Nearly one in five adults in Louisiana experiences hearing loss, and countless others struggle with allergies, sinus issues, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions. Yet many patients face long wait times and

fragmented care, often needing to be seen by multiple specialists in different locations. Recognizing this challenge, SLENT (South Louisiana Ear, Nose, and Throat) has expanded to Hammond, bringing expert ENT and Audiology care under one roof.

SLENT’s SOUND INVESTMENT revolutionizes ENT and Audiology care in Tangipahoa Parish.

Seamless All-in-One Care

One of the most significant advantages of SLENT’s Hammond location is its in-house referral system. Patients often arrive for one issue—such as allergies or dizziness—only to discover they need ENT or Audiology care. Instead of waiting weeks or months for a referral to another practice, SLENT streamlines the process, ensuring immediate, coordinated treatment without ever leaving the office.

The Hammond Clinic is designed for efficiency and convenience. With ample parking and quick appointment turnarounds, the friendly team at SLENT offers allergy testing, hearing evaluations, and immunotherapy shots without the typical delays.

Dr. Matthew William Cooper, MD, is an otologist and otolaryngologist who brings a new level of expertise to the Hammond area. He specializes in tympanoplasty (eardrum reconstruction), mastoidectomy (treatment for chronic ear infections), skull base procedures, and cochlear implant surgery, making life-changing ear surgery available locally for the first time. He served as a firefighter and first responder before completing his ENT residency and advanced otology fellowship at Duke University.

Dr. Jorge “JJ” Martinez, Au.D., F-AAA, is a doctor of audiology with a passion for cutting-edge hearing care. He received his bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and his doctorate degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He completed his internship at Audiology Associates, where he gained hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating complex hearing and balance disorders. Now, as Director of Audiology at SLENT he continues to provide exceptional care using the latest advancements in hearing technology.

Dr. Jeni A. Dunnington, Au.D., CCC-A, F-AAA, is an experienced audiologist specializing in hearing and balancing disorders. She is board certified with the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA). Her focus is on personalized, patient-centered care; ensuring that every patient receives a hearing solution perfectly tailored to their needs.

SLENT’s team of specialized providers ensure that patients receive world class care without having to leave town.

Points of Difference: Unmatched Care

While SLENT Hammond integrates the latest advancements in ENT and Audiology, its actual distinction lies not in the technology but in how patients are cared for. As Dr. Martinez, Au.D., says, “The highlight isn’t on the widget itself, rather our services.” SLENT doesn’t just offer the most advanced diagnostic tools, custom hearing aid molds, or in-house specialty referrals- it provides a seamless patient-centered experience that ensures each guest receives the precise care they need without unnecessary delays or hurdles.

By eliminating long wait times, offering specialized surgical and nonsurgical treatments under one roof, and committing to precisiondriven solutions, SLENT Hammond is raising the bar. It’s not about having the best technology but knowing how to use it to transform lives.
