Choose love for a safer world

by Lisa Venable In these challenging times, it might behoove us to remember Franklin Roosevelt’s words, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself,” and be conscious of how fear can lead us down the path to nowhere.

Right now it seems as if we fear each other.

Those in the blue category are literally “blue” with despair that so many fellow Americans voted the “wrong” way while the reds are gleefully spouting the victory of what is “right.” How can we ever re-unite and come together if we keep taking sides, polarizing ourselves to the point of oblivion?

Our polarization of viewpoints — black vs. white, right vs. wrong, good vs. bad, Republican vs. Democrat — has created a war within ourselves and with each other. The polarization of anything always creates a stalemate. In other words, our other side is bad. We aren’t solving problems from a place of unity, but from separation. We are no more at peace than the Israelis and Palestinians. We may not be killing one another physically, but might we be spiritually?

We have been narrowly trained to look at things in black and white, leaving little for the middle way. But the middle is where true union thrives as two opposites see that they can complement each other and find real answers to the challenges they face together. They soon find that they are part of a circle, or community — where there are no sides, only people helping and supporting one another because they recognize they live as one and what happens to another happens to them. They no longer discuss morals based on behavior, but instead learn to become spiritually whole by living in compassion and understanding. They make decisions together from conversations that allow for all possibilities and come to solutions in the spirit of cooperation, not competition. And as a result, together they create a new kind of democracy derived from something much more powerful than fear.

It’s called love.

Love is our deepest nature, but until we choose it consciously over fear, its power will not be known and we will all be the lesser for it.

That might sound weak and mushy to many, but love is the strongest and firmest form of energy alive in the world. It goes beyond religious dogma to the deeper teachings of spiritual truth and the more accurate nature of God. Love means to allow, to let what is, be what is, without judging it. Love is by far the greatest wealth that our human soul longs for…to be accepted and understood no matter what. While fear says, “I am right and you are wrong,” love says, “I allow all possibilities; let’s look for the middle way, together.”

Could this time in history be our greatest opportunity to raise our collective consciousness about what we are choosing and try a different energy, a new force that will create new solutions that last and provide us with a truly safer world? What if we bridged love with politics? If we use the principles of love — nonjudgment, understanding and compassion — might our lawmaking process reflect our deeper nature? Might we create a real American dream?

One that is based on the life, liberty and happiness of real people?

A dream that is based in fear will eventually collapse. As human beings, we consider vision to be the most vital of the five senses. The ability to see is so much a part of the human experience that to lose it would be a devastating blow to most of us. Indeed, when people are asked which of the five senses they would least be willing to forfeit, vision invariably ranks at the top of the list. Without hesitation, it is vision that dominates our perceptual experience.

Yet, as we begin to consciously live a spiritual life, a new form of seeing slowly emerges. It is a subtle sense, and is related to the soul as it begins to open its Eye of Vision.

The Eye of Vision is an aspect of the third eye. When it is opened (at least partially) an individual begins to perceive a deeper reality.

It is a type of seeing that goes beyond the perception of form. Instead, it provides a perspective into the energy, truth or pattern underlying form. The word “insight” is quite useful when trying to describe the nature of the soul’s method of seeing. The Eye of Vision conveys insight (sight that is inward) into the subtler realities of life. Unlike our normal vision, it sees the deeper nature of a thing, rather than just the thing itself.

All forms are best understood as the outpicturing of qualities or energies. Qualities such as love, intelligence and idealism represent just a few of the spiritual energies (qualities) that underlie form. From a certain perspective, these qualities represent the soul hidden within form, and it is the Eye of Vision that is able to sense their presence.

This is true whether we are talking about an object, a person, place or event. Each of these categories is an expression of form, and each has subtle qualities underlying them.

It should be mentioned that the perception conveyed by the Eye of Vision isn’t necessarily visual. While ordinary vision provides images of form, the vision of the soul provides an impression beyond form and is relatively formless. Most often it is experienced as an intuitional realization within the mind and heart. is recognized in the mind as a deep understanding or spiritual knowingness.

One of the most important roles of the Eye of Vision is that it acts as a directional beacon in life. When a person is truly trying to live according to the soul’s promptings, there emerges a feeling that life must be aimed differently. Often it is based on a growing recognition that the incentives advocated by society are no longer enticing. These incentives are frequently materialistic and primarily appeal to the personality. Yet, to be guided by the soul is to live life in ways that seem antithetical to what society encourages.

For example, the desire for wealth, personality satisfaction, power and prestige are key motivators that shape Western culture and attitudes about life. Yet, the pulling power of these incentives eventually wanes as the Eye of Vision begins to open. Living life in a different way becomes a compelling urge. A sense of responsibility for the welfare of the larger whole (rather than following personality enticements), becomes the loftier motive that drives a person’s life. In this process, the desires of the personality give way to the vision and higher purpose conveyed by the soul.

In this discussion, we have seen that the Eye of Vision adds depth to human perception, particularly for those who have awakened to their inner divinity (soul). It gives insight into the truth lying behind the scenes, metaphysically understood. The vision of the soul is what guides us to live a new and different kind of life. It also helps us to see world events in a new light and, therefore, with greater wisdom. Through its gaze humanity’s oneness can be seen, and a commitment to serve the larger whole ensues.

End of an Era

A Conversation with Lightsmith’s Michele Mayama and Chris LaFontaine Honoring their dedication to Spirit after decades of transformative service

This interview documents the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for Lightsmith, the partnership between channel and healer Michele Mayama and her co-facilitator and photographer-inresidence Chris LaFontaine, two mainstays in the spiritual community of the Twin Cities since the early 1990s.

For several decades, Lightsmith has produced gatherings in which Michele allowed spiritual guidance — messages from the archangels, Yeshua and other masters, and the Earth Mother herself — to come through her to support our personal and collective transformation. They listened to Spirit and made many travels abroad to facilitate shifts in the planet’s energetic grid. And above all, they supported those who resonated with the messages and encouraged them with laughter and love.

Lightsmith recently announced that its public events have come to an end.

In September, in a heartfelt website post entitled “Lightsmith’s Last Hurrah,” Chris wrote: “It is time. Or maybe the end of time. Our original need to exist has completed, our raison d’être fulfilled. We have assisted those of Spirit and Earth to accomplish what was agreed upon eons ago. We have stayed the course, we have moved as directed, we have done our work, we have given 100 percent to the plan. And so have you, which is why you understand what is coming to a close.”

It signaled more than the end of public channelings. It was the end of an era in which some of us witnessed the dedication of two souls to do all they could to support the energetic changes taking place on the planet — helping individuals make sense of the chaos in their personal lives in the midst of our collective merging with higher dimensional frequencies.

Chris and Michele plan to keep moving forward, as Chris continues to embrace his lifelong interest in photography and music, as Michele continues to offer personal healing and mentoring sessions with clients seeking a helping hand during these turbulent times, as the two of them together find new ways to express what Spirit is manifesting through all of us.

ever you call it. This current has had its own life, and my job, in particular, was to stay in touch with it and respond to it and set something up if it felt like, “Okay, this is next. We’ll set it up. We’ll do it,” without knowing where that was going to go. That current really dictated our lives in a lot of ways.

Throughout the process you have referred to this current or juice or the flow of energy in your lives.

How did you come to trust that this was the next step for you and for all of us collectively?

Michele: My experience is different than

For someone not acquainted with your work, how would you summarize what Lightsmith has done these past 20 to 25 years?

Michele Mayama: We formed Lightsmith,

itself, in 1994, when we were getting ready to do some big events at Lake Harriet (Spiritual Community). I had been channeling since 1983, so my work preceded the Lightsmith event or creation, but when Chris came along, he put some structure on it.

Chris LaFontaine: The idea behind Lightsmith was to bring some form to something that seemed to be in motion. I came out of a business background and was used to marketing or packaging things — and so Lightsmith was born. It did take me a few years to realize that Lightsmith was not selling something. We weren’t creating dogma or…

Michele: …a methodology.

Chris: A methodology. We finally came

to understand — which I think Michele always knew, it took me longer — that there was something in motion that we were respecting and responding to without understanding where it was taking us.

But we understood we had a part to play.

My part, I think, was to help bring some visibility and form to something that is otherwise pretty intangible.

Michele: There has always been a current

within the Lightsmith experience, or what-

Chris’s. I can only speak for me, but my life was set up for this work. I had a near-death experience at 6. I have had mystical experiences when I was a teenager. All of this stuff I can see in hindsight was all part of my life setting me up to be a vehicle for this living current, and I always trusted the presence of those who were guiding us through the channeling, the Earth Mother or whoever was coming through.

There was always this great sense of love. It has always been within love. My experience as a channel is I don’t remember what comes through me very well, but I remember the experience of the connections.

The feeling of it.

Michele: Yeah, the feeling of it: the love, the

assurance, the potency at times, the power that was there, the clarity, the most pristine frequencies that would be there — so I never had any doubts. There was always a sense of connection, like family almost, like that sense of being well cared for from that level and dimension.

Chris: I got connected with Michele because

I was interested in channeling and I read a number of different channeled pieces over the years, even before I knew Michele.

There is a difference in what comes through, who it comes through, what little twists and turns it can take, if it feels manipulative, if it feels off in some way.

Once I got connected with Michele, I just responded in a positive way. I did trust for many of the reasons Michele mentioned, based in love. It never felt like there was ever any “have to,” there was never any “ought to.” There was just perspective and a lot of support and good discussions for me over the years.

People start the year prone to misunderstandings and technical snafus with Mercury retrograde and active Mars in sensitive Pisces (joined by Venus on January 3) conjunct intuitive, confusing Neptune. The cure for oversensitivity and overwhelm is to dive into these traits and turn them around. Introspect, review, meditate and come to know our feelings, as well as feel one another with compassion. Let’s remember what makes us grateful and call in our magic.

2017 really begins as Mercury turns direct on January 8; we progress, if slowly. The Sun squares Uranus and Jupiter on January 10 and stirs creative discontent. We’re more ready and skillful to organize as Mercury re-enters Capricorn January 11-13. Watch for a frustrating phase that needs endurance and foresight after January 19, as Mars and Venus square Saturn.

Aries (Mar. 21-Apr. 19)…You may feel unusually tender and unambitious, with a lot stirring in the depths of your psyche. Still, you may need to practice your natural leadership, because others around you may be in even more of a puddle. New paths open up after January 19, and your energy returns after January 27.

New Year’s sacred light changed everything for us A Pleiadian Message

At the very moment you move into the energy of your New Year time frame, the entire frequency of your Earth plane was realigned to the energetic pulse that exists within your resident Universe. This pure frequency pulse interacted within the magnetic core of your planet, and that created a dynamic shift in the rotation of the Earth in the very moment of crossing into the New Year.

Through this “happening” of the re-alignment, there was a rebirth, a sacred forging with the God consciousness element flowing onto your planet. This flow of sacred light opened up a synergetic connection between your own multidimensional consciousness and the Universal Collective Consciousness that has always been in existence.

Understand that through this transformational “moment” everything changed within and around you. Your physical framework has been shifted to align to the multidimensional setting of your higher source self. Your DNA strands continue to be in the momentum of being repositioned to accommodate this frequency shift in consciousness. This means that you are no longer operating from a limited dimensional perspective, so you may be feeling a strong disorientation as you adjust energetically to the shifting of vast time frames within you. This is the time to meet each other from the pure center of heart, to acknowledge the unique individual gifts that each one of you can bring to your community. We cannot emphasize enough how essential it is for you to start by initially honoring your own unique divine gift that you are, that you bring to community. Through this receiving of Self in this way, you will be able to authentically and fully honor the gifts of another. This is an aspect of the exchange of community.

You are entering this new phase that brings a deeper awareness of consciousness of each other. This is the sacred time for each one to shine forth the individual light that you are in reality and to witness each other’s light. We experience your light and honor you for all that you carry within you. Now is the time to flow into this appreciation of yourself first and then extend this outward to others that you engage with on the path.

Profound impact This action of sacred reemergence on your planet creates a profound impact within those of you who have been awakened within your society, your communities. We hold the completed energetic imprint for the community of humanity. We hold a steady platform for each one of you.

This imprint can be likened to a mirror that supports you in aligning with this higher frequency setting pulse, which has been newly established on your planet.

These imprints will enable you to be able to adjust to aligning into your own telepathic expanded consciousness, which will support the series of energetic frequencies of these new community designs.

You are individually being called forth to move into your place within collective

groups so that you can first utilize, and then forge this sacred design imprint of community. This is the time of action in motion, and each one of you need to play a conscious role in forging a path of right action with each other. Your ego mind will want to move quickly, and to do it perfectly! Move slowly, building a deeply aligned energy through your heart with your community members. Be willing to continually let go and witness each other, while allowing a conscious acceptance of your humanness to be present. Be aware you are growing and aligning into your spiritual being, while still engaging in your human experience. You must open up to authentically receive your own humanness, and to honor your human experience. And at the same time receive others with their own “perfectly imperfect” human traits.

Open up An essential aspect of a healthy community is being willing to open up and fully embrace your human idiosyncrasies, to honor all the different shades and qualities of each other. You will learn to navigate your self towards self-acceptance, self-

compassion and grow into a maturity of understanding through love.

Part of your community dynamic involves receivership of all parts of your group, the sacred and the human. Do not strive for perfection within your community group, as perfection is an ego-based desire.

These new dimensional settings on your planet are designed to support your ongoing path of fulfillment. Choose to consciously open to each multidimensional moment within your community group. As you do this together, each moment will naturally redefine and expand the frequency of One Consciousness within your group.

What does this mean? If you as a community group choose to open into “the moment” that exists and simply be together, there is a sacred union of purity that can be birthed between you. In that “moment,” a vast reality can be revealed, creating a shift of perception between you, opening up a telepathic connection. A sacred communion will open simultaneously through each community member, creating a synergy of mutual understanding, clarity and truth that is unveiled, and anchored between you as a collective. By choosing to be in “the moment,” a strong avenue opens up, making it possible for your community to achieve a collective state of being.

There is no greater action to take at this juncture than this process for an ongoing development of communion within your Community.

We bring this new conceptual plan to you. It is simple, and is being placed before you now. This is a design to activate this principle of energetic trust within your community. A vital ingredient for this process is for each member to consciously choose to participate by stepping forward and accepting the unique place that they hold within the community.

ACTIVATING “THE MOMENT” WITHIN YOUR COMMUNITY: 1. Form a circle as a group. There can be a circle

within a circle if necessary.

2. Take a “conscious breath” (breathe in through the mouth and exhale from the mouth) and let go. As you let go into your collective circle, feel your circle energy grow. Do this until the energy of your circle feels complete, fuller somehow.

3. Move your hands into a prayer position: your palms come together touching, and rest at the sternum.

4. Bring your awareness to your hands, breathe and let go into your hands.

Feel a deeper link to your place in the circle.

5. Gently release your hands and bring your thumbs together, index fingers together and middle fingers together.

6. Bring your awareness to the full energy opening of your full hand position. Wrap your awareness into the energy opening up. Breathe into the space and let go. Feel a deeper link into your community circle energy.

7. Maintain your hand position. Now bring in the sound, ZAYTAH, for this aligns you into the multidimensional moment. Use the sound as many times as you feel.

8. Open your awareness into the community energy, breathe and let go. Keep allowing your awareness to deepen into your Community energy, letting go, just being.

9. To complete this process, bring all of your awareness into your hand position, breathe and let go. Feel the opening of a doorway, move through that space of light. Just Be.

Collective energy Choosing to align with your community in this way allows each member to bring their uniqueness forward within your collective energy. This synergy creates an energetic weaving of a light flow to be birthed and to naturally be developed between you, opening up the sacred communion expression within your group.

Utilizing this process regularly within your community realigns you back into your natural reset energy within your multidimensional heart center.

And individually you will begin to recognize each other from this Higher Realm standpoint.

Through this recognition, you can enable each other in your sacred unfolding of Self.

Simply by witnessing, you hold a supportive energetic platform through your heart center.

We play an anchoring energetic role within your individual community. We are predestined to hold a sacred energetic form around your community, like an energetic womb to enhance your development. These sacred forms hold a frequency light that is unique to each community. They are an aspect of your destiny design. We hold these designs steady until your community has matured energetically and is able to hold and contain these design frequencies fully between you.

Throughout the coming year on your Earth plane, there will be an enormous energetic transformation as your individual Communities evolve and anchor these uniquely designed frequencies of this transformation of consciousness. You will be actively realigning the sacred to your planet Earth.

Warm soup to sustain you in 2017 Food First

by Nutrition Julie The New Year is a great time to assess where you are at in your life and determine what seems to be working (or not).

It offers us an opportunity to expand, grow, stretch and move more into the life and person we desire to be. It is very tempting to hit January full steam towards all sorts of new goals and aspirations, but all too often we try to change too many things at once instead of honoring the personal journey we are on.

I believe in the power of making smaller changes one step at a time, which results in big changes over time. When looking at your overall health, it is good to consider a variety of factors related to nutrition, exercise, stress management, spiritual practice, relationships, job satisfaction and in general, where you are at and where you would like to be.

As a nutrition educator, I am

all about the food and believe that what you put into your mouth daily greatly affects all the other areas of your life.

I teach from the perspective of balance and believe that if we give our body the nutrients it needs, it will remain free of cravings, mood swings, hormonal issues, illness and disease that come from imbalance.

Earth and we are changing, too. In fact, we are participating in and crucial to the process. We are shifting from duality consciousness to wholeness.

We are at a point where each person must make a choice.” Talk to me a little bit about that choice and the role it has played throughout the years.

Michele: The way this has come through

us has always been about a choice — and this particular time is about getting sort of unwound from the places within us that were conditioned to believe a certain way, patterned to survive, constricted within, survival and fear, traumatized into obedience, so to speak. There is no choice in that. That’s the unconscious that has been replicated from the previous generations of unconsciousness.

is constantly in motion and where food choices abound?

It can be difficult! It seems that every time we turn around, there is a new diet trend or fad that everyone seems to be embracing. Instead of trying the latest fads, diets or counting calories or points, I encourage you to eat whole, real, plant-based foods to tap into your inner wisdom and intuition, and keep you well.

So, in order to make a free choice, a real choice, the first phase of this has always been to unwind and heal or release or clear the deeper levels of what has been suppressed to bring our souls back together.

There has been significant fragmentation in the process of trauma, and the key is to get more and more clear, to be more conscious, so we can make a conscious choice.

The conscious choice for me during these years was to honor, stay with, and to continue to do my own work. To be the vehicle for what was coming through meant that I have been in consistent individual process for all these years. Nobody will ever know the extent of what that challenge was for me personally. And, that’s okay.

We have been guided to embody more and more of our own light or Spirit, a

process that I have periodically called fusion. It is like living light, created in consciousness — a living field that is the fifth dimension. It is a new dimension.

It’s not the third dimension where we are physical and human. It’s not the fourth dimension where it is Heaven. Heaven and Earth have been split. There is something we call “the other side,” which in some ways continues to keep us here less conscious.

My experience is that the more we bring our own great Spirit into our light, into matter, it’s a healing experience — and the more conscious we become and we stay conscious. And not only do we stay conscious, we have access within this new dimension to everything that we need in the moment.

The key is relaxing into this experience.

We cannot relax if we have the grips of old story survival and fear. This has been our work.

Chris: I think there is another piece to choice. The choice was always to choose love. That’s been the message from the beginning. But what that actually means in one’s experience is often a much different situation. Sometimes the choice is made unconsciously or at a soul level, but it is still a choice. You may say, “Oh, I’m going to participate in this great transformation I’ve been hearing about,” and when you choose to do that, you don’t always know what is coming and what that means.

You don’t know what you signed up for.

Chris: Yes, and what you usually find out you

signed up for in making your choice is that it’s all about you and it’s all about the work you need to do to disengage yourself from a structure that does not support the love and life and light that you are choosing to move toward. It has been a lot of work.

I’d like to add something about the work Michele says people will never know about.

In the past when introducing her to groups and such, on more than one occasion I said that my experience of Michele is that she is the same person in a public way and in a private way. She does not have a public persona that is different from her private self. She is an authentic person.

What you haven’t seen is that she is usually the first to move through what other people are about to move through, and so she is equally challenged on a personal, human level in the same way all of us have been, and then that modeling has been available in consciousness for people to pick up on and do that level of work.

That’s part of how this works, and it’s why Lightsmith attracted groups of people.

The interesting thing to me early on was to sit and think, “Well, okay, do we market ourselves? What exactly are we doing?

Packaging events?” And then the next thing I discovered is that we moved on to something completely different or evolutionary in the process.

It took me a while to understand that it never was about trying to attract numbers of people. Each thing that we did along the way attracted a certain body of people, and that changed regularly. There are people who did something with us once. We literally have a handful of people who have been with us from the beginning to present day — but most people have come and gone.

It was always the circumstance that drew what was needed for the specific event, and then it dissipated. And yet, there has been a core group of people, less than 30, who have continued to be willing to participate and been drawn to participate and do some of these things that we have done when the group energy was needed. We have never known what an event was going to be ahead of time, or what was next after it.

Michele: As Chris has been saying, there have been various phases in what we have done. There was one phase where we did trips, and that took over for a year and a half. There was a phase in which I did intensive training for a small group, and I did a lot of writing in the midst of that.

Then Lightsmith moved into this building — and immediately a series of beings started to show up every month to drop things into consciousness and do a process.

That transformed into several beings telling us, “Okay, we’re going to take you through the core transformation here.” That took three years or whatever it was. Then the  see LIGHTSMITH on p. 16

Earth Mother came through and offered her piece so our bodies would be supported in this process.

Last February, Yeshua, who started the whole thing here, almost exactly 10 years ago, — February 2006 to February 2016 — came and said, “This is the last time the Spirit beings are going to be here now.

We have accomplished what we set out to accomplish through working through you into consciousness.”

The Earth Mother continued showing up, but she has just come through about three times this year. And so, it’s done.

Whatever we signed on to do, we did it. It seems to be time to let go of the role that I have had in this for a long time, since I was, 29 years old. I’ve been committed to this more than half of my life.

So I have unwound from this role that I have played. I tell Chris and others that I feel more different, more changed, in terms of my experience of myself just in this one year than I have for a lot of years. Partly, that is because this big current that has been flowing through me has been letting go. It’s like, “Wow! How do I feel when that’s not there?” And, I get to be part of the new dimension, too! I get to be just like everybody else.

You can now relax from this process.

Michele: Exactly! Yes! Big YES! And, I am

excited about having a personal life. We have had very little personal life experience here.

It’s been pretty all encompassing. So, I am kind of excited as we look toward selling the building and deciding that we can actually choose things for ourselves now that are not based on, “Okay, what’s next? Get ready! Prepare.”

For those who have not gone through the Lightsmith experience or haven’t done a lot of transformational work, what do you recommend for them at this time, in terms of how to approach each day going forward?

Michele: To stay really, really present with

every experience that you have, and honor it, no matter what it is, because within that experience is the sort of opening or the access to all that is unfolding and evolving within you. Nobody outside of you can fully know what that is. They can, perhaps, at times assist or facilitate a release of something that has been caught or stuck for a while, but it’s still about just allowing.

If you’re angry, be with that. If there’s fear, be with that, and keep bringing awareness, love, presence, and include everything that is in your own experience that feels like it’s engaging you.

on in the world outside of me — Trump, etc. — doesn’t engage me, so I don’t include that because I’m not triggered by it. It doesn’t affect me, but my decisions that I am learning to make about what do is the best focus and use of my energy. Is it to do this or to do that? And, when I’m aligned in the flow of life and my own awareness, then those choices form the flow that I was talking about earlier.

When I go back to, “Well, maybe I should do this because of that,” you know, the old story, then the flow gets a little disrupted — and I know it, and I realize, “Oh, okay. I’m learning.”

What I tell all of my clients is this: Rather than being hard on yourself for getting out of the flow, getting out of balance, know that we’re all learning, and it’s a constant thing right now. It’s not books, and it’s not teachers who are going to teach you how to be in this new dimension. Your collaborative experience with the field itself in your own life, in your own experience, is your greatest teacher at the moment in this time.

It’s not to say that you can’t ask for help.

We choose help and facilitation as needed, honoring the skills of others, if it feels right.

If it feels like, “Yes! I need that now.”

Be grateful to these skilled people who help us, especially with some of the physical challenges. Our whole bodies are shifting. The structures in our bodies are shifting. I started 2016 with my back going out. Completely. I couldn’t move.

Throughout the rest of this year I’ve done a lot of waltzing, some chiropractic, working my way through. All areas of the physical structure have to be realigned in order to be part of the new operating system that is functioning in your body. If you’re going to embody light and embody a new organization of how to be here within you, it’s going to affect your bones, and it’s going to affect your body.

We started our conversation about each person having to make a choice, and it seems like that’s where we are leaving it. On one level, people may say it sounds selfish, but it all comes down to the individual self and what we choose and where we choose to go, right?

Michele: It’s the individual self in collab-

oration with this living intelligence and consciousness that is synchronizing all of us. We don’t have to be afraid anymore that we won’t be supported, that we won’t have what we need. The field is collaborating with us.

Even in the midst of this, the old story is fighting to take more out of life. Our water protectors are saying, “Life will supply what we need if we align with life.” You know?

And then the others are saying, “No, we have to take it from life and we have to own it!” No, the field — and life — really are strong enough and present enough to collaboratively create everything we need.

And, here we are.

Chris: And I don’t see it as selfish. To align with life, that includes your own alignment.

I think what we’re really talking about is coming into alignment with self — and when you are in that place, then you can come into alignment with All That Is. It’s all about trusting in this whole process.

Michele: Trust. We trust until we fully start

to realize how real it is. So, we trust our way in. Yeah.

Chris: We trust our way in.

Do you have any final thoughts that we haven’t talked about that you’d like to share?

Michele: It’s been a long journey for me,

having this current take over my life. I really don’t know what’s going to happen or unfold or what I’ll be drawn to do next. I hope it’s something different. But, I’m grateful for all that I’ve evolved and learned and the experiences that I’ve had and grateful to the people — really, really grateful to all the people who have said, “Yes, we’ll trust you, and trust the beings that are coming through you,” and showed up in one place or version or time or another or stuck around for a while, who have done their own personal work.

I have a deep honoring and gratitude for every person and for every part of this journey. And I have a great desire for everyone to have fulfillment in their own lives, at the levels that their soul would bring to them or create for them, and all that the field can offer to them. I want that for everyone, because there’s a certain shared joy or shared celebration. It’s like, “We did it!” We can share that. We know what we’ve done, sort of. Whereas, there are lots of people who are not going to know anything about what we’ve done.

Chris: To have been on this adventure with Michele has really been an amazing and challenging; adventure is the wrong word — it has been a life experience. I’ve been called into alignment on several occasions more strongly than others, but to be with someone who has an ability to stay so focused on what’s real and true and in alignment that my choice becomes this: either I move into alignment or I leave.

That’s really an honor to be in that kind of an adventure with somebody. Why I meditate: building a supply of stillness, unity

by Gail Cantor As human beings, we live here in the very practical world of duality.

There is what is good and what is bad, what is right and what is wrong, projects that are finished or still in progress, etc. There is a great amount of activity. There are many demands.

It is easy to become competitive and comparative with others.

But we are not only human beings; we are spiritual beings, as well. Each of us has a connection to spirit and spiritual values and truths that we embody and express in our human activities and endeavors.

This connection is the source of inspiration, creativity, innovation, care and compassion. Strengthening this connection strengthens our bond with this source.

Why do I meditate? I meditate to build a storehouse of stillness and unity to draw upon as I engage my human life. I stop my normal activities and I sit quietly. I let the thoughts and emotions that arise go. I let them float away. I give up and let go of any judgments that I have about those thoughts and emotions.

When I am able to do this fully, I am transported to a space of silence that fills me with stillness. I am present to the unity that is available in pure spirit. Duality drops away.

There is at-one-ment. There is atonement; I can forgive the ways that I fall short as a human being.

When I meditate, this benefit is available to me at that time. But even more important than the immediate connection with spirit is that it seems to build a reserve of stillness and unity to draw upon when confronted with the inevitable challenges in life.

So, I meditate to build this reserve and to continually strive to have my human endeavors be a reflection and expression of the highest good. a Gail E. by Janet Michele Red Feather In the movie Eat, Pray, Love, journalist Elizabeth Gilbert (played by Julia Roberts) visits an ashram in India. Sitting cross-legged on the floor of a mosquito-plagued room, the would-be seeker finds her head abuzz with distracting thoughts. After what seems an eternity, a tiny digital clock’s numerals flip, indicating that only 2 minutes have actually passed. She wryly exclaims, “Oh my God, kill me now!”

I used to see meditation that way. I felt like a dabbler, caught in a boring pastime whose purpose eluded me. Today, I view meditation as a pleasant sanctuary and a staple of spiritual survival.

Through daily meditation, we can connect with our guides, communicate with the Great Spirit, and attain realizations:  Connect with the Guides — Spirit helpers, guides and angelic messengers are right above our shoulders, ready to help with our requests. We can state our requests through prayer, or simply talk with them. In a meditative state, the ego is forced to stand aside temporarily, long enough to allow the guides to permeate our thoughts and answer us directly.  Communicate with the Great Spirit — By whatever name we call the Creative Intelligence that Drives the Universe — God, the Great Spirit, Great Holiness — we can talk to that Energy directly. People have written about Native ceremonies like the Sweatlodge or the Sundance, referring to the Medicine Man as an “intercessor,” without whose “intervention” we could not contact the spirits or receive visions. Both Cedric Red Feather and I, through our own individual experiences, have come to know that we do not need an intermediary to pray to God. Cedric calls this aspect of his spiritual teachings, “Eliminate the Middle Man.”  Attain realizations — Sometimes in meditation I remain lucid while in an ultrarelaxed state. Deep breathing helps get me there. I take three long, deep breaths, in which the in-breath and out-breath are of equal length. I sit in a comfortable chair and concentrate on an issue or question. Soon thereafter, I experience a kind of clairsentience. Resolution emerges in the form of clarity about what was perceived earlier as a problem. When you ask with a sincere heart and give the guides permission to help in advance, the compassionate ones will oblige with an answer.

Meditating regularly has other benefits.

From the practice of inhaling and exhaling

deeply to signal the start of meditation, I gain more conscious awareness of the breath.

This carries over to my becoming conscious of the breath while sitting, walking or falling asleep. When my breathing changes, an auto-alert lets me know an adjustment is needed to allow continuation of the flow of oxygen and energy.

Another benefit is that the grandfathers, guides, spirit helpers and angels now seem closer to me in waking existence. I feel so much more open to listening and watching for signs and symbols. I’ve learned to pay attention to all that surrounds me. Messages appear amid the letters and numbers of license plates. Wind garners my attention by shifting its voice suddenly. Ravens and crows caw incessantly, compelling my attention.

Meditation renders the ordinary extraordinary. People in stores blurt remarks that seem to reveal hidden truths. Cedric has his own practice involving fortune cookies.

He then asks a specific question, pauses deliberatively, and opens the cookie — only to smile and read aloud some message that seems uniquely crafted to his concern. So it is that, through an expanded awareness of everyday signs, we enhance our connection with Spirit to a degree my dad would proudly decry, “From your mouth to God’s ear.”

Meditation opens chakras and channels. An alignment and rebalancing occurs effortlessly during deep meditation. This is because, from a state in which ego is derailed and distracted, we are able to align with the higher energies of love and light. A higher vibrational frequency attends the spinning wheels of our human energy centers.

Already, some schools are introducing elementary students to gentle meditation practice. Someday, perhaps, the practice will find favor with all layers of society; and at that time, we may experience facilitation of the public’s journey toward highest enlightenment. a Janet Michele Red Feather, J.D., M.A., is a ceremonial singer who has learned over 60 traditional songs in Mandan and Lakota and sings in nine different languages. Gifts of focus, inner strength, a quiet mind

by Theresa Nutt I stumbled into meditation more than 20 years ago, in the most unexpected way. I was working the night shift in a hospital while going to nursing school. I worked on a heart care unit where patients wore telemetry devices to monitor their hearts. My friend was working at the telemetry station, monitoring heart waves, and she decided to spice up the long night. She dared me to see if I could drop my heart rate by focusing on my breathing.

Being 20 and cocky, I figured: absolutely! So, she hooked me up to a telemetry device, and I proceeded to drop my heart rate from 80s to 50s in about a minute.

I had no idea what deep breathing or meditation was at that point, but I would go on to become a student of meditation three years later. It might be a bit like the discovery of Penicillin — a happy accident with unexpected outcomes!

I first learned to meditate in my early twenties when I became obsessed with all things related to energy healing.

First, I trained in breath techniques, then Reiki, and other stress-management techniques, including self-hypnosis.

Meditation was taught in every single training in different ways, so I was exposed to several different forms.

As is true with many students

of meditation, my early attempts were trying. Sitting for extended periods of time was challenging.

My mind had a lot to say, and I had no interest in being still long enough to listen to that incessant chatter! I couldn’t really understand why people would meditate at all. It felt like a form of torture to me.

Yet, I persisted and continued to practice. Guided meditations were an easy way to start, because it gave my mind something to do while I learned how to be with the constant activity of my mind. In time, with further training in advanced levels of energy healing, I learned Transcendental Meditation (TM).

This is the practice I still engage in to this day.

A funny thing began to happen the longer I practiced.

My mind became quieter during my regular day. My constant anxiety wasn’t blaring loudly all the time. And I figured out that my ability to focus throughout my day was improved.

I mostly noticed that when I didn’t meditate, my mind was noisier and my ability to focus faltered.

In time, with continued practice, I went through a phase of deepening self-awareness.

I learned how to be more comfortable in the stillness and sit with all of my thoughts without needing to change them.

started happening in my life at work. I remember that, suddenly, I felt like I was in an alternate reality than other people in my work environment. Other nurses would be stressed to the max, and I would have a certain sense of calm despite really trying circumstances.

I could focus when I needed to, even when the situation was highly overwhelming.

As time passed and my meditation practice continued, I felt deeper and deeper layers unfolding for me. Some of the other benefits of meditation for me have been more subtle and profound.

I have uncovered deep layers of selfacceptance. I have learned how to be more patient with myself, and in turn, with others. I have felt a profound sense of peace and calm wash over me.

My connection with the Universe has grown by leaps and bounds. My inner critic has become quieter and more manageable. I feel more open-hearted and open-minded. My life has more meaning and purpose. I feel more connected and compassionate with others in my personal life and community. I have weathered some really rocky storms of my life with far greater ease than I could have without the gift of meditation.

I am so grateful for the gift of meditation, no matter how unexpectedly it entered my life. Without it, I would not have the joy of knowing a quiet mind, a sense of inner strength, the ability to focus, and ever-emerging personal clarity. a

Meditation practice can offer the practitioner a method to transcend one’s consciousness.

As we transcend our consciousness, we will be able to experience a peace that is not of this world, a joy not of this world, a contentment not of this world.

The experience of what meditation means to each one of us is so various, and so difficult to describe adequately, I am hesitant to say too much about my own experiences. I will share this. When I practice Chinese Esoteric Buddhist meditation, I fill with light, and throughout the rest of the day, live in that light. I wish for you that light — your own light — and your own peace. I wish for you your own awakening, your own Buddha nature emerging. I wish for you that light throughout your day. I wish for each of us, that peace.

There are many kinds of meditation, both within Buddhism and outside of Buddhism.

There is enough variety so that those inclined to meditate can surely find a form that works for them. If you do not yet have a meditation practice, I encourage you to develop one.

Seek out a teacher, seek out a form. Seek until you find one that resonates with your spirit.

Then practice it. If you do already meditate, I encourage you to continue onwards.

The Chinese Esoteric Buddhist school has meditation practices that were developed by enlightened masters more than 1,300 years ago and have been passed down unchanged throughout this time. Why meditation is so important to me

by Dr. Glen Hepker The significance of meditation within the Tao-Chan/Ming Chia (in translation: Bright Beautiful School of Thought) philosophy that I teach, coach and endeavor to follow is difficult to gauge. This “true meditation” is a composite of practices that cannot be completely exclusive of one another. They are meant to promote a healthful harmony between one’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions.

To enjoy a deeper perspective into this notion, it is important to contrast this harmony with a “harmony between Heaven and Earth,” both in analogy, and to some degree, literally.

We can learn to be more and more healthful conduits between Heaven and Earth.

Accordingly, if there is a Heaven, a “key to the universe,” even a sixth sense, they are rooted in true honesty, promoting of true happiness and true freedom — but most importantly, needing less and less to hide behind. It is so much about doing the right thing for the right selfless sake.

It is so much about realization that we are all so much more in the same common boat than we often think and act. It is so much about dignity, decency, goodness and grace. It is so much about true forgiveness.

Most importantly, true meditation must be devoid or mostly devoid of preset patterns of

thinking — without expectation, rumination, cyclical thinking, and most particularly, without the pernicious weight of hate, greed and ignorance. It is about working to better learn how to empty the mind of thought, and at times, learning to use healthful fashions of guided imagery, which assist one in focusing on just one or two things versus many things.

Meditation is the embodiment of a truly healthful sense of lightness in being. It is about playing the part of a less-blemished witness — in most simple terms, it is a tool with which one can witness one’s internal and external environments through an untarnished or almost untarnished lens. It is a tool that diminishes desire and craving of the need for something to hide behind.

Such true honesty is not inclusive of unhealthful self-deception. Why I meditate The eternal dance of awareness

by Debra Roinestad Here comes the negative mind chatter, as if a menacing, dark cloudburst is pouring heavy rain over my head. “You’re ugly, lazy, overweight.” These comments were from shady people that I once knew. Unfortunately, the dark words continue to live on, causing distress.

I want to take my power back, find nurturing, and experience the healing that I truly deserve.

Meditation was the key to confront my negative thought patterns and keep me in the present. Initially, the more that I sat in stillness, the more that “stuck” sadness slowly released.

Once a day for a few minutes, with my eyes closed, I allowed my mind to wander. If outside noises bothered me, I would incorporate those, too.

After a while, I began experimenting with different forms of meditation. Listening to Reiki and chakra balancing music, and sound waves, helped me achieve mindfulness.

Practicing meditation has allowed me to stay balanced in the center of chaos. Meditation has helped me discover what truly is going on within myself. I have detached from the negative mind chatter and shifted toward more positive aspects of my life. For every thing that was negative I have replaced with a positive. by Georgi Bond It’s time to stop “doing” meditation.

Many of us believe what our mind tells us, so we believe that meditation is a practice — something we should “do.” We chant mantras, use mudras, try visualization or breathing techniques, to help us “get there.”

We believe it’s about reaching states of “higher” consciousness and raising our vibrations. Or it’s about stopping thoughts and silencing the mind.

We see meditation as a way to change and transform — to end our suffering, to become more spiritually evolved, and ultimately, to achieve the promise of that coveted enlightenment prize.

Many of us have diligently practiced meditation for a lifetime, carefully honing our technique over the years, but we can never maintain those bliss states, and that sense of lack and unfulfillment continues to gnaw away at us in the background.

This is because true meditation is not about “doing.” It’s about “being.”

True meditation has nothing to do with “getting rid” of unwanted thoughts or emotions. It has nothing to do with “trying to become” something other than what we are. It has nothing to do with “achieving” altered states, higher vibrations or increased love and bliss. It has nothing to do with “becoming” more whole, healed or abundant. It has nothing to do with “controlling” our minds and our reality.

It’s about meeting and accepting each present moment as it arises, with a complete non-resistance to its truth, and a radical embrace and surrender to what is.

Trying to “do” anything in meditation — to fight, change or control whatever arises — is a form of deep resistance, and a form of self-rejection, which keeps us trapped in separation and seeking. If we judge and reject unwanted or “negative” thoughts and emotions, we are simply rejecting those parts

of ourselves. And if we cling to desired states of bliss, expansiveness or peace, we are again rejecting the parts of ourselves that are not in alignment with these states.

We will only experience the unconditional love and wholeness that we seek by abandoning all efforts to seek, practice or do, and by fully embracing every aspect of ourselves and life, as it arises in each moment. Only then do we recognize that we already are the unconditional love and wholeness that we seek, that we are the alive awareness that creates and witnesses all of life — the eternal choreographer and dance of creation, which continuously unfolds now, moment by moment. All thoughts, feelings, emotions and desires arise and fall in the dance of awareness that we are.

Any act of “doing” takes us further away from true meditation and the recognition of what we are.

When we stop “doing” meditation, we suddenly find ourselves free to “be” a space for meditation, at any time, anywhere, whatever we are doing, and however we are feeling. We can simply allow all thoughts and emotions as they arise and fall within the space that we are, knowing that we are not those thoughts and emotions, because they rise and fall — and yet we remain, as the eternal dance of awareness in which they take form.

As we fully embody this truth, we realize that there is no separate self who “practices” meditation, but rather, we are the alive awareness — the beingness —- in which everything arises to dance the choreography of life, including the practice of meditation itself. a Georgi Bond’s story is one of diversity, leading to simplicity.
