A press statement from Newcastle University read: “Dr Trevor R Jackson was employed by Newcastle University as a senior lecturer for seven years. “The University was informed by the police of the criminal investigation and has been assisting them with their enquiries. Dr Jackson is no longer employed by the University.â€?

David Coverdale Editor A former biomedicine lecturer at Newcastle University has been accused of having sex with a 13-yearold girl. The Journal newspaper reported that Trevor Jackson, 46, is accused RI PDNLQJ Ă€ YH VHSDUDWH MRXUQH\V WR Jersey to have sex with an underage girl he had allegedly contacted over the internet. Jackson, of Lyndhurst Avenue, Jesmond, was arrested when police investigated the trips, allegedly made between 2005 and 2006. He was charged with a number of counts of sexual activity with a child following grooming and released on bail. The former University employee has since been further charged with offences of possessing indecent images of children after his computer was seized during the inquiry and later “interrogatedâ€? by IT experts. Jackson’s case has been adjourned for a further hearing this week Prosecutors say that the pair had sex sessions together in hotels every time he visited the island and had full intercourse on two occasions.
