It sure helped him when when he ran for Philadelphia’s City Council at-Large. There’s losing and losing, and losing and winning!

The pedestrian deaths on a Philadelphia speedway, otherwise known as Roosevelt Boulevard, are getting out of hand. Al is trying to something about it by having speed camers installed. A bill has to be passed in the state legislature.

How can alocal mom and pop meat company come up with a hotdog thatcould compete with the big guys?

Come up with a hot dog called Phillies Franks, and recruit players to take a few minutes to do a fun TV spot. Players from visiting teams often participated. “These hot dogs are so good they shouldn’t be called Phillies Franks. They should be called Astro Franks.” Tim McCarver said it was his best catch. It’s almost like pollitics. In politics it’s a one day sale. There’s no tomorrow. In retail, there is a tomorrow. ( I try not to strike out.

I thought it would be a grabber if a conservative Republican praised a Kennedy. When I showed the script to Reagan, he loved it. But he said, “Instead of saying, ‘If I get elected,’ how about if I say, ‘When I get elected?’” I was about to tell him why I wrote that when he said, “I get it. You want me to play it for the humor.” I said, “Exactly.”

I’m also partial to a defense spot where I had Reagan say, “Our foreign policy has been based on the fear of not being liked. Well, it’s nice to be liked, but it’s more important to be respected.

Again, simple commercials that make a point.

People’s lives are complicated enough. I like to keep things simple.

But the CSX railroad wanted the crossings closed.
