Why Women Should Speak in Church

WHY WOMEN SHOULD SPEAK IN CHURCH

WHAT IS A TESTIMONY •

A basic definition of a testimony is to declare or acknowledge under oath.

When we stand on the altar of God and testify we are showing a personal experience with God. It is a declaration of what God has done for us that will encourage others to continue in the faith, (Ps 145:10-12). In fact, it is just as important for the testifier to speak, as it is for those to bear witness to it, (1Timothy 6:12; 1 Timothy 4:16).

WHAT IS A TESTIMONY •

Since a testimony is so important to our salvation, the Lord has given specific instructions to what must be included in it, (1 Corinthians 14:26; Colossians 3:16). Each component is different but are integral parts that work together forming a perfect offering to God and to the church.

KEY TERMS •

Doctrine: A simple basic principal that is fundamental to our belief for edification of the church.

Revelation: This is anything that was hidden or unknown and suddenly revealed for the edification of the church.

•

Interpretation: The explanation of doctrine, scripture, or revelation for the edification of the church.

•

Song/Psalm: This is our sincere praise of God for the edification of the church.

•

Should women testify in the church? A testimony is our offering unto God; therefore all of God’s children including men, women and children must bring their offering unto the Lord. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, Eve lost her equality with Adam. When God created Eve by taking a rib from Adam’s side she became woman and they were made one flesh, (Genesis 2:23-24).

During the days of Israel, women had great influence and leadership, such as Miriam who helped lead the children of Israel with Moses and Aaron out of Egypt, (Micah 6:4). And Deborah , a judge and prophetess who rode into battle with Barak helped Israel to win, (Judges 4:1-9).

During the days of Paul, who went to the Gentiles to bring them the gospel, the women did not speak while the churches were being established. In Paul’s writings he addressed problems specific to each of the churches.

The church of the Corinthians had a problem with disorder during their services that he addressed. Everyone wanted to speak with other tongues at the same time.

WOMEN IN THE GENTILE CHURCH •

Also, the temple of Aphrodite (Venus) was in Corinth with thousands of temple prostitutes.

The women were affected with some of these beliefs, being unlearned and ignorant of the truth, but having influence over men.

•

Paul specifically silenced these women in the church, instructing them to be taught at home by their husbands.

•

You can find Paul’s instruction regarding this matter in I Corinthians 14: 34.

WOMEN IN THE GENTILE CHURCHES •

Note that Paul stated “Let YOUR women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak;

This in no way indicated that ALL women, more specifically, righteous women of God who know truth should not be permitted to speak.

•

If this were the case then we would never have had the opportunity to hear the following words....

WHO SAID THIS.... “My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever,� Mary, the Mother of Christ Luke 1: 46-55

WHO SAID THIS “Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.” Miriam, the prophetess & sister of Moses (Exodus 15: 21) “Therefore let us wait for salvation of him, and call upon him to help us, and he will hear our voice, if it please him. For there arose none in our age, neither is there any now in these days neither tribe, nor family, nor people, nor city among us, which worship gods made with hands, as hath been aforetime. For the which cause our fathers were given to the sword, and for a spoil, and had a great fall before our enemies. But we know none other god, therefore we trust that he will not dispise us, nor any of our nation.” Judith of the tribe of Simeon (Judith in the Apocrypha Ch. 8 17-20)

Now in the lasts days, God will do a new thing in the earth, a woman shall compass a man, (Jeremiah 31:22). They will regain their equality with man as in the beginning. Therefore all of God’s children must come before the altar of God and bring their offering to be accepted by him.
