Colored weft – economical color effect for skin friendly towels In this case, only the weft is colored, while the threads in pile and warp remain white. Chlorine-resistant weft threads offer an economic means of achieving color effects for pleasing results in high-low woven motifs and waffle looks. Besides providing a sense of warmth in care settings, towels with colored weft are also suitable for spa facilities – with minimal risk of color deviations in follow-up orders.

Golf towels – with professional tri-fold design Golfers value our towels as a means of cleaning their clubs and balls. Our golf towels feature a tri-fold design, fixed with an eye in the middle and attached by a carabiner. This way, they are always ready to hand on the side of the trolley – with the embroidered lettering kept upright and easily readable. Embroidery can be added to the bottom third of the towel, approx. 5 cm above the bottom edge and up to approx. 11 cm wide. We make golf towels from our Profi-Star Guest towels, which measure 40 x 50 cm before folding. 76

Embroidery – delicate handicraft with modern technology

Labels are usually woven, which means that the symbols and motifs woven into the labels cannot wash out and are even chlorine-resistant. The standard choice is to display your logo on the front, while the reverse offers space to provide material information, laundry care symbols and, if appropriate, the distributor’s address. We offer woven labels in three standard sizes, depending on the logo and text width, and always sew labels into the upper edge of the towel. It is kept separate from the hanger loop, which is made from twill band sewn into the middle of the top edge.

Labels – combining a distinguished brand with transparency

Bathrobes

In keeping with traditional handicraft practice, the first step is “punching”, which involves creating an embroidery card for each logo or motif. Modern machinery performs the actual embroidery and is generally capable of accommodating up to five colors. We rely on chlorine-resistant polyester embroidery threads and offer a selection of roughly 400 different colors. We recommend applying embroidery in the lower third of the towel so that the embroidered design is clearly visible, remains upright and does not present a hindrance when drying.

Customization options

We weave motifs with a high-low profile into the upper side of the towel, tone on tone with the towel color. This does not change the base fabric, which ensures that the towels’ dimensional stability remains unaffected. We generally use twisted terry for the pile because its denser and more consistent pile creates clear contours. Letters must be at least 3 cm tall, while lines must be at least 0.5 cm wide. Large, flat areas should be avoided. We can apply a motif across the entire area of a towel.

High-low woven motif – a discreet yet elevated statement

Woven border motif – premium communication In this option, we weave colored weft threads into a smooth border. We use polyester yarns that create logos and lettering with excellent color retention and a silky sheen. To achieve stylish results, we recommend using a single motif color and opting for a single border along the lower edge. The border is implemented as a mirror image on the reverse side. We recommend the following border heights: 4 to 6 cm for Guest towels; 8 to 12 cm for Hand and Shower towels; and 10 to 15 cm for Sauna and Bath towels. The border always runs for the full width of the towel.

Loose fringes at towel ends Loose fringes at the top and bottom ends of the towel convey a certain Mediterranean flair and summery lightness. The fringes mean that the towel ends have no folded edges, so it is not possible to sew in a label or hanger loop. Fringes always match the towel color. As an uninterrupted continuation of the towel fabric, the fringes are not an addition to the towel and so do not complicate laundry handling.

exclusivity The term “banana” describes the structure of the pile, which appears to flow in gentle waves. In technical terms, this means that one thread is omitted from the pile. However, this does not impair the loop tensile strength of the pile yarns, as they are secured by the base fabric, which we weave with particularly high density using modern looms. The result is a fleecy, voluminous towel with relatively low weight. In this case, less is certainly more!

RFID transponders in towel seams – invisible, useful devices

We can sew an RFID transponder into the seam on the upper edge of the towel, leaving the microchip carrier and antenna wires out of sight and barely noticeable – and protected against damage and slipping out of position. We keep a supply of transponders from leading manufacturers on stock in our factory to ensure swift and flexible implementation. As a result, we can implement transponders even in small production batches.

Custom colors – to convey your identity We offer a unique portfolio of tried-andtested dyes in various shades to replicate customer-specific colors – for reactive dyes and vat dyes (for cotton) as well as dispersion dyes (for polyester yarns). All our dyes have outstanding washing qualities, are boil-proof and demonstrate excellent lightfastness. We recommend using vat dyes for exceptional chlorine resistance and produce white towels with a high level of basic whiteness.

Recommendations for bathrobes

Embroidery in combination with colored piping Opting for piping and embroidery in the same shade is a classy combination sure to make an impression. In this case, we use high-quality polyester yarns for both the embroidery and the piping, as its shine withstands the demands of industrial laundry particularly well. The embroidery yarns and piping are completely color-stable, ink-repellent, boil-proof and chlorineresistant.

Colored piping for the collar, sleeves and pockets An elegant and practical option for sophisticated establishments: colored piping not only creates a lavish appearance, it can also be used to differentiate between different sizes and application areas, making it easier to sort and distribute. We can apply boil-proof and colorfast piping to the collar, pockets and sleeves, subject to a minimum order volume – e.g. 100 units for Twin-Star bathrobes.

Pocket label As shown in the photo, this folded label is positioned over the lip of the bathrobe’s right-hand pocket and is stitched on both ends. The logo always remains visible on the outside, displaying a discreet nobility. The inside of the label features laundry care symbols and the distributor’s address. We recommend the dimensions shown here, approx. 7.5 x 3 cm.

Contrasting sleeves with embroidery Embroidery on the sleeve trim is a particularly classy option: it can be implemented all around the sleeve, almost down to the edge. Our Twin-Star bathrobes are ideally suited to this customization, which is available for orders of at least 100 units. We recommend opting for either the shawl collar or hooded variant. These models are skin friendly and washable at up to 95°C.

Colored trim for the collar and sleeves We use soft and fleecy polyester fabrics for trims around the collar and sleeves, providing cozy warmth around the neck and at the end of the sleeves. Our Twin-Star quality microvelour is an ideal choice for care-free washing and drying cycles. Our plush, fluffy Well-Soft quality is also a popular choice. Both offer complete color retention and offer excellent washability.

Label sewn into sleeve trim The sleeve trim is another ideal location for ever-present yet discreet marketing by adding a label. The photo shows the label sewn into the outside of the rolled-up left sleeve. The same label is sewn into the inside, so that it remains visible when the sleeve is rolled down. Motifs and symbols in woven labels should be at least 4 mm in height.

Colored hanger loop in the collar A colored hanger loop adds a unique accent. Above all, however, it provides a valuable service: in laundry and hotel operations, it enables staff to sort different sizes swiftly and keep them separate. Our hanger loops are chlorine-resistant, colored twill bands, sewn securely into the collar. Their woven cable structure ensures they are tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant.

Double-face bathrobes Double-face bathrobes comprise superimposed two towel layers. You can choose from different fabric colors and qualities to achieve your chosen look, feel and absorbency for both the inner and outer layers. For example, you could select a glossy satin fabric for the outer layer – or a tactile waffle piqué texture, as shown in the photo. If your products are destined for institutional use, it is important to consider each material’s suitability for its suitability in washing. Their popularity is perhaps best demonstrated by their tendency to disappear! Transponders indicate when bathrobes arrive at and leave a premises, from hotels to laundry buildings. We sew transponders securely into the bottom hem of bathrobes, which ensures they are barely noticeable – and can implement this even for small order volumes of around 100 units for our Twin-Star bathrobes.

Dyeing process: Twin-Star products require double dyeing, with reactive dyed cotton inners and dispersion dyed microvelour (polyester) outers. In the case of bi-color designs, the cotton inners are bleached. This means that bi-color bathrobes, for example, can be chlorine-treated in the course of laundry operations – just like pure white bathrobes. Tolerance: The colors achieved through double dyeing may vary from the reference sample by +/− 7%.

Yarns & fabrics Yarns Combed cotton is produced through an additional step between carding and spinning years. Toothed rollers remove short fibers from the card sliver and leave the fibers in the yarn fully aligned. This also compensates for any fluctuations in the thickness of the spinning yarn. Carded ring-spun yarns are ring-spun yarns twisted into each other at high speed, a process that makes them soft and fine yet exceptionally tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant. Before being spun, the fibers are carded, i.e. individually exposed, placed parallel to each other and arranged into a pile (card sliver). Floringo takes advantage of these properties and recommends the use of carded ring-spun yarns throughout the entire fabric, i.e. in pile, warp and weft. The resulting terry fabric is kind to the skin yet durable, such that the service life of this Floringo terry is at least 30% longer than terry textiles with open-end (OE) yarns. Microfiber is a particularly fine polyester fiber used, for example, in cosmetic towels and Twin-Star quality bathrobes. It creates soft, fluffy products with a very low weight compared to pure cotton fabrics. See the section on polyester for further details. Open-end (OE) yarns or rotor yarns are yarns produced with a rotor spinning machine. They are generally suitable for stiffer fibers that are not prone to curling. These yarns feel firmer than ring-spun yarn. Above all, they are far less robust. They are suitable as weft material but not for high-quality combed fibers; see the section on ring-spun yarn. Polyester is an often-underestimated fiber and deserves to have the record set straight. Polyester fibers are high-quality material and optimize the properties of terry fabrics in several respects. When used in the base fabric, polyester yarns help bath mats and towels stay in place better and dry faster. In bathrobes, including waffle piqué and Twin-Star versions, polyester fibers make a decisive contribution to long-lasting softness and also reduce shrinkage. This performance can be attributed to several properties: polyester fibers can be three times finer than silk with a breaking length of 40 –55 km. And, given their ability to elongate by 15–25%, they are both elastic and wrinkle-resistant. In addition, polyester fibers demonstrate good resistant against chemicals, light and climatic factors. Premium-Soft yarn is wonderfully soft yarn made from combed, long staple cotton. This yarn offers exceptional volume and incredible absorbency. These properties combine with relatively low weight, making Premium-Soft yarns ideal for bathrobe fabrics – for day-to-day institutional use and as high-quality incentives.

Fabrics Well-Soft is a fleecy, fluffy polyester fabric produced through a series of finishing processes. Despite its low water absorbency, it remains actively breathable in relation to sweat. Machine-knit Well-Soft fabric is snag-resistant and an ideal material for easy-to-maintain, cozy covers for both indoor and outdoor use. Twin-Star is a fabric specially developed by Floringo to combine long-lasting softness with snag resistance. Twin-Star fabric comprises pure microfiber outers and pure cotton inners. The microfiber ensures that the fabric remains soft, even after intensive laundry cycles, and dries faster than cotton. Combining outstanding comfort with time-efficient and energy-efficient washing, Twin-Star is an ideal choice for bathrobes destined for day-to-day institutional use. Velour is made from single-ply yarn and/or twisted yarn. The loops on the front side are shorn in an elaborate process that lends the material a particularly velvety look and pleasant feel. It is woven as single-ply terry or twisted terry on towel inners to ensure high absorbency. Single-ply terry is a woven terry fabric in which the loops are made from single-ply yarn. Its soft, fluffy feel is achieved through fulling, a special wet/boiling process. Single-ply terry has a plush feel and exhibits high absorbency. Knitted terry is machine-knit rather than woven. The loop is made of pure cotton and is characterized by threads that cannot be pulled, making it snag-free. The knitting process requires a polyester content of approx. 6–12% in the base fabric. It features twisted yarns in the pile, which lends the product a somewhat firmer feel and a unique, more robust character, including in terms of its look.

Finishing, seams & cuts Finishing AIRCO@ is a patented hot-air process that gently blows out lint. This special method of “fluffing up” fabric ensures that the pile feels particularly plush and voluminous, even before initial washing. A hydrophilic material is capable of absorbing a relatively large amount of moisture. A hydrophilic finishing process is applied to high-quality fiber materials, ensuring that even fabrics subjected to intense dyeing offer high absorbency and excellent hygienic properties.

A lockstitch is identical to a backstitch seam, which also helps to explain its purpose. It is similar to a running stitch but with an additional interim step in which the stitch moves back slightly to close small gaps. The result is a highly robust seam that we use for the cross seams in most of our towels. However, it is also used in embroidery to achieve fine contours and outlines. Cuts In a full-body cut, the body of the bathrobe is made from a single piece of terry fabric, which means it has no long side seams.

Turbang® finishing is a similar process to AIRCO finishing.

An overlock is a stitch that encloses and secures the raw edges fabric without pulling the thread too tightly. Overlock seams are ideal for flat woven fabric but are only suitable for looped terry fabrics in certain cases. With this in mind, we avoid smooth cut edges wherever possible to reduce the need for chain stitches to an absolute minimum.

Bathrobes Towels

In a raglan cut, the sleeves and shoulders are cut in a single piece. The sleeves attach directly to the collar, extending more or less diagonally across the shoulder area. Bathrobes with this cut are very easy to put on and fit comfortably over the chest and shoulders. It takes its name from Lord Raglan, an English noble who lost his arm in battle and allegedly invented this cut so that he could put his jacket on more easily. In a shawl collar, the upper collar and lapel are seamlessly joined. Similar to a shawl, the folded fabric runs around the neckline and merges at roughly chest level. A shawl collar can be finished with elements such as piping or Well-Soft trim.

Bath mats

In a chain stitch, the needle always pierces beside the exit point, which creates a loop – and, when repeated, a chain of loops. Our sewing machines enable us to produce elastic yet robust seams, such as down the long sides of towels. We double the seams and achieve a high-density chain stitch (of at least 3.5 stitches per centimeter).

Bathrobes with a kimono cut do not have any overlap around the collar. The benefit of this cut for day-to-day institutional use is that kimono bathrobes are easy to fold.

Blankets and covers

Piping and bias tape are strips of folded fabric used to finish or decorate the edges of fabric. Cuddle blankets and children’s hooded towels, for example, are finished with bias tape around all the edges after the edges have been chainstitched. Piping is a popular stylistic element for bathrobes and is useful for sorting laundry. A pressed seam is a particular important seam and is used, for example, on the long sides of bathrobes. Pressed seams are very robust and gentle on the skin. We use them in our skin friendly bathrobes, such as our Twin-Star products. We start by chain-stitching the edge before folding it over and sewing it firmly to the fabric, ensuring that the seam will not unravel or develop bulges.

Customization options

Seams and edges A double-stitched seam is applied along the long sides of towels. It involves folding in the edge of the towel and applying two parallel lines of dense chain stitching. This is important to ensure durability because towels made from terry fabric are particularly heavy when wet, meaning that their edges hit the washer drum.

In hooded bathrobes, the hood also forms the collar. This trendy cut is popular in sauna and spa facilities.
