Business Manager (new role) Treasurer
Advertisement
• To have an overview of the functioning and development of the magazine. • To facilitate the smooth running of the various non-editorial business functions, liaise with the volunteers responsible for advertising, finance, market sales and distribution, and support with volunteer recruitment and induction. • Report to monthly editorial meeting. • Organise and report to quarterly business meeting, including prepare agenda and take minutes. • Monitor post. • Send a copy of each magazine to the British Library (quarterly).
Requirements
• Enthusiasm for and interest in Moseley. • Ability to use or learn Microsoft Word and Excel, Facebook and Dropbox. • Good communication and problemsolving skills with keen eye for detail and ability to see the ‘bigger picture’. • Business, management or journalism experience not essential.
Time commitment
• Approximately 5-8 hours per month including: • Email and Facebook management - 1-2 hours per week. • Monthly editorial meeting - 2 hours. • Quarterly (often bi-annual) business meeting - 3 hours.
Tasks
• Bank cash from magazine sales at farmers market and other retail outlets. • Raise sales invoices for advertising in accounting software (setting up new customers where required). • Post purchase invoices for supplier payments. • Pay expenses when incurred by the team (on supply of valid receipt). • Liaise with accountants to provide information for annual accounts. • Report to B13 team on outstanding debtors and ensure follow-up to chase payment. • If available to do so collect post from Moseley Exchange. • File annual confirmation statement on Companies House.
Requirements
• Experience and knowledge of above financial procedures.
Time commitment
• As much or as little as you want – average minimum requirement 1 hour per week, depending on the time of year. • Attend quarterly business meeting, usually a Tuesday evening.
