Gel Printing Plates

Step One: Remove clear film and apply acrylic paint to Gel Printing Plate. Roll paint evenly with brayer. Step Two: Create designs by pressing textured objects into wet paint using soft tools or stencils. Step Three: Lay onto painted surface. Gently rub paper with hands or clean, dry roller to transfer paint. Step Four: Pull paper from printing plate to reveal the print!

Extension: Place objects such as honeycomb, string or leaves onto the plate to make marks, or leave them there to create a stencil. Use cotton fi lters, patterned rollers and stampers, laser cut stencil paper, and catalyst silicone blades to create amazing patterns. Derivan Block Ink Medium

Derivan Block Ink Medium and Extender is a versatile medium which can be used in two ways to create fantastic relief prints. A) As an extender - add to derivan Block Ink colours to extend and make your colours more transparent without losing the body of the paint as it would happen when adding water. B) As a medium - add Matisse Structure Acrylic paint colours to Block Ink Medium and Extender to create block ink from the paint. When using as an extender add from 1:9 to 9:1 ratio of Block Ink Medium & Extender to Derivan Block Ink colour. Up to about 3:7 ratio the colour will be extended, after this the colour will start to become more transparent. Tackiness may also increase. Derivan Drying Retarder

Drying Retarder will slow the evaporation of water from the paint. Add a small amount (approx 5% retarder) to your paint. This will help to keep the your paper from sticking to the plate when printing and enable you to work with your masterpiece for an extended time.
