU ÄIYLZ HUK Z`U[OL[PJ TH[LYPHSZ that became a perfect sheath dress is another spectacular way in which fashion anticipates the future. And there’s more. Because, in line with the above discussion according to which fashion invents tomorrow on the basis of the stimuli of its present, the clothing to come will focus on redesigning the how, in an evolution in the way clothes are conceived and created that can combine design, sustainability and utility. Because man, both executioner and victim VM [OL PTIHSHUJL VM [OL LJVZ`Z[LT PU ^OPJO OL ÄUKZ OPTZLSM JHU re-establish greater sustainability in the fashion system by using the technologies he has created. Without ever renouncing the intimate and profound beauty that has always been the main attribute of fashion itself. Present, past and future, of course.

a moda conosce i suoi tempi. Con questa consapevolezza vive il suo irrefrenabile desiderio di succedersi e realizzarsi cercando di accorciare respiri e pause in una lettura, a volte precipitosa, dell’immediato futuro.

Come una vecchia fotocamera che ricerca l’eternità tentando di immortalare il volto del tempo. In un’inter]PZ[H (UK` >HYOVS LIIL H KPYL! ¸3H TVKH u PU ÄU KLP conti, una polaroid estemporanea”, che richiede anni per schiarirsi e che, nonostante il mercato si accontenti anche di un’immagine sfocata per continuare il suo corso, necessita di linee e forme KLÄUP[L WLY PUKP]PK\HYL PS Z\V M\[\YV ZWLZZV WYL]LKPIPSL ,WW\YL nell’ultimo anno, il temibile tempo ha rimescolato le carte sul tavolo della moda in nome dell’improvvisazione, dettata da un’assenza di imprevedibilità. Quella che negli anni ‘90 incollava investitori e capitalisti alla scrivania nel tentativo di accaparrarsi l’Alexander Mc8\LLU L PS .HSSPHUV KLNSP LZVYKP , JVZy PU JLYJH KP U\V]V Z[\WVYL le grandi holding franco-italiane (LVMH, Kering, OTB) hanno dovuto rivedere le loro prossime mosse prima di individuare il proprio doTHUP :JVTWHYL SH ÄN\YH KLS JSHZZPJV KPYL[[VYL JYLH[P]V JHWHJL KP disegnare l’abito, a favore del creativo che disegna il percorso del brand e lascia l’abito nelle mani esperte del team interno. Trova valore il concetto di recupero, come viaggio nel passato tra archivio e heritage. La moda risana i vuoti lasciati dal periodo pandemico, e interviene sulla sua struttura: non più una piramide gerarchica,

Spogliato dell’architettura organica dell’ex Phoebe Philo, Celine ne sceglie una più esile e immediata, rivolta alla nuova Gen Z, che antepone al verbo artistico della creatività quello pratico della portabilità. Dior annulla SL KPќLYLUaL [YH PS WYv[ n WVY[LY L SH JV\[\YL YLUKLUKV X\LZ[»\S[Pma un ready-to-wear solo più prezioso; Valentino, nell’ultimo show Couture, ha deciso di aggiornare le linee guida della collezione con abiti più ‘quotidiani’. Non vi è futuro senza memoria del passato. Un concetto che vale in ogni ambito, anche in quello della TVKH JVT\ULTLU[L HJJVZ[H[V HSS»LѝTLYV L JOL vive di continuo mutamento». Le parole di Stefania Ricci, direttore del Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, accarezzano il basamento medioevale di Palazzo Spini -LYVUP WLY WVP WLYKLYZP PU WPHaaH :HU[H ;YPUP[n L ZÄSHYL per le vie di Firenze. Varcarne l’ingresso equivale a immergersi nella storia con la esse maiuscola, dell’umanità e della moda. Nel 1289 Geri Spini, banchiere del Papa e dei re di Francia e Inghilterra, iniziò la costruzione del palazzo. Nel 1938 Salvatore Ferragamo vi aprì il suo laboratorio di calzature di lusso. Quanto futuro, poi maturato in passato, nel mezzo!

«Ritengo la valorizzazione della memoria, per i marchi che vantano un heritage consistente – continua Stefania Ricci –, uno strumento importante per comunicare i valori su cui quel marchio si è fondato.

Ciò che sta alle spalle rappresenta la prova concreta della capacità di un brand di conservare inalterati nel tempo la sensibilità per la qualità del proprio prodotto, la riconoscibilità e la capacità di intercettare bisogni mutevoli. È il motivo per cui tutte le scuole che insegnano fashion design, prevedono corsi non solo di storia della moda, ma anche di storia dell’arte e delle idee».

Il Museo Salvatore Ferragamo nasce nel maggio del 1995 per iniziativa della famiglia Ferragamo con la volontà di far conoscere al pubblico di tutto il mondo le qualità artistiche del designer italiano e il ruolo che ha ricoperto nella storia non solo della calzatura, ma anche della moda internazionale. Oggi custodisce le incredibili invenzioni di un vero e proprio genio. Perché Salvatore Ferragamo è stato senza alcun dubbio un inventore, tra l’altro estremamente WYVSPÄJV 7YLJ\YZVYL KLP [LTWP UVU ZVSV OH ZWLYPTLU[H[V TH OH utilizzato in maniera sistematica lo strumento dei brevetti a protezione delle sue idee. La possibilità di innovare non conosce data di scadenza, perché il mondo cambia di continuo. pUt Story costruisce armature nelle quali ciascun individuo può trovare rifugio ed esprimere liberamente la propria personalità.

Le geometrie dell’architettura purista, l’inchiostro che scava la pelle per il tatuaggio, l’arroganza della musica rap e l’ironica violenza dei videogiochi anni ‘90 delineano il codice genetico della collezione primavera-estate “UTLOC20”. I materiali sono sia sintetici, come la poliammide “Silverstone”, che naturali, come il cachemire. O anche super polimeri plastici di origine naturale, come il TPU derivato dalla barbabietola da zucchero, stampati in 3D. Le calzature prendono ispirazione dalle armature utilizzate in alcuni videogiochi.

pUt Story builds armour in which each individual can find refuge and freely express his or her personality. The geometries of purist architecture, the ink that digs into the skin for tattoos, the arrogance of rap music and the ironic violence of 90s video games delineate the genetic code of the spring-summer ‘UTLOC20’ collection. The materials are both synthetic, such as ‘Silverstone’ polyamide, and natural, such as cashmere. Or even super plastic polymers of natural origin, such as TPU derived from sugar beet, 3D printed. The footwear takes inspiration from the armour used in certain video games.

e ci si ispira all’astrologia dell’antico Egitto non si può che sfilare al cospetto delle piramidi della necropoli di Giza, avrà pensato Pietro Beccari, Amministratore Delegato della casa di moda francese. Non una semplice cornice o uno sfondo suggestivo, bensì un protagonista dell’idea di uomo di Dior per il prossimo inverno. Deserto e piramidi rappresentano lo stratificarsi di sabbia e tempo. Concetto ripreso dal designer Kim Jones che propone un’estetica di sovrapposizioni con pantaloni sormontati da teli plissé, quasi dei kilt ammantati di leggerezza e grazia, e pantaloni corti che vanno a coprire dei leggings. Uno strato sopra l’altro, proprio come agisce la storia o i simboli antichi che rappresentando una realtà ne celano un’altra. Una passione per simboli e superstizioni che secondo Jones avvicina Dior alla cultura degli antichi egizi.

If one is inspired by the astrology of ancient Egypt, one can only parade in the presence of the pyramids of the Giza necropolis, thought Pietro Beccari, CEO of the French fashion house. Not a simple frame or an evocative backdrop, but a protagonist of Dior’s idea of man for next winter. Desert and pyramids represent the layering of sand and time. A concept taken up by designer Kim Jones who proposes an aesthetic of superimpositions with trousers topped with pleated cloths, almost like kilts cloaked in lightness and grace, and shorts covering leggings. One layer on top of the other, just as history or ancient symbols act, representing one reality concealing another. A passion for symbols and superstitions that, according to Jones, brings Dior closer to the culture of the ancient Egyptians.

uando mi chiedono consiglio per organizzare un viaggio, non riesco a pensare destinazioni banali. Mi sono precipitato ancora una volta in Medio Oriente e mi sono perso in un sogno.

La nuova frontiera del turismo internazionale, ben rappresentata dall’Arabia Saudita, mi ha accolto per la X\PU[H ]VS[H KH X\HUKV OH HWLY[V P Z\VP JVUÄUP HP ]PHNgiatori occidentali nel 2019. Fui tra i primi a ricevere un visto turistico per visitare quei luoghi. In Arabia Saudita, AlUla non può certo essere ignorata. È una località ricca di storia e cultura, incastonata PU \U JVU[LZ[V UH[\YHSL KLJPZHTLU[L HќHZJPUHU[L Scoprirete che non viaggio mai con scarpe da trekking e zainetto da liceale. Avrò sempre con me l’accessorio giusto, anche durante un safari nel deserto alla ricerca dell’elephant rock, o in occasione della visita alla città di Hegra. Ovviamente anche quando mi meraviglio di fronte al Maraya Concert Hall, un vero monumento al design. Tracolle per contenere il passaporto, shopper per la fotocamera analogica, e un bucket-hat per le mattine in piscina all’Habitas AlUla Hotel.

Venice in love

U

nica e invidiata. Copiata e adorata. Visitata e celebrata da gente comune come da artisti di ogni epoca che, KLSSL TLYH]PNSPL L KLNSP ZJVYJP TVaaHÄH[V KP J\P KH sempre si fregia, hanno fatto la cornice prediletta della loro arte. E del resto non può che essere così per Venezia, patrimonio mondiale dell’umanità, che con i suoi JHUHSP L SL Z\L JHSSP PS WYVÄSV THLZ[VZV KLP Z\VP JHTWHUPSP L X\LSS»HIbraccio intenso con cui il cielo si fonde nella laguna è da sempre una delle mete turistiche più ambite e, naturalmente, uno dei posti più suggestivi al mondo. La sua storia millenaria si respira insieme all’odore salmastro della laguna; per secoli è stata la capitale della vastissima Repubblica di Venezia e ha dato i natali ad alcune delle personalità più importanti della storia e della cultura, da Marco Polo a Carlo Goldoni, da Giacomo Casanova ad Antonio Vivaldi; e ancora ad artisti come Tintoretto, Bellini, Canaletto, Tiepolo e Canova. Le 118 isolette satellite che la circondano la rendono simile a una regina il cui fascino senza tempo è stato celebrato da capolavori immortali, vedi alla voce William Shakespeare e Thomas Mann. Non hanno bisogno di presentazioni

San Marco, con il suo Palazzo Ducale e l’unica piazza della città – le altre si chiamano campi – e Dorsoduro, con il suo ventaglio di musei L KP WHSHaaP UVIPSPHYP YPJJV KP HUNVSP ZJLUVNYHÄJP PU J\P SV ZN\HYKV ZP perde, prima di approdare a Punta della Dogana, dove si trova il muZLV KP HY[L TVKLYUH HSSLZ[P[V PU \U LKPÄJPV KHSSH MVYTH [YPHUNVSHYL VYPginariamente adibito al controllo delle merci, e all’isola della Giudecca e il suo corollario di celebri chiese. Senza dimenticare la verdissima zona del sestiere di Castello, giardini Napoleonici, e l’Arsenale, simbolo della potenza navale della Serenissima.

Venezia da visitare, ma anche da sfruttare come ottima occasione per uno shopping che tralasci i tradizionali negozi di souvenirs di cui la città è costellata ma che ceda, con buon cuore, alle lusinghe delle IV[[LNOL HY[PNPHUL HSSL IV\[PX\L KP HS[H TVKH HNSP VNNL[[P KP HY[L L KP design rigorosamente realizzati nel vetro dei mastri vetrai di Murano.

E ancora spazio alla tradizione tessile della città racchiusa in merletti, tessuti pregiati e, ovviamente, nei costumi storici del Carnevale cuciti a mano insieme alle amatissime maschere in cartapesta. Per lo shopping di alto livello, il consiglio è di entrare al Fondaco de’ Tedeschi, \U LKPÄJPV KLS ?000TV ZLJVSV UH[V JVTL W\U[V KP HWWYVKV KLSSL TLYJP [YHZWVY[H[L KHP TLYJHU[P [LKLZJOP YPJVU]LY[P[V PU LKPÄJPV KLSSL 7VZ[L e, successivamente, in department store di lusso dotato, all’ultimo piano, di una meravigliosa terrazza che, oltre alle esposizioni e alle TVZ[YL JOL ]P ZP H]]PJLUKHUV VќYL PS X\HKYV WP ILSSV! PS WHUVYHTH della città bagnata dal Canal Grande.

Ma Venezia è anche celebre per il suo patrimonio enogastronomico in cui la tradizione locale, arricchita dai sapori dell’entroterra veneto, si è piegata ad accogliere odori e suggestioni orientali, diretta emanazione del crocevia culturale accolto dalla città. Del resto, l’origine THYPUHYH KP =LULaPH ZP YP[YV]H HUJOL ULSSH WHY[PJVSHYP[n KLP Z\VP WPH[[P! Last but not least, la cultura. A Venezia trova la sua speciale ragione d’essere grazie a eventi dispiegati nel corso di tutto l’anno – dalla Biennale alla Mostra del Cinema, per intenderci. La rendono, una volta di più, un paradiso bellissimo e versatile in cui tutti possono trovare nutrimento per le loro passioni.

Unique and envied. Copied and adored. Its thousand-year history can be breathed in along with the salty smell of the lagoon; for centuries it was the capital of the vast Venetian Republic and the birthplace of some of the most important personalities in history and culture, from Marco Polo to Carlo Goldoni, from Giacomo Casanova to Antonio Vivaldi; and artists such as Tintoretto, Bellini, Canaletto, Tiepolo and Canova. The 118 satellite islands surrounding it make it resemble a queen whose timeless charm has been celebrated by immortal masterpieces, see under William Shakespeare and Thomas Mann.

n abito può cambiare armadio, vestire un corpo diverso, ma resta ben oltre la creatività di chi lo ha cucito o lo sguardo di chi l’ha indossato. I ricordi impigliati fra le sue pieghe, invece, rischiano l’oblio. Ma non se riposano nel mio cassetto della memoria, in cui custodisco volti e storie.

L’orologio segna venti anni fa. Nelle orecchie il lieve incresparsi del Tevere. Poco sopra, la terrazza di un’anziana signora che, fra lo sfoglio dei ricordi, ha rilegata una guerra mondiale, per esempio, e numerose visite di famiglia di Emilio Schuberth, il ‘sarto KLSSL KP]L»" JV\[\YPLY KLSSH ZJ\VSH UHWVSL[HUH NYHѝH[V KHS ZLUZV dell’arte e dello spettacolo.

Appena siedo nel suo salotto intuisco che gli abiti che sta per ofMYPYTP UVU ZVUV ZVSV Z[VќH [HNSPH[H PTIHZ[P[H L JVUMLaPVU[H 7LY SLP sono memorie che gradirebbe non si smarrissero, nonostante la vividezza di chi le ha vissute vada sbiadendo.

Una gonna lunga a ruote che ospita un bellissimo bordo di rondini nere dipinte a mano su campitura rosa.

Il suo racconto mi commuove: “Schuberth volle farmi un regalo ancor più grande. Così nel salone dei ricevimenti comparve una decorazione. Correva su tutti i muri e riportava le stesse rondini, liberate in un cielo rosa”.

Mi basta chiudere gli occhi per ritrovarmi in quella villa, scorgere i suoi giovani occhi che in quel volo ravvisarono sogni e futuro.

Le acque del Tevere continuano a scivolare verso il mare, come ciascuna delle nostre vite. Non quei diciott’anni, non quelle rondini, non quell’abito in raso di seta rosa.
