Mary Hayes Grieco to present forgiveness workshop at Spirit United Community Author and spiritual counselor Mary Hayes Grieco will lead a four-hour spring workshop on the art and practice of forgiveness from 2-6 p.m.

Saturday, March 28, at Spirit United Church, 3204 Como Ave. SE, Minneapolis.

Mary is the author of several books, including most recently Unconditional Forgiveness, and she is one of the world’s foremost experts in the emerging field of forgiveness. She is director of The Midwest Institute for Forgiveness Training (www. forgivenesstraining.com, www.maryhayesgrieco.com).

Flower Essence Therapy helps with Seasonal Affective Disorder Summer flowers lighten the winter blues

by Kyra Mesich, PsyD. If you find that winter hits you hard, and you struggle with symptoms like depression, irritability and fatigue throughout the cold months, you are not alone. Many people who are in the same boat have found natural approaches — light therapy, saunas and supplementation with Vitamin D and fish oils — to be helpful for keeping body and spirit up throughout the winter.

But there is one other lesser-known treatment that can make a world of difference to ease winter blues: Flower Essence Therapy.

Flower essences are energetic remedies made from the flowers of various plants and trees. Because the name sounds similar to essential oils used in aromatherapy, people tend to confuse the two, but flower essence therapy is a unique type of energy medicine in a class all its own.

Essences are made co-creatively with nature. Flowers are gently harvested from the plants, which are otherwise unharmed and respected.

Then their energetic pattern is transferred to water, which is bottled and taken in drops. Although they may sound delicate, flower essences provide powerful healing support to transform emotional and spiritual issues. Doors open to your own conscious light dimensional reality experience.

This “play out” needs to stop, because you have all come here through conscious choice to make a difference on your earth plane.

You each get to choose consciously your actions with an understanding that these actions create distinct forms of energetic ripples within your own world. You get to choose each moment to do things differently.

Know this: You create ripples wherever you go. Begin to comprehend the immensity of your power. You impact and create on your earth plane. You create these energetic ripples through your heart space with love or through your ego mind fear/separation.

A Pleiadian Message

by Christine Day Beloved ones, we greet you…. We witness you as you take your next steps through the Illumination waves as they continue to intensify dimensionally on your planet. These expanded energetic waves carry a transformational frequency that is going to open doors of opportunity to all human beings, giving each one of you access to a higher realm of your own light consciousness. It’s as though your energetic field is opening up to realign to the blueprint memory of your own sacred reconnections.

The melting away of your 3rd-dimensional illusion has been activated on another level through the Illumination waves, releasing you from the prison you have been held in for lifetimes. There is a continual birthing of fluidity that will support you to consciously release your self from this place of illusion.

The frequencies held within the Illumination waves will assist you by opening your senses on another level to enhance your ability to perceive Truth. You will be able to more easily perceive the illusion in your life, and through this fluid aspect being anchored right now, you will be able to disengage from that illusion.

This disengagement allows you to consciously choose your experience, rather than being like a “leaf in the wind” and feeling out of control — no longer being a victim, but aligning to the truth of your free will choice of what is right for you in the moment. You will align naturally into your heart’s desire to choose freely what brings you joy!

You are being called to step forward and claim your Self at this time — to play your part consciously so that you can utilize what is being offered to you. You have an opportunity to reach forward with your consciousness and engage within this process of self-renewal and reconnection to the higher dimensional aspects of Truth.

Now is the time for alignment to Truth.

This is the time for your liberation. This is what we have called the “new dawning” of your planet. Your way home to this freedom is found through your own heart space.

To unite in love

There is an urgent call going out to all of you as this level of the Illumination energies builds and anchors through your earth plane. This call asks that you begin new steps of alignment with each other. You are being called to unite in love.

To do this, you need to open a process of perceiving “separation” and how it has been a stable experience on your earth plane for lifetimes. Your first step is to begin to review this practice of separation in your own life.

Making the difference

You are the center of your Universe.

Everything exists within you. Everything always begins within you. Your energy arises from your heart center and then naturally ripples outwards. We liken your heart center to the still surface of a pond. A pebble is being thrown into the still surface of your pond, and this creates ripples moving outwards across the surface of the pond.

With each thought or action, like a pebble, there are ripples that you create. These ripples move outwards across the surface of your pond influencing your life and affecting humanity.

You are the still surface of the pond. This is the center of your heart and each moment you get to begin anew. You get to choose how you are going to respond in each given moment. You get to choose what you wish to create in the form of those ripples.

The understanding of this process can begin to link you back into your personal power. You will begin to notice and understand the impact you can make in each moment through those ripples on the surface of your pond as the creator in your life.

Begin to understand and know the impact each one of you makes as you consciously choose to align to your heart center, becoming re-connected to that still surface of the pond, that aspect of you.

You can and you do make the difference — not through grand gestures, but in the small quiet moments in your life: in the way you accept your self, in the way you treat others, as you open up to greet the natural forces, the rising sun. These are the sacred moments that will nourish you and make a difference by the energetic ripples that move from your heart center out into the world.

Every moment you choose to do something with consciousness — to choose not to separate, to choose to support your self, to accept your self for your vulnerabilities — you create a powerful ripple within your pond that makes an incredible alteration to all humanity. Choose your moments, empower your self and you empower all human beings. You forge an energetic path for others to follow through these positive heart ripples.

You may have felt it is easier or safer to work from a powerless state of “not knowing,” of not wanting to take responsibility. That time is now over. Don’t be afraid of your power, or change. You have come here to do things in another way — and you not alone.

You are tremendously supported at this time.

As you realign into “change,” you will feel your self waking up. You will feel a new sense of well-being within you. You will be able to experience the magnitude of playing your part of a collective energy and feel your place. You will feel alive!

Creating ripples

It is the time to open up consciously to your power and be accountable for your actions, and to be joyful for your reconnection to this aspect of Self. Yes, it’s true that your limited 3rd-dimensional beliefs have kept you in a powerless place in the past, acting out being small and insignificant. This ego belief has been one of the greatest illusions anchored on your earth plane to keep you in a separated state. All your current limitations are connected with the programming of the ego mind linked directly from your 3rd

An important focus right now is to begin the conscious process of exploring how your ego mind continues to create separation.

This separation is created through a series of misperceptions and misunderstandings of the ego mind. The misperception of you being insignificant creates competition between your self and others. The misperception of you not being good enough creates isolation, betrayal, guilt and pain.

lead to self-judgment. This self -judgment becomes a mirror that you begin to reflect outwards to others, so you judge others as you judge your self and the separation builds.

Some of you create subtle judgments about other people. This creates a ripple of separation. This need to judge is your fear in action within your ego mind. It is one thing to witness someone being a certain way and it is another energy to judge that person.

You can witness someone without judgment, understanding that each person has his or her own individual journey to take and each person has the right to do what they need to for their own experience, including your self.

You are being asked to begin a conscious acceptance of your self and all of your idiosyncrasies, all of your vulnerabilities. Remember you are human, “perfectly imperfect.” You have come here to have this human experience in order to learn. You have not come here to judge your self on your choices, on your actions. It is the time to let go of judgments and instead begin to understand the importance of self-acceptance, and the acceptance of others.

Healing your heart space

This willingness to change will allow a healing of old wounds created by abandonment and betrayal from past experiences. This is a step-by-step process, to be willing to allow a healing of your own heart space by accepting all of your learning experiences in life.

You are ready to move into the next step of your evolvement here. This is the time to let go of the “I” and join in the collective energies and move into sacred unions with others. Your planet needs the energy of community without ego now. It requires each individual to bring in their own divine quality to the whole community so that there is enrichment to all within that community.

There can be no real competition between any one of you. Each one of you has your uniqueness to bring to your community.

As you become more defined in the presence of each other, you actually can only give power to each other. Part of the magic of the community group within this sacred union is acceptance of all members. It’s in this acceptance that love exists, that the illusion of fear is let go. There is liberation within the group dynamic through your heart. The ego will not understand the new dimensional levels that are available to you now. You need to follow your heart and hold your ego with love and compassion.

Your willingness to move towards your self and others is enough to activate a new pathway, a birthing within. As you say “yes,” your heart space naturally opens to a different dimensional setting and you carry a new frequency ripple that will create positive change through your life.

Choose freedom, abundance and open into an unlimited space in which you can create your world within your pond through your ripples. The energies are here to support you now as you consciously choose to take a step away from old self-imposed restrictions.

Simply change you mind and your focus, then your life can and will transform. Choose now to alter just one element of your limited thought pattern.

We give you a sacred process for this transformational time: • Place your palm of your hand on your heart space, bring your awareness to the pressure of your hand and take a breathe into the space, like a soft wind.

by bringing your awareness into the opening of your heart. Do this three times and just let go. Build this connection to the pond within your heart and begin to witness the creation of your ripples.

This is the time where your power can resurface. It takes just one moment of you choosing to do something differently, by claiming your free choice to be moved into another energetic flow within your heart center. You do this simply by letting go of one restricted belief that you have placed around your self. You hold a grand capacity to create through the surface of your pond. When you change one restriction, the ripples go out into your outer world. You begin to align to the flow of Truth that is always contained within the ripples.

Moment by moment you can claim your right to move beyond your perceived restrictions. In reality, there are no limitations.

Now is the time for you to contribute with the frequency that is held within your heart center, your fluid pond, your conscious ripples. Your frequency is needed for the well-being and transformation of your planet and all humanity.

Your ability to hook up to this frequency of truth and love will be accelerating on your earth plane this month. Choose to be a part of the flow within this current through the ripples you create on the surface of your pond. Take your place and be seen. Sacred Fire Power

by Bridgette Doerr I sat close to the fire. I could barely feel the chill of the evening that had my teeth chattering moments before. The flames moved as if they were tribal dancers. There was a ceremony as they leaped and swayed. I had not noticed the power of the light before. I have always appreciated the warmth of the sun-like glow of the campfire, but I have not been witness to the performance of the flame until this cold April night.

Maybe it was the spirit of the women who had walked beside me down to the stone circle. You could see the glow from a distance. Arm in arm, we filled the space so that the circle of the fire was a ring of women. The beautiful voice of a siren’s song echoed through the air, sweetly providing the music for the dance of the light.

One by one, we gave our offering, held in the glow of resurrection. Many promises were made this night. Many. So many sparks rose up to meet the stars as resistances were melted away with ease.

Fire is indeed powerful. It is sacred. It called us in and transformed our spirit into oneness.

United heart to heart as we embrace the possibility of what we can do. Letting the fire take away all the can’t. All the limits gone. As the flames danced. The light forming into individual performers as if to acknowledge the individual in each of us. To honor our contributions to this group, to this life, to this world.

And so it is.

This was the initiation for my work with the element of fire. Not long after my mentor and friend, Red Turtle Bear made his spirit journey home, I received the gift of fire. It is a tool I hold reverent. As an advocate for Divine Feminine empowerment, I use this power tool often.

I invite you to open your heart to it now as you read this. At first, I had no idea what a big deal this was, to be gifted fire, to be a fire bearer, until I had to use it. I have always worked in transformation as a coach and psychic, but now I was given the duty of clearer. how to start practicing it. It doesn’t cost any money and it’s something you can do in 45 minutes in your house on Saturday morning with the phone turned off.

I have yet to practice forgiveness towards something in my life and not be astonished at how much lighter and clearer and healthier I feel immediately afterwards.

Forgiveness — an ancient practice shared by the world’s spiritual traditions — is much more than most of us think it is. It is not having to give in and absolve someone of a transgression. It’s not about having to accept the unacceptable. Mary Hayes Grieco — philosopher, healer, author, teacher, lover of God and ordinary things — is on a personal mission to help us understand that forgiveness actually is one of the most effective tools to heal the physical body.

It’s all about releasing discordant energy that we hold in our bodies. Resentments.

Disappointments. Failed expectations.

Judgments. Self-condemnation. The body doesn’t work well when these energies are carried around with us wherever we go.

Thousands of new studies are revealing that toxic emotions are the root of stress-related diseases, and as Mary said in an interview with The Edge, forgiveness reduces stress and improves our health.

Mary Hayes Grieco will present a fourhour workshop on Forgiveness on Saturday, March 28, at Spirit United Church in Minneapolis, sponsored by Ancient Mysteries / Ancient Wisdom, the Minneapolis branch of Theosophical Society – Adyar. She is one of the world’s foremost experts in the emerging field of forgiveness. She is director and lead trainer of The Midwest Institute for Forgiveness Training in Minneapolis, and she is author of Unconditional Forgiveness: A Simple and Proven Method to Forgive Everyone and Everything. She also is a spiritual mentor and a forgiveness healer at The Well Healing Arts Center in Minneapolis.

Mary served on staff at the Hazelden Treatment Center for more than 16 years, and she has offered workshops on her method of forgiveness in the United States, Ireland, Germany and Kuwait. She spoke at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in 2005.

A highly respected spiritual teacher based in Minneapolis, Mary Hayes Grieco is an original and expansive thinker who has inspired thousands of people since she first began teaching spirituality classes in 1982.

The following is our conversation with Mary on forgiveness and her upcoming workshop at Spirit United.

To prepare for this interview I went online and saw the talk you gave at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community. You described forgiveness as releasing an expectation that is causing us to suffer, and that was something I had never heard before.

MHG: That is my working definition of

forgiveness.

constant chip on one’s shoulder, how does forgiveness play a role in changing the energies of what these people are experiencing?

Mary Hayes Grieco: It plays a huge role

in that, and I think people don’t realize that when they are walking around feeling upset, resentful, exhausted, stressed out, and having physical symptoms from all of that. They don’t realize that they’re smack in the middle of a forgiveness issue and that they could open up and embrace forgiveness as a health habit, just like you would if you were trying to deal with a physical health condition with medicine.

Forgiveness is the medicine of the whole being in times like that, but most people don’t understand that forgiveness is a gift for us and our own well-being — and they don’t know how to do it.

They certainly don’t see it as a remedy to achieve wellness.

MHG: They don’t, and it’s just a mystery to

me. A forgiveness issue is the problem. It’s the thing that’s bothering you. And you don’t realize that you have the medicine you need right at your fingertips. The key is to educate yourself on what forgiveness is and

I thought that was pretty interesting because it implies that our expectations are the source of our emotional stress.

MHG: That’s exactly right. I’m in the busi-

ness of putting that out there as the new definition of forgiveness. There are so many misconceptions around forgiveness. The definition that I have used in my work for 25 years is that forgiveness is releasing an expectation that is causing me to suffer. It’s so user-friendly and it’s so non-religious, and yet it’s so specific to your situation.

We have life situations and we have relationships, and if they are not matching up with the expectations we have in our minds of how it was supposed to be or how they are supposed to act — and if we cannot cross the gap between reality and expectations, then we have this static inside. What heals the static is to see reality as it is and be willing to love it as it is, as you release this expectation that you have of what you thought it should be.

Of course, we have to make adjustments in life. We can’t just be victims. We can’t just put up with toxic people or people who are disrespectful or cruel. We have to draw lines and have boundaries and break up with them or adjust our connection to them. The old understanding of forgive and forget doesn’t work, and we all know that, but we need to forgive and remember, meaning: We do the healing and clearing work to adjust our understanding of reality as it is right now, and we remember what’s true about our life situations and what’s true about other people, and we make new decisions accordingly.

For instance, in a personal example from my life, my husband, who is my dearest friend and soulmate, has had a chronic illness for 30 years, so that’s a life situation.

If I wake up in the morning and have an expectation that he will want to suddenly,

energetically, run out to breakfast with me and play all day long, I will be disappointed, because it’s very likely that he does not have the energy to do that. But, if I have made my peace with my life situation, which is that my dear partner has a chronic illness and that day-by-day I have to meet him the way he is, then I have both peace with my situation and more love for him because I am able to see all the goodness that he is and has and brings to the table instead of thinking, “Oh, he can’t keep a full-time job. He can’t do this, he can’t do that.”

I’ve released those expectations, because we have this situation of this illness, but I’ve opened up to the best and highest good that this can be.

If I stay clear that way with my spouse, my partner, and with forgiveness, then I’m with a lovely guy all the time.

So the process begins by monitoring our sense of reality and our expectations?

MHG: The process begins with us being tired of

being frustrated. We’re tired of being tired. We’re tired of not being happy. We think, “You know, I know I should be happy, but every day I’m just sort of ticked off all day long and I kind of growl at a lot of people, and I won’t feel good. Wahhh.”

When we get tired of ourselves enough, then we ask the question deeply enough, “What’s going on? What do I need to make peace with?” And we identify something.

“Okay, well, I’ve got this kind of chronic irritation with my spouse and I’ve got this disappointment in what happened in my workplace this year, and my sister has got an illness and it’s causing a lot of stress in the family and some issues have come up.” Just stop and put the lens on to see what kind of emotional issues are afoot in your life, and you realize that you are actually carrying a lot of weight and baggage that has to do with unprocessed, unintegrated emotion.

Then you make the little short list and you start going to it. It’s kind of like if you join a gym and you think, “Okay, I’ll do a little aerobic, a little weights, a little this, a little that.” You decide to clear up your problems from the inside out. So, step one is being willing to move forward. Step two is taking the time and space to really go into your heart and your feelings and find out what emotions are there and let them out. Let them out freely. Then we move on to step three where we identify in a simple, but powerful, way: “What is the expectation I need to release right now in order to be at peace with my life day by day?”

There are eight steps in the method that I use, and those are the first three.

To what degree does emotional stress play a role in the disease process?

MHG: I think it’s really pretty huge, and more and

more studies have come out to support that. I think we all know that intuitively.

Intuitively, if we are emotionally distressed for a while, it affects our sleep, it affects our central nervous system, and it affects our ability to be resilient and respond to things in a lighthearted way. If you have enough of this going on long enough, you have too much cortisone in your

body and you basically are wearing out your parts with stress hormones.

A lot of studies done in the last 15 years are making that link between emotional toxicity and disease, and they’re also making a link between forgiveness and stress reduction. If people are curious about those studies at all, they can go to my website Forgivenesstraining.com and find the research studies.

I think this is something that grandma knew — because grandma always knew. It’s basic common wisdom that resentments are harmful for us. I think we just haven’t been willing to do forgiveness because we’re afraid it means that we’re giving up on something that we need to hold on to, but things change once we understand that forgiving is not about excusing something, and it’s not saying that something is okay. It has nothing to do with justice or injustice. It really has to do with clearing up our connection to that so we are at peace. Then it’s just a whole different frame on forgiveness.

What can those who attend your workshop on March 28 expect to experience?

MHG: I want to talk about some of the things we

have been talking about today, Tim. It’s about stripping away the myths and the nonsense that surrounds this really important spiritual principle and offering this new view that I have, which basically says that forgiveness is for you. It’s something that can be accomplished in less than one hour, and it’s something that permanently heals the distress that’s inside you and helps you to move on.

So at the workshop I’m going to take apart some of these myths that get in people’s way and cause resistance to the forgiveness process.

We’re going to talk about how it’s not hard and it doesn’t take a long time, and that it’s not the same as reconciliation and working things out with people. I’m going to share that even the biggest stories can be resolved through forgiveness.

My work is to take forgiveness apart, in terms of what’s in your way of embracing this. And then I will talk about forgiveness as an amazing tool for those who are serious about their enlightenment, for those who are serious about traveling their full human journey that is theirs to do and becoming connected and full of God’s light and energy.

That’s what I’m all about. I’m doing forgiveness because I want to be full of God’s light and energy.

I want my soul to be grounded in my body and shining and serving the world. Forgiveness helps me to be that person. It helps me to be a light.

We’ve been invited by the Great Ones, by the Great Masters to become a light unto ourselves and others and forgiveness is part of that pathway.

What led you to this path of forgiveness in your life?

MHG: I was wishing to find my purpose. I was a

very serious spiritual student and wanted to find my best pathway to enlightenment. I was praying about this back in 1986, when I was 32, and I was really asking to be shown my way — my way of healing myself and becoming myself and my way of serving others. Emergence: Surfacing in Light Spirit Leaves

by Janet Michele Red Feather In a world of artifice, we long to feel vital and energized. Many of us are caught up in the insular life of the bourgeoisie. From the metallic heat of closed cars in the morning commute to the carpeted comfort of our homes at night, we lead sheltered lives.

Culling from online dictionaries, I learn that “to emerge” may mean invariably to surface, to become apparent, to manifest oneself, or to become prominent. Truthfully, I feel somnambulant a good deal of the time. How, then, can I pull off the miracle of emergence?

“To surface” suggests coming up for air. Having had past lives as a cabin boy and pirate who drowned at sea, this one commands my respect. In this chemical environment, I forget to breathe. Deep breathing restores a sense of calm and peace. I resolve to substitute a long, sustained breath for the kind of staccato, shallow breathing familiar to me. Immediately, a sense of tranquility replaces my troubled ruminations.

This next definition — to become apparent — challenges me to clear the haze that obscures my true nature. I am of the light. In meditation, I imagine myself radiating gentle beams of white light outward into the Universe. Emitting light overwhelms the darkness and other more negative emanations so abundant in the world.

Another denotation is “to manifest” oneself. This is problematic, because it begs the question: “Who and what am I?” At this point, I begin to panic a bit, hoping what my beloved editor really intended was a tidy “how to” article about spring clearing and cleaning…or else, perhaps, a poetic nature treatise chronicling the melting of a long winter into a sparkling spring awakening. I then get a grip, realizing he’s introspective like me and likes a good philosophic excavation every now and then. It’s simple: thoughts create our world. I must decide in every waking moment what I wish to project.

The inside must match the outside harmoniously.

The final definition implores that we “become prominent.” It’s taken sixty winters to identify my authentic self. In emerging, I will not shrink from nor apologize for who I am. I am here to clear

karma, and to cultivate an affinity with all beings. I’m grateful to all those who taught me, but I am a child of the Holy Ones. I determine to assume with confidence my rightful place in the world, perhaps offering a little ray of light by virtue of all I have learned and experienced.

If we each emerge, we will no longer revere only a select few as gurus and teachers. Each of us will be “guru” for the other. An Iroquois woman I met in California used to say to us, “You never know where you will find a Medicine Man or Woman. He or she could be the person sitting next to you.” She wanted us to regard all people as Sacred and Holy.

A wise one could be a vendor in a mall concession booth. I was loafing in one of those coin-operated shiatsu chairs at the mall, when Cedric called me over to look at a concession booth. Amid knitted and crocheted scarves, hats and accessories was a younger man with a rounded face and quiet demeanor. I learned he was from Tibet. I said, “Tibet — that’s a very Holy place.” He spoke of the Chinese invasion, and I affirmed, “Such a sad time in history.”

He smiled warmly and said, “It’s still a beautiful place; it’s a beautiful world. Yes, we like to be alone, but we are also social beings.

We must learn to live with others. If you have a peaceful heart, then you can live anywhere. You will be happy wherever you are.”

I knew I was in the presence of an enlightened person. He wasn’t just repeating things he had heard. Exiled from his beloved homeland, he did not become bitter but had instead emerged with light to offer others.

During the forum, partners were able to ask each other questions and brainstorm in a way that allowed intellects and spirits to connect to create new knowledge.

Creativity is the essence of the Empress and spring is her divine timing!

Pulling upwards, the forces of the Empress compel humans to acknowledge the abundant nature and beauty-filled intentions of her energy to inspire and implant within us her rich seeds, so that we can nurture and groom them until it’s time for harvest.

So, as one who is devout to the namesake and its creative process, I beg the question: This spring, what will you do with the loving energy of the Empress that surrounds you, lives in you, and invites you to dance? Will you harness her energy to create, recreate, build and rebuild yourself and your inner sanctuary? Or, will you become a wallflower?

Remember: Life is a platform where choice has voice! What we choose always speaks in one form or another!

The following are tips to rejuvenate the spirit and connect to the essence of the Empress:  Make a commitment to paying down debt, and make sure you’ve read and responded to all of your mail, including email.  Give away all clothing and all items in your home or personal space that you are no longer using.  Rearrange furniture in your home so that maximum space and sunlight are achieved.  Get your car washed and cleaned thoroughly.  Flip your mattress and mist it with an essential oil, such as lavender, diluted with water.  Place and keep a bowl of fresh spring or river water under your bed.  Journal your thoughts and dreams every day!  Keep your home filled with the aromas of good food and the sounds of melodious music.

 Keep a bouquet of fresh flowers near your front door.  Keep a bowl of fresh oranges in your bedroom.  Drink plenty of fresh water, eat fresh foods and get plenty of exercise!  Take ritual baths or showers with coconut soap or water to cleanse your aura of any negative thoughtforms that you could have unintentionally drawn to you.  Let go of relationships that have become emotionally burdensome and troubling.  Give apologies where they are warranted.  Forgive yourself for painful experiences you may have encountered.  Look in the mirror each day and say “I love you.” Write a love letter to yourself that sings of your gratitude and the joy of self-admiration.  Honor the Empress by feeding animals and children, and participate in charity work for humans.  Spend time with children and the elderly.  And lastly, create a space in your home that is dedicated to your ancestors and spirit guides.

Ask them to show their presence, and they will respond!

Spring & Renewal Emerging spiritually from slumber

by Suzanne Percoskie A slumber is an opportunity to rise from a sleeping state. In any moment we can shift our awareness and awaken to a new consciousness, even if we feel we are in a slumber. Wherever you are at this moment in your life, a window of transformation is opening.

Changes can be a clue that enlightenment is entering and a higher consciousness is emerging in your life. We all have heard that a flower must grow through the dirt. It’s true. The more we can accept the gift of transformation, then we can awaken into the blessings of spring.

There are daily practices that make this transition easier:

 Experience gratitude for this moment in the journey of your life. You are the sum of all your experiences. If just one aspect of your experience was different, then you would not be the person you are today.  Instill a belief that you have the ability to heal, rejuvenate and transform your life. This is powerful for whatever you think will expand.  Expect that you are emerging spiritually from a slumber and this is your higher power’s promise. This gift is your inherent birthright. It’s important to create and honor this sacred time. One can awaken by singing your song with the divine each day. Chanting mantras can be a golden spiritual practice that can assist in

becoming conscious of the divine orchestration. Remember that it’s a gift, a season of rejuvenation.

The human aura & springtime rebirth

Sunshine and warmer breezes call to last year’s sleeping bulbs to peek through the softening earth. Nature’s magnificent rebirth is evident all around us, and it calls also to something within us: it’s time to sweep and clean, de-clutter and detox, reassess and re-emerge.

Cleansing our environment and our bodies is certainly vital. Did you know the most important cleaning we can do, though, takes place in a dimension of our being that most of us don’t even see?

The human aura is a field of subtle, luminous radiation surrounding us and extending outward from our physical form.

Auras are related to the electromagnetic field of the body and serve as a visual measure of our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual states.

Everything that we do or think affects the aura, so it is usually in a state of flux, ever changing, based on our mental meanderings and physical health. The aura is also affected by the energies of the environment, the forcefields of the planet, and the radio frequencies that interpenetrate all forms of matter.

The aura is an electronic signature of who we are.

The colors of the aura may glow and radiate with joy and vitality as we maintain a state of blessedness in God. Or the colors may become dull, contracted and stultified when we are gloomy, when we allow ourselves to be depressed, when we complain or see life as less than beautiful.

Appreciation intensifies the aura as the heart emanates a pink and golden sun-like radiance. And at other times when we put ourselves down or enter into the deprecation of others, the size and radiance of our auras lessen. Holding images and concepts of ourselves and others as less than whole also impinges on our ability to send out auric fields of light energy that bless and uplift.

So it is always important to self-assess, to self-observe. What are we feeling? What energy or mood are we under? How are our feelings, thoughts, let alone our actions, affecting others? Are we joyous? Are we in harmony? Are we in balance?

Diet has an effect on the aura. But more importantly, what we take in through our eyes and ears and what we think affects the strength and coloration of the aura. When we put our attention upon God and all that this term represents for us, the spinning of our chakras accelerates and a resonance with the qualities of God begins to cleanse the aura and expand it.

The chakras are like generating stations within us. Similar to the mitochondria, those organelle power houses that reside within each human cell, these stations of light can be a great self-regenerating focus.

We can visualize our chakras daily. And as we focus on a specific chakra, we see its petals spinning and then accelerating in perfect symmetry and balance. We see the total radiance of these seven major generating stations expanding and blessing ourselves and all those who come within our sphere of influence.

The quality of our prayers is dependent upon the quality of our heart, our consciousness, and, therefore, our aura. If we desire to be of greater service and effectiveness, if we desire to perform alchemical feats for the good of mankind, we must first go within, self-assess and get in balance. We must attend to our chakras and bathe them daily in the light of God. In turn, their acceleration will create a rise and expansion in consciousness that is transformational.

The totality of who we are is broadcast to the world through the aura that radiates out from us, even though most individuals do not see this aurora borealis-like light show around themselves and others. Planting the Seed

by Shauna Aura Knight While it’s possible to start a project or spiritual practice at any time of year, the silence of winter followed by the warmth of spring creates a natural progression. I look at winter solstice and the new year as time to reflect on the past, and spring as a time to focus on my goals for the coming year.

Asking myself what I want to shift can be a challenging process, yet asking deeper questions leads to deepening our spiritual path.

What do you truly want out of your life? Are you living a life of meaning, or are you dissatisfied?

Are there goals you haven’t yet named?

While eventually you want to articulate goals with positive phrasing, it’s useful to first write down what you don’t want in your life. “I don’t want to be broke” becomes “I want more abundance in my life,” and that gets more specific: “I want a better job.”

It serves to be honest and look into the mirror of shadow; we often sabotage ourselves. If you can acknowledge your own bad habits, with compassion for yourself, then you can shift them. If I hadn’t given up on perfectionism, I’d never have published my books.

Getting Unstuck

If you’re unsure what you want in your life, or if you are overwhelmed by the different directions you could go, there are ways to get unstuck:  Tarot and Oracle Cards: Pulling cards can help you gain clarity and especially help you see how your own actions are contributing. Use this as an example of a three-card spread: The first card is “What am I not seeing?” The second card is “What’s the true nature of the problem?” The third card is, “What’s my ally in this?”  Dreamwork: Disturbing dreams often can be a sign of personal work upon which we need to focus. Dreams also offer inspiration and clarity.

While dreamwork practice takes years to develop, once you start writing them down you’ll sense patterns and unravel your own subconscious symbolism.  Meditation: Stillness meditation, walking a labyrinth, chanting, drumming, journeying or even engaging in creative activities like weaving, beading, painting and journaling can engage trancework and open you to deeper wisdom.  Talking it Out: Some folks prefer journaling, and others work better having someone with

whom to talk about things. A friend can perform this role, and sometimes a reader or coach is helpful.  Ritualizing your Intention: Rituals and ceremonies can bring you from nebulous goal to sustainable practice. Rhythmic practices like drumming, singing and dancing shift our state of consciousness to a place where our mind-bodyspirit are aligned. Involving our bodies deepens our spiritual work. Ritual can be as simple as lighting candles and singing “Om” while sounding a singing bowl. It’s also useful to choose an object to represent your goal, the seed of your dream.  Sustainability: You might also explore what will feed your work elementally: Air — Name my goal, because if I can’t name it, I can’t manifest it.

Water — Do I care enough to make this happen?

What are the consequences if I don’t? Fire — What’s your fuel, what energizes and inspires me?

Earth — What skills, tools and environment does this work need?

Writing down your specific goal will bring more focus to it. For instance, one of my intentions is bringing joy into my life. Then, creating a concrete representation helps make it real. If you’re cutting something out of your life, cut a string. Or use the metaphor of planting a seed by burying the token representing your goal in the earth. Or send it as a wish by burning a piece of paper. Physicalizing things works with the language of myth and the subconscious and takes the work past our conscious mind.

You can use (or create) devotional jewelry, a song or a chant, a collage, or anything else to focus your intention.

Whatever work you’re doing, envision your success. What does it feel like to achieve your goal? And what challenges must you overcome to get there? Can you hold the seed in your hand and imagine the tree grown strong?

that really earnest prayer, I met my mentor, Edith Stauffer, Ph.D., and instantly recognized in her a life teacher and a masterful person, a masterful soul. When I took her forgiveness workshop, I felt how clear and light I felt after I did my first forgiveness work, which was to forgive the Catholic Church, I felt like a million dollars after that. I had really dropped a load. Then I thought, “Oh, this is it! This is it! This is my healing tool. This is my pathway.” So, I asked Edith to train me in this work and then I worked beside her. Then she passed it to me and I took the lead in taking it out to the world. It became my work and now I’ve been training other forgiveness teachers around the world for the last 15 years.

Spring Cleaning to revitalize your Spirit

by Maggie Chula It is very refreshing to look out the windows and see the grass, flowers and trees coming back to life. Winter can be very brutal at times. This year has been especially difficult for people living on the East Coast near Boston, while here in the Midwest the winter of 2014 seemed to last forever, and we did have snow in May. At times I have had my doubts whether the little animals and birds would all make it. I have watched the winds blow so hard that our bird feeders were scattering seeds all over the snow. When the spring thaw finally came, we have seen layers of seed and debris surface within the melting snow.

This year as I watch for signs of spring and listen to the birds chirping so cheerfully, I am happy I live in a part of the world that has visible reminders of the seasons.

The signals of spring always make me feel like cleaning my home, my office and my closets. I enjoy changing my clothes from darker, thicker materials to the light and bright clothes of spring and summer.

Spring also is a time to clear and clean out my mind of all the clutter that I absorbed in the past several months. I consciously start a familiar process of reestablishing my personal and energetic boundaries with people, commitments, and my own goals. I know it helps me to refresh my thoughts and energy.

During any time of year, there are ways to support your energy and revitalize your spirit. Whether you draw energy from people or you are an introvert and gather energy by being alone, you can always increase your sense of well-being by centering your mind and thoughts.

Here is a quick way to help yourself increase your feeling of well-being: 1. Find a quiet place where you can have three minutes to yourself. Get comfortable and start to breathe in as deeply as you can.

2. Set your intention to open up the airways of your body.

3. While you breathe in imagine, visualize or feel yourself drawing in air or energy from the far corners of the universe.

4. As you breathe, allow yourself to feel the energy flowing to you as a radiant and sparkling light. Imagine your body tingling with the energy that is being drawn into your body along with the oxygen that is so very important for your body.

5. As you exhale, see your worries and cares being blown out of your body and rising up into the air away from you. Your thoughts are released into the air and transformed into a fluffy pink cloud of love.

6. Focus on breathing in the wonderful light of healing air, and exhaling and blowing out your worries, stress and fearful thoughts.

Do this for a few minutes and you will feel better. When you are ready to resume your day, remember whenever you begin to feel anxious, stressed or worried to take a deep breath and visualize breathing in light, sparkling air. Then exhale and blow out your stale thoughts. Blow them far away from your body and into a fluffy pink cloud of love.

Using the wonderful energy of breathing deeply and focusing on your breath, you will shift your mind away from your anxiety, tension or fear and calm your mind and body. You will feel more centered, grounded and at peace.
