This educational zine showcases research and creative works by 12 students in Asian American Communities, Fall 2023, at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS).
Offering love letters to Asian American communities, the students produced their own pages highlighting such issues as cultural heritage, immigration, healthcare access, intersectionality, labor, pop culture, and family/kinship.
In addition, they teamed up to produce the entire zine together by leading various tasks -- providing designs and illustrations; conducting editorial reviews; writing foreword and afterword; coordinating the appendix; and planning logistics and outreach.
The title, "Tesserae," refers to pieces of a mosaic. With multiple tesserae of voices, perspectives, and creative inspirations, these zine pages constitute a mosaic that illuminates the resilience and power of Asian American Communities.
