Find a recipe for 4 people and rewrite it for 8 people. As an extension…can they rewrite it for 6 people or 5 people?
4 people
125g flour
50g butter
75g sugar
3 eggs
100g choc drops

8 people
250g flour
100g butter
150g sugar
6 eggs
200g choc drops
Find a dice and a pack of cards, removing the jacks, queens and kings.
Take turns to pick a card and roll the dice. Multiply the two numbers. Write down the answer…keep a running total.
The first to go over 301 wins the game!

You will need a calculator, paper and 2 coloured pens.

Take it in turns to choose a fraction.
E.g. 3/5

Use the calculator to convert it to a decimal (ie 3÷5= 0.6) and mark it on the line with a coloured dot.
The aim is to get three crosses in a row without any of your opponent’s marks in between.
Use only the number 4 each time.
You can use any of the 4 operations + - x ÷
Try to make every number from 1 up to 100!
E.g. 1 =4 ÷ 4
2 =(4 + 4) ÷ 4
Roll two dice and multiply the numbers to get your score. Roll one of the dice again….if it is even then double your score, if it is odd then treble it.
Keep a running total - the first player to get over 301 wins!

Draw a grid that is 6 squares by 7 squares and fill it with numbers under 100 but don’t repeat any of the numbers!
Take turns to roll 3 dice (or roll one dice 3 times).
Try to make one of the numbers on the grid using all three digits
E.g. if you roll 2,4 and 5 you could do 2 x 4 x 5 = 40 or (4 + 5) x 2 = 18
If you have one of those numbers on the grid then cover it or cross it out.
The winner is the first person to get four of their counters in a straight line!

When you are out shopping and see a shop with items in the sale, ask them to work out what items would cost with:

50% off
25% off
10% off
5% off
Alternatively you could do this using a catalogue at home!
