1867年，李鴻章（孫海英飾）上書，清政府下令建立船政學堂，由洋人講授西洋海軍知識。鄧世昌（陸毅飾）前來報考，得劉步蟾兄妹相助， 一鳴驚人。1877年，鄧世昌送同學們赴英國皇家海軍學院深造。4年之後，鄧世昌代表朝廷迎接同學凱旋。他在倫敦街頭偶遇劉步蟾妹妹（龔 潔飾），並教訓了挑舋的洋人。畢業會上，鄧世昌、劉步蟾與伊東佑亨（夏雨飾）、東鄉平八郎的對話，為日後兩國海上交鋒埋下伏筆…… Around a hundred years ago, China was a poor and backward nation. While suffering all kinds of humiliation under the invasion by Western imperialist powers, the Qing dynasty was forced to launch a Westernization Movement, aiming to learn advanced technology from the West including building a modern navy. In 1877, a group of Chinese teenagers went to the United Kingdom and studied in Britannia Royal Naval College with the hope that China would become strong and prosperous one day. Over the seas, they saw the newest warships at that time and learnt the most advanced knowledge; then they themselves sailed ironclads which the Qing dynasty purchased at great expense back to China…

中美電影節「希望曙光」慈善演唱會圓滿落幕。
去年演唱中美電影節主題曲－「永恆的 畫面」的華誼 兄弟音樂旗下歌手、中國「超 女」何潔今年再次受邀在開幕式上獻唱並獲 頒中美電影節推廣大使獎項；並且為響應中 美電影節慈善活動的號召，華誼兄弟與電影 節組委會聯合主辦，由何潔與尚雯婕、果味 VC共同舉行了中美電影節「希望曙光」慈善 演唱會，將愛心送到雲南偏遠的山區中。

中美電影節與中央新影集團合作 推出「新影劇場」 在第八屆中美電影節上，中國中央新 影集團與電影節主辦方美國鷹龍傳媒集團 舉辦了合作簽約儀式。雙方將合作在傳統 的美國電影院、電視台和新媒體 三個平台 上建立「新影劇場」，通過電影院展映、電 視台展播和新媒體點播等形式，集中展示 優秀的中國紀錄影片。 剛剛在本屆中美電影節上憑藉「變暖 的地球」獲得最佳年度紀錄片的中國中央 新影集團副總謝九如先生和中美電影節主 席、美國鷹龍傳媒總裁蘇彥韜先生共同出 席了簽約儀式。 合作雙方表示首先在美國藝術類院線 定期推出「新影劇場」展映最新的作品，然 後在電視台以及新媒體平台開闢每周固定 的「新影劇場」電視專欄，並且表示將嘗試 通過商業運作來拓展中國優秀紀錄片在美 洲的影響力。

中美電影節舉辦 “希望曙光”慈善演唱會 中美電影節組委會聯手華誼兄弟公司舉辦“希望曙光慈善演唱公益”演唱會，透過中國駐洛杉磯總領事館轉交十萬 元的善款給雲南貧困縣，用以兒童教育，籌建中美電影節電子圖書館。中國駐洛杉磯總領事卞立新、中美電影節主席蘇 彥韜共同出席演唱會。華誼兄弟公司旗下知名歌星何潔、尚雯婕、果味VC樂隊組合義演獲得全場爆滿觀眾的熱情支持。 洛杉磯美國華人聯合總會、美國華人社團聯合會、蘇浙滬同鄉會當地多家僑團和美國亞洲文化藝術基金會共同參與並支 持了捐助。

2012年中美電影節 優秀大片火熱放映中 在中國國家廣電總局、中國駐洛杉 磯總領事舘的大力支持下， 2012年第 八屆中美電影節在好萊塢隆重開幕了！ 本屆電影節在洛杉磯、舊金山等地展映 多部熱門中美電影，舉辦多場各具特色 的大型研討活動。11月1日到11月24日， 在Alhambra的愛德華電影院, Pasadena 的萊姆利電影院以及Chino Hills的哈肯 斯電影院有不同場次的大片放映，包括 亮相本次中美電影節的《白鹿原》、《銅 雀台》、《龍門飛甲》、《金陵十三釵》 等國產巨片以及《飢餓游戲》《超凡蜘 蛛俠》等好萊塢票房大片。除此之外， 本次電影節還進入多所美國名校校園， 舉辦電影放映會和研討會，其中包括加 州理 工學院、南加州大學、加州大學爾 灣分校、加州大學聖地牙哥 分校等。中 美電影節創辦於2005年，已成為中美電 影界交流的盛會，今年邁入第八屆的中 美電影節參展影片超 過150部，吸引了 來自中美兩地數十家電影公司、一千多 位 知名電 影人報名參加，盛 況空前。欲 知詳細電影節的詳細情況，歡迎登陸中 美電影節官方網站：w w w.cafilmfestival.org。

Jane saw Lang Lang as her idol, longing for his autogragh; Fred was absent-minded, playing with his paper plane; Georgie was busy with work, completely ignorant of her children’s feelings. Then they were brought into the cartoon being screened. A journey began…In the fireworks and music, they returned to the London music hall, Lang Lang and the children looked at Georgie as if nothing had happened. But Georgie began to think that all that she had was an illusion. Then she decided to put aside her work and house, and took her children to buy ice cream!

The father kept using his son’s instant messaging software to communicate with the son’s friends to experience his son’s life. 電影是激勵人類進步的科學 獨家專訪奧斯卡評委會前主席席德·甘尼斯 在聽覺藝術的烘托下以視覺語 言引起觀眾共鳴，這就是電影的科 學。如果說其他學科所從事的是關 係人類進步的科學的話，電影就是 記錄和讚美這種進步並激勵人類繼 續進步的關於美的藝術與科學。因 此，通常人們所說的「奧斯卡評委 會」的全稱叫作「電影藝術及科學 研究院」（Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences）。 -席德·甘尼斯作 為當代 好萊 塢電 影 圈中最 著名的製片人 之一，席德·甘尼斯， 原名悉尼·甘尼斯（Sidney Ganis） 製作了太多的堪稱好萊塢大片的鴻 篇巨制。諸如《憨 直 舞男》（D e u c e Bigalow：Male Gigolo）、《父子真 情》（Big Daddy）、《迪茲先生》 （Mr. Deeds）、《喬裝大師》（The Master of Disguise）、《阿基拉和拼 字比賽》等 等膾炙 人口的暢銷片都 是他的驚世之作。 2005年，德高望重的席德·甘 尼斯被一 致 推舉 為「電 影 藝 術及科 學 研 究 院」即「奧 斯 卡 評 委 會」主 席。此後，他擔任「漫威娛樂公司」 （Marvel Entertainment）董事長並 兼任世界各地許多電影節的共同主 席。2 011年，席 德·甘尼 斯 應 邀 擔 任好萊塢第七屆中美電影節榮譽主 席。 前不久，《城市雜誌週刊》採訪 了這位在電影領域裡 以 最為令人 難 以 置信的姿態攀登上了最 巔峰的傳 奇式人物。
有求必應的咖啡郎 人說，好萊塢是個生產電影奇 蹟 的 工 廠。其 實，這 話 只 說 對了一 半，豈不知與 那些以 虛構的故事為 代 表的電影奇蹟相比，好萊塢締造 得更多的，還 是現實生活中它的電 影人們的傳奇故事，其中，席德·甘 尼斯的故事就最為令人難 以 置信： 誰能想到，這位如今傲立電影世界 之巔的巨人的起步點竟是個辦公室 裡人稱「Office Boy」的「咖啡郎」。 席 德·甘尼 斯 19 4 0 年生 於 紐 約的布魯克 林，祖 上 是希臘移民。 高中 畢 業 後，他 受 僱 於當時 的 L e e S olte r s電影公司，充當了一個辦公 室裡專門給人端茶送水燒咖啡的「 咖啡郎」。後來有一天，老闆問他的 「咖啡郎」，「你能不能進來幫我整 理整理卷宗」？「咖啡郎」說「能」。 再後來又有一天，導演問「咖啡郎」 ，「你 願 不 願 意 跟 我 出 趟 外 景，幫 我打個下手什麼的」？「咖啡郎」說 「願意」。沒多久，公司裡問他「能 不能」或者「願不願意」的人漸漸多 起來，他這裡統統來者不拒，左一個 「能」、右一個「願意」，成了公司裡 最有活力和最有人 緣的人物。等 到 公司裡上上下下沒有一個人不誇這 位不言不語有求必應而且辦事利落 的「咖啡郎」的時候，他們的「咖啡 郎」早已不 再僅僅 是 個叫人不屑一 顧的「咖啡郎」了，他暗用功夫，把公 司裡從編劇到導演乃至到後期製作 的每一個細小環節都掌握得滾瓜爛 熟。最難能可貴，這期間，席德·甘 尼斯記住了他為之端茶送水的常與

說，「夢那東西當然做得越大越好。 但 好多人 的問題在 於，他們只善於 做 大 夢，但卻 把自己做 夢的同時應 該做好的小事沒做好。我不是，我做 夢 那 段時間我 的工作目標是，茶 要 熱，水要溫，咖啡要新，動作要快， 無論哪個人 要，我 都能保證在一 分 鐘之內送到他伸手就能抓到的位置 上。」與此同時，他留心每一個人的 每一項 工作和每一個舉 動，留神他 們桌 上的每一份文件和盡可能多的 每一個內容，這 些他都悄悄記 在心 裡，等到別人喊他「幫忙」的時候， 他便一上手就能「駕輕就熟」，而他 的每一次「駕輕就熟」又給他的下一 次被人叫去「幫忙」的可能性做了鋪 墊。在他看來，那些表面上被人叫去 「幫忙」的時刻，正是他埋頭奮進的 機會。 小 處 入手，步 步 推 進。市 場 部 的「駕 輕 就 熟」不光叫每 一 個人 服 氣，還 創造了該公司有史 以 來 最為 優異的成績。接下來的日子自然「人 往高處走」，而且一步一個台階，前 者 總是後者的鋪 墊：盧卡斯電 影公 司（Lu c a sfilm）資 深副總裁的位 置 是後來派拉蒙電影公司（Paramount Pictures）總裁的鋪墊，派樂蒙電影 公司總裁的資歷又是哥倫比亞電影 公司（Columbia Pictures）市場發行 部部長的鋪墊。當然，總裁換部長， 也許 有些不划算，但你 若 知道他後 來終於坐在了哥倫比亞電影公司董 事主席的位 置 上的時 候，你便 知道 什麼是運動場上的助跑了。更何況， 這樣的助跑不是一次，而是兩次。

歡小說，他也許不在意舞蹈，我說不 准不欣 賞油畫，他 大概 對音樂沒有 感覺，這些都是事實。但我敢說，我 們這個世界上很 少有人討厭電影。 這是電影優越於其他任何藝術形式 的特 有的藝術 地位。正因為這樣的 藝 術 地位，一 部電 影承 載的是 什麼 樣的信息就成了問題的關鍵了。」 這位涉足電影三十年的領軍藝 術家對電 影的理 解雖然高深，但卻 並不怎麼難以理解。很顯然，他力圖 闡述的是一個真正的藝術家特有的 社會責任感，這與當今某些鼓吹「唯 美」的藝術家們不負責任的「藝術行 為」或曰「行為藝術」形成了一對鮮 明的對照。 在席德·甘尼斯看來，無論是愛 情片、紀錄片、歷 史片、武打片、戰 爭片、懸疑片抑或是驚悚片，也無論 你是歌頌者，還是批判者，你都有讓 你的作品承載足以讚美社會「進步」 以及足以激勵社會「進步」的積極信 息的社會責任。反之，你的情節再激 烈，你的畫面再生動，你的主角再大 牌，你的投資再宏偉，你的作品也不 會給人留下太深的印象。他說，「與 此 相比，那些幾 十年後故事還能叫 你歷歷在目的，才是真正的‘好萊塢 大片’ 。同樣，好多明明呼聲很高以 至於票房記錄也不錯的影片卻最終 拿不到‘奧斯卡’ ，有的甚至連入圍 的緣分都沒有，也是這個道理。 ‘奧 斯 卡’有它自己不被 顛 覆的審美標 準。」 席德·甘尼斯說。 3D只是工具；電影要故事
電影的特殊地位和歷史使命 果然，199 6 年席德·甘尼斯辭 去了哥 倫比亞電影公司董事主席一 職，成 立了該公司旗 下活躍 至 今 的 「天降娛樂公司」（Out of the Blue Entertainment），而前面介紹過的幾 部好萊塢大片《憨直舞男》、《父子 真情》、《迪茲先生》、《偽裝大師》 、《阿基拉和拼字比賽》正是該公司 早 期的優 秀 作品。按照他的進取邏 輯，這些又為他日後獲得「奧斯卡評 委會」主 席的職位做 好了堅 實的鋪 墊。 76 / 2012年中美電影節
應 記者要求，他 為電 影下了這 樣一 個定 義：「在 聽覺 藝 術 的烘 托 下以視 覺語言引起觀 眾共鳴，這就 是電影的科學。如果說其他 學 科所 從事的是關係人類進步的科學的 話，電影就是記錄和讚 美 這種 進步 並激勵人類繼續進步的關於美的藝 術與科學。在這裡，它的核心詞是‘ 進步’和‘繼續進步’ 。」想必集三十 年電影工作之大成，席德·甘尼斯無 疑對電影最有發言權。「你可能不喜
他指出，電影的發 展離不開科 技的進步。近代由於電 腦科 技的問 世 和迅 速 進步，電 影的生產 實現了 革命性的進步。比如，按現有的電腦 動畫合成技術，只要有一個人，再有 一隻虎，你盡可以合成無論是「人訓 虎」還是「人打虎」抑或是「虎吃人」 的任 何複雜鏡頭。而這些在若干年 前，除了冒險 實 拍之 外 幾 乎沒有 可 能。同 樣，電 腦 編 輯 技術 的 進 步 也 大大縮短了後期製作所需要的時間 以及減低了勞動強度。「三十年前往 往需 要忙一 個月的工作，如今 一 天
甚至幾個小時乃至幾分鐘內就能完 成。」 尤其值得指出的是最近幾年興 起的3 D 技術，其效果 之奇甚至令人 震 撼，它將電 影 技術 推 向了一 個 歷 史 的 新 紀 元。「但當 最初 的 新 鮮 感 迅 速 退去 之後，觀 眾們便會 很快發 現，3 D不過 是一個手段或者叫工具 而 已，好比 是 一 把 螺 絲 刀，過 去 是 手扭的，現在變成電動的了。可假如 沒有螺絲釘，你用它來扭什麼呢？」 席德·甘尼斯斯認為，對於電影技術 而言，這個螺絲釘就是故事。在他看 來，拍一部沒有故事的一流3 D電影 就好比領觀 眾進了一家一流的五 金 工具店，儘管琳瑯滿目、應有盡有， 但它們卻一律躺在那裡沒有事幹。 一 句話，工具 是電 影的「外在」，而 故事才是電影的「內在」。 「我倒 是 感 到了一種 壓 力。相 信所有有才華的電影人都已經感覺 到了這種壓力，莫大的壓力。」 席 德·甘尼斯說，「縱觀好萊塢這許多 年，面對電影的技術進步，它的‘內 在進步’卻明顯落後於它的‘外在進 步’ 。如果說3D使得電影技術登峰造 極的話，我們需要的是3A級的電影 故事來與之並駕齊驅。」
是電影世界的最理想狀態。為此，他 甚至做了一次 大 膽實踐，2005年夏 天，他去中國的上海-無錫一帶做了 一次為期兩週的學術交流，他認為， 那 裡 將來有可能成 為中國的「電 影 之都」。

他說，「關鍵是劇本。現在的問 題是，美國編劇寫的是美國故事，拍 成的是 美國電 影，看電 影的是 美國 觀眾；中國的編劇寫的是中國故事， 拍成的是中國電 影，看電 影的是中 國觀 眾。我們能不能嘗試 把兩者之 間的界限劃得 不那麼分明呢？能不 能將兩者互融成這樣一種境界，即‘ 編劇’寫‘故事’ ，拍成‘電影’給‘觀 眾’看呢？這裡， ‘編劇’ 、 ‘導演’ 、 ‘ 觀眾’都是不以族裔劃分的‘人’ ，圍 繞著的是關於‘人’的故事。」 為了實現 這樣的互融理念，這 位當代電影巨人應邀擔任了2011年 第七屆「中美電影節」（CAFF）榮譽 主席，因此他對「中美電影節」的理 解也融 入了他自己為之奮鬥若 干年 的追求：「‘ 中美電 影節 ’不僅僅 是 聯繫太平洋兩岸電影人的橋樑和供 他們各自發揮的平台，她還 應該 是 一種催化劑，讓太平洋兩岸的電影人 在催化劑的作用下實現有關電影的 從‘外在’到‘內在’的互融。」

話 題 延伸 到 中 國 文化 和 中 國 電 影，席 德·甘尼 斯 對 此 另 有一 番 高論。他說，「我對中國文化了解不 多，但卻 對 其 極 有 興 趣。中國 有 五 千 年的歷 史，五千 年的歷 史就意味 著五千 年的故事，而電 影賴 以征 服 觀眾的，不是電影的外殼，恰恰是故 事。」他認為，未來的好萊塢電影應 當嘗試 與 別族 之間的文化 互融，比 如與中國文化互融。「讓中國電影用 上 美國技術，再讓 美國電 影加 入中 國元素。」

中美電影節將關懷帶入邊遠山區 CAFF Charity Events
中美電影節關心教育、關懷弱勢、回饋社會一 直是中美電影節每年的指定項目。過去的幾年，中 美電影節組委會曾經捐款幫助美國卡翠娜颶風受災 戶和中國四川汶川大地震的災民，也幫助了中國甘 肅貧困山區的失學兒童，還在中國偏遠的重慶山區 籌建了中美電影節電子圖書館。我們每年都會增加支 持力度，到目前為止，已成功建立了三家電子圖書館，繼續幫助貧困學童獲得更多的 知識，與世界接軌。而今年，我們與華誼兄弟唱片聯手舉行了「希望曙光」慈善演唱 會，透過中國駐洛杉磯總領館的居中協調，我們將演唱會的盈餘全數捐贈到雲南省金 平、麻栗坡兩個貧困縣，幫助當地同胞改善目前生活。中美電影節組委會匯聚了多位 美國奧斯卡獎得主，以及中港臺多位重量級的影壇代表人物共同參與。我們熱忱地歡 迎更多熱心公益、熱愛電影、關心文化藝術交流的朋友們加入我們的行列。 Chinese American Film Festival focuses on educational improvements, community wellness and poverty reductions. Annually we aim to contribute to the society. In the past years, CAFF committee has donated for victims of Hurricane Katrina, China SiChuan Earthquake and more. This year, H. Brothers and us host a “Dawn of Hope” concert; with Chinese Consulate in LA’s fully support and help, we donate all profit of concert to YunNan countryside village to improve their living environment. CAFF has built e-libraries for the students in ChongQing countryside village to assist them with better education. So far, we have successfully built three e-libraries for students in the poor mountain side of China to give them a connection to the outside world. CAFF Committee brings Oscar winners and many renowned filmmakers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan together to support the events. We sincerely invite you to join us and gather our efforts to create a better world.
