ETRO Austria is one of the local pioneers in this area as it has been relying on EDI technology since the early 90s. At METRO, the challenges related to orders and deliveries are, first and foremost, the large range of goods and the resulting high number of suppliers. Another challenge is maintaining a detailed overview of ongo-

ing EDI processes. This is why METRO Austria introduced an EDI monitoring solution early this year which makes order and delivery processes more transparent. Always up to speed … The digital transformation is in full swing in all industries and business sectors. In the area of merchandise logistics, this disPeter Franzmair ruption has been going on for quite CEO, Editel Austria a few years. In addition to embracing this transformation, the top priorities in this industry are the correct handling of digital data, which must be checked, processed, exchanged and then processed once again. How can businesses keep an eye on everything and ensure that all processes, from ordering to invoicing, run smoothly and without a glitch? METRO has found an answer to this question: Business Monitoring Solution by EDITEL. You might enjoy reading more about this in our lead article on page 1. And the Slovak electronics retailer NAY has made its business processes more efficient now and in the future by connecting its ERP system to its EDI structure. That article is on page 3. In addition to introducing innovations, such as our EDI service eXite® (more information on this is available in the enclosed special supplement), keeping existing EDI processes up and running is key. SPAR has taken an important step forward by insisting on the use of the goods received message RECADV. The implementation of this EDI message permanently solves the problem of volume-related inconsistencies. In an interview on page 4, Daniel Schuster of SPAR Austria shares his insight into this approach. All this goes to show that there are myriad opportunities of managing data in a transparent manner.
