CEREMONIES IN THE TOWN OF EDEN In solidarity with all Towns in Erie County, the Town of Eden churches along with both fire halls will ring their bells in remembrance of our fallen heroes at

10 am and 11 am on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2022. Newell Faulkner American Legion Post 880 Honor Guard will follow the ringing of the bells with a 21-gun salute and taps at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Eden.

At 11 am there will be a procession from the Eden Town Hall to Eden Evergreen Cemetery at the Field of Honor. Town officials and the residents are encouraged to join us in the ceremony honoring those who gave their lives for our freedon. In case of inclement weather, 11 am ceremony will be held in the American Legion Banquet Hall

Charles B. Yale, "Chuck" died May 3, 2022, peacefully at home after several years of challenging health issues. Born in 1942 in Niagara Falls, New York, he spent most of his school years in Ashtabula, Ohio. However, prior to his senior year, his family moved back to New York, where Chuck graduated from Lewiston High School. He returned to Ohio and attended Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio, graduating in 1964. He also obtained his Master's Degree from the University of Buffalo, which started his journey as a high school German teacher, coach, official, announcer and later coordinator of high school sports for over fifty years. Although, Chuck coached swimming for eight years, his real loves were cross country and track. Even during the summer of 2021, Chuck was out on the track at Eden High School in his Zinger or wheelchair with 31 "florescent green" track stars between the ages of four and fourteen! Some of Chuck's athletic and community highlights included: Section 6 XC Girls Chairman 1978 - 2001 (24 yrs); ECIC Track Chairman 17 yrs; Empire State Games Announcer 1978 until it ended; State Track and Field Announcer 1982 - 2019; Established the Eden Valley Summer Track Club; Ran the Eden AFS Concession Stand at the Bill's Stadium for 12 yrs; Inducted into the Eden Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014 (coach/athletic coordinator); Coached and announced T&F/XC in Arizona 2003-2019 Returning to Lewiston in summers, Chuck worked as

a guide at Old Fort Niagara., where in 1966, he met Sue Schnake and her fifth grade students who were on a field trip. Through a mutual friend, they reconnected and were married July 1, 1967. During their almost fiftyfive year marriage, Chuck and Sue taught, traveled overseas with students, as well as traveling themselves to over 70 countries. Yet, some of Chuck's proudest moments have been watching his daughter, Barbara and son, Brian grow, mature and succeed in their careers and life pathways Chuck was proceeded in death by his parents, Nathan and Jean Yale and his younger brother, Scott Yale. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Sue) Yale of Eden, NY and Fountain Hills, AZ; sister-in-law, Barbara Yale of Minnesota; daughter, Barbara Yale of Tajikistan and son, Brian (Shannon) Yale, of Iowa City, Iowa; their children Makenzie Yale Weldon (J.T.), Kendall Yale, Braden Yale and his great granddaughter, Olivia Weldon of Yorktown, TX. Saturday, May 21, 2022 was Clean up day at the Chamber Park Town Corner. This annual event is launched by Eden Garden Study Club (EGSC) along with spruce up activities at the Blue Star Memorial, located at the American Legion post 880. Raking and trimming, picking up sticks and planting summer flowers helps to prepare the town for its summer season. In February, EGSC planted hanging baskets which will soon hang on Main Street utility poles, and large planters which will be placed on Main Street corners. ___________
