Angelus (Protractum) is a three-minute piece written for solo performer and composed for neck and facial muscles. The piece can seen as an anonymous musical portrait of the performer performing the piece.
Notation
Eyebrows
Upper line: Eyebrows as high as possible.
Middle line: Neutral position.
Bottom line: Eyebrows as low as possible.
Eyelids
A note indicates to open eyes.
Crescendo: Gradually opening eyes.
Diminuendo: Gradually closing eyes.
Lips
Two diagonally upwards pointing arrows: Smile with lips parted and clenched teeth.
Cresendo: Gradually moving lips from neutral position to a smile.
Diminuendo: Gradually moving lips from a smile to neutral position.
Tremolo: Mute whispering.
Neck
+ : Vertical movement.
Upper line: Head pointing upwards as much as possible.
Middle line: Neutral position.
Bottom line: Head pointing downwards as much as possible.
- : Horizontal movement.
Upper line: Head pointing to the right as much as possible.
Middle line: Neutral position.
Bottom line: Head pointing to the left as much as possible.
Tremolo: Shake the head to the sides in an unsteady rhythm (like spasms, ticks or chills).
The piece is to be memorized.
