The Alchemy of Giving

AS YOU READ THESE WORDS, what is the thought running in the background of your mind? “Will the next few words benefit me? Is there something in here for me? Will this article make me understand better, or live better, or laugh better?” Naturally. That is why you are spending the time to read this article. And as I write these words, my background thoughts are hovering at, “I hope someone reads them, understands them, appreciates them.”

We are both on the same side of the road: not crossed over as of yet, the traffic is still going steady. You want to receive wisdom. Nothing wrong with that. I want to receive the fulfilment of conveying wisdom. Nothing wrong with that either.

We do not have to feel guilty, neither you nor me. For this is the conditioning embedded in our DNA. Give to take. Sometimes, only take.

And sometimes, take as much as you can.

THE”TAKE” ARCHETYPE Think about it: in almost every situation of life, the “take” syndrome runs in the backdrop.

I shower: I take purity. I eat breakfast: I take nourishment. I drop the kids off at school: I take the knowledge they are being prepared for life. I conduct a meeting: I take power.

I join a meeting: I hope to take credit. It gets subtler. I give a yoga class: I take the reverence of students. I do a meditation: I take calmness.

I sit cross-legged before Mt. Kailash: I take energy.

If we go slightly further, we might notice that the take intention is different when we put ourselves in a situation we like as compared to when we find ourselves in a situation we do not like. I choose to surf today; it is a conscious choice to “take” the thrill. I am in a job I do not like; I take the money, the indirect take. I drive my mother-in-law to the hospital: I hope my spouse will appreciate it; the hope to take.

Even our so-called selfless actions can be tinged with take. I give money to charity; I partake of the verdict that I am a good person.

I house-sit my sister’s children; I partake of her gratitude and the verdict that I am caring. There are also traditions in which it is customary to give something whenever you go to a holy place or person, even if a flower or a coconut, in order to take back blessings.

How about we honestly look at all our actions from the moment we woke up to now (or from yesterday or the week before, if you like), and see how our take motivation propelled us, using the above examples as our cue. Let us also check on the balance between our intention to give and to take in life. Spend a few minutes to do this. Remember, no mask, no fear, no justification and no guilt.

SHIFTING TO “GIVE” Having seen the various shades of our “take,” is it possible that we shift over to “give?”

Completely, from the bottom of our hearts?

Why would we do that?

Because that is the secret to a happier world.

Truly, that’s no cliché. Imagine all those “take” situations of yours from the point of feeling of “give,” and you might discover a completely new way of living and helping others live.

Visualize this: you go to a doctor for the pain in your little toe and he makes it heal. You give him his fees, but more than that you give your full gratitude, 101 percent, from the bottom of your heart. You did not have a life-threatening condition, yet you allow this to be your response, at first consciously and, with time, spontaneously. This does not require hugging the doctor or saying thank you a million times, just the sincerity of your intention does it.

So what happens? Your giving becomes bigger than your taking. And where does this take the world? If you do this well, the doctor will feel more fulfilled than any fees could ever make him feel, for he will not experience the energetic depletion that often goes along with being a health-giver. On the contrary, he will feel energized. This will help him to treat the next patient better, to give more.

The same principle can be applied to every situation in life. But there is a catchphrase here: “from the bottom of the heart.”

Not from the bottom of the mind. The mind will follow. It is the heart that has to agree first.

Can we let go of the desire, the feeling, the embedded instinct in us to take from the world around us? And instead, can we create a new feeling, a new instinct, a new intention in our heart: to give, give and give. Can we create that state where everything seems to flow out of our heart into the world?

Listen to your Emotions BY

ALWAYS FIND THE ATTRIBUTING meaning to the pain in life — it helps to overcome it. Keep in mind as difficult and overwhelming as our feelings may seem at times, they are not facts.

Emotions are messages trying to tell you something. We have to learn how to work with and not against them.

Play detective and figure out what it is coming from and scan your body to find out what area it is stuck in! The lens you see the world in shapes your reality. Emotions are necessary, for they show us what we care about.

My amazing therapist taught me, “Emotions such as sadness, anger, love, happiness and more (I could go on forever) all have a real purpose — they show us what we value and truly, passionately care about. We all have our FABs: Feelings, Attitudes and Behaviors. They are your treasures, and no one can take them away. You are in control.”

Challenge your thoughts and emotions. Stop foreboding your own joy. Staying in the now is all we have. Life goes by with or without you being in the present. Spiritual growth initiated resistance for those who are not ready so start working on creating lasting changes. Gratitude journaling, meditating, and random acts of kindness are some great ideas. Value the integrity of your spirit.

We do not have to give away our dollars, though we may certainly give what we do not need. We do not even have to give of our time, though we may certainly do so if needed. We simply have to create that state, that flow, that intention to give. The rest will happen on its own.

THE BOTTOM LINE Now, to get to this point, we have to first ask, why do we always want to take and to hoard? The answer is easy: to feel safe and secure. To feel full. Whether through objects, opinions, feelings or something else. Many of us know that this gets us nowhere; irrespective of what we receive, we stay in the craving. Yet, we don’t seem to be able to stop. Someone who knew the way said, “In order to be enlightened, the desire for enlightenment has to go.”

There is a fundamental principle involved in coming into the state of giving.

We can give only if we feel that we are not being depleted by the giving, that we can continue to be full despite the giving. We have to be convinced that there is never any diminishing, there never was any diminishing, there never will be any diminishing.

This has to be the state of our emotions, our thoughts, our energy.

It is not only the enlightened sages who reach this state of awareness. Slowly, by degrees, we can teach ourselves to feel this way. We can teach ourselves to remain in 8 WWW.EDGEMAGAZINE.NET

through the front door, let them peak inside, and then let them out the back door. Stop trying to control them — allow. They are there for a reason. Be an observer and check the facts in every situation. Step outside of your own conditions and evaluate others. Life would be pointless without pain; we need it to grow.

Scan your body and tap in, listen. What do you feel? Where do you hold your emotions, in the shoulder, back, feet? Relax and intentionally visualize sending the heaviness out of your body.

Self-care. The best version of you presents itself when you

the energy of fulfilment. The feeling will follow, the thoughts will follow, the words and actions will also follow. The mind, the body, the senses will all follow.

CREATING THE STATE OF GIVE-NESS Here is how we begin to do it. Think about something that makes you feel so-o-o fulfilled. Maybe a perfect cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. Maybe that sunrise you saw on the Andes a few years ago. Maybe the paycheck you receive at the end of the month. Maybe the words of praise from your boss. Whatever, it does not matter.

What matters is the next step.

After bringing to mind that which makes you feel fulfilled, drop the event.

Completely. Like you would erase a whiteboard, from your mind erase the “thing” that makes you feel fulfilled: the coffee, the paycheck, the sunrise. And only allow the fulfilment itself to remain. Allow only the feeling to remain. Do it again: not the event, not the cause, only the feeling. Focus on it.

Let it shine. Let it become bigger. Forget its cause. Don’t let the mind get in the way.

Expand the feeling. Stay with it. You can do it.

So you see, the feeling can be independent of the cause. You do not need a cause to feel full, because the feeling is already a part of you. The feeling is a waveform, a frequency, and you can access it and amplify it simply by intention. When all your cells vibrate to this frequency, you are in the energy of fulfilment. And that is your natural state. The unnatural state is what is

created by the various causes. That is why you have to drop the causes and access the pristine feeling. The causes are merely triggers, reminders to awaken the feeling in you, but you have the ability and the choice to access the feeling and then to stay with it.

When you stay with this self-luminous fullness for long enough, the desire to give seems to follow spontaneously. You want others to experience the fullness, too, and you want the earth to experience the fullness, too. You do not want to deplete anyone or anything; you want to give, give and give. You want everyone and everything around you to be happy, to know that joy, to know that incredible feeling that “I do not need. I am bliss itself.” You come into the spiral of love: it goes out of you and comes back into you, and there is no longer any sense of lack.

If this happens to you, and to those around you, and to those around them, and on and on, we will become a different species. No longer angry, no longer sad, no longer cavemen (or women) wanting to hoard in our personal grottos, but energized beings who revel in fullness, in flowing and in loving. In giving. Be authentic and do not apologize for being you. Release your shame, guilt, and anger — use it to propel you even further into change. You attract based on your relationship with yourself.

Codependency thrives on a lack of self-awareness, trust and the need for validation. Create affirmations and say them three times a day. It will be uncomfortable at first, but they will become second nature to you, so keep doing them.

Talk down your nervous system when you are in a bout of anxiety or fear — breathe — normalize it. We all have our moments. You are not alone. Be grateful and empathetic. Try something new. Praise others for their accomplishments. We are all lovable. Embrace your qualities and everything about yourself. Don’t personalize the emotions of others or jump to conclusions and cast judgment and mental filters. Grey areas do exist. Feed your mind with knowledge & healthy food. Kill your ANTs: Automatic Negative Thoughts.

Opening the Door to a Miracle BY

SOME YEARS AGO, doctors told Rebecca that she was barren — she would never have children. She’s a member of Eckankar and has come to believe in her dreams. Despite this prognosis by the doctors, she still wanted to be a mother, to have her own children. So she opened herself to the ECK and said, “If there’s any way for me to have my own children, please let it be so.”

She determined at this time that she would begin living her religion. So as a member of Eckankar, she began to do her spiritual exercises every day. She read a lot of ECK books, and she practiced the ECK principles as best she could.

What was she doing? She was spiritualizing herself.

She was doing everything possible to put the most positive light on everything in her life so that it would uplift her, because she knew that then the power of God can get through more easily.

One time, Rebecca did a spiritual exercise that she felt would help. She used a visualization technique in contemplation. She was trying to imagine herself in a place of healing.

She awoke in a dream and found herself in a large hospital on a higher level of existence. A doctor examined her, took her into the operating room, and operated on her. After it was over and she was about to be discharged, the doctor handed her a prescription. He told her the name of the medicine, and she memorized it.

Just at the moment the doctor mentioned the medicine, she felt this movement in her lower abdomen. Something moved inside her. Then she awoke.

she went back to sleep.

The next morning she got up and began to call around to all the pharmacies to try to find this particular drug. Everywhere she called, the answer was always the same.

“Madam, this drug is very rare. You can only get it at the regional hospitals and some big private clinics.” It was a new drug.

Rebecca looked at the situation and said, “I can’t really go to a doctor and say, ‘Here’s my dream prescription. Would you fill it please?’” So she said, “I’ll let this be.” She’d wait for God’s own time.

She went about her life and practically forgot about the dream.

Then one morning she awoke with a terrible toothache. Her gums were swollen, and it felt as if her teeth were going to fall out. Rebecca got permission from her supervisor at work to go see a dentist at the dental clinic. When she got there, the dentist looked at her teeth.

“You’ve got quite an infection,” he said. “I’m going to give you a prescription.” He mentioned the name of the medication, and it was exactly the same drug that the doctor in the dream state had prescribed — a very new, rare drug.

Rebecca went home with her prescription, and before the bottle was used up, she was pregnant. Her child is now a little over seven years old.

IT HELPS TO ASK If you want something from life, first of all you have to earn it. But you also have to be open to the gifts life is willing to give you, and that means you have to ask for them.

It never hurts to ask, because life just might say yes.

Affirm: ‘I am Secure’ A Monthly Affirmation

BY CHARLOTTE “MAMA” ROSE SECURITY LIES IN THE open spaces, in the time that we give ourselves to truly be, to truly feel with no expectations. This month I invite you to use to the affirmation, “I am secure,” to remind yourself that security is always present.

In each moment we have access to the deep well of resources that springs from within us. The love that is present there is all that we need to guide our actions in each moment. In my past columns we have talked a lot about how to recognize that love and bring it into inspired action. With that foundational understanding in place we may now speak directly to the power inherent within us to support the dreams and desires that arise in our experience.

Often we meet our desires with a “no” before we even notice that they have arisen within us. In this way, our desires remain “unconscious,” and we are unaware of them.

When we find the space between the desire and the response to it, we find a wellspring of information that can direct and guide our experience. This is all we need to create the environment in which our desire can be born into reality.

Keep in mind that desires are like water.

They shift and change the boundaries and banks of the spaces that they flow through.

They carry pieces of us along with them and deposit them where they are needed.

Sometimes those pieces create blockages and make home for unwanted inhabitants who stay until the debris is cleared. To keep the resources in our life flowing to where they are most needed, we must first see what is going on. We must know what it is that we are carrying.

Take the time this month to check in with yourself honestly and make space for all of your desires to declare their existence. We don’t need to know why they exist or where they came from or even where they are going. When we allow them into our awareness, we are accepting our own wholeness, our unkempt, untamed wildness. We are allowing the fullness of who we are, of our experience, to be expressed. We are quite simply setting a stage for the manifestation of the highest desires each of us holds. We are allowing them to shift, move, reorganize and integrate.

Can you hold yourself in a space of vulnerability? What do you need, personally, to feel safe enough to be vulnerable? Is there something you can do right now, in this moment, to create that for yourself? Perhaps that is taking a moment of silence, speaking

a prayer, reaching out to a friend, putting yourself in a community space, removing yourself from a space that feels constricting, or shifting the way you tell your story.

Our society teaches us values that do not create the vulnerability that we need in order to experience true security. In this time we are all revolutionaries. Each moment of honesty with ourselves is a protest. Each action we take to create that safe space for ourselves is an act of revolution. We must do this work within as we simultaneously are involved in the systems that we wish to restructure.

Acknowledge that desire, the desire to live in a world where you are nourished as much as you are feeding your community. A world where you are valued for existing, where you are cared for and trusted and forgiven and the resources that you need to support yourself and understand yourself more fully are always available to you. A world where you are seen and heard. Imagine a world in which your place cannot be compromised, where you are solid, steady and rooted in your being. This is the world we open up to and create when we make space within ourselves to say, “Yes, I see you, I hear you” to our desires.

Remember, ceilings are where we put them and they are all made of glass, whether installed by one individual or the collective.

They break easily as soon as we throw a stone, or stand tall or heat the floor enough to melt them. There is no reason to keep a ceiling in place unless it is supporting you, and floors tend to do that much better. So, find your roots, dig deep and make space for your past to speak into the present so that it may release you. See it as the ground that holds you up, the fertile soil of ash from the burning old. If we create based on what we believe is possible, we don’t leave space to show ourselves a new way.

Be brave this month. Know that security travels with you and that you can find it in your breath, in the spaces between thoughts, in the fabric that holds your body, in your emotion. Open up to the fullness of yourself by allowing all parts of you to have a voice — and say with clarity, “I am secure.”

A New Era of Awakening A Pleiadian Message

As you move into the energy of this month you are being given the gift of a sacred covenant being revealed, allowing another level of transformation within your own being. You became witness to a huge shift in mid-September, opening up a new energetic terrain on Earth.

As this new essence of a flowing light consciousness anchored throughout your planet, a new paradigm was made accessible.

As a result of this powerful transformative happening there has been a complete energetic reset as a direct flow of light has emerged from the higher realm consciousness. This has created a series of waves that have formed a stable crystalline formation within all of the grids on the planet. Through this crystalline form, multidimensional layers have been revealed and activated across the planet, allowing a higher aspect of God consciousness to infiltrate and integrate across the Earth.

These layers of higher vibrational light have created a series of openings that give you access to the higher realm consciousness. So much is being offered and revealed to you as you actively choose to reconnect to the higher flows of multidimensional light and utilize the tool of your multidimensional heart. There is an expanded unlimited vastness to your Heart, and it is essential to begin to familiarize and recall the essence of this aspect of your self.

Remember, this is your time to actively birth your self into a further understanding of your mission, and a deeper clarity of the role you are to play on this Earth plane and within the entire Universe. This is the time for the self-manifestation of divine love to be released and expressed through your own heart.

Your love is a powerful transmitter that strongly impacts the Universe as it flows naturally from your heart. Love exists naturally within your heart cells, creating transmutation within the body. The heart plays the role of birthing and expanding aspects of your own unique divine God light within your life.

This multidimensional aspect of you is designed to nourish the cells of your entire physical body. The role of your sacred nature is to embody love, and as you choose to actively engage within your heart a deep metamorphic process can move throughout your physical cells to promote healing and rejuvenation.

This is your time to take conscious moments to further activate this unfolding within you. Almost as though you are a new bud of a flower, each time you engage within your heart the petals begin to loosen and then slowly open up to the full light of the sun. Your journey right now is a self-birthing process, of you unfolding, like the bud of a flower to the sun.

As you choose to align to your heart consciously, you begin to activate an alignment to your God light. This is your sun.

This is a natural response of your Higher Self as you choose to hold your heart and bring your awareness into your heart. Your God light begins to illuminate through you. You get to open up and bathe in your unique God light, receiving the vast love of your multidimensional self, receiving and being birthed through the love within your heart.

A NEW ORDER This step of activating your God light is subtle at first as it awakens through you, and then gradually its brilliance begins to grow. Know that you are being launched into a new order of your own God light, which has been made accessible to you through the recent higher realm alignments. This is your time to let go and be willing to allow changes to unfold within your life, in a different way, by trusting the inner guide of your heart. This is a time to consciously celebrate a new order of your life — not being distracted by the illusion of drama on your planet, rather by engaging in a steady and consistent alignment to your heart.

Take moments in each day to be aligned to your heart. Each experience, no matter how long it lasts, will create building blocks of reconnection to the stillness, peace and stabilization that arise through a relationship within your multidimensional heart space. YOU CAN AWAKEN You birthing you. The only way you can awaken is by consciously choosing to re-engage with your heart. This conscious action will transform and empower you because you are choosing a higher path of consciousness for yourself. The only link to truth is within your heart. All of these reconnections are made possible now through the vastly changed energetic landscape of your planet.

Each one of you is being called, regardless of where you find yourself at this time on Earth. No matter how you view yourself from an ego mind standpoint, you are ready to engage and develop this new pathway of your Higher Self. Understand at this moment that your ego mind is unable to perceive truth. The ego does not comprehend that you have a vast multidimensional nature that is your Higher Self.

Do not try to convince your ego mind of this fact. The mind will never be able to perceive the truth of your higher nature, and this is not necessary to your journey.

Nothing can get in the way of your reconnection to your God light. This is a pre-ordained happening — an aspect of destiny.

This was always going to be the right time for you to allow this transformational change to take place. All is in hand.

ENERGY OF GRATITUDE Gratitude for your life accelerates your ability to align into your sacred heart. The energy of gratitude is a stepping stone for you to take full responsibility for your creation. You are being called to open up to this truth through being grateful for all that you have experienced. This is a time for gratitude.

True gratitude begins as you open up to fully receive all aspects of your life, exactly as it is, right in front of you. You need to open up to receive the content of your journey thus far, taking total ownership of everything you have co-created with your Higher Self. When you move into full acceptance of the experiences you have had, whether they are good or difficult, maybe some painful and some joyful. One is not more than another, just different.

Simply be. Play the role of witness to all that you have experienced. Open up into a state of receivership to all that is about to be revealed to you on your path.

None of these experiences define you.

They were created in order for you to have a human learning experience. As you accept your journey and breathe and let go into your life, a shifting of energy can begin to take place within your world.

By choosing to own these experiences, an opening can be created in your life, and new doorways of opportunity can begin to flow within your life on every level because you have chosen to own your full experience. New possibilities begin to open in response to your ownership of your creation. Your life opens as you open, like a bud of a flower, as you receive blessings from the higher realms.

BLESSINGS TO YOU At this juncture on the planet, blessings are being returned to you, and you can utilize these blessings in your life now.

These blessings originate from your higher realm God light — and they belong to you. So, as you move and anchor into your heart space, you will begin to access your blessings anew to flow and transform every arena of your life.

Shower the Soul

HOW DIRTY MUST our soul get on Earth to require a shower on the other side?

Surely the everyday stress of life leaves a fragment of emotional dirt imprinted upon the soul. The emotional baggage of starting school and being bullied. Parents separating, but listening to all the arguments before one of them decides to leave. Having your first partner, first job, and first child. Then, as you get older the worry of what your children will do, illness and old age creeping in. Finally death!

The emotional burdens feel heavy upon our shoulders, causing a curvature of the spine as we go about our old life. Life’s pressures are sometimes so unbearable that we can’t look forward anymore, but only down, waiting to go up.

I have been doing past life regression for over 20 years, and I hear comments all the time like the ones I have mentioned.

But once I have regressed an individual from their death scene, the emotional ties are broken and the emotional relief is so evident upon the person’s face. Ask yourself now, “What would it feel like to free me from life’s stress?” Some people believe it’s impossible, and for others it would be the greatest feeling on Earth.

The reality is that every soul feels the same.

There is no judgment on the other side. Forgiveness is a reality, and all we take in is the wisdom and knowledge learned in that lifetime. If you got it wrong, there’s always reincarnation. So it’s a win-win situation.

Once the soul has traveled through the light, to the place of life between lives, a whole new reality awaits. Spirit guides and members of your soul group arrive to greet you home. You’re no longer constricted to a physical body, and you change form and color and dance around on an energetic level. You are free to travel to other dimensions and back again. There is no

rush to reincarnate and start the stress again.

Once the excitement has reduced, it’s time for the soul to cleanse itself. I have heard wonderful accounts of some souls that were showered by the stars of the universe, accompanied by angels playing vibrational music. Can you imagine the beauty of witnessing such an event? It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about the vibration of energy waves bursting the bubbles of grief, loss and heartache. No wonder people make such comments as “the showering of the soul is the most magical feeling in the universe.”

Some souls decide to stay in the shower. Remember, there is no time or space in that realm.

My question would be, “Why would you want to leave?” But others say “that their heaven is on Earth.” So who am I to argue the case.

From this experience, the soul is truly clean and fresh.

Individuals have mentioned how bright and light their soul now appears. It’s almost like the toxic environment of Earth is gone. So many souls converse with me about the damage humans are doing to Earth. Plenty of souls on Earth are trying to stop countries from poisoning our planet, but when will we learn and listen?

Once pure and clean, the soul can visit the elders to discuss and re-evaluate their previous lifetime. Within this council meeting, all that exists is the wisdom of love. How did the soul progress its knowledge?

What do they need to learn in their next lifetime? I can only imagine it’s like standing in front of your classroom teacher and the headmaster. However, have no fear of a ruler or book being thrown at your head. Did I just say that out loud?

November Horoscope: Slow Down, Go Deep Mercurial Messages through the Zodiac

Mercury retrograde is good for anything that begins “re” — retrain, reorganize, rethink, research, renovate. It brings us back to finish unfinished work, but can make easy to misunderstand one another, forget, or have difficulties with electronics and communication. Mercury in Scorpio amps up our curiosity. We want to look under rocks and dive deep to get to the root of the matter. Humor may have a sharp-pointed edge. We just have to watch where our thoughts go, and put our minds to good use.

AMITY IS 63 AND lives and plans to die on the north shore of Oahu. Her twin diagnoses, end-stage liver disease and cancer, have freed her. She is shedding certain trappings of her earthly life: jewelry, clothing, secrets. She has come to me with tales of her other-worldly encounters.

Like most experiencers, just talking about her encounters is a major step.

To do so breaks an American taboo: speaking openly of personal spirit-world encounters. Taboos help to keep us in line and hold our shared worldview together.

If you break the taboo, others might feel threatened. Crush the worldview, crush the person, to paraphrase John E. Mack.

I knew Amity once, years ago. We both lived in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Then, she didn’t speak of her other-worldly encounters, nor I mine. We were both young, hopeful and unencumbered by the weight of time, loss and regrets. Maybe we both needed that weight to feel sufficiently grounded to come out about our secret experiences.

Amity’s first encounter of two occurred in 1974 in rural Alabama, near the Georgia border. This is what she told me: “I encountered a UFO along with a group of friends on a weekend in 1974.

We’d all gotten together in a friend’s house on the edge of a pasture in Crawford, Alabama, a small town near the Georgia border, not far from the Army post Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia.

I was 21. We’d all known each other since high school. Jim, my first husband, was there, along with four other married

couples and another friend. Several were brothers.

“I was in the living room, and the others, including my husband, were in the kitchen. Suddenly their voices raised in excitement, shouting about lights. I heard the commotion as they ran to the screen door of the kitchen.

“I held back. I had never heard Jim and our friends sound as they did; they sounded excited in a way I’d never heard humans sound before. Everyone was sober; none of us had been drinking or imbibing in anything that might have impaired our perceptions.

“Finally, I rose and went into the kitchen. Everyone was making their way out the screen door. Eventually I followed.

“A giant disc with multi-colored lights like Christmas lights sat on the ground in the large pasture behind the house. I could see the outer surface of the craft looked like old, gray metal. It was absurd how much it looked like the spaceships on television shows.

“Jim started to run toward the landed craft.

“I thought, ‘I want nothing to do with this,’ and in that the second the multi-colored lights on the craft began to spin, and the craft lifted up and out of the pasture.”

I asked Amity how the encounter affected her, her husband and her friends.

This had become a pivotal question for me when interviewing experiencers.

So far I’d found most people who’d encountered something other-worldly or extraordinary stayed in the stage of awe when they recollected the experience.

what way it had changed them.

Amity responded, “I tend to just accept the reality of [my encounters] without question or doubt, then disengage from the energy.

For whatever reason, it just leaves me alone.

Even at age 21, I felt it left me alone, the flying saucer, that is, because I believed it, respected it, the experience, but wished to stay in my own realm and leave it to its.”

Like an old-fashioned fairy, Amity could engage, then disengage, with the energy around her. Her features were even fairy-like: high, prominent cheekbones, upturned eyes, fine hair that lay close to her skull.

Perhaps the ability to psychologically separate is the necessary quality for encounters with other-worldly beings.

It seems to allow an entrance for energies and beings out of our daily world. Amity seems at peace with this quality in herself. I have always been uncomfortable with it in myself. I WAS 5 YEARS OLD when I had my first mystical revelation, which can be defined in part as an immediate understanding of spiritual matters. Although, at the time, I couldn’t put my realization into words, I distinctly recall understanding in a flash that I was more than a child named Susan with dark hair and brown eyes.

Rather, I was a consciousness inhabiting a physical body, with a distinct personality and reason for being. I was a spiritual being having a human experience.

Have you had a similar episode of understanding?

We are made in the image and likeness of God because we are God individualized, experiencing life from our unique perspective. As an intricate part of the divine essence of the Creator of All, we have the ability to influence our reality by our innate power of creation.

In the Old Testament, Moses asks God what to call him. And “God said to Moses, ‘I AM that I AM.’” This means that the Creator simply exists.

Always has and always will. And because we are God individualized as unique souls, we also are part of the eternal divine essence known as: “I AM that I AM.” Our true spiritual self is called the I AM Presence of God. As spiritual beings, we are granted the gift of free will to mold our human existence. We do this every day, often without thought or rituals or fancy words but by saying two words we take for granted: “I am.” These two words are the most powerful words in our vocabulary, because we

are invoking the creative powers of the Creator by uttering its very name — I AM that I AM — every time we connect what we think we are (or are not) to our I AM. Pause, breathe, and consider this again. Every time you utter the words “I am,” you invoke the creative power of the universe to bring forth that which you say you are. It is a spiritual law.

Who are you and what do you want to be? Are you strong, healthy, vibrant and prosperous, or are you weak, sick, powerless and poor? I challenge you to become keenly aware of who and what you say you are when you use the words I am. “I am sick and tired” carries the same power of creation as “I am healthy and vibrant.” Which do you prefer to experience?

Once you truly grasp who you are and the divine essence we share in common, you are ready to journey even further away from the Theater of Your Mind to your Sacred Heart. Moreover, your journey will become a much more profound and satisfying experience when you realize just how powerfully creative you can be when you correctly use your I AM, which invokes your divine self.

The Wave of Your Own Momentum BY

HERE’S A LITTLE SECRET. Perhaps you share it and it’s your secret, too. When things are going really, really well for me, I freak a little bit. It’s like I can’t stay in bliss without taking a peek behind the curtain to see if the boogeyman is there to mess it up. I want to ride the wave of my positive momentum — fully balanced and looking damn good — but at the same time there’s a totally annoying voice in my head saying, “This isn’t going to last.”

In that moment, I feel a bit panicked. It’s as if I already have jinxed it.

How do you shut the voice up?

Strangulation really isn’t an option, because face it, the voice is you. This makes the process both easier and harder. Easier because you can control your thoughts and harder because, well, you control your thoughts. No one’s going to step up and do it for you.

So how do you build on your positivity? Stay in the flow? Keep riding the wave? First, give yourself permission to enjoy it.

You’re in the flow, aligned with the Universe, everything is unfolding in the most magical way, and you believe each day will bring a new miracle.

Heady stuff! Don’t mess it up with thoughts like, “It’s all going to fall apart, or I don’t deserve all this great stuff happening.” Shut that down immediately. Lean into your bliss with awe and appreciation, because this is how you are supposed to feel all the time..

Next, fuel your positivity by focusing on what’s going right for you. Make a list of all that’s humming along. Feel your energy build as you name each amazing thing, and then be so frigging grateful for it. Don’t overlook the small stuff like a warm sunny day, that parking spot right in front of Starbucks, an eagle sighting, or the unexpected hug from your teenage daughter.

When you’re vibrating with positivity, you attract more good stuff.

Share your joy, baby!

Because when you share your joy, you give others permission to share theirs, and this creates a dynamic ripple of love. Find a group, posse or tribe that you can share with — it’s a mutual love

fest. You’ll be able to recognize them because they’ll celebrate with you and not try to compete or tear you down. Form a pact where three-syllable words such as marvelous, tremendous, wonderful, amazing, incredible, terrific — are the norm.

Focus on the recovery, not the slip.

You’ll tumble; we all do. Your car will break down on the interstate during rush hour, your child will get sick all over your new Frye boots, or you’ll just wake up crabby and ready to rip someone’s head off for no reason. And poof, you’re out of flow.

No need to panic, because you’ve got this.

First, you recognized you’re no longer in flow and awareness is always the first step to recovery.

Now, be gentle and don’t judge yourself. Everyone has a bad moment, day, week or even month.

Don’t beat yourself up. Acknowledge where you are and decide if you want to be someplace else (out of the dumps or wallow for a while), trust how you feel and when you’re ready, grab on to the first positive thought you can find. If your child threw up on your boots, at least they were leather and not canvas — eewww! How to Move from Belief to Inner Knowing BY

WHEN I FIRST SAW a request for articles about how to move from belief to knowing, I thought, “Holy smokes, that’s going to be a very intense, lengthy article,” and I walked away from the idea of taking it on as a project. There is so much to say and, yet, I kept feeling this pull to sit down at the computer and write out a few thoughts. My first thought was to share a few bullet points and leave it at that, but something kept pulling me deeper into the article and, well, here you have it.

First, the list of bullet points: • Learn to listen to and live by your inner voice.

• Go to therapy and heal your selfworth.

• Read some books on this subject, but after a short while, put the books down and start living it.

• Get healings for your soul to heal and remove all negativity that religion has taught you about being a sinner.

• Heal your anger and resentments towards God for all the bad things that have happened in your life.

• Learn to sit in the silence.

• Visualize what the Kingdom of God looks like.

• Visualize it inside of you and then work on believing it’s real.

• Feel your oneness with nature, animals and people.

• Live in the knowing that you are a part of God/Yahweh, Elohim, Allah, Higher Power or whatever you call the Creator.

• Live in this knowing and oneness every day.

As you can see, walking this path is not something that happens overnight.

On the contrary, this is something that happens over several years or a lifetime.

My journey started when I was seven and my mom began teaching me about living by my intuition. I’m lucky that she never gave up on me when I was constantly saying I didn’t know what she was talking about. We all have intuition, including animals. THERE IS A COMMON

saying among us spiritual folk that goes something like this: “As you believe, so shall it be.” We know this to be true because it just feels right, and there are numerous excellent authors and spiritual speakers who remind us of this.

During our years of spiritual discovery we have learned that “beliefs create reality.” and I too believe(d) this is so, but I also know beliefs are a tool of what we call the ego, the part of us that thinks it’s separate from life and also believes it’s in control of its own destiny (though it is always crying for help trying to stay sane and in control!).

If we are co-creators of our reality, if we are more than merely our ego and its beliefs, what else, who else, are we creating with? None other than our very own partner in creation: our inner knowing. Our inner knowing is that part of us directly connected to the Oneness. It’s the part of us that is always experiencing the now (even though we don’t recognize it through our daily distractions). It’s that ever-present part of us so silent and so forgotten we have lost our understanding of how to listen to it — and so too have we lost our natural sense of unity with each other.

A part of us is crying out to be held, to be understood, to finally be at peace. But we are crying in vain, because we cannot hear our own answers. How often have we called out to God, or to something, hoping it hears us, hoping it knows who we really are and what we really want and need? But each time we call out it seems we end up moving further from ourselves and further from our answers. The further out we go, the greater our despair and the deeper the chasm separating us from ourselves.

As we have come to find out, in any well-intentioned effort, even if we have chosen the wrong way to go about it, the answer is still found (though not as we had initially expected). Often when we reach the breaking point in our search

and give up in frustration and exhaustion, we finally let down our guard and recognize we don’t know how to find ourselves.

It’s at that point we become most open to our own knowing. It’s in our unguarded openness that our inner knowing can be heard.

If we have recited every positive affirmation we could think of or were told about and still, even after all that, don’t feel our inner peace, we may finally be ready. Ready to let go of what we thought we knew, to let go of our ideas of life, to let go of our ideas of each other, to let go of our beliefs…and finally, in silence and openness, become ready to receive the direct experience of knowing; our eternal connection to All That Is. It takes no special knowledge or training to reconnect to the knowing. However, it does take the ability to stop — to stop thinking, to stop doing, to stop planning and projecting futures, to stop trying to figure things out. When we finally stop our efforts to control life (and we were not that good at it anyway) and become still and allow life, as it is, to flow through us, we will finally be free of our own limiting beliefs. And, surprisingly, we will discover beliefs themselves are no longer needed to live in harmony with ourselves and all life.

Living life in the moment staying attuned to your knowing can be your new reality. And you can do it by just letting go. Let go of who you thought you were and be your inner knowing. Be still. Trust it. Listen to its urges and callings. Allow it room to grow and show you the way.

As you do, you will begin to feel your connectedness to all life. How I Learned to Believe like a Child BY

“Does God really know our thoughts?” I asked my husband.

“Yes,” he replied without hesitation.

“Is it a sin if you just think something?”

I inquired.

“Yes,” he confirmed.

“Is there no other way into the Kingdom of Heaven than through Jesus?” I asked.

“No,” he answered.

“What happens to people in remote areas of the world who never hear of Christianity or Jesus or have their own faith?” I swallowed hard before asking my final question: “Will they go to hell?”

“Yes,” he replied, apparently unconcerned about the fates of these faceless people. “That’s why missionaries try to convert them.”

Until finally, my husband threw up his hands and said, “Keri, I don’t know. This is just what I’ve been taught. I just believe like a child.”

Christianity was a staple of both my husband’s home life and school life. He was as close to an “expert” as I had ever gotten the chance to question. I went into this hoping that he could finally help me see the truth. Maybe, I could finally stop worrying every night about hell, sin, God’s jealousy. Maybe he could help me settle into some final knowing.

Believe like a child, he suggested.

What was that supposed to mean? I thought, snidely. If he was actually “believing like a child,” well, wouldn’t he be asking question after question, like I was? Wouldn’t that mean having a lot more “I wonders” and a lot fewer definitive yeses and nos? Wouldn’t that mean that his curiosity was bottomless, as mine was?

Instead, his mantra of “believe like a child” put a stopper in all his questioning and curiosity.

Sitting in that restaurant booth with my soon-to-be-husband that day, I had desperately been wanting some answers. I didn’t want to just believe. I wanted to know. And I expected him to help me get me there.

Fast forward to today, and my husband and I have changed a lot in our respective views.

Fast forward to today, and I have given the role of “help me get there” to many other teachers, books, philosophies and belief systems.

Eventually, I realized that I could appreciate how Christian beliefs provided comfort and assurance to millions, but it wasn’t for me. If I couldn’t know, then I couldn’t believe. It was as simple as that.

I moved on, into the worlds of yoga, Buddhism and many other spiritual traditions.

That is your starting point: discovering this part of yourself and learning to live by its guidance.

Once we realize this inner voice is the voice of the Source that created us, we want more. We read books and attend lectures. We try meditation but get frustrated because of our monkey mind. We leave the path for a while and then get back on it a few months or years later. We try meditation again and are surprised that our monkey mind has calmed down and we can go within to find the light that shines brightly inside of us. We work on healing ourselves and our relationship with God. We learn that the difficulties in our lives are not because of a mean, jealous God, but rather that our soul chose our life challenges to grow from. We change, we grow. Our selfworth improves. We aren’t so bad after all. We release the teachings from religion that have kept us stuck in “sinner mode” and realize we truly are a part of God and all of humanity.

Our thirst continues. We begin a quest to know more. All along we’ve said we believe, but it feels like there’s more than just believing.

We want more. Something inside calls us to the truth and that truth is knowing that we are one with God. Knowing, feeling it in our bones.

Reading more books, understanding intellectually what it means to be a reflection of God but then taking it to the next level of true knowing.

Living with the knowledge that we can do and be anything we want.

Manifesting comes natural. We are at peace. We see God in all our fellow human beings. We live in gratitude and a sense of humility that we never knew before. JESUS TOLD US THAT UNLESS we became as little children, we would not enter the “Kingdom,” which of course is not a place, but a state of the consciousness of unconditional love and infinite contentment. Children are usually trustful by nature.

Let us also learn from them to trust.

“Fear not, little flock, it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom,” the same Friend told us.

The Bible tells us much more.

May we see that it does not have to be earned by virtuous living, good deeds or stringent discipline. May we rest deeply in the understanding that this gift is totally free. Just as the shepherd does not demand that his sheep produce good wool before leading them to the green pastures, may we relax totally in the understanding that the kingdom is ours by divine birthright — because it is already in us. Let go and let God. May we trust in the promise of constant guidance because Divine Love whispers to us, “I (infinite Love) will hold your hand and will keep you.”

May we never fear for our daily bread but trust in the promise of infinite abundance provided by the Source of all good which tells us, “Prove me now herewith, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

Initially, they satisfied my curiosity and opened up my mind. But in the end, none of them really fit me, either. Too tight, I suppose, because whatever tradition or modality I was studying, it always felt incomplete in some way. I tried, but I never could entirely let go and believe like a child in any of those traditions, either.

I accepted that my path to truth could no longer be one where I try on and take off the belief sets already established in our world.

That decision wasn’t based on belief. It was based on knowing.

I knew that my path could never be defined by the books or creeds or testaments that were handed down. I knew that my path is one of curiosity and no boundaries. I knew that I was devoted to one thing only, and that was to asking questions. And I knew that my creed was to never need to believe anything at all. And I could only do that if I gave myself permission to start off believing like a child.

And when the most grueling inner trial knocks me into the dungeon of despair and doubt, may I be reminded that all things (every single trial) will ultimately turn out to be a blessing.

I would never say that I am an unbeliever.

I believe there is meaning, and that there is depth to this human life. Meditation to Stop Overthinking Staying Connected in the Electric Universe BY

WHEN WE TRUST ourselves, inner knowing becomes a familiar part of life. All you need to do to develop it is remind yourself that in your basic form, you are consciousness. You are connected to everything that is, and everything in the Universe is conscious.

In the electric universe model, the fourth state of matter is plasma. It fills the vast voids of space that previously were believed to be empty. It turns out that those “empty spaces” are filled with diffused electrically charged gas.

Everything that moves (planets) or breathes (you) has an electromagnetic field, which is referred to under various names.

For human bodies, that field is often called the aura or human biofield.

At this level, we constantly exchange information, and even affect each other’s energy levels, as we interact.

Particles in the outer layers of our biofields easily travel from one magnetic field to another.

That is how psychics are able to connect to past events, or “read” information about an owner of an object just by touching it or looking at a picture.

For some, that information comes as an instant “download,” which may be emotionally overwhelming.

For others, it presents itself as inner knowing. We are all born with this ability, and we can use it, or block it. If you chose to block it at some point in order to fit into the “scientific or academic” society structure, or because you were taught as a child to be powerless by those you believed, don’t worry. You can bring it back.

We all use that ability to know without realizing it daily. Notice every time you guess who is calling you on your phone without looking at the number, or someone calls you every time you think about them. Notice how brilliant and powerful you are as you attract things, events and people when you give your attention to them. Enjoy it, and keep reminding yourself that you already know how to do it, because whether you think you can’t or you can, you are always right. Why not make it work for you the way you want it to? See yourself as a powerful being,

connected to the world consciousness as a part of it, and enjoy every minute of your inner knowing life.

If that quantum physics/electric universe connection is too complicated or too new of a concept and wrapping the mind around it requires too much mental gymnastics, put it on the back burner and let your subconscious take care of it for you.

We often tend to overthink everything.

Most people have a habit of self-doubt that is not particularly helpful in awakening to the inner-knowing process. If you are one such over-thinker, try the following simple meditation to shift your awareness from the overthinking mind to the all-knowing heart: As you read these lines slowly take a deep breath in, think of a beautiful stream of fresh water as it runs through a beautiful forest. As you take an even longer exhale, imagine a beautifully shaped leaf gently drifting and falling into that stream, and allow your mind to drift slowly and gently, as that leaf travels on the surface of the water.

As you inhale, think of the stream, reflecting the beautiful sunlight, and as you exhale, give all your tensions, your worries and doubts to the stream.

That’s right. Allow all those thoughts to travel away with the water. Water is a perfect purifier. Notice how it cleanses your mind with every breath.

That’s right. Keep taking long breaths, allowing your mind to drift. That feels good, doesn’t it? The more you concentrate on your breath and on your heartbeat, the easier it is to open up your heart and invite that inner knowing to settle in.

You may want to practice it for a few minutes every once in a while. Knowing is a Full Felt Experience JANA JOHNSON OFTENTIMES IT TAKES an actual felt experience, a touching of the Divine Consciousness, that changes our belief into inner knowing.

Many practices and techniques are mind driven, rather than experience driven. In the West we’ve given our mind so much merit that we are apt to doubt someone’s experience if our mind tells us it’s not possible, even though that person has had an actual experience. Although science is continually amending itself to catch up with ancient knowledge, there are those who are adamant that if you can’t prove it scientifically, then it is not true.

One issue is that we’ve given up on the idea of mysticism and mystery in order to have certainty and data. The mind can’t understand what it hasn’t created. “Knowing” comes from a place beyond the mind, thus it grapples with even its own experiences that don’t “make sense.” Eventually, if one keeps an open and flexible mind, the experiences overpower the mind and we have to surrender to the unknown. This is the scary part, and why ego fights so hard to “understand” everything. If it didn’t create this experience, then it is unknown and out of its control — and it (ego) might be put into the passenger seat where it belongs, or worse yet, it fears its own death.

Sometimes we feel we “know” something because we have read so much about it. It’s an intellectual understanding. It’s only when you actually have a full-felt experience that you understand you didn’t really “know” beyond words. When we have a full-felt experience in our body then we cannot doubt ourselves, although the ego will attempt to do so many times.

A full-felt experience happens throughout every cell in our body. It’s not just in the mind.

Every cell has connected consciousness and therefore vibrates in resonance when it is in alignment with truth. And then we KNOW. The saying often is “I feel it in my bones.” This can’t be forced; it naturally happens. Often, we get frustrated along our path because we intellectually “get it” but don’t feel it in our bodies. Stay aware, stay awake. It will happen.

If you intellectually know something, then you are always fighting to keep this in control in your mind — and it takes energy to always check yourself. When you have an experiential knowing, it integrates into your being. It doesn’t take effort to keep it there. Like mindfulness, instead of a practice it becomes a way of being.

Leaves of Change Spirit Leaves

Some are channeled in the moment; still others become part of his spiritual toolbox, an invitation to reflect and grow. Like the old Zen masters, he would rather simply lead a horse to water and leave the decision whether to drink entirely with the individual. This month’s prompt about moving from belief to intuitive knowing invited me to reflect upon my own journey from the safety of the box to a more individualized, expansive frame of reference.

The word “belief” is a funny one. I like the way Cedric incorporates the term when demonstrating the reality of reincarnation.

He explains: “If you observe Nature, you will see that plants, trees and animals already know what to do. Deer shed the soft outer coating of their antlers, revealing mature ones. Trees lose their leaves in the fall, only to regrow them in spring. Deer do not have to believe in regeneration in order to sprout mature antlers; trees do not have to believe in photosynthesis in order to gain more leaves. It is the same with reincarnation: Belief is not required.”

Through Cedric’s wise teachings and my own reflective journey, I now regard “belief” as an outmoded concept, one belonging to an old energy. In the post-shift energy, I feel more akin with terms like insight, understanding, intuition and inner knowing.

Prayer, meditation, affirmation — by whatever concept vessel we travel — we will arrive at the same place. Our very own thoughts create absolutely everything we call “reality.” That’s why belief doesn’t yield much for us: implicit in the notion of belief is that one must harbor a belief in something, something separate from

One of my favorite quotes, a Tibetan proverb, sums this up is: “Do not mistake understanding for realization. Do not mistake realization for liberation.”

Another way to understand when a belief has become a knowing is when the questioning ends. The mind questions, consciousness doesn’t. Questioning isn’t wrong or bad, in fact it’s a good thing to question at first, to get clear for yourself.

The mind is very strong and smart. It’s important to go through this phase of questioning in order to soften the mind. If there is doubt, then you will always be blocked. If there is no doubt, then there is clarity.

oneself. That very dualism perpetuates the notion that everything is outside of and apart from us, and that we must work very hard to achieve unity with the object of our attention.

The truth is there is no real separation.

Our human self, our Higher self, our Angelic self and our God self are all constructs for the same thing. As a convenience to keep from dissociating or going crazy, we label things. We invent concepts, and then we relate to or worship those constructs. We might as well be relating to cartoon characters.

Every human participates in the initial perception of division from the loving consciousness that created our Universe.

Tree branches move outward in beautiful extensions that sprout buds and flowers.

We are like those natural expressions. No matter how far we travel from the trunk, we carry the essence of the tree’s original seed. We are part and parcel of the tree, yet we are individualistic in the energetic expression of our identity on Earth. It is a simple metaphor, but it helps convey the truth of contiguous existence.

So what, therefore, is intuitive knowing, that state toward which our Edge editor asks us to travel and to which our editor requests that we offer a GPS? The answer may seem disturbingly simple. There is no map, there is no trail, there is no GPS, there is no guide. Each person will get there at his or her own pace, but arrive there we all surely will. Intuitive knowing means letting down the artificial guard of all that we have been falsely instructed in, replacing it with the type of soul silence that permits us to ask questions and then listen as clear answers instantly waft up.

Once, Cedric and I were traveling somewhere. As we arrived closer to our destina-

But to take it a bit further, my experience is that my ego is demanding. It’s insistent that I take action quickly. Oftentimes there is some sort of fear behind it — conscious or not — or strong emotion. Ego feeds off fear, anxiety, judgment, resistance, sense of lack. My intuition is patient, steady, persistent but not pleading. It can be quiet and calm, a background undercurrent.

Intuition is pure without going through the emotional filters. The call for action comes from inspiration, not urgency.
