Choose happiness

T

he inmates I work with at the state penitentiary have very few choices.

The young guys complain about being told what to do or being treated inconsiderately or losing privileges while the old timers just smile. They know those things carry no weight. They’ve taught me that one basic choice no one can take from them is their ability to choose happiness.

They know that happiness isn’t a result of doing what you want or receiving what you request or being in control. Happiness is a response to life. It doesn’t matter what the day’s events may be, you can always choose happiness.

In that sense, happiness isn’t a feeling but a life stance. Happiness doesn’t result from an occurrence over which we have no influence or even after a self-defined “victory.”

Happiness is a way of being. Happiness is saying “thank you” and “I accept everything.” Happiness is releasing resistance and overlooking our petty willfulness and choosing to be open-hearted. Happiness is living as large as we can and saying, “I’m so lucky to participate in this experience!”

Happiness doesn’t depend on feeling good or on things going right. We choose happiness because it’s the wisest and most lifeaffirming choice we can make for ourselves, not because it’s logical.

money or a great career or a super lover or (fill in the blank), then I’d be happy”? It actually works the other way around. When you are happy, then you receive gifts from the world. You bless life and life blesses you. But by then you will also realize that experiencing the magic and mystery of each moment is a greater gift than anything our minds concoct. Choosing happiness is choosing aliveness this moment, no matter how it feels. Funny, isn’t it, that we work so hard to be happy when the opposite — surrender — is what’s required?

The act of choosing happiness is a lesson in surrender and trust. A deep peace ensues and we know that by aligning with life, we become more ourselves. It is proclaiming yes to life, not trying to manipulate or control.

Happiness this way isn’t fleeting. Since it doesn’t depend on anything happening or not happening, just on our affirmation to choose happiness, we’re not in danger of losing it. We’re completely “in control.”

Trying to control our surroundings to feel happy is a doomed effort. Maybe that’s why the inmates learn this lesson faster than the rest of us. Since they have no control and no hope of control, their choice is clear. Delicious, nutritious soup for cold months Food First

W

hether I’m concocting a new recipe or searching for a new recipe to try, I aim for one that is both delicious and nutritious! My family enjoys this simple soup and I hope yours will, too!

Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of Vitamin A and C! Pair that with the cayenne in this soup and you have a super immune-boosting soup for the cold winter months!

Sweet potatoes also are a great source of essential nutrients, such as potassium for heart and nervous system, magnesium for relaxation, and iron for energy! Top this off with sesame seeds, a healthy source of fiber and fat, which are wonderful for heart health, lowering blood pressure, balancing hormones, burning fat, absorbing nutrients and preventing cancer.

Make up a batch and enjoy the sweet, nutty flavor combination.

TOASTED SESAME SWEET POTATO SOUP INGREDIENTS 2 T Olive Oil 2 medium onions, chopped 4 garlic cloves, minced 1 T turmeric, chopped (or 1 tsp. powdered) 1 T ginger, chopped (or 1 tsp. powdered) 1/2 tsp. Cayenne Pepper 4 large sweet potatoes, chopped 4 medium carrots, chopped 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth, divided 2 cups water

2 tsp toasted sesame oil Himalayan Salt to taste Garnish with sprinkle of cayenne or paprika Top with toasted sesame seeds (Toast in single layer in a 400-degree oven until lightly browned) DIRECTIONS In a large soup pot, sauté the onions, garlic, turmeric and ginger in the Olive Oil over medium high heat. After about five minutes, add chopped carrots and continue to sauté for another five minutes, coating with oil and stirring occasionally. Add in the chopped sweet potatoes and 4 cups of the broth and 2 cups water. Bring to a boil and then lower heat.

Simmer until potatoes are soft. Puree in batches in a high speed blender and return to soup pot. Once it is all pureed, add in the remaining 2 cups of broth, the cayenne pepper and toasted sesame oil. Salt to taste. Heat gently and then ladle into bowls.

Garnish with additional cayenne or paprika and toasted sesame seeds.

A REUNION A Pleiadian Message

eloved ones, we greet you.

Humanity is beginning a new potential of awakening, as another phase of the “New Dawning” energy on your planet is about to become self-realized. In the month of December you are to be recalibrated energetically in readiness for a rebirth at the time of the New Year.

A process has been set in motion. There will be a series of realignments within the grid systems on your planet, lifting veils to reveal the hidden, while simultaneously your own systems will be undergoing rapid changes. All of these adjustments are to prepare you for a total reset of energy that will take place within planet Earth at the moment of the New Year.

At that precise moment there is going to be an actual physical shifting taking place between your Earth and sun. When this occurs, all the frequency settings within your planet will change. The repositioning of the sun gives Earth access to another facet of frequency of the sun’s rays, which contain the pure form alignments of the emanations of God. This repositioning is a pre-destined sacred forging that brings a profound shift within the magnetic core of Earth, creating a new dimensional cycle in the axis rotation point. These cycles will form a new patterned light frequency that will pulse and radiate outwards across the planet, lifting the veils of illusion, revealing Truth.

These changes are designed to reopen different energetic forms of multidimensional creation energy allowing a “mirrored effect” throughout the planet. The entire energetic frequency framework on your planet will begin a quickening process, heralding in the beginning of this profound change. The sun’s multidimensional rays will fully impact all grid alignments within Earth, shifting the full energetic spectrum.

These newly constructed energies that will unfold within this dimensional synergy will create a fluidity of patterned light.

This will penetrate through to all life force, expanding the consciousness of all who inhabit the Earth plane.

DEVELOPED PATTERNING This pure frequency patterning that will emerge from “the shift” is designed to interact through the heart cells. This developed patterning will strongly impact your individual ability to align deeper within your own unique sacred aspect that exists within the sphere of your heart.

Simultaneously, the Holy Vine membrane surrounding our Earth will begin a new phase of expansion. The membrane itself will carry a new fluid light of consciousness to us, designed to accelerate a consciousness awakening. This light will be absorbed within your heart chamber and flow into the brain receptor centers for access to higher consciousness.

Your heart chamber is to fulfill a new role for you as it responds to the God component frequency held within the sun’s rays. This sacred multidimensional realignment within your heart is designed to return you to a natural ability to manifest, as you anchor your Higher Self essence.

Remember, your heart has always been your only true and authentic reference point in your life. This Truth will become more pronounced as you open into the essence of the sun’s multidimensional rays realigning through Earth.

Throughout this entire month, your heart cells will be undergoing a metamorphic process that will be redesigning your heart electrically. You will find that you will be in a deepening process of “not knowing” as you move through a series of these energetic shifts within your heart’s chamber.

This recalibration process will enable you, during the time of this transition of New Year, to adjust within the expansion that the sun’s rays will bring. It is essential for those of you on the path to slow down and let go at this juncture of transformation. There will be challenges as you move through this preparatory phase. You will need to let go of all that you know, and move into another level of Trust.

SACRED RECONNECTIONS This unfolding within yourself now will enable you to fully utilize and participate within these sacred reconnections as the Earth and sun reposition into a multidimensional synergy in the New Year.

Energetic changes will be strong within the Earth plane throughout December in preparation for “the shift.” The energetic grids that have been established previously throughout the planet will be in a constant expanding multidimensional fluidity. This will create upheaval within you — and also throughout the planet — on all levels.

This will be a continuous building process leading right up to New Year.

The natural forces are designed to play a pivotal role in supporting “the shift” of the entire planet’s framework in readiness for the New Year. Each one of you is being called to engage with the natural forces to support the ongoing changes taking place within your systems. Lie on the Earth while

working with the sun’s energy. Open to the wind, the water elements and work with the creation energy held within the element of fire. All of these energies are designed to support you to prepare for this transitional phase.

Let go as this profound and expansive metamorphic shift takes place within all your systems. This initiation process is designed to create a shifting of your dimensional perspective within your consciousness, enabling you to begin to witness situations differently in your world and you will be able to perceive the changing light of conscious Truth within yourself. Do not be surprised if you suddenly, simply, know a Truth previously not understood or experienced. Your heart cells are going to reflect this new patterning coming onto the planet this month, elevating you to a new way of experiencing life. You simply need to let go!

As the New Year dawns, the potential for reconnection to clarity, truth and a remembering of your own essence unfolds.

This essence of brilliance will burst open across the planet, like a sun coming over the horizon. This process reveals a series of reflections of Truth that emanate directly through the sun’s rays. Understand that each one of you have a unique divine connection to these emanations of God held within the light rays of the sun. You are a unique aspect of God.

THE SUN’S RAYS As you move through December it is essential that you seek out the sun’s rays in preparation for this coming transitional phase. Always be conscious as you move your awareness to align to the sun’s light frequency. Know how significant your conscious choice will be as you seek out your own individual aspect of light that is held within the sun’s rays. Through this conscious action you are creating reunion to Self. You each carry a unique life force within you, and this action of engaging with the sun’s rays reclaims your own source of light essence. This process is designed to reopen a metamorphic realignment to the source of your Higher Self within your heart cells.

This unfolding is designed to expand and deepen your true alignments to the multidimensional aspect of Self through your Heart. This will be your time for rapid reconnection, reunion and remembering.

Within your heart exists the unlimited space in which you can truly function within your world on a multidimensional level. You are, by nature, a multidimensional being.

We, the Pleiadians, are transmitting stabilizing energies to open up your ener-

getic field to enable you to receive the latest energetic light patterns that the Holy Vine membrane is filtering down to you now.

Your heart cells will recognize these awakening patterns and will readily absorb the essence of the fluid light contained within the patterning. Your ability to stay balanced through this transmutation will be sourced within your heart.

This is your time to reenter the vastness of your heart through your conscious participation with the light rays of the sun before the New Year. Each ray will reflect your true essence of patterning that you are. Within these rays of light you can receive the renewal of a patterning of Self, flowing into the cells of your heart, the cells of your body. This patterning transforms your energetic framework and realigns the imprint of the sacred light that you carry. Prepare now to expand your sacred connection within your Heart, to open like a flower to the sun, taking flight like a moth to a flame. Rejoin the sun of which you are naturally a part.

PROCESS IN DECEMBER Throughout December, utilize this process to work with the sun in preparation for the changes coming at the New Year. Note: Do this process at least three times a week in preparation for the New Year: 1. Place both palms of your hands on your heart.

2. Bring your awareness into your heart and use the Conscious breath (breathing in the mouth and out of the mouth). Allow the connection into your heart to build.

3. Open your awareness into the energy of the sun as you continue to hold your heart (Whether it is the rising sun, or the reflected light of the sun, the sun coming through the window) Feel the warmth of the sun, consciously receiving the energy of the sun into your heart.

4. Now stay connected to the sun’s form while holding the heart and use the sound, ASTE, ASTE NYNE (pronounced astay, astay nine).

5. Open to receive through your heart, using the sounds as many times as you feel complete.

PROCESS AT NEW YEAR 1. Place both palms of your hands on your heart.

2. Bring your awareness into your heart and use the Conscious breath. Allow the connection into your Heart to build.

3. Bring in the sound, QUASTAHN (pronounced qwar-starn).

These activations will open you automatically into the new expanded realignment of God held within the sun’s rays. The sound will continue to support and fortify you through the next steps of transition on your planet Earth in the following weeks.

Use the sounds as many times until you feel complete within the moment.

CONSCIOUS BREATH We wish to emphasize the importance of the Conscious Breath in your life. Use the Conscious Breath in the moment to slow down during your day. This action will transform your day-to-day life, enabling you to open your awareness more completely within the moment as it unfolds within your life. This conscious action creates a weaving of your own unique patterning of light within the framework of your world.

You can begin to weave your consciousness within moments. This slowing down process in alignment with your Conscious Breath will develop a deeper, more complete inner connection through your heart chamber.

You are going to know and understand, in a more detailed way, about your mission here on Earth through these powerful shifts that will unfold as you navigate the New Year. You will begin to appreciate all of the elements of your process in your life that have brought you to this moment in time.

In retrospect, you will gain clarity of your role up to this point, and glimpse what your future role is to encompass.

Through a deepening of understanding of the vastness within your Heart space, there will come a moment of recognizing the “I AM” frequency of Self. Through this recognition, you will simply receive the full truth of your Higher Self at this monumental time of self-transmutation on a conscious level. You are going to be continually held and supported as you move through this level of upcoming transformation.

This time frame on Earth is about you consciously choosing to engage within your heart in your daily living experience, fully engaging within the extended consciousness of the light emanations of God from the sun’s rays.

We, the Pleiadians, are holding the platform of Truth within the planet to support this activation of your new transition being launched for those of you who are ready to regain your own mantle of light.

In reality you are the One. Through reconnection, the conscious light of your own being will radiate this Truth out to all humanity. We witness you as you prepare yourself to launch.

The Power of Love An Interview with Bob Fickes on the Quantum Evolution of Meditation ove. We all know its power, but how often do we consciously tap into love to assist us as we live out our lives? What are you experiencing from people in Thailand with your new Eternal Love Meditation program?

Such amazing open hearts and unity. Usually with my students, particularly in Japan, they tend to be in little groups, but here everybody is supporting each other and they’re really, really opening their consciousness and speaking from more wisdom. They are more light and love, cooperation and support.

You will be returning to Minnesota in January. What inspired you to reconnect with the Upper Midwest?

It’s where my heart is. There are so many of my friends there and I always love Minneapolis, even though for me it’s the worst time of the year in January. I’m not used to cold weather.

Let’s talk about meditation in general for a moment. What does the general public think meditation is and what is the real purpose of meditation?

I think the general public is getting more aware of meditation. There is a lot of mindfulness and other forms of meditation out there. People are gradually becoming aware that it is not just sitting with your eyes closed. I think they’re more focused on how to expand their mind, how to be more mindful, more attentive, more present in their life. These are all good things.

Meditation in its best form really lowers the metabolism by 16 to 20 percent, and it gives you very deep breaths and helps you to release stress. It opens your mind so that you have a much clearer perspective for everything that you are doing in your life, no matter what that is.

What is the difference between other forms of meditation and the mantra meditations you teach?

I personally feel that any form of meditation that someone does is going to be helpful. We need it. We need a break from our busy life and out active minds.

We need time to just settle and

connect to our self, so any form of meditation will do that. On the other hand, if you understand one thing, know that your mind is a creature of habit and it’s used to focusing and thinking in a certain way. You need to show your mind how to experience on more subtle levels, and for that you need something like a mantra.

It’s not a repetition, and it’s not trying to pronounce the word and think it over and over again. It’s about feeling the vibration and tuning into that vibration in more subtle ways.

It just naturally happens where you just slip into this deep state.

So, to me, mantra meditation is very valuable and the easiest for most people to do. I think people try too hard to meditate.

It’s like trying to go to sleep.

Meditation is a very natural state and, just like sleep, if we try to do it too much we don’t get there. We end up sitting there or lying there all night and nothing happens.

You created the Love Mantra a couple of years ago?

Yes, a couple of years ago I created it and then, right away as I saw the results, I wanted to come to Minneapolis and share it with all my friends there — and we had great results. People really loved it. What I didn’t realize then was that this was just the beginning of a whole new phase of meditation.

I think global consciousness is rising, despite what we may see on the exterior. People are becoming more conscious, more sensitive, and it’s just time for us to have the next step. Whenever we are ready, the Universe provides. What started out as the Love Mantra turned out to open a door for me to realize, first of all, that when we’re doing meditation it’s usually a mental process, like mindfulness — but what we really need today is not more mind-fullness, we need more heart-fullness. We need to be more sensitive, more compassionate, more loving to our self, more loving to others. That’s what the world needs.

even two years ago, particularly in Japan, that the word “love” is usually considered passionate love, so it’s not something they like to speak about out loud. In fact, for some people it is even a little bit embarrassing. As I looked at enlightenment and meditation, I thought, “Yeah, the reason I started meditation in the first place was to feel more love and to experience God, to experience the Universe.” Somehow, in all my years of teaching, the trend of meditation in general was so much about the mind, and I was not really remembering that this is about opening our heart.

Adding love to the process of meditation really changes the whole experience. For one thing you feel it more; it becomes more tangible.

How do you define the energy of love, and what is the Eternal Love Force that you speak of?

In Japanese they refer to Ku, which is the infinite space, silence, non-moving, and then they say Ki, which means life force — the Chinese pronounce it Chi. Meditation produces more life force.

Then I realized, as I was working with the Love Mantra, that I was saying it wrong.

It’s not life force, that’s still too flat. It’s love force. Love force is what created the Universe. Love force is the glue that holds it together. Love force is what drives it to achieve more.

Love force is the key. Where does it come from? It’s a part of the Universe. It’s a part of God. It’s a part of infinite space consciousness. Whenever our consciousness vibrates and starts to move, that first vibration, that first instinct, is always coming from love.

Then it rises up through our body, through our emotions, through our minds, and gets distorted. But the initial impact, the initial impulse, is the vibration of love, and that vibration wants us to evolve, to become more conscious, to be more compassionate, to start to recognize the world that we’re in.

We are not only a part of that world, we are the creator of that world. All that we have thought is what we are producing in our life. So, let’s change our thinking and be more loving and more centered and take more personal responsibility.

So, you’re actually calling for a love movement.

I don’t know that I would call it a love movement, because to me it’s a natural process.

More awareness of love.

Yes. That’s it. More awareness of love. I think this is something that everyone can relate to because it is a natural part of life, 1 2 W W W. E D G E M A G A Z I N E . N E T

but for some reason all of our programs have been, “I’ve got to work harder.” And everything is about the drive and we forget, “No, I’m really here to enjoy. I’m here to feel my life and to love in my life and to enjoy my life.”

You’re calling the Eternal Love Meditation process an upgrade from your Fulfillment Meditation that you have taught for years?

Yes. To really understand this, I think first we have to understand that when you are meditating your mind is involved because mind has to merge with our inner consciousness, our inner infinite consciousness. But, just mind alone cannot feel and it does not always know what results we’re getting from meditation. But, mantra allows mind to travel inwards because it’s a vibration of sound, and as we start to experience that vibration we do meld, we do get more subtle in our awareness. And when we add a yantra (image) to that, now we’re using two senses: the sense of hearing and the sense of sight, and we start to notice more.

We start to see more. We start to experience more. Now we add love. That’s a third sense, feeling. And, with these three combined — hearing, sight and feeling — meditation becomes a lot more tangible and we start to feel more encouraged and more enthusiastic to do it, and we grow faster.

Let’s talk about the four techniques of the Eternal Love Meditation. Remind us about the Love Mantra, and then we will move on to the other three new mantras that you have developed.

The Love Mantra is all about love, obviously, and the mantra that we use is the highest frequency of love. It’s the vibration of pure love, pure infinite love, what I call Eternal Love. The yantra is also a magnificent visual representation of the vibration of love. It uses the frequency of magenta, which is blue and pink. These two combined create violet, but if you add more pink to the blue it becomes magenta. Pink is the vibration of love, blue is the vibration of light force energy, power, and as you combine power with love, the love force becomes even greater, and if you add more love to that, the magenta is the frequency that takes us to the highest, most pure form of love.

The Love Mantra and Yantra, within just a few minutes, start to open our heart and we feel more — it’s more a centeredness in love, not just running away with our emotions. We get centered and love becomes a guiding force to help our emotions start to find what they are really looking for. It affects every emotion, even our negative anger. We’re angry because something is blocking our love, blocking our happiness. All emotions really are in some way just a distorted form of love, and

if we have more centeredness in love, all of the emotions start to clear out and realign with the purpose of love.

Now we have the New Life Mantra. Tell me about that.

The New Life Mantra is the next step. Once we start opening our heart, now we have to start to see, “Oh, where am I going?”

Where I’m going is not usually where I expected to go, because I was driven more by my mental logic, not necessarily what my heart was telling me I enjoy. Once we start to open the heart, the next step is to move into a new life, and that new life is not just spiritual, and it’s not just material; it’s both. The New Life Mantra actually has two mantras: one takes us deep into the Earth and grounds us; and the other takes us high in the sky and opens our awareness to a much broader perspective. When we do these two things simultaneously, we are helping to orchestrate our new life, which has to be both mindful of the things on Earth and our spiritual motivations at the same time.

Tell me about the Magnificent Life Mantra.

That one was a surprise. When it first came through I was really thinking that I wanted to do something more than just New Life and the Love Mantra. I realized, “Yes, this is all about living Heaven on Earth.” It’s not just about transforming our daily life.

It’s transforming it into our vision, into our dream of having a beautiful place for our children to live and for us to live and for all of Nature to live. Magnificent Life came out of that, and the mantra and yantra are based on an ancient tradition that is all about how to be in a life of service, a life of devotion, a life of caring about the Universe so much that you would do whatever you could so that the Universe is happy. In that way, you are happy. This is a mantra for the highest form of consciousness, we can call it God consciousness, and the yantra is a display of how to use our God consciousness, our more infinite eternal love consciousness, in a way that is in service to the Universe.

These are to motivate us to create a better way.

Finally, tell us about the Violet Fire Mantra.

I have been a channel for many years, and many years ago before I was getting back into teaching meditation I was doing a lot of visualizations from St. Germaine — and they all involved Violet Fire. Violet is the frequency of blue and pink, and it’s also the frequency of the crown chakra. When we use Violet Fire, we are integrating our physical, mortal self with our immortal Divine Heart. Violet Fire is the flame of ascension or transformation of our old life into a new vision, and that’s what inspired me when

I was teaching these other mantras. I realized, “I’ve got this tool that St. Germaine gave me so many years ago. What would happen if I used that tool and made a yantra from it and also brought through a mantra that suits that vibration?” It was amazing!

Violet Fire helps us to clear our emotions, clear our minds, clear our memories, but at the same time it helps to integrate our spiritual consciousness and bring it more into our daily life, and that’s magical! Many people are talking about leaving this Earth.

They want to go to the spiritual place.

People want to move out to the countryside where they are free of the big city and all the stress, but it’s time for us to embody our Divinity. It’s time for us to bring in all that magnificent love and all that beautiful God-awareness, the Universal awareness, and bring it into our body, into our life here.

The Violet Fire Manta does exactly that.

This package of the four mantras doesn’t even have to be done in sequence or succession anymore. That is the old style. Now it’s more about tuning in to see what we need.

A teacher can help us to do that, but also we have to tune into ourselves to see, “What do I really need?” Each of these mantras can be used in any order, and in this case it’s about: where are you going, what are you feeling, what does your consciousness need next?

When you come in January, you will be presenting the Love Mantra seminar. Will you be talking about the other three steps to the Eternal Love Meditation?

Yes, I will. In fact, I will be giving the Violet Fire Mantra to those who already have the Love Mantra.

This the first step. There is another step that has evolved just in the last six months.

Many years ago I was involved with the TM program, and at that time I learned what we called the TM Siddhi Program. Siddhis are the supernormal powers, the abilities to do things that can only be explained by quantum field. Modern physics can’t believe all these things. So we have all these stories of the Masters, including Jesus, doing things that are to us miracles, but they are really principles of the quantum field. They can be easily explained in a reality that’s free of friction, free of time, space.

So, I was looking at the TM Siddhi Program and I thought, “You know what?

That’s still just about power, and about abilities. We need to do something to deepen our awareness, to deepen our understanding of what is happening to us, what’s happening to my consciousness.”

For that I looked at what is called Vedanta, or Upanishad, and I started to develop a whole new system of sutras, short phrases that stimulate our Cosmic Mind and our

Cosmic Heart to realize the Truth.

Since I have been doing that, I have watched people grow so quickly! Once they have two or three of these mantras, they are ready to start the sutra program and, oh, my God! I have never seen such results, not in all my life. It’s a whole new ballgame.

I look at what I was teaching before and what I’m doing now and it’s a world of difference. It’s such an amazing upgrade.

And as miraculous as it seems sometimes, it is so normal and so natural. Everyone who starts to open in this way realizes, “Yeah, this is the way I’m supposed to feel. This is the way life is supposed to be!” When I look at the teachings of Jesus, it’s very much the same teachings as the Upanishads. God is love. The Kingdom of Heaven is within you. All the teachings of the great Masters revealed that they see everyone as a part of themselves, and everyone has inside of them that Divinity that is just waiting to be expressed.

This was like a quantum leap for you.

A huge quantum leap. When I first started teaching the Love Mantra, I had no idea what was coming. I’m upgrading everything that I do — all the healing techniques, everything that I’m doing. It’s very exciting!

It’s interesting that at the age of 71 I decide to move from my reality of 25 years in Thailand, back to America, and in that process I also start a whole new style of teaching and work that I’m doing. Before that, I was thinking, “Yeah, I’d really like to have more of a personal life. I’d like to kind of semi-retire.” Impossible!

Overall, what will people experience at your seminar in January?

The first thing they’re going to experience is a form of meditation that they can feel. It’s not just their imagination. They know this is meditation, and then the next obvious thing is they will start to feel that more and more throughout the course — not just when we are meditating, but through the interactions that we have. As their heart opens and their consciousness changes, people will come away from the course feeling it was the best thing they’ve ever done. I’m not just saying that to promote the course. This is what my experience is.

These techniques are amazing. In 50 years of teaching, I’ve never seen anything like this.

And the world’s ready. We need as much help as we can get these days.

When you’re in Minnesota in January, you also will present private readings and channelings. In a general sense, what are the Ascended Masters saying about this time of upheaval and transformation in which we are living?

Rather than saying what the Ascended Masters say, I’d like to quote my daughter, who is now 28 years old. Right after I moved back to the States, Trump got elected, and I said, “Oh, my God! What did I do? Why am I here?” As I was driving to dinner with her one night, my daughter said, “You know, Dad, I think what has really happened is there are many things that we believed years ago and Trump is here to take us back to those old beliefs and pick them up again and start to see if they work.”

These are pieces that we left undone, and even now many people are just taking for granted that, “Oh, yeah, this guy’s going to help us change the world, and we are going to have better jobs, and blah, blah, blah,” but these are our old beliefs. Our fundamental truth is that we are the makers and shapers of our life, and that life has to be shaped by love, not by blaming others, but by taking responsibility for ourselves, to change ourselves.

What the Ascended Masters are saying is very clear, that this is a time of upheaval and many challenges, but this is a time to look inside and just feel what is the right answer, what is the solution for my life. I can’t really rely on anything outside, particularly these days when everything is confused. We have to tune into ourselves.

It’s a time of transformation.

Thanks for speaking with me. Is there a message you would like to leave with our readers?

Don’t give up hope! I want people to really trust their heart and know that whatever is happening is a challenge for us inwardly, not outside of ourselves. We have to find different solutions from our heart. Our heart is the only thing that can get through this maze, because there is so much misunderstanding, so much misdirection.

That’s where meditation helps, because it gets us out of the distraction. A practical guide to using positive thinking to enhance your life

realize that there are some who may be frustrated by the positive psychology movement. Either you have tried it out and wondered why it’s not working or found it trivial to begin with. Alas, there is more to it than just reciting positive affirmations. It takes a little brain hacking to fully utilize the amazing tool that is positive thinking.

Here are a few tips to help navigate through the self doubt that comes up and bring you into alignment to what you truly desire for your life: • Being present is key — Our negative thinking typically originates from a storyline from the past that our mind is trying to insert into the present, or fear of not fulfilling a future narrative. In terms of positive thinking, it’s difficult to trick the brain into believing a positive thought if it is wrapped up in a story about how it didn’t work out for us before.

Instead of getting wrapped up in our conditioned responses, we can take one

moment to become aware of our present surroundings. Then test those thoughts to see if they are really true. The present moment is where we can truly enact change in our lives. So, the next time you get caught up in all of the negativity, remember to ask one simple question. Where am I now?

• Partner up with a positive buddy — The adage is true that misery loves company.

As we begin to shift into present moment awareness, it is common to be more attentive to the conversations and company we keep on a daily basis. In the journey to a more positive perspective, don’t be surprised if there are friends or family members who will try to bring us back down into the negative valley of despair.

That’s why it’s really important to align ourselves with someone who is also focused on creating a feel-good atmosphere. We can’t just stop talking to those we love just because they major in complaints. But we can reinforce our efforts to promote positive thinking by having someone that we can go to for encouragement and solace when the haters get us down.

The beauty of life is that we don’t have to live it alone, so if you’re struggling with optimism, find a cheerleader that can keep

you moving in the right direction.

• If thinking’s not working, try feeling instead — Positive thinking can be a hard sell to our minds at times, especially when we can’t see the tangible evidence of what we desire most. This can lead to some confusion about what it is we really want.

When it’s hard to get clear on our desires and doubt creeps in to deter us, it’s helpful to quit thinking about it. Instead, feel about it.

We give too much credit to the power of our thoughts. It can be more effective to lean into our hearts. Our emotions are usually more accurate than our thoughts anyway. A great tool for accessing our feelings is to do a daily gratitude journal as it brings us back to our centered self and provides awareness of what feels good in our present reality.

By using this practice, we have the power to allow our feelings to guide our thoughts instead of the other way around.

We all have believed in some amazing dreams at some point in our lives. Some of us abandoned them in childhood while others are perpetual dream chasers. Positive thinking is a fantastic way of manifesting your heart’s desire, and become amazing dream catchers. Unlike other things in life, energy can’t be faked in no uncertain terms.

Instead, try these helpful tips that will assist with alignment to your true purpose. a KATHERINE SEARCY focuses on relationships, with a specific focus on holistic healing methods. Positively native Spirit Leaves

T

he nun from Bishop McDevitt High who judged our debate called me a “natural negative.” I accepted her judgment as a compliment; decades later, I’m not so sure. A lonely book nerd and geek, I found refuge within theatre, debate and forensics. A born skeptic, a glance at this month’s featured topic rendered me a bit “naturally negative.”

Given the existence of The Secret and the Law of Attraction, what could I add to the mix?

Editor Tim Miejan put a spin on the subject that invited a possible angle. He asked that we explore the mind-body, mindreality connection. I read the prompt to Cedric Red Feather about “positive thinking” and “real healing,” and he replied, “They’re the same thing.” After some reflection, I realized the truth of his rapid-fire insight.

Positive thinking is the foundation of real healing. This is because all human dis-ease or illness results from negative states of consciousness. Often, we act from a deep, cavernous place inhabited by dark denizens of doubt, fear, mistrust and jealousy.

The way out is to flood this place with light and love. As Cedric puts it so succinctly, “Negative thoughts come from fear; positive thoughts come from love.”

My predilection for the negative shifted immeasurably in 1995 when I visited Cedric Red Feather in Tennessee. I noticed the way he conducted himself in the world, silently moving from one task to the next, smiling at people and merely laughing gently when they became difficult or contrary. If I made any comment that possessed even a tinge of negativity, instead of chiding or correcting me, he would just turn the remark around. He did this easily, seamlessly, gracefully.

Cedric really listened to people when they spoke. He did not interrupt them or immediately offer his “two cents.” Instead, he let them finish their thoughts. He looked past the surface into their hearts and offered whatever encouragement they needed.

He used very few words, but each word held light, insight, humor.

The language was simple, yet considered. Behold: I was in the presence of genuine speech and connection, the product of a positive mind and a loving heart.

Those two blissful months in which Cedric and I got to know each other in Memphis seemed like a dream. We had music, and poetry, powwows, and a sweatlodge at a friend’s house in Foristell, Missouri. In that brief stay in positivity paradise, I learned the art of turning things around. I would catch a negative idea even

before it was hatched, and I would flip it. After a while, I noticed that Cedric’s eyes lit up when I spoke. Everything that happened to us in the early days of our enduring friendship was sparkling and synchronous.

People misunderstand Cedric’s nature. Some call him “lucky,” or “a magician.”

He is neither. What he is, mainly, is genuine. He was blown off a tank in Vietnam, almost left for dead, and dragged off the battlefield by a Navajo named Ray Hoskie.

He survived skull fractures, a neck fracture, ruptured ear drums, embedded shrapnel, and temporary amnesia. He has endured post-traumatic stress syndrome that never leaves. Despite overwhelming life experiences, he has persisted in the spiritual — even when others around him have grown greedy or indifferent. Through fasting, sweatlodges, sundances, the pipe, prayer and meditation, he has remained positive in the face of every adversity.

I like the three-word slogan coined by Mike Dooley very much.

I listened to a YouTube version of one of his talks. He extends three fingers, one at a time, saying, “Thoughts become things.”

A person must be willing to take personal responsibility for every thought, every word, every action. It has nothing to do with trying to be perfect, or with earning brownie points for admission into Heaven. Everything we think eventually appears as the reality through which we move. Thus, we can start small. here are many priceless benefits of positive thinking. When we live in the place of joy, peace and love, our world is happier, brighter and full of desired experiences.

But what happens when something less desirable happens? Many advise us to reframe, focus on the positive or find the silver lining.

These are helpful tactics, but there is another perspective to embrace.

Our world is one of duality and we cannot fully embrace the positive without the flip side. We would never know joy without sorrow or contentment without dissatisfaction.

We are taught from an early age to stop crying, ignore ridicule and speak kind words. These messages tell us that our feelings are not allowed and appreciated, and we often unknowingly pull them in and shove them down where they cannot be seen.

he 2017 World Happiness Report reported Norway has the happiest people, followed closely by Denmark, formerly the happiest.

A number of factors contribute to the making of a happy nation. Life evaluations are studied in the World Happiness Report, and the focus is on a number of different measures, including: life expectancy, gross domestic product per capita, absence of corruption in government and business, social support, freedom to make life choices, and levels of generosity.

The most important factor is social support, the greatest determinant of health and survival. Our interconnectedness is highlighted in social support roles and volunteering, and our levels of giving. When these are strong and vital in a country’s culture, this contributes to general overall happiness.

Danish culture focuses very strongly on its social bonds and ties, while ironically having the second highest level of antidepressant use in Europe. This may be that the climate is one in the upper northern hemisphere and correlates with lower levels of light, and because Danish culture is described as supportive and encouraging, perhaps it is more socially acceptable to take antidepressants.

Hygge is a concept that is unique to Scandinavia, and Denmark in particular. It means being cozy and comfortable. It is an entire lifestyle and mindset, and researchers who have studied it say it encompasses not only is a way of setting forth the home environment, and being hospitable to guests, neighbors and peers, but it permeates throughought all of Danish society.

Perhaps Danes have recognized that suffering is a normal experience, and to receive support and have it acknowledged rather than denied is to come close to realizing total healing after a difficult event.

SACRED SPACE I recently embarked on desire to create a sacred space in the home — doing daily rituals to promote mental health and wellbeing — but after a recent death in the family I came to the realization that suffering is inevitable.

Positive thinking denies that people get hurt, and Western society’s trap is the embracing of happiness over everything, to the point that depression, or our darkness, is avoided and is a taboo subject.

Buddhism teaches in the First Noble Truth that all of life is suffering, pain and misery, and says in the Second Noble Truth that all suffering is caused from desire and

our craving for something. “Suffering in his teaching does not necessarily mean grave physical pain, but rather the mental suffering we undergo when our tendency to hold onto pleasure encounters the fleeting nature of life, and our experiences become unsatisfying and ungovernable,” Sharon Salzberg writes in her interpretation of Buddhism’s Second Noble Truth.

Buddhism does not eradicate negative thinking, but pushes people towards an awareness of the reality of suffering, and how to cope with the reality of the darker side of life. Can positive thinking can actually sabotage your happiness, realizing that not everything is possible?

NOT AVOIDING IT Is it better to dispense with positive thinking altogether, which in itself is a form of denial, and can lead to a suppression of reality? Pain, injury, illness, suffering and death are inevitable, and failures happen. Perhaps the best way to cope with an understanding of the negative in life is to not deny it, not to try to avoid it — like the Buddhists who follow the Eight Fold Path to happiness, and the Danes who provide a supportive, comforting and socially supportive culture — and bring to mind reality.

Yes, suffering happens, and grief and pain are realities. However, we can create in our lives a microcosm of sacred space, and rituals where we can promote healing, such as meditation, gentle walks, and hygge in our homes and communities. From the microcosm of the home, to the macrocosm of our communities and nations, embracing social supports, accepting the negative in our lives, and viewing acceptance of these things as inevitable can aid in true healing.

Positive thinking suppresses and denies our emotional states. Accepting the negative, the dark and the ugly in our world, makes us more appreciative of the light. And when we focus on the positive, and are open to receiving that social support, and creating space in our lives for the tenets of the Eight Fold Path, kindness and hygge, we come to a more balanced and smoother state of equilibrium — and then real healing is inevitable. a LORI WOODWARD is a metaphysician, studying her thesis in Rituals and Mental Health, and looking at the Kabbalah. How to stay positive in challenging times

A

s I am about to write this article, I notice there is a lot of noise around me. At first, I find the sounds disturbing, but I soon return to the practice I have used so many times: to become fully present, in my body and in the place I am in, and to listen to all the sounds.

Listening to all the sounds at the same time without judging. No sound is better than another. Listening as if the sounds were music playing in the background.

Reminding myself that the peace I am seeking is within. As I write this, I go within and allow the peace. I experience the peace that is behind or beyond the “disturbance.”

So often, we are being carried away by negative thoughts and feelings because we resist, judge or think too much about how things “should” be, instead of allowing them to be as they are.

For me, this is the first and fundamental step: to be fully present with what is, without judging. Realizing that while I am not always in control of what happens around me, I am in charge of how I respond.

I can choose my response.

But what about the feelings and the thoughts? It is not always easy to “control” them. How do we “make” them positive?

When you come from the heart — from that place of unconditional love and nonjudgment, you can allow what is, and find peace in the midst of chaos. That inner

peace that is always within you, and that you will discover in moments where there is no resistance.

It is when you find yourself in that place of peace — even in a challenging situation — that you can introduce your intention for what you want to or choose to think and feel.

You are the creator of your own life to a much greater extent than you may realize.

Negative feelings and thoughts tend to overtake and paralyze, and you can avoid that by choosing how you want to feel.

Simply setting the intention for how you want to feel or be today can create a big shift within. It allows you to stop the automatic negative stream of thoughts and feelings. You don’t have to take on all the negativity of those around you. You don’t have to be upset and take on all the problems of the world around you. If you do, you won’t be much good to anyone, for it is only from a place of peace, compassion and non-judgment that you can be the positive force, which creates a path for others to follow — a path that can be sustained over the long term.

The practice of gratitude is one of the simplest and most powerful practices for staying positive. By choosing and focusing on gratitude, you don’t ignore or avoid what’s “negative.” No, you choose to see the light in the darkness — all the blessings that are in your life that may often be

overlooked or taken for granted, and not truly appreciated when negative feelings and thoughts fill you.

Whether it is a personal loss or struggle, or it is a world event, being fully in the Now with an attitude of appreciation is one of the ways to stay centered, positive and see a way forward.

Positive thinking used this way is healing.

Here are two action steps for you that I have personally found very effective and powerful: • Practice being present as often as you can during each day. Just being fully present in your body and in the place you are in. No judgment.

• Begin a gratitude practice. Set time aside each day to practice gratitude. My husband and I like to go for a short evening walk before dinner, and we each state three things we are grateful for.

Try these two simple practices, and notice what a difference they make in your life when you do them on a regular basis.

to the value of feeling all of our emotions. When you feel a lessdesirable emotion like shame, guilt, sadness or distrust, sit in the feeling. Be brave. Let the emotion wash over you and fully feel it. It is understandable that we would want the uncomfortable haze to go away as soon as possible, but we have these feelings for a reason. They are messages with lessons. They are teaching us about our conscience and the world around us. They teach us empathy.

When we learn our personal stance, we often raise our standards of thought and behavior towards ourselves and others. This can also be described as raising our consciousness.

Let’s use shame as an example.

If we feel shame, we are feeling we have behaved in a way that is not acceptable. This is our chance to reevaluate the situation and decide if we will continue this particular behavior or if we feel the other person in the situation should have behaved in a different manner. This feeling will come up again throughout our lives until we have resolved it or learned its meaning in our lives. Our world would be much different if, instead of someone telling us, “You should be ashamed,” we asked ourselves, “Why do I feel shame?”

Often these undesirable feelings will linger for days, weeks or longer.

The reason for this is that our conscious and subconscious mind are processing the information in an attempt to resolve it. Some people process on their own, some people talk with friends or family, and others discuss the feelings with a professional. Every journey to navigate emotions is unique.

It is easy to get stuck in a cycle of negative emotions, but if we make the effort to avoid blame, understand, learn and grow from less-desirable emotions, in the long run, our positive emotions will be stronger and more sustainable. This is of benefit to ourselves and those around us. Unity is the answer

I

traveled to Israel to be in total immersion and witness how people from the world’s major Abrahamic religions live together in such a small area. I spent almost a month in the Holy Land, traveling to many places in the country from Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Jerusalem, Haifa, Akko and Tzfat. I saw separation, division and conflict, but I also had a glimpse of humanity together with respect and acceptance.

The journey to the Holy Land is not like any other journey I have ever experienced in the past. It was a journey that shackled my being and stirred up my soul — a roller coaster of emotions from sadness, anger to happiness, joy and connection. It was definitely an inner journey in the contraction and expansion of my heart.

The Holy Land is a reflection of our collective state: a representation of the situation of humanity with our egos, hurts and pain and religious affiliation and identities — an experience of the collective that represents our individual life.

I saw two brothers from the same father living in the same house but they were invisible to each other. One is a descendant of Isaac and the other is a descendant of Ishmael. Both brothers have amazing hearts and a profound connection to the Divine, yet they are so separate from each other.

Stories and dogmatic beliefs are embedded in their psyches. Additionally, layers of hurt and emotional pain are troubling their beings.

I was welcomed with open arms in each

brother’s house. The first question I was asked was where I was from. As soon as they heard that I was originally from Morocco, one brother assumed instantly I was a Moroccan Jew and the other assumed I was a Moroccan Muslim.

I felt deeply in my heart that I’m a Jewish and a Muslim lady. Religious affiliations don’t matter for me! The different scriptures and ways of worshipping and contemplating God are given to us for the purpose of uniting with God and to each other, but we get caught up with the dogmas and the religious rules so we have lost the essence of the Truth.

I was absolutely amazed by the love, kindness and generosity in the two brothers, but also deeply saddened by the division between each of them. Each one is holding very tight to the dogmatic and religious beliefs that caused us the loss of the essence of God, which is Love.

Now, the conversation is not about who is right or who is wrong. The conversation is about how we can build bridges and bring people together to accept, respect and unite for the name of Love. Without each other, we cannot assume that we are living in the spirit of God. It is the spirit of separation and destruction that brought us where we are today.

The answer is in the path of love, compassion, mercy and peace that leads us toward forgiveness, acceptance and respect for each other.
