PGA HOPE Serves Over 250+ Veterans

PGA Members are gifted Professionals, but did you know they can use their skills in a life-changing activity in the lives of Veterans?

PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.

The program introduces the game of golf through a developmental 6-8 week curriculum, taught by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency. Training includes learning about military culture and how to assist each person’s unique physical, learning, sensory, or cognitive need. All programs are funded by PGA REACH and affiliated with PGA REACH North Florida, so the cost of programming is free to all Veterans.

Throughout each session, PGA Professionals will teach and coach each Veteran how to swing, chip and, putt all at their own pace. These sessions serve not just how to be a better golfer, but how the game of golf can build community. Our Members leave each session being more than just a coach, but a friend.

“Like many of our PGA HOPE participants, I started the game later in life after serving in the Marine Corps. Golf is a great opportunity to get out, get active, and meet like-minded people.” - Bryan Kipnis, PGA HOPE Instructor With our seven sites for PGA HOPE training across the North Florida area including Jacksonville, Orlando, Melbourne, Ken Juhn Tampa, Citrus County, Sarasota, and Lakewood; we have over 50 fully trained and PGA HOPE certified Members. With this many certified, we are coaching approximately 250+ Veterans!

Golf is more than just a game, but a way we can teach the ones who’ve given so much. This is our way of saying “thank you.” We are so proud of each of our Members for taking steps to teach our Veterans the game we love most.
