EDITEL AND ERSTE BANK COOPERATE IN SUPPLY CHAIN FINANCE PROCESSES Turning accounts receivable into liquidity is a winning proposition thanks to EDI-supported Supply Chain Finance. e-discounting is a new financial product developed by Intermarket Bank AG, the specialized banking institution of Erste Group and Sparkassen, in collaboration with the EDI services provider EDITEL. It has been created to make the invoicing process even more efficient and adds a rewarding factoring option.

e-discounting is a process in which suppliers sell their accounts receivable from selected clients to Intermarket Bank. Invoices are transferred to the client as EDI messages using the EDI service eXite® while Intermarket receives a copy. As always, eXite® ensures the security and traceability of exchanged data.

Does technology need to be consistent or adaptable Mag. Peter Mag. Gerd if it is to prepare busiFranzmair Marlovits nesses for the future? EDI, which has been an inherent part of sophisticated supply chains for decades, is in the privileged position to embody both these qualities. The wide range of products presented in this issue of EDITEL Journal highlights this duality. Among others, there are articles about “traditional” EDI projects in the F&B industry, e.g. at Donauturm Vienna and at Derksen, a wine retailer, as well as in the hair care business, illustrated by the hair salon chain KLIPP (page 4). In addition, our lead article shows how EDI, used with e-discounting, the new financing product by Intermarket Bank, can significantly simplify your Supply Chain Finance and increase your company’s liquidity (see page 1). This is EDI from a different point of view. A project with the packaging business packit! Upper Austria showcases how Electronic Data Interchange can increase efficiency and save money even during upstream activities of the procurement of goods process. You will find that article on page 2. The use of EDI in the automotive sector combines a long-standing tradition with constant innovations. We have compiled a series of short news about this sector on page 3. In the spirit of consistency, let me take this opportunity to announce yet another change: since I will be retiring next year, I am herewith handing over this editorial to Gerd Marlovits (shown in the picture above) who will be my successor as the CEO of EDITEL Austria (see press release under „In Brief“). Thank you for your loyalty throughout the years. I wish you successful business now and in the future and happy reading. Peter Franzmair

ABOUT INTERMARKET BANK Intermarket Bank is a subsidiary of Erste Group Bank AG and specializes in accounts receivable purchasing. It is an experienced and strong expert on the local market with a focus on factoring.

Suppliers and manufacturers have the option of having up to 100% of the amount due paid in real time. Nothing changes for clients: the invoices look the same as always, but accounts receivable will be directly transferred to the supplier’s or manufacturer’s account at Erste Bank or Sparkasse. “The most important benefit of e-discounting is the perfect combination of two worlds in an existing electronic solution: the electronic transfer of invoices in EDI format and the immediate conversion of accounts receivable into liquidity,” said Patrick Götz, Sales Board Member of Intermarket. “Electronic invoices will save businesses time and money and will also considerably increase transparency in corporate supply chains,” added Peter Franzmair, Managing Director of EDITEL. To benefit from e-discounting, businesses that are ready to use EDI do not need any additional implementation. Accounts receivable can be managed via a user-friendly online portal. n https://www.editel.eu/solutions/ e-discounting

T

he term “upstream“ means that upstream or preliminary suppliers are included in the value chain. This is achieved via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and GS1 identification standards. One of the pioneers in this area is the food manufacturer Spitz, who now relies on EDI with its suppliers at the upstream stage. packit!, a packaging business based in Upper Austria, is among the first to benefit from these new opportunities. This is how it works: after placing an order (ORDERS), Spitz receives a fully automated purchase order response (ORDRSP) from packit! as a confirmation. Thanks to an electronic despatch advice (DESADV) with integrated SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code), the merchandise can be traced without any system inconsistencies. This translates into dramatically increased efficiency, improved data quality and faster processing. For

packit!, a company that had previously not used EDI, the benefits are plain to see: orders no longer have to be entered manually, which saves considerable amounts of time and money. “Our close collaboration with EDITEL, Spitz and our ERP system provider during the implementation phase made the retrieval process very straightforward. We are now ready to implement the system with other clients as well,” said Manuel Schiffel, project manager at packit!, who is pleased with the new EDI infrastructure. n www.packit.at

zech Beskyd Fryčovice benefits C from EDI

The Czech company Beskyd Fryčovice, a.s., established in 1969, is a company with a long-time presence on the food and retail markets. Beskyd Fryčovice currently communicates with 12 partners using EDI (Ahold, Makro, Billa, TESCO, Globus, KFC and Rohlik.cz) to exchange orders, despatch advices, invoices, inventory reports (ORDERS, INVOIC, DESADV, APERAK, COMDIS, AUTACK, INVRPT, CONTRL) etc. EDI communication translates into strong and effective business relationships with key customers, including wholesale and retail chains. The company’s senior economist, Jakub Štegner, comments on this technology: “EDI is highly beneficial to our contract-based processes with our existing as well as our future clients.” n

raditional retail player streamT lines processes through EDI LABAŠ s.r.o. is one of the biggest Slovak food retail chains. It also operates a network of nearly 30 company-owned stores and another 800 franchise stores all over the Slovak Republic. Currently, the order and delivery of goods processes rely on EDI. In addition, a fully paperless invoicing system was implemented. At present, more than 60 major international and local suppliers are connected via EDI and the ultimate goal is to connect 150 to 200 of the company’s biggest suppliers. “We see EDITEL as a strategic partner and also as our first choice given its comprehensive EDI expertise. To us, EDI translates into tangible benefits in our contractual processes with existing suppliers as well as with new ones. NEWS AUTOMOTIVE EDITEL and TELEDIN join forces

EDITEL and TELEDIN, two leading EDI providers in the CEE region, have now bundled their know-how to offer businesses in-depth EDI expertise of three decades. It is a significant step forward in broadening its capabilities to provide advanced EDI solutions for the automotive and manufacturing industry in the CEE region. Jiří Tomášek, the

Just-in-time with EDI.

At the beginning of 2016, EDITEL won the tender as the new EDI provider for the automotive manufacturer, TPCA (Toyota Peugeot Citroën Czech s.r.o). “The service range, the potential and the professional approach of EDITEL within the scope of the entire tender process, coupled with 30 years of experience in the implementation of EDI projects, have met and exceeded our expectations”, says Aleš Höfner, General Manager of TPCA Kolín. One

of the first challenges for EDITEL in the cooperation with TPCA was the migration of data from the old EDI solution to the EDI service eXite® of EDITEL and the set-up of a new Web EDI p ortal, specifically for TPCA suppliers. Thanks to this portal, costs were reduced and unnecessary effort due to data errors was eliminated along the production chain. The communication with suppliers and business partners of TPCA via EDI services (Electronic Data Interchange) of EDITEL functions smoothly and just-in-time (JIT). n https://www.editel.eu/news/latest/tpca

Everything under control

Hi-Lex, an automotive supplier, works with approximately 60 different suppliers at its Hungarian manufacturing plant. With many of these suppliers, Hi-Lex has long-term agreements for recurring delivery volumes and the same product, while other suppliers receive only one-off orders. In an effort to keep a good overview and to quickly and easily identify

d elivery volumes for specific suppliers, Hi-Lex wanted to find a transparent and controllable option for its supply chain. To achieve just that, EDITEL has developed a customized Web EDI solution which makes it possible to easier track orders and it also allows the company to handle long-term and one-off suppliers differently, e.g. when it comes to payment terms and contractual specifications. n https://www.editel.eu/news/latest/hi-lex

ustrian cuisine paired with Viennese hospitality, all served at a height of 170 meters? This is exactly what patrons expect from the restaurant located at the very top of the Vienna Danube Tower. To ensure smooth business operations, organization and logistics at the restaurant must function like clockwork. By introducing its new ERP system early this year, Donauturm Aussichtsturm- und Restaurant Betriebs GmbH strived to make its procurement of goods processes better and more efficient. This is where Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) came in. The EDI service provider EDITEL was entrusted with implementing a fully automated procurement of goods system.

orders from wholesalers such as Metro, REWE and Transgourmet because orders (ORDERS) no longer need to be entered manually. These advantages are also true for despatch advices (DESADV) which can now be consolidated and sent to the client at the touch of a button. Automatic invoicing processes (INVOIC) have also become more convenient. In addition, the use of EDI has had “a very positive impact on payment behavior,” said Gerhard Retter, IT manager at Derksen. As a client, he was very pleased with the way all challenges that arose during the implementation phase, e.g. the sparkling wine tax, inconsistent payment conditions or rebates in kind, were “perfectly solved thanks to the good collaboration between EDITEL and Nittmann & Pekoll.” Gerhard Retter’s summary of the successful project: “Even though the implementation phase for EDI is costly and time-consuming in the beginning, it pays off every single day. In times like these, there is no way around automation.” n

Flying high and flying fast as well Since mid-April, all article master data (PRICAT) and despatch advices (DESADV) at the Danube Tower Restaurant are being exchanged through a single source via the EDI service eXite® by EDITEL.
