DONAGHADEE MAN HONOURED AT HILLSBOROUGH CEREMONY
Donagadee man Steven Bain has been honoured at a formal ceremony at Hillsborough Castle for his longstanding contribution to the Army Cadet Force.

Instructor Steven Bain who has long been a popular and well-known leader at Donaghadee and, more recently, Gransha Detachment Army Cadet Force, was awarded the Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate for Outstanding Meritorious Service
Above and Beyond
The Call of Duty, one of the highest accolades that can be conferred on members of the Reserve Forces and Cadet movement.
The Citation which accompanies his award recognises nineteen years of exemplary service as a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer during which SSI Bain has attended every one of his Battalion’s Annual Training Camps and the vast majority of
its Training Weekends
too.
The Citation highlights a career of ‘dedicated leadership’ and concludes, ‘SSI Bain excels in developing team momentum, enthusiasm and pride and, in addition to leading his own Detachment, he is often to be found supplementing the training activity of other Detachments.
During his time as an Adult Volunteer he has been especially active at Battalion level working in our Senior Cadet ‘Barrosa’ Company as a dynamic and inspiring Platoon Commander as well as assisting with Adventure Training expeditions and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme activities’.
