Lalan Bessoni, Benny, the Inventor

Welcome to the
FTD EDUCAÇÃO CATALOGUE 2025
We are delighted to share with you our Highlights for 2025. This is a careful selection of our books, diverse collections, relevant themes, innovative projects and important authors.
For those who also love our bestseller Where’s the Book That Was Here?, with rights sold to five countries, we present three more incredible books written by Telma Guimarães: Once Upon a Time There Was a Jaguar, It’s time and While Mom was Sleeping. The first one tells the funny story of a mother and her children who receive an unexpected visit at bedtime. The second one is a narrative that playfully approaches the habit of reading and stimulates children’s imagination through the adventures of animals in the forest. The last one portrays the special time that a mother and son spend reading and explores the learning process.
Wetland is a wordless book that presents the passage of time and the daily life of a riverside community in the heart of the Pantanal, the largest floodplain on the planet. The transformation of the landscape affects the lives of the inhabitants: the water rises, the plains flood, and many families are isolated, in a silent dialogue with nature.
The narrative In the Invisible Threads, inspired by the poetry of Manoel de Barros, presents the bonds of affection that surround adoption. This book features illustrations by Grupo Matizes Dumont, a family collective of embroiderers who use embroidery as an artistic language and a tool for social and cultural transformation.
Last but not least, our highlights include the collection Asdrúbal, the Terrible. Four titles that are an allegory of the political, social and cultural context of Brazil in the 1960s and 1970s, the height of the military dictatorship in Brazil. This new edition, which brings back the original illustrations in a new graphic design, has as its main character a yellow monster that symbolizes military dictatorship and that must be ridiculed until it withers away.
Now it’s time for you to dive in and explore our books. Enjoy it!
All of the best,

WETLAND
Themes: customs, environment, read the pictures
Text and Illustrations: Patricia Auerbach and Roberta Asse
Format: 275 x 190 mm
Pages: 64
Cover: paperback
Age Group: 3 to 6
ISBN: 978-85-96-05305-1
ABOUT THE BOOK

Wetland is a wordless book that presents the passage of time and the daily life of a riverside community in the heart of the Pantanal, the largest floodplain on the planet. There, the distances are enormous, journeys are almost always made by boat, and students return home only on weekends and during school breaks. The transformation of the landscape affects the lives of the inhabitants: the water rises, the plains flood, and many families are isolated, in a silent dialogue with nature. This book tells the story of two friends experiencing the rhythm of the water during their vacation. While the river is not flooding, they play outside with their friends, and the adults do outdoor activities. During the flood, everyone stays at home. When the river water finally recedes, the children return to school and the families can spend time together again.

IT’S TIME!
Themes: animals, discoveries, imagination
Text: Jonas Ribeiro e Telma Guimarães
Illustrations: Esteban Vivaldi
Format: 205 x 275 mm
Pages: 32
Cover: paperback
Age Group: 3 to 6
ISBN: 978-85-96-05306-8
ABOUT THE BOOK

In this story written by Jonas Ribeiro and Telma Guimarães, author of the bestseller Where is the Book That Was Here?, the Owl, the Tuiuiú and the Parrot hear a strange noise in the forest and formulate several hypotheses about what that sound could be. The imagination and attitudes of each character reveal different ways of reacting to the unknown: curiosity, prudence, caution and fear. The creative dialogue between text and image is the book’s highlight. The text uses constructions that are repeated and that provokes expectations on the part of the reader with each turn of the page. Esteban Vivaldi’s illustrations explore the exuberance of Brazilian fauna and flora in a profusion of colors, movements and perspectives. While the expressiveness of the characters reinforces the nuances of the written narrative, the representation of what they are imagining amplifies the meaning of the words.
